I went to the chequers inn heverham with my mum today There today I had a hot chocolate and I really enjoyed it It was one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had in my whole life You do very lovely hot chocolates at the chequers inn heverham I am so glad that I tried your hot chocolate today because I really liked it because it was so lovely and warm The staff that work there are very kind and very lovely and super friendly and so very welcoming I had such a lovely experience today at the chequers inn heverham today with my mum The service there is very good and amazing and wonderful You have such comfy chairs not too hard I definitely going to be coming back to this pub and trying out your lovely food one day When I do come back to this pub one day I will give you a second google review and I give you another 5 star rating This place gets it's first 5 star rating by me Enjoy reading your first google review by me Have a lovely rest of your day 5 stars all around

Such a friendly pub, Sophie was welcoming and chatty from the moment we walked in and created a brilliant atmosphere. The food was delicious and filling with good portion sizes for a nice pub lunch. Would highly recommend

I’m sorry to say that with new management one of our fave local pubs has gone seriously downhill in terms of the food. Our Sunday roast was very small in comparison to how it used to be served. The chicken was cold, the gravy was cold and the roast potatoes were raw. The team behind the bar were apologetic and let us know that there had been other complaints. They offered to cook our meals again but we were too put off by that point.

Amazing pub. Picture perfect and totally delivered. The pub is absolutely charming. The food and staff make it a 10/10. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Will definitely return again for the Sunday roast . Keep up the good work

Nice pub however… Akward atmosphere, food was very disappointing. Burgers were mushy and didn’t taste good (one bite “I can’t eat that”) bland, funny texture side salad was clearly from a bag. Service was questionable, did not check on us to see if the food was alright. Did not know which burger was vegan vs meat (a problem encountered with the last owners), left one dish at the other end of the table after passing first dishes (had to stand up to go and get it). Insisted we pay upfront not uncommon but felt off. Only saving grace was the chips… would not recommend, would not return.

A beautiful country pub with a large beer garden. Kids climbing frame. They had chickens which were lovely but no longer have them.

This pub used to be one of our family's favorite. Sad to see some characters of the pub gone, the ground is still lovely. Food is disappointing for the whole family.

So much potential, such a shame. Easily one of the most picturesque pubs in the Sevenoaks area. Hands down one of the worst in the area for customer service. 20 minutes to order a drink… 45 minutes for a bowl of chips to arrive (after ordering two)… staff members walking out on each other… a total lack of staff or forward planning on what could otherwise be a blow-out success for such a glorious setting. Come on Chequers, we’re all routing for you!

Came for the music event. Nice guys playing good music in a good sized garden with a choice of seats. Stayed for a couple of hours, sadly overcharged once (without me noticing) but otherwise a good visit

Food menu was wrong. Didn't have some of the menu things. Ordered steak and ale pie, ham and chicken pie turned up - turned out the menu was wrong and staff didn't think to tell us when we ordered. Service was terrible and slow, like the waiter had no idea what he was doing. Atmosphere was terrible, quiet and weird. We got a refund for the food that was wrong. The food that we did get was good though although service was slow.

Guy behind the bar trying his best, but handed bottle of beer with the cap still on and a dirty glass to person before me. When I ordered food, half the options were unavailable so I decided on the Steak and Ale pie. When it came out it was Ham and Chicken pie?? No apology, blamed it on the menu being wrong.. never again.

Visited today and arrived around 12.15 to find it was closed. I had tried to call ahead and went to voicemail but with no mention on the message it was shut today. Ditto nothing on their web site nor Facebook. If this pub has closed then that is a huge loss and I sincerely hope not. But at the very least please provide the courtesy to your would-be customers that you are closed - even if is temporary.

