Popped in with my dad today whilst passing through the village. (don't know the area). Hands down the best cheeseburger I have eaten in years. Very reasonable prices and friendly staff. Would recommend!!

What a great pub. Tucked away in the lovely village of Oakley. Conor and Briony have a great team and the food was second to none. Good sized portions and cooked to perfection by Sean. Looking forward to our next visit. Second visit didn't disappoint, great atmosphere and the food only gets better. Wish I lived closer 😁

My family went an had a meal there on Christmas eve. My mum is on oxygen and they could not do enough to accommodate her to even saying they would not light the fire. The food was amazing. There was 7 of us and we all had something different and it was all perfect, you don't feel rushed at all and they do what they can to make sure your meal is perfect. Thank you guys x

We spent news year Eve here, lovely atmosphere and made very welcome. There was a fancy dress competition and a free buffet. Great music

Went here on a whim with some friends after a local walk. Dog was a bit muddy but staff were more than happy for him to sit by fire. 6 members of our group, all of us ordered something different, food took slightly longer than expected to arrive but was exceptional. All 6 of us cleared our plates. Staff were very helpful and we will be returning again, cannot recommend enough!

Called in on the offchance of a meal fairly late in the afternoon, a warm welcome and yes food is no problem, a lovely place and will surely return again soon.

Called in on our way home from Oxford to Manchester. What a little gem!! Fantastic welcome and brilliant atmosphere. We didn't have much time so couldn't eat but the menu looked fantastic. Not your typical pub grub , lasagne, home made burger etc . Definitely worth a detour!!!

A really friendly, cosy pub that is dog friendly. A great place to meet family and/or friends after a dog walk. The Sunday roast beef was very tender, cooked well and vegetables perfect. Home made apple tart and custard was fab

A wonderful little village pub only a stones throw from London. It’s ran by 2 brothers. The food was delicious and the landlords were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning.

Went to the Chandos for a curry night. 3 course home made set menu which was absolutely stunning from start to end. Service was impeccable with the staff making sure we had everything we needed. Great value for money. Great atmosphere. Great place. I will 100% be returning for some pork belly bites and a Sunday lunch.

The food ( three small plates plus one order of chunky chips) was certainly good. Although probably pointless to complain about piped music, I would have preferred not to have it right by my ear. The ideal sound for me is just the buzz of a busy restaurant. However for all I know, customers actually like piped music.

I was looking forward to a nice Sunday roast lunch out. If your looking for warm white wine, cold dinner, cremated roast potatoes and burn’t Yorkshire's than this is the place to go. When asked at the end of the lunch if everything was ok we complained about the food and we’re then presented with £100 bill with £3.60 discount. Insulted wasn’t the word. I’m not one to worry about what the bill is usually, but the way the manager/owner Mateo dealt with it was disgusting and I’m surprised he is in business at all. Pubs are going out of business everyday and we try to support our locals whenever we can. As a businessman myself customer service is key. I never give bad reviews usually and am not one to complain but this has really wound me up. It’s just unacceptable the way they dealt with our complaint. I won’t be going back and wouldn’t recommend it to others.

Stumbled upon this lovely pub last night. The food was great and the service was excellent. Apologies for the offensive low tip, I didn't have my glasses on and the decimal point is in the wrong place. I'll rectify that on my definite return.

We had a really nice dinner tonight ! We had the rump steak ,and the vegetarian aubergine "steak" plus some deserts. The food was very good , you could tell that they choose their ingredients with lots of care ,Chef did a great job. Also the service was very welcoming and friendly. We highly recommend this pub!

Hi there, don’t normally do this but thought I’d drop you a line complementing everyone for a lovely meal we had Sunday lunchtime. The food was banging, one off, if not THE best Sunday lunches we’ve had in a pub for many a year. The staff were fantastic, very attentive without being “in your face” and couldn’t do enough for us, a great credit to the management team who have obviously chosen their staff with care. Well done to everyone at The Chandos Arms, we hope to enjoy your hospitality again in the not to distant future, maybe even join you for afternoon tea as that looks lovely as well. My first review of the chandos arms was a one star review because of the awful ex owner and how rude he was. I have returned since new management took over who were extremily kind and accomodating to me and my family. And the food was lovely. I have therefore decided to change my review to reflect my recent experience and decided it was unfair to keep a bad review for a new buiseness and team. All the best, Lee and family

Amazing afternoon tea for my daughters birthday. Service was brilliant from start to finish. Lovely atmosphere. Cakes all made in house by the chef. Definetly recommend the Malva cake. Cant wait to go back again.

My family and I had an excellent meal on Sunday. I had the roast beef and the rest had roast chicken. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and we will definitely be back!

Was really looking forward to a lovely Sunday roast dinner, 2 out of the four of us had beef 1 person had pork and the other person had chicken. The beef was tough and chewy, the chicken was a leg of chicken which was unexpected with a roast dinner. The veg wasn’t up to standard. The whole meal was cold was sent back and only came back lukewarm and to top it off we tried the pudding and the custard and the sponge was also cold. Said to the manager about our meals being cold and his reply was: “everyone is entitled to their own opinion” glad to say we will not be retuning, very disappointed.

