DO NOT EAT HERE!! As a family of 11 coming in today I’m absolutely appalled at the food that was served!! The food stank!!! It smelt of sweaty feet, the gammon was stone cold, the roasties were the only nice thing on the plate! What a waste of £14!!!! I swear they got the gravy out the toilet. When the girl asked was everything ok I said no she said ok and walked off!!!

Walked past and decided to pop in for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was hot, good portion size and good value for money. Tables were kept clean and tidy. My only slight criticism was I had to ask for toilet roll for the ladies toilets as all had run out. So just a bit more attention to detail is needed.

We visited here for lunch with family. To be honest I wasn't really expecting much after reading some reviews. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised!. The food was really lovely. My husband and myself had a burger, and the mother in law at scampi. The burger was exactly homemade and full of flavour. The only thing was the chips. There were thin, and the mother in law had thick chips. She prefers thin chips, so we just swapped. Not a 3rd world problem at all. We would definitely visit again. The food really was good.

We are locals and have always swerved this pub due to it's bad reputation. However we were aware of the new management and refurb so decided to venture in just for a lunchtime beer on a very hot day! We were very pleasantly suprised. The refurb is great and the food looked good and nothing was left on plates. We would have had lunch here but we had eaten a hearty breakfast at home. We will be back soon for food and to support our new favourite local!

Where do I begin - mid July and place was dead, but no surprise when I saw menu - not catering for normal everyday seasiders and local elderly residents/dog walkers. Prices steep for a lunchtime and no suitable quick, reasonably priced snacks such as toasties, sandwiches or everyday food. Kiosk across road doing roaring trade selling what public want at better prices. No atmosphere and deathly silence reminiscent of a library!! Toilets need repair and updating for such a key location - I really thought I might be in a parallel universe as this isn't norm surely for mid July ??!! Buck up and know your customers or it will be a long summer with no chance of survival in future

We called at the pub for a meal and ordered the battered fish, chips and mushy peas. At £15.95, it was a little pricey but being a sea side pub we were looking forward to a hearty seaside meal. The service was good and the order was promptly taken and food delivered in good time. However, when I saw the size of the portion we were really disappointed. The size of the battered fish was about 5” in length - my brothers fish was slightly longer. The portion of chips were meagre and the mushy peas, which were on the dry side, sat in a small dollop at the side of the plate. I know people will say we should have complained at the time but the pub was getting busy and time was against us, as we were due elsewhere shortly after. On reflection we should have sent our food back, got a refund and found a chip shop around the corner but we didn’t. We did make our feelings known when our plates were collected. Would I go here again - certainly not. If they are going to serve reduced sizes or ‘pensioner portions’ ( which is what it felt like ) then the prices need to reflect this.

We visited here on Sunday 28th May. 6 of us and the dog. We messaged in advance to ask if the F1 would be shown and they said no problem, they will arrange this for us. We stayed for food and had a mixture of Sunday roast and food from the menu. The food was pub grub but really nice and well presented. We had desserts (fudge cake and Eton mess) which were fabulous!! The staff were amazing! Really friendly and so accommodating. We would definitely recommend calling in, we had a great few hours in here!

Glad that we dropped in for Sunday lunch. Very quiet at first, recently reopened. Chose the Golden Roast for over 55s. It may have been a smaller plate but the lunch was far more than we could eat. Lovely beef, gravy with plenty of vegetables. Glad we checked it out. On leaving there were several groups arriving with dogs. If you don't like dogs around when you eat, check this out.

I came in on Sunday I didn’t have a booking but they accommodated me anyway, I had the roast trio and a Welsh rarebit starter, it was only £13.50 which I thought was quite affordable. Beef was nicely cooked and pink (to my liking) chicken was juicy and the gammon was delicious. Only criticism was that the toilets were a little bit grim, but I’m told that this has always been an issue, the staff seem excited about their jobs, friendly and are enfused to talk about new plans and changes incoming which is refreshing to see.

Ordered food here wich was all OK, my husband an I had haddock and chips, wich was nicely cooked, could have had much more chips on the plate, place was reasonably clean but the ladies toilets were broken and water gushing allunder my feet, there was an overwhelming smell of sewage, and if I had inspected the toilets before I ate there I would have left and not ordered food, they need to clean the place up disgusting in a place you have chosen to take your family for a day out and a bite to eat no excuse!!

