One of the best fish and chip shops in Cambridge. Sadly, it seems to be closed now. I hope they come back at some point

Ordered via Just eat last year a few times and thought it was great..large portion..good qualty cod and chips. Now i dont know whats happenned..last delivery was very bad..Chips were barely cooked and were just sharp end bits..very greasy ! Cod was half the size it used to be although i ordered Large. A week later i stupidly ordered again to give them another chance as like i said it used to very good. Rang to see why i had been waiting over an hour and a half when it used to be about 30 mins..no answer for 4 rings..then i finally got through..it was the owner..after i had complained he said dont order from here anymore you are banned..and slammed the phone down well i surely wont be. I now use Rumbles in Trumpington..Top qualty..fair price and quick delivery !

Always a pleasure when we come here for food. Highly recommended , just remember it is cash only.

I was a bit unsure due to the mixed reviews, but I had a decent experience here. The staff who took my order were very accommodating and helpful. I ordered the cod and fries, and both were freshly made while I was in the store. The portions here are very generous. The only thing I didn't really like was that they left the fish skin on the cod.

The food was just like being at the seaside and the staff were great and friendly. Would recommend going there for proper fish and chips. We will be going back and bring some friends too.

Fantastic chippy. Food is always cooked fresh and the environment is clean. Service is better than you get in restaurants around the expensive city that is Cambridge.

Generous slab of fresh fried fish, but lacking somewhat in flavor. One order is enough for two people.

We've been here three times, and they've consistently served up the same great food. The chips are some of the best I've had, they're just like what you get at the seaside, with a nice taste and just the right amount of crisp. The beef and chicken burgers are both excellent, and they even toast the buns! Also of note are the scampi bites, which are nicely fried. In addition to all this, the prices are fantastic; lunch for three people was just £34. Perhaps the only downside is the pies which aren't of the highest quality. The place is also quite echoey, so it can get very loud when it's busy (it's usually pretty quiet though). But everything else is fantastic. We'll be making the most of this shop!

Fish and chips were too oily, needs proper draining.

We fancied fish and chips and decided to get them from here as reviews looked good but was a bit disappointed batter was not crispy enough and all tasted very greasy The only good thing is we didn’t pay for delivery but didn’t really make up for the food

Nice fish and chip shop in the heart of Cambridge. Fish was cooked perfectly with those extra little bits of crispy batter. Good portion of chips to accompany the fish. Staff friendly and helpful, accommodating my mum who is a wheelchair user. A very good price for fish and chips, even more so considering we dined in. Will definitely come here again.

Fish was nice but the chips were not very nice.may I suggest they peel their potatoes and take the eyes and black bits out of their chips.i wouldn't eat them from there again.

Was looking for a fish and chips in my area and found this place. The person who served us was very friendly and we got our meals to go very fast (we waited around 5-7 mins). The place looked nice and tidy. Was not very crowded for a Saturday afternoon. The meal portions are quite big as I barely finished mine even with a huge hunger. The prices are fair. Definitely will return here! Thank you.

Just had chicken fillet burger and chips and Mum had sausage and chips. Fantastic service, chicken was freshly cooked to perfection, just like everything else. Even down to the bun. Chips are fresh and taste great and there's more than enough with the decent portion sizes. Feeling very full and satisfied. Top notch place to eat.

1st time customer. Ordered through Uber Eats. Got a Cod & Chips combo, battered Sausage and a Gherkin. It was delivered in a very soggy box and everything tasted like cheap garlic butter, like if someone had spilt their chicken kiev when they were making it. Not gonna lie, the Fanta was the best part, and I'm yet to open it. Should I give them another chance or has anyone else had similar food?

The definitely are not greedy with the fries and sauces! The fish was a little bit too greasy, had a reflux even hours later.

Came into the store as a group of 5. There were two people serving and 2 people sitting to eat. We stood the the counter for 10 minutes and we’re not greeted or asked for our order but they did keep brushing past us to pick up an empty cup here or a plate there and the other server continued to look at his Deliveroo machine. We ended up leaving as we were ignored. They could have at least acknowledged us and explained the wait. Worst service I have seen anywhere for a while

Almost two hours for a delivery ...!! for fish and chips nothing else...!!! you have to sort out your deliveries!!!

If you are looking for the worst fish and chip in the Cambridge and probably entire GB, try this shop! They serve one the worst (if not the worst) fish and chips that I ever had. Greasy (and smelly), fish as thin as a paper, batter as think as Jamaican dong, and not to mention they serve frozen fish.

I’ve ordered a few times from here, and the food is really good! The staff is super friendly and the food is cooked quickly :) Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a traditional fish and chips, or even a burger !

Went in at 8pm on a Sunday evening to put in an order for 50 people for a summer school. Never seen anyone shovel chips so quickly! Very friendly staff, helped us carry the ridiculous amount of food out to the car and gave us some extras just out of kindness. Great food, great service, we should have phoned ahead but they did fantastically, would recommend.

Its not a dedicated fish and chip shop, they do a large selection of other food. If they concentrated on the fish and chips it would probably be better, but its still pretty good. Fish quality has improved recently. Its fairly fresh and the chips are good, but portions are a little expensive. If you eat inside the shop, the light bulbs hanging down make your eyes go dizzy. Its fairly friendly and you can eat inside or outside and the windows slide open so you can eat inside but feel like you're outside.

Fish is fresh and crunchy, same for battered sausage. The thing which makes this place memorable is the amount of chips they serve. A regular chips was enough for 2 to 3 people as when we ordered, the regular chips were split and it was still too much (this is a good thing). Very nice place.

