So we were coming back from disc golf, and my partner saw this place so we booked up for an Alpaca walk and afternoon tea. Brilliant experience very friendly animals and very nice afternoon tea, sandwiches were lush, nice scones and great little selection of cakes. Expensive and food could better. My jacket potato appeared to have been reheated several times. You couldn’t get your knife through the skin and the inside was dried out. The accompanying salad was mainly lettuce. We found the walk with alpacas expensive at £25 for an adult for a quick walk twice round a field.

With our 12 year old daughter with us for the week, we decided on an Alpaca walk for one of the days. The weather having been very rainy, and having a 70 minute journey to do, I e-mailed to check on the situation and got a positive reply. Then due entirely to my mistake we missed the appointed day. They were very accommodating and allowed us to change it to two days later. We enjoyed the walk and the cafe lunch afterwards.

I've visited several times now and have always enjoyed the various facilities. I had a particularly good experience this morning when a man who works/owns/ runs it (sorry I didn't get a name) reassured me that my two very excitable and loud dogs were very welcome at our booked enclosed field appointment and that the surrounding animals would be unfazed by their barking! He was right and my dogs calmed down quickly and we enjoyed the field without any issues. Thank you for the reassurance, I passed this to another dog owner on the way out!

A nice place, big airy room (and old barn I believe), lovely cakes, good food, but when we went there it seemed to be run by teenagers. Don't know if this was a community thing, but a little strange otherwise. Service was polite, but a little unorganized. If you have children there's the extra bonus of an array of farm animals, including llamas, alpacas, goats, pigs, geese and more. There are also bags of food you can buy for £1 to feed the animals, which is always fun. Final thought, easy to get to, plenty of parking, accessibility good, it just lacks that little something to get the five stars.

My first trip here to the Buttercup Tearooms with my family and furry companion all of which had previously visited the farm. The tearoom was clean and tidy and staff were very accommodating, helpful and very friendly and served me and my family with a smile at the counter as the tearoom is counter service only. A variety of cakes in a locked display and a choice of many items on the menu from breakfasts, pancakes, sandwiches etc so a choice of food for all to enjoy!! Dog friendly tearoom and which being a family of 4 with a furry companion it was an ideal location and the lady in the tearoom even brought a bowl of water over even though we had our own which was a lovely touch. After a bite to eat I ventured for an Alpaca walk and I was not disappointed the knowledge from Richard not only about the Alpacas but the other variety of animals on the farm made the experience enjoyable and a true learning experience filled with fun aswell. Julius was a true Alpaca gentlemen and gave lots of cuddles along with his furry companions in the paddock. Truly a magnificent experience and one I will remember for a lifetime!! Well worth a visit and we'll worth taking part and organising/ booking a walk as you will not be disappointed!! I will forever cherish the memories I have made here and I will definitely be returning very soon. Highly recommend this idyllic little farm and tearoom and is suitable for all ages!!

We've called at this tearoom in the past and found the setting and food extremely good. Not so now! We visited this place on Tuesday, the tea and coffee was OK but, our beans on toast was terrible. I hate knocking off a star. I'll start with the positives. Food was lovely, great selection for a nice lunch stop. Large barn for seating. Great you can feed the animals £1 a bag, lovely touch for a tea room. Lots of cake to choose from (would of been better if they were labeled) Very helpful when booking for a bigger table Negatives unfortunately Staff had 0 urgency, very long wait on getting served, 2 people serving 1 person at a time with no urgency to get people served and both doing the drinks etc. A gent had to come and help them serve to bring the queue down. Once food was ordered, we got the food quite quickly and it was very nice. The staff (not the helpful gent) weren't the happiest, I don't expect people to walk round smiling all day but maybe put a customer service face on, I did it for many years 😂 Will definitely return, food and the animals were worth it. Excellent tearoom in a huge, but attractive and warm old barn. The tea was really hot, as it should be (unlike most places these days!) + the pot contained TWO strong tea bags (again unlike most places, where they tend to give you ONE weak/cheap tea bag!). We decided to stop here on a three hour motorbike run. We were both cold so we're excited for a nice coffee to warm up. The actual barn is gorgeous and has lovely Halloween decorations for the season. We ordered, asked about the cake selection and the young lad serving didn't know what was what which is a little conerning when you take into account allergies. We ordered two coffees, a cake and a toastie. The coffees came very quickly and the latte was great, the black Americano however had floating bits in it which was slightly off putting however when this was raised a lovely lady apologized and quickly replaced it. Coffee was good and strong, piping hot. The toastie came out as a cheese sandwich at first and when we said it was a toastie the woman said ah thought so. I thought this was odd as surely if you're unsure of an order you would ask again rather than guess? The toastie then came about five minutes after, but still missing cake. I asked a server about it and she wandered off to get it. She must have been distracted as after ten minutes it still had not arrived. I had to go to the counter for a second time to ask for it again, then I was given it. The cake and coffee was really good but the sandwich wasn't anything overly special and the salad it came with was browning at the edges and looked past its best. As someone who has managed 3 cafes and a patisserie it seems to be a little reliant on younger people to serve that maybe lack the direction/ experience and could definitely do with a guiding hand. There is nothing wrong with younger staff members as I believe all young people need that first step into the working world but again this benefits with the right training and guide. The farm was really nice to walk around and overall was a really nice place to visit. Toilets were clean and newly refurbished and every table was well cleared and cleaned by staff.