What a shame, lovely location. The food was incredibly saltiy. The chicken quarter was barely warm and accompanying salad covered in very salty components. My husband had fish and chips and the peas were rather dried out. The prices should indicate mid range well presented food. It's just my opinion, but feel well short. The staff however were very friendly and efficient.

Nice chocolate box location. The staff friendly and pleasant. The food was nice. As we hadn't booked there was limited options available to us for a Sunday. Booking had priority for Sunday lunch, they accommodated us having veggies with a battered fish. Unfortunately my friends tasted more of flour and had to be returned and recooked a fresh portion. We couldn't fault the staff they were apologetic and remedied the situation. However I was confused at the limited menu selection, when those who had bookings were given both menus to choose from and the three tables that were there when we were chose off the alternative menu and they could have been offered out the Sunday lunches. So I do recommend as very nice for a quaint visit but make sure you book!

Really interesting and excellent vegetarian Wellington (summer vegetables and grains) with innovative and tasty Sunday lunch trimmings (e.g. delicious red onion gratin). A real treat from this community owned pub recently rescued from permanent closure by the local parish council. Well worth a visit!

It was our first time at the Chandos arms and it will definitely not be the last!! Lovely location and amazing food. From the presentation of the food you can definitely say that the chef had passion and love for his job. Front of house was really attentive and friendly too, every detail did make the difference. Beautiful risto-pub.I went there yesterday and I ate the best fish and chips of my life. I suggest everyone to go there and enjoy a good lunch with your family or with your friends.

We were looking forward to a good meal at the Chandon, but all did not go well. We went on a Saturday night and there were more empty tables than full ones. They had a small menu which was fine, however there was also a lot crossed off because they had no supplies, hence there was only a small choice. My partner had a chicken salad, which was a bit sad. There was very little salad, and what salad she had had fish, which was specifically requested not to have. The chicken was also pink in some parts. My burger was just a bit dull, basic and inspiring. We left after this course to look for a supermarket. I have to say the staff were lovely and very helpful, and they refunded the cost of the salad, which was appreciated. I understand the owners are new, and I really wish them well.

Beautiful small country pub that's intelligently planned out, well appointed, and cozy. Has a wonderful outdoor swating area, and a genuinely friendly, knowledgeable staff. A must see if in the area.

Amazing experience at the Chandos Arms today, Highly recommend!

My son found this, and it was a winner. New owners have put together a short buy punchy menu with vegetarian and GF options that really work. I went for the chicken, which was magically tasty. The risotto on our table was incredibly pretty, and the art matched the taste. Thumbs up. Everything (almost) sourced within local area, and the local beer was crisp and fresh. Double thumbs up!!

Absolutely terrible “roast” beef. The nice interior does not match the poorly handled food. Don’t waste your money on this place. Dread to think of the state of the kitchen.

Thoroughly enjoyed a pub meal in the open-sided, heated marquee on Friday evening. Publican Stuart & his wife made us really welcome and made sure we were happy with the covid-safe seating location. Their well-trained staff kept an eye on our glasses and asked if we wanted a refill before we had to ask (good business, that!). We went for trad pub fare because we hadn't had scampi & chips for a year but there was a wide menu and very nice sounding specials. All very nicely presented and good service. Very tasty too. Greene King IPA....what's not to like?!

Visited a couple of weeks ago with friends for A Sunday Roast, was the first time we'd been out to eat a Sunday Roast since before lockdown, so was a bit worried, but there was absolutely no need Stewart and Dawn had it all under control, was abiding by all the Government rules and made it feel so 'normal' in these strange times - have to applaud them for that! The service could not have been better, staff wearing masks at all times and kept checking if we needed anything more whether that be food or drinks. The food was as I remembered - delicious and plenty of it. Won't hesitate to go back again and soon!

I have never been to the Chandos Arms and cannot therefore comment directly on the food or service. However, I know a lot of people who have been who have always praised it highly. From what I've seen (and heard) the food looks delicious and beautifully presented. My reason for writing is because I read the review complaining about being asked to wear a face mask when entering the premises. Does that customer not know that the current law stipulates that masks must be worn in pubs and restaurants when moving around and entering/leaving? Such people are putting the health and welfare of others at risk. I have every sympathy with the proprietors of the pub in doing their best to ensure the safely of everyone.

Absolutely delicious roast! We also ordered many roasts for delivery during lockdown and despite the journey the food was still piping hot and brilliant quality! Thank you Stewart and team! We will be back!

The go to place for a fabulous rost ! We have been going to The Chandos Arms since Stewart and Dawn took over. It really comes down to the quality of their produce and their customer service. I've seen them at their busiest and still everything comes out piping hot and delicious and always with hospitality you'd really expect. Covid-19 regs are expected so don't go if you don't want to wear a mask if your bum isn't on a seat but I want to know where I'm eating takes this seriously. Gorgeous food - if you haven't already - go soon !
