Our favourite gastropub in the area - we live in Queen’s Park and are lucky enough to have some great options to choose from but The Chamberlayne is hands down the best, from the atmosphere and decor to the drinks and food (*excellent* Sunday Roast). A special shout out to the incredibly kind and attentive staff - it wouldn’t be the same without them! Highly recommend!

Excellent service from Paris today in a virtually empty pub on a Saturday afternoon 😃. Nice IPA as well but can't remember the name. Great discounted Margarita's on Thursday night's. 🍹

A lovely super quick drop in and first time here, the staff were sooo lovely, attentively got our food order to us so quick as we had to eat and go to get our train from the other side of town…. The food was sooo good… the atmosphere and decor was lovely too. Will definitely put this on the list of returns…. Thank you, ❤️

Great atmosphere, my husband and I were served by a lovely lady called Lilly. We were extremely impressed with her professional service and friendly nature. Great food too! We will definitely be back!!

Nice aesthetics, good pub with more formal restaurant to the back. Very nice staff and good menu. Despite it being exceptionally quiet (only people in dining room so athmos was limited!). Starter was tasty, we then waited well over an hour for our main course, which was okay when it arrived (burger was very pink, we weren’t asked how we like it). I think there was a mix up but the server didn’t say anything, nor was there an apology. Their white wine selection was a little spendy and the one we wanted wasn’t available. The dining room could do with better ventilation and on hot days with the kitchen effectively in it, tip would be to sit out on the terrace instead as it was uncomfortably stuffy. Maybe we caught it an off day, it was a little disappointing overall.

Really only went because I needed the loo before meeting a friend but found the staff so friendly and the ooen area so comfortable that I stayed and will definitely return!

Great place to meet and have a drink, not so sure about the food as service becomes a little pushed when its busy and the wait increases significantly. Ordered two meals and whilst they were both fine it was disappointing one arrived about 10 minutes before the other, which spoilt the experience somewhat. Pub is clean, efficient bar staff but can get busy so getting a table probably means booking to be certain. Toilets clean. Be aware the pub is card only. In terms of cost I'd say theres a 10 -15% premium on other pubs in the area, none of which claim to be a "gastropub" as The Chamberlayne does, so bear that in mind. My advice, if you want to eat, book a table for early evening and then enjoy a few drinks post meal as if it does get busy the service may suffer.

Was there on a quiet Monday night. Good was exceptional. Had the chicken pie and have to say it was the best looking chicken pie I’ve ever seen and it was bloody delicious too. Mash and veg also great and the chicken jus/gravy was a delight. Bravo.

The food is pretty good, the drinks are pretty good - the dude at the bar wasn’t really helpful and kinda rude. I give every place 5 stars tbh so this is quite telling of how this interaction ruined the vibe.

Food and pints were a good value for quality. Mixed drinks were a bit on the pricey side (£11 for an Aperol Spritz). Kind of worth it for the outdoor seating though.

Rude staff and place doesn’t take cash. I do not understand in 2024 why businesses don’t take cash. Absolutely stupid. I always tip in cash and money is money. Why??? They staff literally admitted they don’t want to take it because it’s easier not to but also said it was the management’s decision. Don’t get it. Sounds like laziness to me. Also the burger was so average - def felt like a frozen patty. Chips were decent but overall a really lame experience.

No free extra gravy offered despite my polite if somewhat officious demands: is there no salvation for the cheeky whims of Faiz to be found anywhere in indapub? But this time no fear, for no lawsuits to be submitted by the persecuted party (me\I). This isn't to imply cuckoldom would appear and refuse to placate me (they can't do otherwise) but that my mental age has dropped even lower and my parents refuse to submit the claim for me. I would say, as a compromise and a token of good will (gestures are too immaterial), I expect free apologies from all staff and free bespoke roasts for a few months. Thank you in advance. Added for your edification and correction, what my free extra gravy would look like.

Me and my partner work in the area and we must say out of all the gastro pubs nearby this has to be our favourite! From the amazing food to the stylish decor the service from both the bar staff and the kitchen team are always outstanding. I often speak to both of the chefs and I must say talking with Chef Nate is consistently refreshing. Chef Nate is always upbeat and clearly loves what he does, he is always smiling and makes it a great vibe every time. Not to mention he makes the best Chocolate fondant! The food is always amazing—I couldn't recommend him and this place enough!

