The Centurion in Colchester

Had a fab visit last Saturday staff welcoming pub lovely and clean. Sat outside food menu brilliant loads to choose from ordered and it arrived really quickly and hot. Liam served us and he was lovely he managed to get our very confusing order spot on. He gave us excellent customer service and we would definitely recommend a visit.

Love it here great for sport superb deal if you like wings on a Wednesday and some decent craft beers

I visited The Centurion for the first time tonight and I have to say I was blown away by the sheer quality of my experience.A lot of pubs these days are far too satisfied with mediocrity, but you won’t find that at the Centurion! A wonderful warm greeting was accompanied by a gorgeous atmosphere that let me know that I was in for a treat of a night in a wonderful setting.I ordered a drink assisted by thoughtful staff recommendations and my gin was delivered, looking rather snappy, in a perfect glass, topped with ice and garnish. I know it may not seem like a lot but many places skip on details like glasses and garnishes, a touch I think is often lost in the modern day.I stayed for a few hours and unfortunately could not grab a bite on this occasion, but I’ll be back in the future with friends to see what else The Centurion has to offer!

We were very late on deciding to eat out on Bank Holiday Monday, we managed to get 2 tables here as we were a family of 7, basic menu, mainly burgers, cheap & cheerful meal, nothing special. This maybe down to COVID. Staff friendly & helpful, not sure if we would return again.

Be careful here .... bought two identical drinks and was charged different price .... only 50p difference but there is a principle at stake here ... feels very wrong ...

Wow. Centurion has to be my favourite place to hang out. Good drinks, great atmosphere, a loyalty scheme, loads of things on during the week incl. 25p wings on Wednesdays (chicken and vegan). The vegan options are fantastic, it is so so refreshing to be able to have a choice on the menu. I think they currently have around 13 vegan options? I would personally recommend the B12 burger, with smokey soya fries. And the torte is so delicious. The staff are always so friendly too. The only issue is the sports can get a little loud at the weekend but that is a small price to pay for the rest of it all.Good job guys!

Good solid range of ales here, probably one of the better places in colchester for a good atmosphere

This place is fast becoming my regular haunt. If you get the more reward card it works out great in the long run. Basically your getting 10 percent cash back on your food and drinks and sometimes discounts or free stuff. Menu varied and great for vegetarians and vegans. Never seen such choice for veggies. Wing Wednesday is my favourite day. Love going with mates to watch the footie with a mountain of wings. Atmosphere is good, decor is vibrant. Loving it!

Been working and visited on a Saturday for some food late on. The bar as busy, but the service was good. The choice was pretty good too. When it arrived, our order was hot, and very good. Burgers and Mac and cheese. Beers were fine too. Would go again

Busy Saturday afternoon and wanted to find somewhere to eat so decided to try out The Centurion. The burger with mac and cheese I would certainly recommend. The staff are very polite and the venue itself is really nice. The toilets sorta let itself down and could perhaps do with an upgrade but otherwise I’d recommend this place if you’re visiting.

Came here for a pint Saturday afternoon, service was good and decent selection of drinks, not the cheapest Though. Played pool and was watching some of the football and cricket which were on the TVs. Toilets were decent and seating areas are nice.

a couple of weeks ago we asked if we could a smaal section of the pub to hold a small rec for 10 people all i can say the staff here are amazing they mananged to get a keg of our favorite craft cider and when we arrived we was greeted with a huge balloon and banners and wedding confetti which was not expecting just wan to say a huge thank you in helping making our day one to remenber they even played our favorite music

Very disappointing, wing Wednesday is trash, had to wait over half an hour for wings and staff are rude. The wings are crispy and dry. Pancake Tuesday, also trash, dryest pancakes I’ve had in my whole time on this earth. Payed 50p for I’d say 3ml of syrup. Pancakes were chewy and we saw the woman touching them before they took it to a table. Didn’t give me a fork when food came. Bowl was too small for the pancakes, they hung over the edges! Waiter quite literally threw the fork down on the table. Had to wait at least 10 minutes at the bar for someone to serve us when it wasn’t even busy. Very disappointed.Side note an old man perved on me and tried to chat to me and it was literally the middle of the day.

I've been to this bar for food many times and each time the food has been great and the service reasonable, the last time I went, the service was not great and the food came without cheese when it said on the menu it has cheese in it, I'm guessing the restaurant has a bad day so I'm hoping this was a one off because I really do like this place! I think the decor is great and the food choices are awesome.

This is my favourite bar in Colchester. They have a very settled team of staff who are knowledgeable about the products and always seem to enjoy working there. A great range of beers that change on a regular basis and varying offers throughout the week.

Went to the pub with my wife to watch the football the pub was packed with a great atmosphere. My friend which wasn't planned walks in with his girlfriend

We cannot thank this girl enough she was polite brought our food to us ,but why she was so special is because we left a bird calendar and diary when shopping and we had left it there ! As wouldn't be back to Colchester for 3 weeks we rang centurion kaley had spotted it on table put it away in lost property and put our name on it to collect at a later date!which we did ,this place is full of honest people like her and let's be honest,honesty does pay off we have since been back not just because of that the food was amazing especially the sharers,we couldn't eat it all so kaley wrapped it up in tin foil to take back to hotel rather than waste it! What a bonus we finished the rest with a cup of tea in the evening and food still tasted just as good.so to all the staff who run an excellent place thank you very much and see you in November when we return for another weekend break in Colchester,and a tip to all visitors at the centurion don't waste your food if you are full get them to wrap it up for you to take away ! Great fresh tasty low priced grub and decent friendly efficient service.

Went here as I heard it had been revamped and has a vegan menu. The menu is really good and fills a big gap in the market for vegan comfort food in Colchester. I would recommend it to anyone, vegan or not, as it is a modern pub with friendly staff. It is a little expensive for drinks but that wasn’t a huge surprise as it is clearly trying to market itself as more cool, modern and a tiny bit upmarket.

We went to visit The Centurion after recommendation as it has a brand new vegan menu. The food was absolutely delicious and we got the vegan mac and cheese and couldn't fault it at all. However, the prices are quite high, with the food coming to £7.50 and then a single can of rubicon taking the order to over £10, I was really quite shocked. The service was average, and the music was pretty bad with no current songs. A really nice place, brilliant food, lots of potential but expensive for what it is.

First visit to Centurion, the appeal was hearing it to be dog friendly which was definitely the case! We popped in for some drinks and shared a dessert, which was Vegan friendly and amazing! Our pup who is only little got 5 star service just like us with stuff providing her her own bowl of water and a selection of treats.