Waited over qn hour for 2 scampi and chips. Went for a refund got told wait 10 mins for a manager to do as bar staff wasn’t allowed to. Then they didn’t even offer an apology or a suggestion they would compensation ie don’t worry we will take your pint off the bill either. TOTALLY shocking never go there

This has always been a favourite pub of ours which is why I had left a previous 5 star review and recommended this pub to so many people. Unfortunately things have really changed. We booked a Sunday lunch with family to celebrate a special 60th birthday but we had an awful experience. It was not busy but took so long to be served, only to find out there were just 3 meal choices available on the menu. Shame they hadn’t told us that when we arrived and had been given the full menu to choose from. We waited 40 minutes for our drinks. We placed our order then waited 1 hour and 15 minutes when we were eventually told that our food was not cooking yet and it would be another 40 minutes, which is therefore 2 hours after ordering. The toilets were out of order, so we had to use the outside ones which were not great. They were out of order when we had been there a few months previously. The wonderful staff who made the inn special were nowhere to be seen so have presumably left. The new staff were not sorry about the lengthy delays or about the fact our special birthday celebration was ruined. They did say we didn’t have to pay for our round of drinks but it was frustrating as at that time on a Sunday, and for a large family, there were no other pubs with availability for lunch. We ended up leaving the inn and collecting domino’s pizzas on the way home. Very disappointing for such a special occasion which we had booked months in advance. We used to be regulars but we will not be returning. I totally understand that circumstances can change when running a pub with a restaurant but surely the owners should have insurance to enable them to pay for more staff when in this type of situation.

Really gone downhill unfortunately. Used to be really good. Service very very slow and we were the only people in there, says it all. Limited menu, what we had was ok, that’s all I can say really. The guy that served us was sweet but didn’t really know what he was doing as only been there for 2 weeks and he was doing it alone.

The pub is in a small hamlet off the beaten track but great for walking from. We recently stopped there in a large group and were given a good welcome. The menu can be limited and can take a while to serve but it’s well cooked. It maybe above average price point especially as only main meals are available even at lunchtime.Nevertheless they coped well with a large group and we were grateful.

It didn’t work for us tonight. A short menu on offer, the chef was unable to verify the menu for allergens as he hadn’t prepared the food, and the one thing promoted as gluten free (the sausage and mash) was not available as they didn’t have the sausages. The offering tonight did not bear any resemblance to the reviews previously posted here. This pub has very serious problems, which maybe why we were the only two customers at 7.15 pm on a Saturday night.

Unfortunately they were struggling on mother's day to fulfill orders in a timely manner which ruined the experience for us. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beef roast.

We went on a Sunday - reviews looked great and their online menu said the Sunday roasts had a choice of beef or venison. Great we thought. First red flag was when we got there we were told they didn't do roasts and hadn't 'for a while'. When we pointed out that the menu online said they did their response was 'the online menu isn't a thing' which was a peculiar response. We were then given a one page menu with about 5-6 dishes on it (pie, chicken burger, sausage and mash etc). Given we'd travelled quite a long way we decided to stay - big mistake. We then waited 2 HOURS for the food. After 45 minutes we were regularly asking where it was and were continuously being told 10 more minutes. It wasn't just us - others were leaving without having their meals arrive (I wish we'd been more observant when we arrived). When the food did arrive it was ok - not great but fine. It was getting on for 16:00 so you could have served me a microwave burger and I would have wolfed it down. It's clear that their previous kitchen team/chef has left and they are clearly struggling in this department but they should have realised this and taken measures to not make it worse. They could have stopped taking walk-ins and only served food to booked tables. They could have warmed customers in advance of the extra long wait times - the fact they kept people in the dark is I think unforgivable and shows a lack of care/concern for the customers who have travelled to visit this country pub and don't expect a 2 hour wait from ordering to receiving the food.

Good solid pub dining. Staff are great. Food is great. Beer is great. All great really. Bit understaffed, but no problem for us, as not in a rush. Best pub in district.

Super lunch, excellent fish & chips and the small plates and sides are great too. Toilets were out of order but there was an accessible loo available. Friendly staff.

I have been here many times and the food, friendly atmosphere and the lovely staff never disappoint! I came with family last week for a Christmas gathering and we had a casual lunch, the food was to die for, as usual! We had the gaucho chips, salt & pepper squid, thai prawn crackers and my dad had the beef bourguigon....all was amazing! Such a lovely venue for a family meal or even just drinks - you must try it!

