I had a great chicken burger here. I hadn't realised this pub existed until a 007 treasure hunt took us past it. I went back for a visit and was glad I did.

Nice pub BUT a pint and a glass of house white £17. Wow. Other options are close... and more than 12% cheaper.

Great authentic old British Pub used by many of the Fleet Street characters over the years. Definitely worth a stop off for lunch or drinks

Nice pub if you can get here early and enjoy a quiet few pints. Tends to get pretty busy with tourists in the late afternoon / evening where the atmosphere shifts into somewhat of a tourist attraction to check of a list. Fantastic staff though.

Called in for a quick drink last week as had been wanting to visit for a long time. Nice old quirky pub but expensive, was very quiet and bar staff not particularly friendly. Appreciate its London, but nearly £20 for a pint of lager and a small prosecco is overpriced in my opinion. Had just the one drink and went elsewhere and sadly wouldn't visit again.

Lovely traditional pub, we ate in the dining room upstairs which was delightful, cosy, candles and fresh flowers on table, it's a beautiful room. Food was delicious, service was excellent. A special place

Really lovely traditional pub right near my work in London. Really surprised to see it has 3 floors all with a different atmosphere and own bar! The staff were so good and welcoming so we decided to stay after our drinks and have some food. Which was equally nice! I recommend the small plates (bruschetta) the wings and the mains all sounded great. Really pleasantly surprised for a tucked away pub in the city. And nice to see they have not only maintained but emphasised the traditional London pub feel. Will definitely be back!

Warm welcome, excellent bar staff especially Rosie. It was my 60th birthday and she went above and beyond to make it a very memorable occasion. I even had a cake with 1 candle and a Welsh Happy Birthday played to me!! Will be back if allowed back in. 😁😁

Good traditional pub food in a nice old pub. Convenient for Covent Garden area but tucked away in a side street so not ram packed with crowds as is the case in many pubs,we were seated in a comfortable upstairs dining area. Pleasant cheerful staff. The Irish stew was particularly good

Possibly the nicest, kindest staff who create a really warm welcome in the most genuine way. Stella and John were in the downstairs bar and I didn't get the guy who was on the main floors name but he was equally amaing! The place is hiden away and has a really comfortable vibe. I totally agree with all the glowing reviews below!! Can't wait to return!

Heard Bang Bang had taken over the Kitchen at this pub. Decided to check it out. Great little pub and the food from them was amazing, as usual. Will be back for more pie soon. Thanks

Fantastic pub to visit, Hidden down a little side street and a real gem of a place, Food was really good, especially the apple pie. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. I will defiantly be back here again.

También hay un restaurante de alta cocina en la planta superior si quieres algo un pero más especial o para un evento. Recomiendo encarecidamente este pub y sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

I love the Cheshire Cheese! It's so nice. The staff are amazing. I've been in a few times and everyone behind the bar is so inviting and considerate. The times I've been I've met so many amazing staff members that unfortunately I've forgotten most of their names but the last time I was in there I wrote down their names to make sure the pub was aware of how great all their team is. Stella, Aaron and John. So helpful and funny. Also the wine is really yummy. Food looks great too. Can't recommend enough.

The barman Will was very knowledgeable and recommended a lovely range of wines.

I was served by a very kind guy who was very attentive with the service and ensured everything was ok with the food and drinks , it was in the downstairs seating area. The atmosphere was so cozy and it is perfect to feel the typical British pub vibe, I had a burger and it was delicious! Will come back for sure.

Really nice pub in the centre of London. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of tables available, good selection of beers, and happy staff. Only stopped for a beer (or two) but there is food available.

Hidden boozer, just off the main drag. Recently reopened under new management, I believe. Shepherd Neame Late Red in excellent condition and a lovely blue cheese burger made with really good quality beef. A nice place.