So I guess the toilets should have sent us straight out the door to say they are rank would be an understatement the male toilet is thick with the stink of urine the ladies toilet I am told was wet and had an odor of rotten waste The food was nothing to write home about but to say it was lackluster and one member of our party who ordered the Lasagne commented that it had been in the microwave one hour longer than required due to its volcanic heat and third degree burns to his mouth …he was refunded You would think with such a prime location the owner/staff would “up there game” and put some passion into what they offer Not that bad but non return from us

We entered with some trepidation due to lack of diners. The place was pleasant and well lit and the bar staff was very friendly. The menu was not extensive but I see this as a good thing. The prices were more than reasonable. When the food arrived it was well presented and hot. The portions were also more than enough! I had pie of the day which was excellent and lots of meat and mushroom filling. My wife had the nut roast with associated veg etc which was also excellent and my mother in law had the small Haddock Fillet with Onion Rings. All meals were polished off and complements to the chef. I have written a rather long winded review as the restaurant is under new management and feel that a new slate is the right thing to do. We will certainly return, with guests!

I think 2 stars is more than fair based on the poor customer service we experienced. 1 star for the two lovely bar staff who originally served us and the other for the fact that not all of the food that arrived was poor. Nine of us ordered food at 6.40. At 7.00 7 complete orders and one half order arrived. One was missing. Over the next 30 minutes we asked 3 times for the remainder of the order, each time being told it was on it's way. In the end we shared our food with my hungry niece and my brother ate his gammon without the egg. My brother in law sat eating olives with salmon whilst spitting out the stones. At 7.35 we needed to head off on a 3 hour drive home so requested the onion rings be boxed to go. At 7.45 they arrived dripping in oil and a £4.50 refund with apologies. We asked for the manager. At 7.50 no sign of manager. At 7.55 got up again to ask for manger. What followed was us being accused of being at fault for eating the food and still complaining after we had been refunded £4.50!! The manager then went on to include members of the public in the argument to prove her point. Was handed £5.00 extra by the Co manager and left whilst being given nasty stares by the locals and the manager. Horrible horrible experience.

Myself and my wife have had a table reserved for many years on a Sunday for a carvery at The Cayley Flyer. The food as always been to a high standard, always hot and handled professionally with welcoming staff. However, over the last 2 weeks, there seems to have been a change in staff and a change in food quality and standards. The food for the last 2 weeks has been cold and during the first week, the majority of food had been sat in public view for 45 minutes while they cooked the meat; following a number of complaints from customers, the staff explained there had been technical issues and were running behind - we gave them the benefit of the doubt as they appeared to be new staff.

It's a pretty standard feedbagpub. Good service, food not bad- thought my steak was nearer well done than medium rare. No cask ale, sadly, but tolerable lager. Staff helpful. It's nothing special, but it's decent value and perfectly serviceable.

had a nice meal here, nicely cooked and presented, fair price.do not sit in the restaurant when there is a footie match on in bar, screen next to restaurant volume right up,not good for a quiet meal.if you are a sports fan, great place to be. Ian Brice

Recommended to go for the Cayley for a Carvery. Well what a Let Down it was. Cold Food, Food not covered, Burn't Roasties, Soggy Yorkshire Puddings. Bottle of Wine Ordered, Warm it was. And didn't even have Proper Wine Glasses to Share. Never Again

waitresses were useless busybodies plenty of tables free, noone there to seat you so after we settled in on our own one of them got all uppity about it - if they were there in the 1st place doing her job that hassle would not have happened - we just left and will not return - same happened to friends of ours too

You must go here as it is a little out of the way, yet really nice food with nice attentive, helpful staff. Go along Station Road to get to it, or cross the bridge from the railway station.

4 out of 6 self serve machines broken. Terrible queue! Not up to standard. Someone should take orders manually. Expect better.

Layout again was a problem just like the zoo itself for people in wheelchairs due to Buggies and layout of tables etc. Hot food was limited menu a little pricey. My personal opinion maybe have somewhere for buggy's to go outside . And re think inside furniture layout

Visiting Brown's bar and grill every weekend is the highlight of our week. My husband and I always have food here. The freshly battered fish, chips and mushy peas are great. The carvery on Sunday is the best I've ever had. I really just wished there were more choice for desserts. The management and their staff are so friendly and welcoming. Keep up the great work you do as we do appreciate it.