The French onion soup was superb! My father enjoyed it so much on Saturday evening that last night he returned in a taxi in the pouring across London to enjoy it all over again!. He said please do keep it on the menu all summer! Thankyou. Warmly, Sarah.

Went five times in the last year or so, twice very recently, and always food was mediocre at best. Undercooked risotto, chewy steak, tiny portion of monk fish on a sea of beans… crumble insignificant. I don’t know why a gastro pub has to make a bad version of Italian dishes instead of focusing on good quality British classics.

Food menu slightly bizarre compared to old favourites. And why do they persist in debatable music. I don't want music and probably the employees don't either.

The apartment is great for one person, but for three people the view from the windows is too small, the view from the windows is not interesting, there are only graphics on the wall, maybe it is a standard for London, but for Poland it is not good. The restaurant has the same prices as in every London pub.

I made a reservation for Sunday roast with my husband. We’ve never been before but have heard so many great things from the locals in neighbourhood. Our reserved table was basically in the middle of the restaurant next to the bar so we asked if we could move to another table. We were told no but 15mins later 2 other parties arrived and had their tables moved around. We weren’t asked if we wanted a drink so I went up to the bar and got my own. We left right after. It was a disappointing experience overall.

I had a Sunday roast here, at £27.50, for the beef roast I was expecting a good plate of food..... the meat was still mooing... (raw). I love medium rare... however this was completely rare. The potatoes were triple fried and hollow.. 1 carrot.. a tiny bit of savoy cabbage and 1 brocoli stem... I definitely will not be back for a roast, The staff are welcoming and helpful... toilets are a pain to get to...

Only hear for the food and vibes but everything was so nice. The staff were amazing and the food was really delicious. Tasty roast chicken, finished off with a dreamy chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream. Even the Guinness was one of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Such a cosy spot with great lighting/atmosphere, somewhere I’ll be coming back to again and again.

It’s like Soho house but cooler!! Super cosy, lighting just perfect and staff/service warm, attentive and friendly. The roast we had was just perfect. Every aspect of it, presentation to taste was spot on. When you think the place can’t get any better, the Diet Coke turned to Guinness and it complimented the most delicious chocolate fondant. Most tasty Guinness I’ve had in a long time. Even the chefs are just as chirpy when I came back from the toilet. Clearly a very well ran establishment and can’t wait to come back.

I ordered food here a few days ago for lunch and was completely satisfied with everything. The pie was lovely and so was the service. I was told the chef cooking was called Nate, would highly recommend to eat in.

We ordered the chicken pie and Sirlion Steak, pie was delicious and steak was perfectly cooked. Because it’s an open kitchen I was able to thank the chef Nate, very polite young man with a lot of talent and passion we will be back!

I recently dined at The Chamberlayne Gastropub Kensal Rise and had an outstanding experience. The atmosphere was delightful, the service impeccable, and the highlight was undoubtedly the incredible culinary creations by Chef Nate. His skill and creativity elevated the dining experience to perfection. I highly recommend this establishment for a memorable gastronomic journey.

While the music was a bit too noisy for me on a Friday night, it's a fun hip place with good food and beer. Perfect for the younger crowd with better hearing!

Decent enough pub with a nice range of drinks and food. When we got there we unfortunately timed it badly as the staff were busily engaged in deep conversation about a very important topic...... sorry to interrupt. After an hour or so two other staff arrived and they were excellent. Part if a small chain. Worth a quick visit

This is a overpriced low quality revamp. I bought 3 x double Dalwhinnie whiskys for £54 (£18 per double). This was a basic Dalwhinnie bottle priced at about £25, so nothing special. If pubs like this rip off their customers this will soon have no customers left.

Had a really well cooked delicious Sunday roast beef here today, I may never have a Sunday roast beef anywhere else again! Perfectly pink without being bloody and vibrant veg, I never had a baked carrot cooked as good!! Skipped desert for an espresso martini, what an absolute treat!! Can’t recommend enough and a huge thank you to the attentive and friendly waiting staff!!

