Highly recommend, for a budget family pub, our visit was exceptional, service with a smile and politeness, excellent choice of drinks, plenty of room around the table and food was cooked perfect, highly recommend

Great extensive menu for gluten free/Coeliac diners, the restaurant was clean and tidy. The bar worker came and cleaned the table again due to high cross contamination sensitivity. The waitress, Emma, was very attentive, polite and was extremely careful about handling gluten free food. I explained the situation with having Coeliac and she was highly knowledgeable on how to handle the order without gluten. Emma even checked about certain ingredients etc. Thank you, Emma!

Large group booking, food was really nice and hot on arrival. Very busy for a Thursday but we were still looked after, Emma our server was checking in and went above and beyond to apologise for any delay. Service was exceptional, food and drink well priced. Overall lovely evening for all of us.

The wacky warehouse is brilliant for the grandkids but we had food after we ordered a Sunday lunch worst Sunday diner ever my grandson couldn’t chew the Yorkshire pudding turkey was so dry he couldn’t eat it then we had an all day breakfast bacon was too salty to eat we also ordered a mix grill there was 1 piece of chicken a piece of gammon a sausage chip n egg when as that ever been a mix grill only meal that was good was grandsons chicken nuggets chips n beans

We love this place, staff are great and so is the food! Staff are always very friendly and chatty, check up on you and make sure everything is ok. We are hoping they bring a new menu out soon as we eat here often and can’t wait for some changes 😀

Well we were pleasantly surprised with the breakfast we were served it was hot and had plenty the price was good, the only thing which is a personal taste was the sausage it was ok just didn’t like the seasoning but brilliant value for money will definitely go back soon

We came to the Chestnut Tree again, it was the kids holidays so it was very busy, the food was excellent, the wait time was acceptable for how busy it was. Staff were running round but had smiles on their faces. Family offer for £15 is excellent value for money too. Top draw!

My son has life threatening allergies. When ordering my food, the manger Coleese refused my request to speak to the chef or show me packing with ingredients. However, the chef did kindly come and speak to me to give me some reassurance. Mean while, my friend had already placed her order so we asked manger Coleese if our food could be brought out together, however this never happened. My friend and her children had eaten their meal and I was still waiting for mine. I spoke to manager Coleese who was very rude and defensive saying she only had 2 chefs in the kitchen today and it 'wasn't her problem' that our meals didn't come out together. Coleese was seen by customers storming in and out of the kitchen swearing and looked very angry. I asked for a full refund from Coleese . She did this in such an unprofessional manner , she was very snappy, rude and unapologetic. I was utterly shocked by this treatment by a member of management staff . Hungry horse , I suggest you re train your management staff (Coleese) on good customer service and professionalism because this behavior is unacceptable.

Saw online that there is a £5 deal. What a bargain. I had the scampi while my partner had the burger. Had to have the big ice cream pudding too! All really nice and was served fast

I visit and eat at chestnut tree up to 3 times a week with my father and children. We absolutely love the food and staff. Have been regulars for over 5 years. Amazing atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Gorgeous food at reasonable prices xx

Absolute crap service!! No food for vegetarians. Can't cook chips as no fryers!! Can only do basic food.... Definitely wouldn't go again.

We visit here quite a lot it’s a great place, lots of choice on the menus and lovely food, the staff are always friendly and helpful handy if you need to go shopping to Aldi next door. I would definitely recommend to friends and family

Came down on Christmas eve after a long day at work and brought the family, ordered a fare amount of food during a busy period and the chef called Pat did am amazing job, all the food was presented well and the steaks cooked to perfection. Top lad 5*

We often call at Chestnut Tree for breakfast. Always great value, brilliant quality and the customer service is unique. All the staff are so welcoming and helpful. It just makes us want to call again and again. We do go to other places but they just don’t meet this criteria.

We travel to the Chestnut Tree often, and the staff are great. The food is always great with good portion sizes and a lot of good choices. I hope they bring back the chicken sandwich soon though :(.. Its our favourite. We always have a great laugh with the staff and now on a friendly side with them which is great when coming here, and something you don't get from everywhere in the local area.. I visited the pub with my mum, husband and two older children. The pub is lovely and spacious. We ordered 4 mixed grills and the katsu chicken. The mixed grills were perfect, cooked just right and a good selection of meats (very big portion too), the katsu chicken was tasty especially the sauce. We will definitely be visiting again.

We are occasional visitors to chestnut tree but this visit was less than ideal. The 30 minute wait was ok with us but we expected all the meals to be served together and not the long delay for the fourth meal when we ordered all meals together. The mix it up sizzler was brought out cold and was certainly not sizzling, the veg was cold and sweet potatoes luke warm. The smokin' jack burger was still pink in the middle. Both these meals were returned and remade but this really took the shine off the family meal.

