Reluctant to tell folks about this one. Great little spot for lunch - very very generous portions. Lovely staff. Combine with a bit of shopping.

Booked for Mothers Day meal for myself and my daughter. We arrived for the "second sitting" at 3pm and staff were just setting up the tables. We checked in and were told we were sitting at the bottom of the steps in, what looked like, its normally the "dog cafe". We were very disappointed and I spoke with staff and asked if we could be seated upstairs. We were told that all tables for 2 were in that area and that diners with dogs, at the side of us, would soon be leaving. We had no other option but to sit there. It smelled of damp dog, and was very draughty, as we were literally next to the entrance. The table was very wobbly, and although someone came twice with wedges, we had to balance it throughout the meal. The staff were friendly, as they always are, and the food was ok, but if we had been told about this seating arrangement when I booked, then we would have gone elsewhere, Very disappointing.

Not the best value for money - food tasted as though it had been cooked then left to stand a while before serving. Can’t say you get good quality or quantity for the price!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course Valentine’s takeaway. Lovely flavours, generous portions and every bit as good as last year’s.

Had a lovely meal with my nannan, sister, her partner, and young son. The waitresses were very friendly and all cooed over my nephew, and provided extra gravy for my nannan which was very nice of them. Food was lovely and large portion sizes, would definitely come again. Not loads of vegetarian options but enough that I had a choice of what to eat, the falafels were very tasty and not too dry either which makes a nice change.

Love having lunch here with my friend. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A great selection of delicious cakes too.

Our first visit along with our son, his partner and their baby son (at their recommendation) for Sunday lunch. We had a lovely experience, with excellent food and service, including warming our grandson's baby food. The place was very busy and it was impressive to see how a relatively small number of staff dealt so efficiently with looking after everyone. Hard to pick a favourite main course, but the adults all enjoyed the ice cream/sorbet. We would highly recommend it, and hope that we get to go back.

First time try of the Bistro evening. Excellent. Great menu choices, lovely staff. Very generous portions and well priced for value for money. Food was excellent, well presented and well cooked. Will be returning.

Called in and very busy and lovely setting. So such a shame about the food. Very disappointed with gluten free options. Only one choice of cake. Didn't feel staff knew much apart from having gluten free bread. Lack of help to what was actually suitable for coleiacs.

Popped in as was passing and will be back. Fantastic cafe, service spot on and breakfast, was one of the best I have had in the local area. All the staff had smiles on their faces and couldn't do enough for us.

Always very nice, beautiful cakes on offer a good cuppa, friendly warm atmosphere. Not had any food apart from cake but I have to say what I saw looks well presented. Families seem to like it, perhaps it's the ice cream they have on offer.

Met a friend for coffee and cake here yesterday. Haven’t been for quite a while. It wasn’t particularly busy( it was 2pm) so I guess quietened down at this time. We had to ask, after some 20 minutes if anyone was taking our order. We ordered tea, coffee, scone and lemon drizzle. The cake was quite dry ,scone was ok. I know prices have risen, but here they are ridiculous, and not value for money. Won’t be visiting again.

Amazing little place tucked away. Great food, great choice of cakes. The atmosphere is lovely. You've then got the garden centre to look around and the small petting area. They have some lovely shops too.

Very nice place only popped in for cake and coffee but will go back. Not just a coffee shop it's a garden centre got kids entertainment clothing and optician plus more.

First time trying and wouldn’t return, I first ordered a lemon drizzle which I took back as it was dry and exchanged this for a coffee and walnut cake which I left the majority of. I’ve left feeling very queasy. The menu states the cakes are between £3.00 and £3.25 yet our bill was £17.20 for two coffee and two cakes. I would have been happy to pay this if the quality lived up to to the price tag. We won’t be returning. The building itself is lovely it’s just a shame about the rest.

We only had lattes in this cafe. My wife thought it was the best latte she'd had in a while. The cafe is in a beautiful, rustic location. The cafe was relaxing and tastefully decorated.

A lovely place to visit. Beautiful surroundings. Very good service and excellent food and drink. Reasonably priced. Very clean. We sat outside in the rear garden on the side of tge stream. Ducks and geese nearby. Very relaxing.

Prices are getting very steep. As previous reviewers have commented, other local venues aren't this dear. £12.60 for 2 coffees and one brownie. Shan't become a regular customer.

Had an exceptional lunch here today with some friends from the area. Menu was great as was the service and food quality. Tuesday and so busy which was lovely to see. Just a shame we didn’t have more time before heading South, as the surrounding shops looked fab.

What used to be great is becoming rapidly average and frayed at the edges. Outside needs a good jet washing and a good sweep up. Very disappointing that there are no longer gazebos and tables outside, surely this is the way forward. Cakes are now very expensive compared with other venues. Location, interior, coffee and food quality are still great, but the overall experience has deteriorated. I go much less than I used to. Somebody needs to arrest the decline, its not beyond recovery!!

Absolutely ripped off with the food prices. £37 for Fish and chips and a ploughman's that had one slice of ham on the board or and two small bottles of pop. Then if you want to spend £4-35 on a single scoop of ice cream for desert then go for it. Thanks but no thanks someone is taking the piss with the prices. Won't be returning/Won't be missed.

Staff is always friendly and welcoming if it’s for a latte or meal. The desserts are very tasty. I always enjoy a latte after my massage.

