The best fish and chips I have had for years! The chips were fluffy, not greasy and the fish was thick and 'meaty' - everywhere else the fish tends to be thin, wet and oily! Friendly staff. Clean tables. A real treat!

Stumbled on this place while out. I had chicken korma on chips which was delicious! Ate outside with the waterfalls as a backdrop, heavenly.

The best chips I've had in years! Cooked to perfection, soft and fluffy with crispy bits! The battered jumbo sausage was also delicious 😋

Great for a cheap meal, most of the local pubs restaurants and pubs were busy and pricey, so we tried here. The food was great, staff friendly, but location is amazing and we were able to sit outside overlooking a waterfall!

As others have said, staff have nasty attitudes towards customers. Very snotty. Wish I'd not have given them my money. Last time we go and we are local(ish) fish was also tasteless. Chips where pale and tasteless. Don't do kids meals so they indirectly force you to pay full price for larger meals for kids. My advice would be if you're so miserable in your business then sell up and give it to someone who knows how to interact with people!

Staff here managed a large order at short notice to feed the local Firefighters dealing with a wildfire above Betws. Food was really good and the staff were super helpful. Diolch yn fawr iawn!

The food was lovely but the attitude of the staff was terrible. The two young girls behind the counter (29/7/24 @ 19.40) had zero customer service skills and were downright rude. They didn’t greet us when we got to the counter - just stared at us. So we ordered our 4 portions of fish and chips. We were not asked if it was eat in or takeaway. Just asked if we wanted salt and vinegar with the same lack of smile, grumpy face. Then when it time to pay, she just thrust the card machine towards us. Didn’t even tell us how much it was. Then when the food came, just passed it. The only words she spoke the whole time was ‘salt and vinegar’. The other girl behind the counter had an equally grumpy face on and, when we were stood in the wrong area to order, didn’t even look up to tell us. A really nice place ruined by the staff. The lady who was mopping the floor was friendly when asked where the toilets were. Shame she wasn’t serving. A course in customer service is seriously needed with these staff! We won’t return which is a shame as the food was very nice.

Prepare for a long wait sad tired food and you’ll pay the high price. Word of warning please check your food before leaving. Ordered jumbo sausage and fish and chips. They messed up the first sausage and when asked for only a small amount of chips with the jumbo sausage was told only had put a small one in. I asked them to change it for a fish as I couldn’t be bothered to wait another 15 minutes. Took our food and sat by the bridge to eat it to find the chips swimming in grease and so much salt that I was unable to eat them. My husbands were cold due to the wait. We had been charged extra for the fish which was fine but they didn’t take the sausage of the bill. Find somewhere else to eat.

We ordered the 'hot and kicking' chicken burger. It was nice. The chips were decent. Avoid the milkshakes.

Visited the weekend friendly staff,quick service in what was a very very busy shop a great menu with plenty of variety I was spoilt for choice. All our meals were lovely fresh and tasty 😊.

We ordered our food etc, then when it was brought out, they'd given me and charged me for an extra meal. I did wonder why 4 meals had cost me over£60. When I went to inform her, she told that she had written it down, so it must have been ordered. I checked with my daughter as she had ordered, and she was adamant she hadn't ordered it. But the woman had brought the meal back, like to say your having it regardless. My eldest daughter then took the meal inside and reluctantly the woman agreed to give me a refund. My daughter then came back, and said that the woman had a really bad attitude. My granddaughter then asked me for red sauce, so I went to ask for some, when I asked if I could have some red sauce, I was told that it wasn't on my order. To which I replied, I didn't say it was, I'm asking you if I can have some? She then went to get some with such a bad attitude. I asked her if she was this friendly with all her customers. Things excerlated, as her attitude just got worse. So I went to get my family and we left, my eldest and youngest daughters went back inside for the refund. And after my daughter trying to calmly sort things out, yet again the woman's attitude just got worse, and then her mother got involved, and actually started pushing my youngest daughter out the door. Their very lucky I didn't phone the police!!!!!!!!!!

We sat in with our dog, fish and chips for four with bottled drinks cost £54, which these days seems to be the going rate. The food was excellent, it was only a short wait. I would also note that a trip to the toilets or the back offers a great view of the waterfalls!

An average chip shop, not the best, not the worst. Friendly service. At nearly £15 for a takeaway small portion of fish, chips, small curry sauce and a bottle of diet coke, I've had better chippy meals for less money.

I first visited this place a couple of years ago and thought it did a really good fish and chips. At the time I was visiting the area for a few days and on the first night needed a quick fix. My second visit was a couple of days later where I opted for a very tasty chips with bacon pieces jalapeños and cheesy sauce. I arrived back last night for a similar stay and had the cheesy bacon chips again and they were delicious again. As it was raining and I didn’t want to get wet walking further I ate here again tonight and had the baked potato with chilli and I’m glad I did . The potato was light and fluffy and the chilli and beans were very tasty without being too spicy. Two nights at Hen shop pont-y- pair and two good value and delicious meals, well done 👏. The servers were friendly and polite too .

We visit the village regularly and every time we cross the bridge the fish and chip aroma catches you, so we decided to grab some. It's a little pricey but very nice so it's a trade off. Will certainly stop and buy again though if we're hungry!

Great fish and chips from here, we saw the mixed reviews but thought we'd give it a go and we're glad we did. We visited at pretty much peak time on Sat eve (in April) and the wait time was only 5-10mins. Would recommend!