Came here only because my elderly mother wanted chips and requested we eat in here. I wouldn’t normally eat in a greasy spoon style cafe, but obliged my mother. Only ordered chips and a drink. Very average. Over priced bottles of juice. Used the toilets and was pretty disgusting really. Dirty toilet brush on view with fecal matter in all the bristles, really off putting. Toilet needs a good clean generally. Door was filthy. Don’t think it has ever been wiped down in its life! I genuinely didn’t even want to touch anything. If that’s how they leave the toilet, I do wonder what their hygiene standards are out of sight in the cooking area. Generally the seating area was fairly clean. Nothing special. Needless to say I won’t ever return.

£11.50 for a portion of large fish and chips. I normally pay £6.50 for the amount I got, but the place was quiet, albeit packed tight. A women with a push chair had a tough time getting to her seat. Definitely not for disabled.

We had lunch there. The fish is too oily and the chips are too dried. I was not able to finish even a half. We had another fish and chips in another restaurant which was a lot better. I will not go back to this place.

Ordered food at 17.55 food eventually turned up at 19.30! Tried to contact to find out what was going on and couldn’t get through on the phone. Ordered on their own website which luckily although it says they accept card it never works so when food finally turned up I was able to refuse. If your busy a bit of communication is appreciated. They are also still taking orders on Uber and Deliveroo claiming 30-45min delivery time it seems those customers are more important

Really nice traditional fish and chips in town. Love the seashell lights. I was there for about half hour and in that time the man who was working was so kind to everyone. I didn't catch his name but he chatted to a lot of the older customers, got their wheelchairs and the door for them. It was busy and he still made sure everyone was comfortable, and you could tell people didn't mind waiting as he was clearly helping people. Really great customer service.

The food I amazing and the person who runs it is very understanding and kind. Good place to eat definitely comming again.

Food was ordered at 7 and didn't arrive until 8:55, it arrived barely warm and when we called at 8:30 to ask where it was the guy told us it was out for delivery without even asking for our order details, I didn't get a dispatch text from just eat for another 15 minutes or so.

Visited this place many times as the fish and chips are delicious. The restaurant has just been refurbished and is greatly improved. The whole atmosphere of the place was a delight. If you enjoy fish and chips head to this place, you will not be disappointed.

I went in with my mum after not really going out at all for food during the pandemic and the guy was lovely behind the till and the food was amazing really nice I've come here for many years now and watched it change hands over and over but wow quality amazing

We have fish and chips from here around once a week, we have never had a bad one!! They are by far the best in Cambridge... believe me I’m a chef!!! The fish is very fresh and the batter is amazing!! Decent lovely food but a bit greasy and quite expensive compared to other chip shops i know of. Ok as a one off treat. Recommend the fish as the batter sausage was too greasy for my liking.

Nearly two hours for delivery is unacceptable. The ribs in the photo are sold as full rack of ribs, I don't think so!!! At best this is half a rack. When delivery was made cold and sweaty chips. Won't be ordering from here again.

Cold chips, 3rd time I've been given cold chips that have sat for ages...... never again.

Ordered at 5.25pm food turned up at 7.20pm. My son was crying as so hungry. Delivery man was polite. Turned up just as I was putting some frozen fish in the oven. Tried ringing for over an hr, engaged. Food was cold and the wrong order. Couldn't get through to question it as phone off the hook. Gutted, as last order was ok. If an establishment can't deal with the number of orders, can I suggest that they stop taking orders, until they have caught up. Wont be using again, unfortunately.

Chicken nuggets are the best in Cambridge

The fish was good but the batter was bland, overall we had to season everything ourselves with table salt. I don’t like thick fries but that is personal taste so I won’t remove a star for that. But no sauce included either. Although everything was tasteless, I will give 2 stars for the fish and that the lack of seasoning may be healthier; I think it also smelled like coconut oil. The wings were alright. But not worth coming back for.

Bit expensive, and the plaice was a big soggy. I'd prefer Fish n'Chick'n.

We love The Catch. The fish is freshly fried, batter is crispy and the chips delicious. The staff are kind and look after us well. We're so happy The Catch is open and we can collect during these very difficult times.

I’ve attended this chip shop multiple times! Never will I go back! The guy behind the counter shouted in my 2 year old daughters face because she was crying due to her falling over and I was trying to comfort her. I was in complete shock, my 2 friends who I was with we’re blown away by this mans reaction. We sat down after getting our food he stared at us the whole time making us feel really uncomfortable. The food is average. It’s over priced and small portions. Clearly they don’t like children in here so.

Affordable, good quality fish & chips and friendly service. What’s not to like?! I take my family here from time to time for a post-swim treat. The owner is very friendly and always engages with my two young girls. It’s easy to tell when fish and chips aren’t very fresh - the fish being, well, fishy and the chips having that sweetness that potatoes develop when they’re old. But you’ll get none of that here. The fish is always very fresh, with a light crispy batter, never over-cooked, and the chips are the same; always new potatoes and perfectly fried to order. Possibly the best fish & chips in Cambridge.

No much to say in favour of this place. tea was awfull, they put sugar in (none on table) and was as weak as dishwater. Food was hot but was ok at best. take yor choice if tou want to eat here.

A little greasy but I havent had fish and chips in ages and I throughly enjoyed it. My granddaughter has now gone vegetarian and refused her codlets but ate chips with gusto. Will try again.

My work colleague has just been there and waited 15 minutes to get his jumbo sausage and chips, he has just said it was the worst chips and sausage he has ever eaten!!!! Horrible greasy and just plain disgusting!!!! Alas you can’t give a zero rating!! I should have guessed by the “no refunds and no returns sign” Avoid!!!