Lovely lunch today. I selected the Ham, brie and rocket sandwich with salad. As I’m not keen on Brie and rocket I asked for just the Ham sandwich - no problem. The Sandwich accompanied by Tomato Jam pink slaw and salad was lovely. My Husband had the Falafel vegetarian meal which he thoroughly enjoyed. Very Hot day enjoyed our pint of larger with our meal. Thankyou very friendly staff.

Called in this morning and ordered 2 coffee's and 2 bacon sandwiches (£19), it was busy inside so we sat outside on poorly maintained and tatty garden furniture. After waiting for 15mins for sandwiches to arrive, we waited another 15mins before going to see the waitress to find out where our drinks were, it was obvious that she had forgotten them. While waiting for them to arrive another couple said they'd waited 30mins for their drinks. Premium prices with poor quality service.

Wow, pretty much everything I wanted is on offer here. We popped in on two occasions - post walk cake and coffee and breakfast. The cake selection is fantastic, and you get an absolute wodge of cake for the money. I had the treacle tart, which was everything I was hoping for and more. The breakfast sandwiches are massive and delicious, just the thing to set you up for the day. Staff are super courteous and friendly. I wish I had had space for gelato - again, massive selection!

Just had Sunday lunch. Chef recommended the brisket (£17) and said that I wouldn't be disappointed. Sorry chef. I only had one mouthful. It tasted off and I've still got serious indegestion 90 minutes later. Beware of chef's recommendations - still had to pay for it. I hope it goes to a good home (one of the many dogs knocking about). Many years ago you could get a really nice burger and home-made chips. Now its gone so-called up market (is brisket really 'up market?). If you are responsible enough to recommend something then you should have the authority to scratch the bill if it goes wrong. And I'm pleased that you can't hear the blowback from my stomach.

it's a great little spot next to the river across from the bridleway, and next to a bijou garden centre. The food is great, and it's even better in winter when the fire is lit.

By chance we found this location at a lovely sunshine Good Friday . Parking all around , restaurants look small from outside ( after we find out they have few tables on side conner & also on the brook side ) Friendly waitress , luckily get us a table even many of it reserved . Reasonable prices, fresh cooked meals, very happy with ours dining . Sure will return . We spend times around after , lovely farm on top area .

We just like to drive out on a lovely sunny Good Friday , maps search get this place . Spends hours around , Free farm so love it , and garden centres, clothing stores.. .. after that dine in this gorgeous restaurant. Friendly services & delicious foods . Sure will return . Visited for breakfast today. Service was really quick, and food came on hot plates and all orders were correct. We had a range of breakfast foods, there was 6 of us. It was all just ok, nothing special. Took ages for the plates to be cleared, no one asked if all ok or if we needed anything else. We did like the decor and ambience of the place, and the prices for what we had were reasonable. Wouldn't not go back but wouldn't rush to go back.

Lovely location overlooking the river/stream in the Pot House Hamlet at Silkstone. We found the food to be excellent (and a good choice of cakes if you just want coffee/tea and cake). I've been several times and never disappointed.

Unfortunately, not that good. Never been before and the place looks lovely., amazing even. However, the service and the food were very poor. Maybe they were too busy for Mother's Day that they couldn't cope? I wouldn't go again.

I visited a Saturday morning along with my grandson and we got a table straight away. Service (Darcy) was quick , friendly and we were made very welcome. Food was really good, I recommend the beef brisket with a top quality coffee. I visit it here often and it never disappoints, Ambience was good with couples, singles and family’s alike, even dogs are welcome.

Quirky place, but very expensive. Cake was nice but due to keeping in the fridge was slightly firm and not soft an fluffy. Due to the building, it's very cold even though I was near the fire, also it's very echoey.

We’ve been to this restaurant on numerous occasions over the years and have always been impressed by the quality of food, ambience and service. Over recent months we’ve visited on a number of the ‘Bistro Evenings’ run once or twice a month and have again been hugely impressed! The food is at least ‘on par’ if not better than our other favourite restaurants and the everything about the evenings are to be commended. If you haven’t yet tried the evening sessions I cannot recommend them highly enough!

I ordered the following Tandoori buttermilk fried chicken breast, toasted brioche, roast sweet potato, Asian slaw, sweet chilli dressing, crushed peanuts and rocket £14.95 I was very disappointed to receive 3 tiny rock hard chicken goujons, almost inedible, on a slice of brioche bread, swamped in rocket and slaw with 8 cold sweet potato fries scattered around the edges. I was not expecting sweet potato fries as the description is misleading, but I definately did not expect them to be cold. I called the waitress over and whispered that they were cold as I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it was an error. She went to the kitchen only to return to say they were supposed to be cold!!! To say I was shocked was an understatement, a description of 'roast sweet potato' on the menu does not, in someones wildest imagination, ever resemble cold sweet potato fries and all this for £14.95. Very disappointing as it is such a beautiful location too.

Great little place, with good food and a chilled atmosphere, staff and people were friendly, was it worth it? So 2 kids, 2 adults, £45, but when you consider we had 3 bowls of chips, with dips, 4 drinks and 4 generous portions of cake each, I'd say absolutely! Better than a Starbucks any day. I feel we should shift our perception from thinking an evening meal should be the most expensive meal, and that anything relaxed, safe for kids and an enjoyable experience is definitively worth a trip out. Finally, the Christmas decor was fab, and I did enjoy taking photos of the decorations, ducks and geese.