Fish and peas, fish chips and peas, 1 Diet Coke and a tea - £26.40 Not too bad at all really, friendly staff but a bit of a free for all at the counter, oddly enough we both agreed that the batter was nicer than the fish, chips weren’t too bad, on the whole would call again but a bit on the pricey side. Absolutely horrible staff do not cater to allergens at all and were completely rude in the way they said the person wouldn't be able to eat here, absolutely outrageous no establishment let alone a food establishment should make someone feel so inhumane because of a life threatening allergy. Completely unprofessional.

You can't visit Betws y coed without eating here. It's the best chippy in the town. Very busy but worth the wait and you can sit next to the river eating. Seagulls can be a problem but not as bad as the seaside. It's no more expensive than anywhere else tourist wise, and you know your getting quality food. Staff are lovely too. Last time I came here they let me sit in as they were opening and seating area wasn't open. as I have a non verbal autistic son, and we're ever so good with him. Top quality views, service and food xxx

We were recommended by a friend to try this chippy and it’s loaded chips. I read the reviews, especially the bad ones. Sorted the wheat from the chaff and went anyway. Friday evening in April. The 5th to be precise. Very nice member of staff took the order and explained there would be about a 5 minute wait. Fish chips and curry, and a #3 loaded chips. £20, about similar to Manchester. Very nice it all was. Would I recommend it? Well yes I would. Not sure how you rate the atmosphere of a chippy though.

I'm a local. We have a take away most weeks. Definitely my favourite chippy. Friendly staff, lovely food and reasonably priced considering the ridiculous taxes chippies have to pay. Highly recommended.

Fish must of been sliced into two , was wafer thin , discusting charging 8.25 for a poxy bit of soggy fish , I would of demanded my money back but had traveled back to camp site before opening up n seeing it .

We went to get some fish and chips on our last day in Wales. Unfortunately we did not listen to the bad reviews. We got served the worst fries we have ever eaten (soggy and cold). The fish was alright. We received no napkins. The service was unfriendly.

It's a chippy. Quick on , quick out. Over £14.50. Fish,chips,peas, and a bottle of water. Lovely, it's not cheap if you have children

This place is probably the worst place to eat in the village, the fish was barely cooked and the chips were swimming in grease. They still serve in polystyrene trays that litter the local area and the customer service was just as bad. Rude staff with absolutely no customer service skills to speak of. I ended up throwing the entire meal.away.. Definitely don't waste money here, much better chippy in the village centre or the many local pubs.

Had fish and chips from here and considering it’s the only fish and chip shop in the village the quality wasn’t good. Chicken burger was t a burger it was some chicken strips in a bun, the fish was tiny and the chips were quite dry. Shame

Cracking fish and chip shop that’s been here for a good few years. No real seating so great on a good weather day or if you have somewhere local to stay. As an eating option in the area it’s a good option and the food is very good also. Recommend giving it a try.

Friendly staff with reasonably priced fish n chips. There’s a small amount of seating inside with some more outside with a view overlooking the river if you’d like to eat in, the view is beautiful. No complaints, if I’m ever in the area I will be back 🙂

Had some Fish and Chips here to take away and they were very good. Batter was crispy and plenty of fish and chips. Was a pit pricey, but worth the money in my opinion.

Quaint little fish & chip shop in a lovely location, are friendly, helpful and polite, the food was lovely, fresh battered fish is so nice, decent sized portions and an excellent price, would most definitely recommend... Great for families with a good selection of meals all at the right price. Car park round the corner.

Been short changed every time we visited. Food was terrible, overcooked fish and sausages and the batter was soggy. Yhe chips were soooo greasy. AVOID !!

Standard fare fish and chips. Great for an easy takeaway but definitely in the “ok” category, not great. Batter was a little oily and lacked crispness while chips were on the verge of cardboard. Just enjoy with lots of ketchup and all will be well.

Enjoyed our fish and chips but wondered why they couldn't batter a sausage. They can batter other things and will happily pay a premium for it but no, they can't batter a sausage. Really nice little chip shop with a small seating area outside. The home made chips and fish cakes are amazing, usually made fresh when you ask for them, they're worth a few minutes wait. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. There's a nice indoor restaurant area to the side if you want to eat in. Ice cream and cold drinks are available from a chiller. Nice to visit and eat your takeaway by the nearby river with rapids. Plenty of bins available too so no excuses for not disposing of your wrappers! Well worth a visit.

Popped in around 3pm on a Monday afternoon (end of September 2022) so it was quiet. We only had a large sausage and chips and a cone of chips, but there seem to be lots of choice. The chips were lovely, really tasty and what chip shop chips should be always like, which often we don't seem to get from a lot of chippies nowadays. Seemed good portions for the chips, the sausage was just like every sausage from a chippy. Nice location next to the river at the top of the town, we stood on the bridge to watch while we ate. A heron visited the river while we watched but he didn't want a chip :) I would visit again if in town.

Ordered two chips and asked for them just in paper, was told they couldn’t serve just in paper as they don’t have the grease proof sheets. Another member of staff then rolled her eyes and said to the girl serving me “just tell him the trays are biodegradable”. The trays are polystyrene, they do NOT biodegrade, ever. They float, break up and pollute the oceans. So not only does this chippy serve measly portions at high prices, they also see fit to insult their customers intelligence, lie to them and do zero to reduce their waste

Friendly helpful staff. Great tasting food, chips were clean and fresh. Really nice fish and chip shop. They also do scooped ice cream. Dining area was closed on our visit but there is a small seating area outside to the side of the building by the bridge, overlooks the river. Pricing in line with neighbouring businesses.

Hi Been coming here for years and always enjoyed their fish and chips. However we were shocked to be charged £21.50 for 2 portions , the fish was called "large " but it was the same size as all the other times we've been there and the chips were mostly hard bits. Hate to think what we would have been charged if we'd sat in! Wont be going back.
