I went to the Chalet last Saturday and waited like an invisible person for over 5 mins to be served with not so much as a good morning, we will be with you soon, I was just ignored. I walked out and said nothing. (Not wanting to be sarcastic!!!) I gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned this morning. Well please come back the Chalet, because what i bought today was absolutely disgusting. I bought the following: Croissant: It tasted like it was made from rubber. Small Bloomer: heavy, not like I like a bloomer, its gone in the bin!!! Cornish Pasty: the biggest disappointment, I was really looking forward to this treat for lunch. It was as dry as a bone, empty inside and extremely under whelming. From here on in, I will vote with my feet and not bother. Sort it out the owners, its is a rip off and a pretence as you are trading under the previous owners good will and intent. Its just NOT working.

Disappointed with dry bread for bacon sandwich. Cheese pickle roll £4.00 very over priced. Turned away elderly lady customer as card payment only.

Like many of the other recent posts on Tripadvisor, I am really disappointed with the Chalet since it was taken over by the Artisan Bakery. It has gone downhill in so many different ways. The friendly, helpful staff all seem to have left with a very surly bunch replacing them. The food menu used to be fantastic with lots of variety and an excellent breakfast offering. This has all now been replaced by expensive, tasteless "artisan" sandwiches. The bread and pastries are nowhere near as fresh as they used to be. I assume they are all shipped in now rather than baked on site. The bread may now be "artisan" bread, but it tastes rubbish compared the boring, old "normal" bread! The cafe used to be busy all of the time and now I hardly see anyone in there. It is such a shame that a well-loved local bakery has turned out like this.

We have been getting our bread from The Chalet for years and it was amazing. Our favourites were the granary loaf and the seeded bloomer. What has happened to it since it changed hands. No more granary 😞 just ‘harvest’ which is awful. We bought a small seeded bloomer yesterday and it was inedible. The crusty rolls were stale and very dry inside. I think it is trying to be modern and up market forgetting all the old loyal customers. Such a shame. We def won’t be frequenting it again having given it quite a few chances. Back to supermarket bread unfortunately as there isn’t another baker in the area (apart from Coughlans) in Kingswood village which is not worth visiting in my view.

Oh dear what has happened to this once great bakery. I am a regular customer for sandwiches to take out at lunchtime. On the last three occasions the sandwiches have been awful. What once were great sandwiches in lovely granary bread with plentiful fillings is now drab, boring tasteless food and the fillings are meagre. Thought I’d give them one last chance today but it was again awful , and this time there was a human hair in my sandwich. Won’t be using The Artisan Bakery any more.

I get most of my bread and pastries from the Artisan, and in my opinion it hasn't changed in terms of quality and pricing. since changing ownership after Christmas. I find the staff always friendly, and the selection of bread and pastries good, if you don't go there late morning. Even when I have purchased bread, which I would not normally choose as my preference wasn't available, it is always of good quality and price. I've also had lunch and coffee with my wife at the end of January, and it was excellent....

Whilst not a regular, I have visited The Chalet on a number of occasions. I have yet to be disappointed. The food was good and, whilst there was a short wait for our meals, this was not a problem. My visits were social and, as such, time was not of the essence.. I have not classed as excellent as I believe there is always an opportunity to enhance the offering. However I will not hesitate to visit again.

Since changing hands the service and friendly staff have left as well. The service is slow and seems a chore for some if the staff. I have found each week you can be charged a different price for coffee and cake (the same coffee & cake) it's ranged from £7.20 to £ 9.10 the next week, £7.90 the following week, each time you have to question the bill.

I had lunch at The Chalet with a friend today. A change of ownership - my rating is generous. I have always enjoyed my Tuna Mayo & Salad Sandwich (as stated on today's menu). Today it arrived with no salad, on a warm plate. No garnish and when I asked about the Salad "we don't do that anymore". No, but you've not lowered the price, have you? No napkin. The plate looked most unappealing and a lower quality mayonnaise. Service wasn't too good either, only two waitresses which obviously wasn't enough. To the Owners - not a good start and didn't enjoy my lunch.

The Chalet's Jam Doughnuts have always been 'Simple The Best'. Not any more. Last Saturday I purchased a Jam Doughnut and a Jam Tart. I am not exaggerating when I say there was just one small dot of jam in the doughnut. Unbelievable - how could you do this to me? The pastry of the Tart was overbaked too. Now, I've heard on the grapevine that we have new owners of the Chalet. If this is true - a word of advice - up your game. This is the first time I have ever been disappointed with The Chalet.

The Chalet has a monopoly around Tadworth as the only bakery in the area and as such, do not put in much effort re having sufficient stock on their shelves. You can be at the bakery at 9.00 and there won’t be a croissant or pastry available??!!?? Other times they have run out of cakes/rolls before 10.30. The cafe is always busy and if you need bread/pastries you may have a bit of a wait to be served as the staff are busy with in house customers. All in all, they could do with some good competition being in place locally, as then they may step up to the plate and provide a better service. Let’s hope they take note of these comments.

Really disappointing service today. Ordered two loaves of bread, one was dropped on the floor by the member of staff who served me. She seemed surprised that I wanted a different loaf, as did her colleague. Some nonsense about having stopped it from hitting the floor with her shoe but no apology, obviously. The replacement loaf from the kitchen hadn't been sealed properly and ended up all over my shopping bag. Not the first time I've been disappointed by the The Chalet's customer service and hygiene standards. Rubbish effort.

I visited The Chalet Bakery with my daughter as we were in Tadworth and fancied a coffee break. I had a delicious gingerbread latte and my daughter had a hot chocolate and we both had a toasted fruitcake. This was served with an individual serving of butter and a small pot of jam, either strawberry or raspberry was offered. The cake tasted very fresh and was perfectly toasted. Our drinks were lovely and were served very quickly while we were deciding what to eat. The atmosphere was very friendly and the staff were both efficient and lovely. Our total bill was £9.00 which we thought was excellent value. The actual shop part of the business was quite busy but this did not impact on our stay at all. The produce for sale looked lovely and very tempting and I am sure we will go back. I would definitely recommend a visit to The Chalet.

Came for some breakfast & it was okay to be honest. Only had poached egg on toast but it took a very long time considering it wasn’t too busy either. Also got a hot chocolate & it wasn’t even stirred properly either. So overall okay

Small community pub with lots of locals. No sky tv. Ideal for walking to. Rear garden.

Halal only, no pork based food at all, once again religious beliefs ruin what was once a decent cafe, never visit again...

Disappointing A group of 10 friends for Christmas style food. Firstly, we asked for no sauce on fish for my husband when we pre ordered food. It arrived with the sauce, and ge had to wait at least 20 mins for new food. By this time, the rest were nearly finished. Dessert, 3 ordered chocolate and raspberry with ice cream thing, nice, but it went wrong at first attot a.d we had wait another 15 mins, again rest were nearly finished. Dessert was nice. Those that had Christmas pudding said it was just warm and pretty small. Manager was on his own and kept disappearing, no idea where too. He was pleasant enough and apologised for the couple of 'little mishaps', group left a tip which we probably woildnt have, thought they could have at least gave a complimentary drink or some small gesture. It those small tokens that encourage return guests. Overall nice night due to company but very poor service and lack lustre re food quality
