FANTASTIC place! Great food! We had mussels, sunday roast, truffled rissoto, burrata. It was all delicious! What a great find! Service was excellent too! Very quick and spot on at taking and delivering the orders. The pub was completely packed and that didn't affect the service. Nice ambience and beautiful pub inside and out! The surroundings are also lovely!

We had both lunch and dinner over the weekend here. Staff were excellent, food exceptional. We were a party of 10 and all enjoyed our meals. Good value for money too. Can’t fault this pub or staff at all. Well worth a visit

Excellent food with very warm and welcoming service. We had a small issue with the steak and our waiter sorted it with no questions or issues whatsoever. The chicken soup in particular which I had for my starter was delicious and hearty. This pub has been local to us for years but has been recently redone and is decorated beautifully and feels very cosy.

Very attractive country pub. Welcoming staff. Not busy on a Tuesday lunchtime in January. Has a great garden with an outside bar and pizza oven. Would be a great place to visit in the summer. Only downside - rather expensive. For two of us, for only two courses and a glass of wine each, the bill including service charge came to over £100.

Brilliant New Year Eve event. Great value for money

Excellent soup, one of the best I've had for a while. Only loses a star because it was a very small portion and came with no bread. Can you believe that? Otherwise top quality, definitely recommend.

Love this pub and been many time, and today was the first time having Sunday lunch, which was exceptional. Roast beef was so tender and vegetables all freshly cooked to perfection. Yum yum

Popped in for a drink on a walk. Odd service verging on rude- barman said nothing and just stared when my wife and I went up to the bar, stopped serving me halfway through my order to take someone else's, and tapped the top of the card machine without a word when it was time to pay. At least the place looks nice inside and out. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat.

Bar staff confused our booking with someone else's, and proceeded to tell us we had made the mistake. Extremely rude to us and made zero effort to help. My family will not be returning. Fortunately the Stag & Huntsman helped us out and we had a lovely meal there, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming.

Overall we enjoyed our meal at The Chequers. Good things; the atmosphere, and wine menu is excellent, the food was good with a mixture of local produce and meats. Areas for improvement; the staff on a couple of occasions took orders from us for an extra drink, and some horseradish, but neither orders materialised, guess they were busy and forgot, small detail but does stand out from the experience. We'll probably try again at some stage.

Great place and food, and, while the servers were attentive, it took way too long for the food to arrive at our table. We gave up on pudding after 20 minutes; they were good enough to offer it to us on the house, but it was a bit late by then. Update: we returned on a weekday and I've amended my review - great service & food this time. 🤤

Pretty gastro pub, right out in the countryside. Plenty of on site parking. In the summer good use is made of the garden for a drink or sit down eating. The food was very good, with something for everyone. Service was polite pleasant and attentive. I really liked this and will be going back when in the area again.

Had a lovely lunch here, staff were helpful and accommodated us when we wanted to switch tables. Food was good, we had pizza, fish and chips and chicken. Beware very tight lanes to get down here, but it’s worth it!

Lovely afternoon late lunch in the garden. Staff were very friendly and polite. Service was fast. Food was delicious! This was a very nice start to our holiday after 3 hours in the car. Highly recommend.

Came across this pub on a trip to somewhere else. Fantastic customer service , the food ( slightly pricey) was AMAZING!!! We ended up sharing a meal but it enjoyed every bit of it! Sat outside , bunch of guys sitting at a table very loud so we moved to diff table. People serving us could not have done a better job. Slight wait for our food but there has been a mix up & person serving apologised . We had not even noticed as it was busy outside so just thought it was taking slightly longer. Only negative as toilet seat was broken in men’s toilet -my husband brought it to the attention of the bar attendant who was a little dismissive about it. However we had a lovely time , great food , amazing service , lovely location , parking onsite , big beer garden. What is there not to like!!

Went here to round off a days experience present I’d bought for a friend. The food was fine and the staff are very able but not a feeling of welcome. Not a great experience to end what was to be a hopefully fun day with a friend

Chequers at Fingest had been on our list for a couple of times when we were @WhitePondFarm at Stonor. Arriving without booking we were kindly welcomed and allthough it was a busy Saturday evening we got a table rather quick. Staff was working hard but never in a hury, it al looked well organised and supervised. Cutlery and dishes spotless and clean, glasses shiny. You get a bottle of water per table on the house, which was very kind. On ordering we got sufficient information on what options and extras were available. We had the Chequers burger and the Super food salad. It didn't take long before being served our order, Drinks were very good (pints of beer and cider). We sat outside. Tables were standing with enough distance from each other to have enough space and privacy for our conversation. There is a large garden with a small playground for the children, a big private car park with overflow car park at the back and more than enough places to sit for small or larger companies. To finish up I had the Eton Mess, and in contradiction to the Eton Mess I just had a couple of days before (there was no Eton in it, just a mess), this one I really enjoyed, it tasted delicious. If you ever are in the area of Henley on Thames/Marlow area of wonder, then sure don't hesitate and go to Chequers in Fingest. Pre-ordering a table is recommended. On our walk we past Chequers the day after we had dinner and stopped for a drink. We can confirm our prior recommendation.

We arrived without a reservation to discover a huge daddy&daughter party had booked the restaurant. Fair play, if I had known how great the food here was I would have done the same,.I cannot fault their choice of location! The free parking behind the pub is a very nice touch. The staff were SUPERB, they let us know about the options from the main kitchen and the wood-fired pizza oven then made sure we had the best table available by offering us a move to a larger table when it became free. The food was equally wonderful. I chose the chipotle buttermilk chicken burger and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were exceptional. I'm only upset that we don't live closer.