This is a nice little place for a coffee or tea and a slice of cake at lunch time (As long as the hours suit the staff). The breakfast is nice too, food wise it's nice. Unfortunately the customer service isn't there, I've been quite a few times and I just don't get a friendly vibe off the people that work there. My recent visit was at 4pm, fully aware they were closing at 4:30pm (we just wanted a quick coffee and slice of cake), the moment we walked in the atmosphere was frosty, about 4 of the staff saw us and turned away as if we weren't standing at the counter. My partner had to cough to get their attention, the lady closest huffed and puffed, put her cleaning stuff down, turned round and gave a very unwelcome and fed up sounding "hello". We felt so uneasy about being there, they all made it very clear that we were not welcome, maybe due to the fact it was 4pm and they wanted to close soon. We got stares for the whole 20 minutes that we were in there. Once finished we rushed out the door and said well we won't be going there again! It's a shame because the emporium next door is fabulous and the animals are cute, but the recent visits have really put us off going back.

For my Mum 80th she booked a walk with the alpacas with afternoon tea, which to be honest, I didn’t know what to expect. It was a fantastic day out, a day of laughter and just enjoying the animals and countryside. My Alpaca, Dave, was a beautiful ginger and white colour and had a bit of a stubborn nature, but he was such fun and definitely motivated by food. Richard looked after us and was very interesting and you could tell he loved them. He talked about how they behave what they do. We just had a couple of walks around the fields just stroking feeding and enjoying their company.. This was followed by lovely afternoon tea in the barn conversion which overlooks the fields and some of the animals. It’s dog, friendly child, friendly and very welcoming. I’ve been lucky to dine in some amazing restaurants but the service the can-do attitude and how they made you was second to none They offered a selection of sandwiches from egg mayonnaise, tuna and cucumber, cheese and pickle and a proper ham sandwich which was so tasty. This was finished with two plain and fruit scones with these delicious pastries from mini eclairs to rocky roads to macaroons. I would really recommend this as an afternoon or day out. It’s such fun. We had a glorious weather and we felt so welcomed. Nothing was too much trouble.

Was taken to Buttercups for a spot of bday lunch. Online check said that it was open till 4.30pm - arrived at 13:00hrs and a sign inside the tea room said it was closing at 2pm (why not update this online or even put a sign on the gate?) Sat outside as weather fabulous - and cranked an umbrella open to protect us from the sun. We had sat there for about 5 mins, with the slightest of breezes, when the whole umbrella came out of its holder and fell backwards onto the grass, just grazing the knees of the people sitting near us. Other customers rushed to help and safely reinstated the umbrella, using the slabs already provided for its stability. 2 mins later and exactly the same thing happened again. This time an older gentleman, a member of staff, came out and was annoyed with us for having opened the umbrella - tutting and saying “That’s why the umbrellas aren’t open - this happened yesterday!” We expected an embarrassed apology from staff - not gaslighting and ignorance! We could all easily have been injured! Why no signs up to say not to touch the umbrellas (when tables in full sun) and why wasn’t this fixed if it’d happened previously? Really shocked at his rudeness tbh. Went inside and ordered (as didn’t want to have to drive elsewhere due to the time) and ordered toasted sandwiches, Bailey’s hot choc etc each - but it took an absolute age for these to arrive, despite the place not being busy at all. Young staff - of which there were plenty - seemed to be wandering around without not much urgency to serve customers. Tables were grubby-ish and toilets needed cleaning too. Food was nice - lots of cheese in our toasties - but, overall, my birthday lunch was most disappointing - and my bday companion was embarrassed for it not to have been great for me too. Won’t be in a rush to return; a shame as it’s a lovely location!

Good place to visit but don't expect a cosy tearoom! More like a very spacious pine-lined barn with a lot of space between tables

Lovely big barn conversion into a tea room, well thought out and great furniture. Food was delicious. My only criticism is there wasn't any menu's on the tables and the cakes weren't labelled in the cabinet. Not everyone likes to ask about prices or food availability. They have a secure paddock for dogs to run around off lead, which just needs booking online, which is a great use of the space they have. Fantastic first impression, we will be back!

Went two weeks ago with my family and small dog, and was pleasantly surprised at how spacious it is inside, with tables set well away from each other, which is a bonus when you have a territorial dog !! There were three adults and two children and we have brunch and coffees and drinks. £44 in all. Food is plentiful and excellent quality and staff are all helpful. They brought a bowl of water for my dog to the table.

Love this place and the people who work here. Whenever I’m in the area I always make time to pop in for breakfast or a coffee. I cannot think of anywhere better in the area if you want good quality food and drink.

Lovely pub with a nice atmosphere. Food & drinks very reasonable. Food very tasty, nice to find a pub with good wholesome food, and not a gastro-pub.
