The Chandos in City of London, Westminster

Lunch in central London, fresh food, fish and chips was good, also pie and mash, veggie curry we did not enjoy it that much

We called in here for coffee, then lunch and drinks, while out celebrating a friend’s birthday. The downstairs bar staff directed us upstairs because we wanted hot drinks, but once there we met with an inquisition by the bar person as to what EXACTLY we intended ordering before she would serve us! She informed us that if we did not order food immediately we would be being watched on cctv to ensure that we DID, otherwise we could not stay! She was rude, unwelcoming, intimidating and she killed the birthday atmosphere. We only stayed because we were going on to a theatre & time was tight. The food and drink we did have were very average and I would not ever consider returning there.

The pub was clean and tidy and the menu looked ok. After walking upstairs to find ourselves a table to have some food. The place was about half full. Maybe we should have taken that as a sign!! Service at the bar to order the drinks and food was quick and then we waited. Another gentleman after us came in and ordered just a bowl of chips and they arrived quickly for him. But then he took them back as they were stone cold and hard! They replaced them very quickly with another cold bucket of chips. He didn’t eat them and left. It was a sign. My son ordered “Bangers & Mash” and I ordered the “Avocado Nachos”. We then waited. Maybe they were having to go find the butcher to get the sausages. 🤷‍♀️ When the meal arrived the presentation of the Bangers & Mash looked awesome but the nachos looked overcooked. My son had the Bangers & Mash and said it was tasteless but was so hungry he ate it. He said it’s the worst meal he had in the UK for this trip. My Nachos had small amounts of Avocado, Salsa and sour cream placed over the oblong plate. The nachos were stale and it was all just bland. If you see this pub whilst in the Trafalgar Square area of London then just wagon by. It presents well, the staff were nice but the food lets it down 100%. Shame really.

Four of us visited this pub, which is next door to the Coliseum. It was surprisingly pleasant. The decor is very attractive, and the drinks available okay. It did get very budy, and was understaffed for a busy tine. .

Visited this pub just recently and was shocked to find my handbag had been stolen from right under my chair. It was a quiet afternoon and I was sat with a friend in the dining area upstairs at the end of the room with no pass-through traffic. I noticed a little while in that my bag had been stolen and reported it to the staff. I asked them if they could review the CCTV given we were sat right in front of it but their staff seemed very blasé and told me they can't look at the CCTV without a police report. In a very nonchalant manner I was told to phone the police to report it. I had to explain that my phone had been taken and if they could at least direct me to the nearest police station. I wouldn't go back here - from the staff reaction I gathered this was a regular occurrence.

Very popular local day n a very central location which is perfect for a few drinks after work and good pub grub to boot. Get there early enough to get a table as it gets very busy

Ci siamo imbattuti x caso facendoci ispirare dal locale esterno. Tipico pub con piatti english. Ottimo x qualità prezzo fish and chips. Si ordina e paga in cassa e ti servono ai tavoli. Accoglienti i camerieri

Super découverte du lounge "opera room" au 1er étage. Une ale pie & mash délicieuse, Burger très apprécié et une bonne pint rafraîchissante. Ambiance cosy et très agréable ! Adresse que l on aimerait garder jalousement 😃

My friends and I popped in for some pre-theatre drinks. It has a good range of drinks on offer and the staff are friendly. Not the biggest of locations, but a nice place to relax despite it being quite busy (Friday late afternoon).

Went to go and have lunch there today. Chandos is closed. No notice to say what is going on. Two people came out of the premises and said that it was closed. Maybe management could put up a notice informing patrons what is happening.

Arguably one of the nicest pubs in London I have visited. The pub serves the drinks brewed by the pubs owner, Samuel Smith's so there's none of the usual beers on tap. Just a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square you'll be most welcome.

Uscite dalla National Gallery abbiamo deciso di entrare qui: un po' perché il posto ci sembrava carino, un po' perché i poster con le opere di Puccini ci hanno incuriosite. Ambiente caloroso, cibo decisamente buono. Tipica gentilezza che abbiamo trovato in tutti i pub londinesi. Steak and Ale veramente indimenticabile.

Nous y avons mangé le traditionnel Fish & Chips avec notre fille de 10 ans et bue une bonne pinte de bière. Hormis le bruit, normal pour un pub, nous sommes très contents de cette adresse que nous recommandons à deux pas de Trafalgar Square.

There are lots of decent pubs in the area. None of them rival the Chandos for a combination of a decent sports offer & uncomplicated, delicious food. There's also a core of local & less unknown breweries stocked which is great.

Great local pub serving excellent pizza which you can wash down with a big selection of craft beers. Relaxed friendly, atmosphere. Regularly visit with two kids (3 & 6 year old). Major sport events shown on big screens.

10/10 lunch got the a great deal with each freshly baked pizza costing only 5 pounds each and big enough to take a few slices home would recommend to every 1 who loves pizza a real gem

Popped into this pub for the first time in about 30 years to meet a friend for a beer or two and have a pizza. Be warned, if you order an anchovy pizza bring a magnifying glass to locate the anchovy; there are so few of them you certainly wont taste them. To add to this for the second time in a month in this area I had a bad reaction when I asked for my pint to be topped!! This used to be a 'street corner boozer' and became a 'pizza pub' a few years ago; I wonder if it would have been netter left alone. Otherwise, the experience was fairly average; good range of beers, a real pizza oven, reasonable prices for pizza lunchtime mon to fri, beer a bit pricey, big enough for a reasonable but not big crowd for events. Just need to give some attention to staff training and putting anchovy onto anchovy pizzas.

Great pizza with vegan cheese on request, lovely kind staff and great range of craft keg beers , special 2 for one pizzas on Mondays.

Been a couple of times to watch football and enjoyed the experiences. Good selection of beers (we had Brockley Red and Beavertown Neck Oil), good atmosphere and, although we didn’t eat, the pizzas looked tempting.

Lovely to see this old local really turn it around under new management (well, about a year). They've installed a massive oven and offer yummiest local stone baked pizzas, fresh hot donuts and salads. Nice to see this tired old local turn it round.

Consistently good pizza - thin crust, semolina on base means no soggy bottoms, good tomato sauce and good combos of toppings. Great children's margarita pizza. A family favourite and long may it continue to be so.