We stumbled on the Chequers choosing somewhere at random to break a journey for lunch. It was a very lucky choice, it was heaven having lunch in the garden on a sunny day! The garden and pub are very picturesque, the garden tables are generously spaced apart with lots of room for our dog to sleep, the food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive.

It's a lovely pub had the set Sunday menu. Sat in the garden and had the roast chicken which was delicious. The young woman who served us was excellent and provided first rate service. I would highly recommend it.

there was a foreign woman who helped both me and my friend when we was lost at around 1am in an unfamiliar place. she was extremely helpful and polite, even pouring us both a free drink. whoever you are, thank you so much ❤️

Stopped off for a drink I'm.the sunny beer garden. Wasn't expecting much but lovely and cosy inside. Fire was lit, preparedness. Especially as the Easter weather was still a bit nippy. Impressed with the effort and the guy who was wearing a smart, pressed, button down shirt who asked us if we would like to eat with them today. Top notch. Pubs MUST go the extra mile and this place did. We will be back. Thank you for working over Easter and welcoming us today.

Second trip here in 4 months and both times it's been great. Service is personal and professional and the waiter we had on our most recent visit was a credit to the team. All in all excellent and we'll definitely be back.

Sunday roast was very good however we found ourselves slightly annoyed that 2 courses is a minimum and a 12.5% discretionary service charge now added. We like to choose whether to tip rather than the hassle of removing and then tipping if you wish. 2 courses as a minimum isn’t appropriate in a pub. The constant bass music drove me mad even though to be fair they did turn it down a little for us.

Friendly service and great menu.

The rabbit ended up looking like porridge no vegetables or side salad.I was not impressed.

Totaly love it here! Great food, helpful staff. Lovely open fires. Clean toilets (and to the kids delight complete with complimentary sweets and feminine products to use; a really nice thought if your caught short. Lots of lovely walks to enjoy nearby.

About all you would want in a pub

What a lovely place and awesome food. A shame the lager was of that day but the food more than made up for that. Gorgeous setting next to an incredible 12th century church that is always open for a look. All in all a wonderful gastro and historical experience!

This is one of the best pubs particularly in summer in the area!

Recently had a lunch here and it was brilliant. Great service, a cosy fire, good subtle music, nice food and a reasonable price. Look forward to returning again soon.

Lovely Sunday roast but the portion size of the meat is ridiculously small. For the price you would expect a more generous portion. Lovely pub but getting greedy with portion vs price.

Tepid roasts that we sent back which came back a smaller portion, ridiculously small portion of cauli cheese and potatoes to share between 7. Food tasted good but just wasn't great & service v clunky

What a great pub. Great decor, friendly welcome and the food was superb, pappardelle properly al dente, rich source. Fish and chips with wonderfully crispy batter and lovely tartar sauce. Good wine list too

Fish n chips for me and sirloin steak for my partner yesterday evening…. Both fantastic and delicious. Incredibly attentive and friendly service from the moment we stepped in the front door to when we left. Enjoyed it so much. Sat outside in the lovely garden. So relaxing. Brought our dog too who enjoyed pottering around. Looking forward to next visit

Excellent fayre opposite a brilliant church in a lovely village. What could be better Not a lot actually

I had been disappointed at this pub before but wanted to give it a second chance. Unfortunately the Sunday roast was disappointing again: beef was overcooked, potatoes were not crispy, and Yorkshire pudding tasted like it had been deep fried. The charcuterie board was advertised as 'Chilterns Charcuterie Board' but it was Parma ham and Chorizo. Shame as the pub is such a nice place; unsurprisingly there were not many people there despite the glorious day.

My bête noire is having to ask for my pint to be topped up.....

Great food, great service. We sat in the garden and ordered asparagus risotto and the fish and chips. Delicious. However, the best thing was… their Pimms!!!! Might have been the nicest Pimms I’ve ever had

Maybe just an off day but it felt like the restaurant side of things takes priority. Beef in the salt beef sandwich was very chewy.

Had a fabulous Sunday lunch, with all the family, 2 year old and baby in a buggy. They made the 2 year old food quickly, they brought extra Yorkshire for one of our group who was having pork and wanted a Yorkshire. Staff really friendly and helpful

We have eaten here several times, and love the decor and ambience. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. Sunday lunch was fantastic - busy but great atmosphere. Ate Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and delicious vegetables, including cauliflower cheese. Roast potatoes (usually hit or miss in a pub) were delicious.

Sunday lunch - very decent food: skate wings (Sunday roasts also available). Nicely cooked and a good sized wing portion. A decent country pub & quite well done out (recent re-paint). Slightly let down by very bass-heavy music which didn't help conversation. Would be 5 🌟 without the music.

This was our first visit to The Chequers Inn at Fingest and certainly won’t be our last. It had a lovely atmosphere with such friendly and welcoming staff. We chose the Sunday Roast and have to say it was one of the best we’ve ever had - the beef was so tender and the portions generous and full of flavour. We’ll definitely be going back and taking friends with us next time. Thanks to all the team at The Chequers Inn! A very well deserved 5*’s!

The food was nice but just needed to be hot, not lukewarm, a real shame as it could have been outstanding.