🚇Temple 🍺 £6.70 Mahou A Charming Backstreet Boozer. Not to be confused with Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese on Fleet Street, The Cheshire Cheese is located just off The Strand in the Temple district of London. The nearest Tube is Temple. There has been a tavern on this site since the 16th century, The Cheshire Cheese was originally built in 1810. The pub was rebuilt in 1928 and is Grade II listed. The pub is split over three levels, there is a cosy Cellar Bar, a function/overflow room upstairs and the main bar on the ground floor. The decor here is everything you want to see in an old London pub. There are dark wood Georgian panels, stained glass, leaded windows, beer barrel tables and a drinking ledge. The seating is predominantly high stools, opposite the servery is a leather buttoned corner banquette. The beer selection was good and included a decent line up of craft and well known brands, there was no cask ale due to lack of demand. I decided on a pint of Mahou, my pint was excellent, price point was above average. I was kindly offered to try the Jubel Peach Lager, it was a refreshing Lager, a little sweet for me. If you’re feeling peckish there is a Bar Snack menu available with hearty Sausage Rolls, Pork Pies, Cheese and Ploughman’s Boards. I arrived around 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon in February. The main bar was fairly quiet with a few punters in attendance, upstairs was busy with a liquid lunch meeting taking place. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed with a local feel and a superb soundtrack in the background. I was invited to visit the pub and was given a guided tour by Nina the pub manager. Nina was the consummate host and was very informative telling me about this charming backstreet pub. The pub has just installed three new TV’s in the cellar bar to show live sport including the upcoming final Six Nations games. I have visited the @cheshirecheeselondon on a few occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. This is a delightful independent pub that has that unique old London pub feel. I happened across The Cheshire Cheese while strolling through London trying to ride out some jet lag. It happened to be the day they were opening the restaurant upstairs, and I couldn’t have been happier to discover this charming restaurant! I had the brisket bourguignon, and it was delicious. Loads of flavor & beautifully presented. The serving staff couldn’t have been kinder and I look forward to visiting again someday.

Great vibe in a very cosy little pub. Lovely staff who are always up for a chat and a laugh. Seriously the best chicken burgers you will find in London. It’s quickly become a new regular catch-up spot. Highly recommend.

Popped in for a couple of drinks and some food and what an underrated gem! Friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere and a good selection of drinks. Food was top notch! Would totally recommend the Chilli Chilli Raclette chips and the beef empanadas.

If I had to describe THE Cheshire Cheese in two words I would use: Cheshire.... and Cheese. That is simply because there is nothing else like it. Quintessentially a pub, the place will not disappoint anyone who wants a non-pretentious and cozy place to imbibe. The staff is beyond friendly and, most importantly, the bartenders actually make an effort to serve you even when the place is full.

Super cozy pub, really friendly service and great beers on tap (incl. Leffe and Guinness)! Location is also great on a nice quiet street.

Kind staff and we came in from the windy cold and immediately the gal made us feel welcome. We had all the good drinks. We came in early so we had the place to ourselves! Nice atmosphere, a lot of character, and fun things to look at. They also had a great playlist of music going on. It would be fun to karaoke.

Best pub in London. Bar maids are top drawer, we have Dua Lipa and Tomb Riader who are great hosts. They deserve a pay rise!!!!

Nice pub, friendly service and nice wine glasses! I needed to contact the pub before visiting with friends. No phone number available and they didn't respond to my email. Thus prevented me from making tge pub a meeting point for a larger group as I couldn't get the answers to a couple of questions I needed.

The food was out of this world. Excellent quality, fresh ingredients, and a beautifully poured pint which was crisp - delightful!

Best kept secret as of March 2023, Only Food and Courses have taken residency upstairs in the pub! A six course revolving tasting menu prepared by the rising star chef Robbie Lorraine will be tough to get into once the word is out. At 75 quid for gourmet ingredients that pleasantly surprise the tongue and command your attention with his love of varying textures, Robbie's reimagined favorites from his childhood and daring new ideas are a treasure to experience in such a cosy venue.

What a pub. Possibly the best little bar I've ever found in London.

We went for the tasting menu that chef Robbie has moved from a Brixton pop-up to a more permanent location. Big shout out the amazing service got from Shelley as well. Each course is designed a different story, linked either to Robbie’s life, to the eighties, to South London, or to the beloved tv show Only Fools and Horses. It’s a fun experience with some really well executed dishes and the menu changes monthly. Popular with foodies, you must go and try this experience - good for a meal out with friends as I did, or for a date night.

This pub - not to be confused with "Ye Old Cheshire Cheese" on Fleet street, is off Fleet street, and as charming in it's own way. It feels as if you're on an excellent stage set in Victorian times: bowed, lead, cross hatch windows, dark wood interiors with wood beamed ceilings and it looks like it probably looked when it was built , other than 1 TV, which didn't really intrude. We only had a quick drink as we were off to the theatre but would love to go back. The prices were fine and the staff were friendly.
