Happened by chance upon this delightful little pub. Good beer and other drinks, excellent food and great atmosphere. Only open Friday to Monday, but well worth waiting for.

Booked in here for dinner as we were staying at Manor Farm in our caravan. Arrived early and our table was ready. Menu had plenty of choice but was not too long and the drinks were served promptly. The tacos I ordered were full of flavour and came with chips and a lovely fresh salad. The wife had a flatbread and a side of chips. Both were excellent as were the cheesecake and stuffed cookies we followed this with. The food was first class and the drinks nicely chilled. We will certainly be returning when in the area again. Oh and the landlord was welcoming and friendly with a quick wit.

some friends recommended this place and kindly took us for dinner there on a friday evening. they'd booked a table which they recommend as this place isn't very big. We all got a warm welcome on arrival from the owner and the gentleman behind the bar, we ordered some drinks and sat at our table. the owner brought some menus over and there was plenty to choose from! it's all locally sourced ingredients apparently and cooked fresh in house. I went for the hot sausage roll with chips and salad All of us had different things and all of us said how good the meals were, all empty plates! i had for pudding one of the yummy cakes under the glass dome on the bar along with a scoop of ice cream, yummy! overall a lovely evening with great food and friendly service. My husband and i agreed we'd definitely be back again!

Just stopped at this pub as it is handily located just off the M1 and was pleasantly surprised with a really really lovely lunch. We had a couple of vegetarian wraps with chips and shared a brownie for dessert. Everything we had was delicious! The staff were particularly friendly, we had our 8 month old with us and he was made to feel very welcome with clean and easy to use high chair, and I also really liked that both male/female toilets had changing facilities which isn’t always the case in smaller pubs! We stopped here more for convenience than anything else but will definitely be using it as our go to stop off when driving down south from now on!

Friendly pub with great food, 8 mins off the M1 motorway. Dog friendly too. Great selection of ales (it’s a free house). Would highly recommend. Lovely staff - only downside is it’s only open Fri/Sat/Sun. Definitely worth a visit - will return.

We visited yesterday for a late lunch after arriving at our Airbnb nearby. The pub had such a lovely feel to it immediately. The landlord who greeted us was very friendly and we had a good chat about their produce. A lot of it is locally grown and freshly harvested. Their menu is often changed to reflect the produce they are able to get. The taste of the vegetables was amazing and you could really tell the difference from the norm. We could have ate a whole plate of veg and been very satisfied it was that good (and we love meat!). The shepherd's pie we had was beautiful. I would highly recommend this place!!

We'd been meaning to try this pub for months and were not disappointed. They have very good interesting home-cooked food, an excellent choice of local beers and a friendly landlord. We will definitely be visiting again!

The food was excellent and a very friendly pub. My only criticism is that “ my host” should have been more proactive. We were on the terrace, a lovely spot. However we weren’t offered another drink or even a dessert when the plates were cleared. . Sales could have been so much better. If the expectation is that we would need to go back inside to order extras a notice would have been sufficient. Having said that I would definitely go back as the food was so good. This is submitted purely as constructive feedback and not tended to be negative

Paid a vist for lunch today, so glad we reserved a table! What a lovely place to visit, so cheery and polite, nice 'different' menu with beautful food cooked fresh to order. The landlord is exceptionally proud and passionate and told us how the majority of food and drink is locally sourced. They even have a doggy menu! We were made to feel so welcome, so much so we're hoping to make this a regular place to visit, may even treat the husband to a trip too! Well done, you've done a great job in your renovations too, a lovely pib with great character...

We have moved to the area and looking for a local to make friends and drink in and having heard it had been nominated for best pub we thought it would be ideal. Well the first two drive bys it was closed (and that wasn’t on a Monday or Tuesday!) when we eventually got in we were told no standing at the bar even though there was hardly any one on there..The the food was nice and the beer was good, small selection of spirits but the real shock was the price. There is no drinks price displayed (a legal requirement) so we couldn’t check our bill without making a fuss which the barman ( to be fair the chef seemed very friendly and nice, maybe they should swap!) made clear we should not question it. Since we visited it has become apparent they have very irregular opening hours, so if you do fancy a visit check first as it’s probably closed!!! A lot to learn to become a real pub, I doubt many locals use it. In summary good beer, nice food but very expensive compared to other local pubs and the barman was unfriendly and rude. Was

We only moved to area this year and had heard about this place , we tried a couple of times to visit but was closed. We eventually drove passed when it was open, the beer was good, but you can’t sit at the bar and it didn’t have a real pub atmosphere, I can’t imagine it has many locals. There’s no drinks price list and we had quite a shock when the bill came, over priced and quite unfriendly barman. New to the game and it shows.

Another night of excellent music from Jamie and excellent fresh cooked, local, food prepared by Amy with good (local) beer served by Chris. You always get a warm welcome at The Cherry Tree and the fact they are finalists in The Great British Pub Awards And winners of the Rugby CAMRA Country pub award this year reflects what a great place this is. There is a one star review on here made of the same evening, which doesn’t reflect the service or pub at all. At times during the evening the volume of chatter and laughter coming from the table drowned out the music and Chris was extremely polite when he asked if they could be a little quieter, sometimes you get carried away and don’t realise how loud you are in a small space. The Cherry Tree is what a local, independent rural pub should be.

We were invited by friends to meet them in this pub as there was live music so we could combine our love for music with a catch up. We were given a fantastic welcome by the landlord and initial impressions of The Cherry Tree were 5*. We were absolutely gobsmacked when, towards the end of the evening the landlord came and told us to stop talking as it was affecting the music. We were most surprised and lowered our voices to chat quietly. We were repeatedly told to stop talking. We had placed ourselves towards the back of the pub, away from the live performance because we knew we would want to chat. It is bizarre that you can be expected to whisper in a pub - this should have been billed as a "concert". We spoke to the musician afterwards and he said he was unaware.of our chat and it did not affect his performance! Such a shame that what would have been a.perfect eve ING was ruined by the behaviour and reaction of the landlord.

A great pub! We had delicious fresh-cooked food (chicken curries, quesadillas) from a menu using vegetables from allotments across the way. The excellent musician was also a local professional guitar and vocalist who produced his own backup as he went, playing his unique versions of some classic bluesy-rock sets. He played his heart out, despite a bunch of raucous, ignorant punters hell-bent on drowning him out. Yes, a pub is for conversation and a good time, but come on guys/gals, a bit of respect for people trying to enjoy the entertainment in a cosy environment. They could have decamped to the other room to be loud.

We've been meaning to come here for a while, as we know the owners and remembered recently when they were open, so we headed over with our dog. Lovely place and a friendly atmosphere with friendly staff and food that is lovingly made to order. We both had the vegan chilli and rice and some lovely homemade cakes for pudding. A great selection of drinks, too.