We come here on a Tuesday while grandaughter at dance we ave a drink and free game of pool as its free pool on Tuesday staff always friendly and helpful

Beers really good now. Can’t only have one though. Burger deal on a Friday is great to bring the work pals. 2 pints and 2 burgers for less than £20. Bargain!

Cold food Wrong orders. Indifferent staff. Dont bother and find somewhere that deserves your money. Doesn’t matter how much you pay you deserve to be served HOT food.

Once again refused service. I specifically checked if they were serving food on the booking form as we had been let down before. Visited after a hospital visit. Went to order food at 8.40 to be told the kitchen was closed. The couple on the next table said well they are making our food now so complain, the kitchens still open. But what's the point. The food is lovely when you can get it. It's not as though the place was busy tonight too.🤷‍♀️

Staff are super friendly and great. Had a lovely meal which was perfect and delicious. Amazing Staff & Amazing Food. will definitely be returning to this lovely pub!!

Thought id leave a review on here too as its deserved. staff are always fantastic with us, always have conversations with us and make it like a second home for us. food is great and cheap and also find myself looking at a new deal they have on every other week. the mix and match ones are great value even at full price. we enjoy the steak pies too, they are unbelievable they are.. well done chestnut tree

Stopped eating here as over the last 5 years the food is just awful. The venue is handy to go for a drink and catch up with friends and that's the one and only draw up until this weekend. Saturday night, we tried getting another drink from the bar just after 10pm and staff member said they were closing! Googled their hours and supposedly open until 11pm. It just gets worse with every visit.

Was really disappointed with our meal. We decided to pop here on the way home and it wasn’t great at all. The chicken was seriously burnt. We did mention this to the waitress but all she said was I will let the kitchen know. Not great at all.

Absolutely Devine the Camembert and onion chutney and chicken strips starter was lush and the main meal’s chicken new Yorker for our daughter and tandoori sizzler for me and my wife then we had deserts millionaire cheesecake and chocolate torte and the Homer donut was brilliant and the staff the manageress were fantastic we had been before but this was a brilliant meal and good value

I pop in here quite regularly, lovely place with a nice atmosphere. Food is ok, not the greatest.. just typical pub food to be fair, but the prices are reasonable!

Been here today, ordered an iced coffee with caramel which is amazing. Staff very on it and serving people as fast as they could and trying to organise tables for people which is great.

Came here with a group of friends, came to play some darts, pool and watch the football after the Barnsley match. Great place to come for a drink with the lads and even for families too.

Called in to get food for me and my partner. Odered steak witch seemed to take a long time to arrive. When it did arrive i found the chips and peas was cold.i had to then find someone to complain to find i was asked to start on my steak ,they would be staight out with replacement chips and peas.this took another five minutes. Will not recommend or visit the the chesnutree again.

Would recommend this pub for a visit. Just enjoyed a lovely meal ( 15oz gammon with all the trimmings) it was cooked to perfection and served promptly.

Came here for a business meeting again, brilliant coffee. We even had lunch, 2 meals for £11.49 is a pretty good offer considering the quality of meals we received. Will return when in the area again in the near future. Thank you

I love this place, staff are fantastic, theyre always bringing out new offers and cheap meals. Never had any issues with our food in the past. Keep coming in for breakfast on a morning as its buy one get one free so you get 2 for £4.79 which is fantastic. I noticed today they are going to be doing quizzes which we will definitely be going to as we used to love them years ago. I just hope they add more outside for the summer.

Amazing place to eat, friendly staff always welcoming. Visit atleast 2/3 times a week. We travel from Huddersfield to Barnsley an have done for years its become our favourite place to eat xx

Staff are always friendly, always have a chat with us, they always seem to have an offer on for food or drinks and the app is amazing for 10% off your drinks when they show something on the tvs, which 9/10 there is always something on sport wise.

Of the three of us no one really enjoyed their meal. Kids meal was standard. Lasagne tasted like a soup packet sauce had been used it was salty. Garlic bread was burnt but the ciabatta was dusty so you had an odd combination. Lemonade was not very fizzy. Spoke to manager who replaced it but it was only a little bit better. Not much fizz to it at all. Took an age to get hold of anyone at the bar. But the interactions I had were friendly. Had a dessert that was neither hot nor cold just sort of mildly warm. So that was a massive disappointment as I was expecting that to save the meal. Soft play is 5 per child which I think is kind of expensive.. especially if you're only there for 30 minutes. Would rather not visit again

Called in again for food, ordered from the 'Festive Menu'. Spot on again and cant complain at £17.99 for a 3 course meal. My partner loved it and will definitely return again soon and even going to book for a family get together there.

Attended Wacky warehouse for a party today, brilliant service from all the staff, Devon, Holly and Emma. Good food and drink choice and lots of fun for the kids! Party went well and would definitely recommend for future parties!