I just want to say this is one of the nicest places I have ever visited and I work all across the UK and have to eat at different restaurants daily , fantastic service , food was amazing :) I would highly recommend this place to everyone

Fabulous service, outstanding food - all freshly made. Nothing was too much trouble! Lovely atmosphere for our Christmas celebration with relatives visiting from Paris and Ireland.

The food and photos don't match what was on offer.The very limited menu of six main dishes was even more limited by the fact they didn't have some of the items on the menu.They didn't even have bread and butter! The dinning area was freezing we did to turn heating on but it was on and only one radiator was working.Then the nice girl lit the fire which ended up a smoking area and colder as they had to open the window.The dinning area was heating up as we left.Other two customers read the menu while complaining it was cold and walked out.We would have walked out too but our friends were travelling a distance and it was 8o'clock so a bit late to find somewhere else! The dessert menu was limited to three dessserts.Shame on management for leaving it to the two friendly staff to deal with this.Beautiful little pub such a shame.

A lovely warm welcome from Maria on a frosty night. Sat by the fire, drank unusually good mulled wine and had a very good hearty comforting meal, beautifully cooked by Dan. Would thoroughly recommend.

We went for the Sunday roast on 19th November 2023. The food is excellent, superbly cooked by Chef Dan. The family had a variety of starters and mains, the turkey, lamb and beef all proving extremely tasty and well presented. The vegetable side dishes were just right as well. The wine list is good and drinks are not overpriced. Overall, the meal itself is good value given the exceptional food on offer. I'd recommend booking in advance.

It's a nice quiet pub but needs a couple of sofas to keep it cosy.

Been here many times over last couple of years, food is amazing, on another level for pub grub. Lots of great events in summer months and food specials at weekends. We came here for the Sunday roast (last 2 Sundays in a row) with my mum & husband, it’s so welcoming and warm as soon as you arrive. Very friendly staff, warm fire, great selection of drinks. We had the Sunday roast, mum & I had lamb shank and hubby had beef. It came with Parmesan parsnips, giant Yorkshire, roast potatoes and seasonal veg, lashings of the most delicious gravy. Huge portions for the money and a very high standard considering it’s no more expensive than other pubs selling a bog standard roast. We returned the following week for the pork, it didn’t disappoint and the cracking was epic! One day we will manage to fit in dessert as have had them previously and they are great. Looking forward to return soon to try the festive menu. Can’t recommend this place highly enough, great laid back country pub done really really well.

We just visited and had the most delicious roast beef with freshly cooked vegetables, fantastic roast potatoes and plenty of gravy. Truly wonderful!

Went here for roast dinner with my husband. Staff is exceptional and the wine list was impressive. Roast was way too big, too saucy, too salty. Less is more sometimes. Will definitely come back after but will most certainly be ordering a different dish.

We had a lovely meal in the chequers last night, i ordered a spicy chicken fillet burger and my partner who is gluten free ordered fish and chip, the fish and chips were delicious, light crispy batter, moist cod flakes and home made mushy peas and tartare sauce, the burger was nice too but not as good, and although we loved the chequers, it was a little pricey at over £70 for a mid week meal for 2

Stopped here for lunch today. Wife had the chicken pie and I had fish and chips. The food was excellent. Would definitely go back for that alone. And next time we’ll book! We were very lucky to walk in and be able to get food. It’s a busy place and wait times for food can get quite long if you’ve not booked ahead. To top it off, the lovely ladies working behind the bar today were incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly. There’s a lot of parking available and lots of outdoor seating which is great in this lovely weather. It’s an hour round trip for us to go to this pub, but I’m sure we’d do it again having had such a great time there today.

I'm a frequent visitor to the Chequers in the summer months - can't fault it, the beer garden is massive and set back from the (very quiet anyway) road. Beer is looked after very well and the food is gutbusting and gorgeous!