In for a couple of drinks. Annoying that, like many places, there is no seating for non-smokers. Inconvenient that cash is not accepted. Other than that, an ok place

This place has a very nice vibe and I enjoy going there. The food was just ok at my last visit. My friend and I shared 6 different starters. The parmesan croquettes tasted quite bland, they didn't have a distinctive parmesan taste. The bufala was quite nice, both in terms of flavour and how it was plated. I mean, it was alright but can be better. I think the menu lacks of vegetarian options. Service was attentive and friendly,

I’d despite the high stars in the assigned categories. I’d say the food is slightly too expensive BUT the beef sunday roast was amazing and a properly good pint of Guinness. Solid food, quality drinks but the bills just a bit too high.

Stopped by with Guy , and had a legendary beef carpaccio, and a great crab . Guy’s sirloin steak was good, delicious sauce , proper chips . Service , perfect . Atmosphere happy . Highly recommend this as a local , or a treat . We will be back . 🍷

Its a pub nearby to me but the staff are awful. Not really sure why they're so terribly mannered, considering the price I'm paying. My own mistake for going again after a previous bad experience. Lots more choice around, avoid here.

Overpriced! Bone marrow, one half bone for £12... you can get a wonderful portion of two large bones with salad at £9.50 nearby!!! They charge £19 for a burger. No wonder it's quite empty and hardly anyone eating. I used to go there years ago and was hoping I could come back. No way!

My partner and I just had a delicious meal at The Chamberlayne. We met there 7 years ago and today was our anniversary. The staff were lovely and very attentive to detail, incl. a complimentary glass of Prosecco, which was a really nice gesture. We love this place and glad it is back.

Overpriced. Food and service ok but prices needs to be readjusted ! The Hillgate in Notting Hill, which is part of the same group of pubs, is better and less pricey for example.

New management. Excellent option now. Much improved and back to original name

The cocktails they offer are a total scam. They half the normal amount of alcohol in all the cocktails so you're paying £12.50 for one shot of tequila in a margarita - margaritas require 2 shots. Same with the espresso martini - they double the coffee and only include 1 shot of vodka. When we asked the bar staff about it they said that's just the pub policy. So the pub policy is to scam people!? Never going back.

Lovely staff, girl in the blue shirt was very polite and recommended us the lamb special which was brilliant! Can’t wait to try some more dishes. Amazing service.

Came to the pub earlier today, it was looking nice and modern was looked after by a very nice tall young lady wearing white t shirt with vest she was very friendly and attentive will be back for sure!!

Partner and I were regulars when it was The Rise and went for dinner at The Chamberlayne for its opening night. Food was fantastic - highly recommend the Poussin(chicken), lemon & tarragon sauce. Our waitress was lovely and very helpful! Especially given that she seemed to be the only waitress for both the restaurant and the pub. Great atmosphere and looking forward to going again in the near future.

Excellent food and place/location BUT they need to brush up on service. It definately could be better... Teachnical issues: cash machine wasn't working as till didn't open on this day. After being served, we realised that they brought us double sides and we also got charged for these. Refund accepted obv, thankfully! Whilst by the bar, I witnessed another customer complaining he got served the wrong beer. Later on, my partner ordered a drink. One hr later, they still hadn't brought it... By that point it was time for us to leave anyway... I understand that mistakes happen but this was just one thing after the next. Maybe next time will be better.

It got much better after the refurbishment, I have increased the rating to 4 stars now, the pizzas are excellent, delicious!

Food was scrumptious! Will deffo be returning and recommend a visit. One star knocked off for the asked side plates, which were brought over at the end of the meal. And couldn't really taste the truffle on the truffle pizza.

Shocking ! We came here for meal and drinks and chosen table outside- it was dirty full of dust and black and we asked to get it cleaned - service team member said to choose other table if we can instead of wiping it which we asked for 4 times !!! We decided to leave

Great staff makes a great pub. I know this pub from years ago and It has been always a great place to eat out or have drinks with friends. Last Sunday we have done our baby shower party and everyone had a great time. Congrats to Raff, Connor and all staff for the great service you provide to your customers. Well done! Having been to this pub a number of times i can compliment the atmosphere, vibe and good range of drinks but the staff continue to be inconsistent and seem to have their favourite customers. The young chap who served me never even spoke or made eye contact with me when passing me the drinks - i was also unimpressed that he served another customer (much younger and more attractive than me) in the middle of preparing my drinks. Will not be returning as The Island and Whippet have much better customer engagement and banter.

This pub is amazing. Raff is always welcoming even when the restaurant is really busy and we don't take this for granted. The food was really good as usual and we cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you are looking for a place to eat or to spend time with friends or family, go for it!
