Old school fish and chips shop run by young people. Very friendly and quick service, fresh, tasty fish and decent, thick chips. That's what you expect and you get it for a fair price. Would definitely go back!

Staying at Haven, ordered eight meals with chips, fish batter was dripping with oil, chips were virtually inedible, poor value for money. Staff could do with some customer service training.

First time tried this take away, and defo will not be last . Fish cooked well, batter really crispy and really good value . ... staff also really friendly 👍🙂 .... thank you

Always have our chips at the Catch on our holidays in England. Never get this big sizes of Chips in Germany. The service was awesome. See you next year again! Dankeschön :)

Crisp batter over tasty cod and huss. Golden chips, large size serving 2-3 normal-appetite people easily. Friendly service from girl with a great smile. Good value at around £17. Limited parking but could park on Bulverhythe Road behind, by footpath/bridge that leads directly to the chip shop. As for atmosphere, it's a take-away fish and chip shop so what do you expect! Can sit outside while waiting. The friendly staff and your attitude decide the atmosphere. One suggestion: have photos of all the fish choices so people can be weaned off cod by the thought of trying something more exotic. Not everyone knows what a huss looks like.

First time at The Catch , 1 x regular cod & chips 1 x large haddock & chips (cooked fresh) 2 x cans of pop £24 odd average price I guess but not a cheap meal . Wasn't wow'd really but there you go. Still on the search for a decent chippy.

Waited a good 10 minutes to be served. No acknowledgement of us waiting only 2 other customers there. No chicken No curry sauce No pancake rolls. We went elsewhere.

Visiting the area we thought we’d try out the local chippy. The guy behind the counter was dressed in a dirty tracksuit and and definitely had not had any lessons in customer service.. I could smell cigarette smoke coming through from the back whilst waiting 20 mins for the food. The cod was skinless which was a plus but it was thin and greasy the chips were so overcooked it was hard to find any that were edible. If I were a local I wouldn’t be visiting again.

Visited this Fish & Chip shop while staying at a nearby caravan park. The staff were friendly and the Fish & Chips were good! Only 4 stars as the chips were a little greasy and I have had better elsewhere in the UK, however this is possibly one of the best Fish & Chips shops in Hastings so well worth a visit.

Possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Large cod was so small and thin and the batter absorbed so much oil it was inedible. The chips were gritty so I assume we're not washed properly.

The food was awsome. Chips were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Sausages werent bad either. Not our usual chip shop but could well be now.

Food was really good, great size portions at a very reasonable price, will definitely use them especially as they are open from 12.30 till 21.00 , I did have to wait 20 mins but food nice & freshly cooked. Parking is a bit of a pain but worth stopping for.

Just went to get fish and chips and didn’t have any potatoes peeled ready for chips. Going to be at least half hour wait. What fish and chip shop don’t have potatoes peeled and ready to go???

We order this evening from the catch for home delivery. Food took about 2 hrs to arrive . Kept moving the delivery time. When the food arrived the chips were luke warm. My plaice was over cooked and oily. My husband said his cod was the same. Grandson did enjoy their's sausages. Was disappointed as we have collected in the past and the fish & chips were good

Despite being parked precariously right on traffic lights directly on the front of this shop, the service was appallingly slow. No explanations or reassurances how long it was going to take (I was the only customer) the young man largely ignored me whilst busying himself with something in the back. After 20 minutes of this treatment. [During which there was coarse language between him and another young man constantly, in/out of the shop past me, loudly chatting on a phone and shouting questions to the server] I asked how much longer I'd have to wait or start making apology phone calls. He was abrupt and dismissive. Fish and chips for one. With a small can of drink was over £11 The meal was mediocre too. Never again. Tom Ashworth.

Great shop good work force even had my daughter who's just started high school call me to tell me she felt comfortable as the man was very nice to her UPDATE just had daughter on phone today confirms this review she was the girl who came back for a 2nd can of coke thank you

Went there Wednesday for 12pm opening young lad needs to learn some manners he was very rude, will never go there again, they need to update their website as it wasn’t open at 12pm

A very solid 5 stars for the food 👍 but sadly the service when we visited was not good... Sunday evening at 620pm and we're told it was a 10 minute wait, which turned into 35 minutes 😲 mainly due to one of the staff members sitting outside while the other guy slaved away inside! Again the food was great but major work is needed on service 👎

The Cod was awful, lots of batter, very little fish, what there was dried up and tough.

Stayed at the haven site. Had burgers and chips. Big portion of chips. Only Downside was he didn't have any lettuce/onion etc for burger filling.

The cod was like a kids portion, it must be locals and staff leaving reviews, have a look at the cod they gave me I’m in shock that they think this is ok to serve

Went for a walk and stumbled upon this fish and chip shop. Two young lads serving. Very welcoming. Fish crispy and surprisingly not oily. Definitely if I am back in Hastings worth the bus ride,to get here

Disappointing.... I first tried the Fish and Chips from here a year ago and they were fantastic, they were so good I told everyone they were the best place in town ... But since then they have gone down in quality and in size... Previously the portions were very good and the fish were reasonably thick but today the fish is very thin which means it is over cooked... and therefore makes it tasteless and chewy. I know Fish and Chip Shops must find it hard with the cost of fuel and oil but with Hastings having a daily supply of fish The Catch must be able to source fish at readonsable prices. Then to top it all to have to wait 30mins is pretty bad. Unfortunately I will not be trying them again

Was very slow I think deliveries was taking priority

Been to this one a few years ago and was really good. But wished I never gone there. The chips were rubbish and the fish was unbelievable, it was over cooked and had no taste and was like an oversize frozen fish burger. Wouldn't use them again.

Lovely staff but the young guy with glasses isn’t to bright

This was absolutely awful, we never actually recieved our food after waiting 2 hours! for it to be delivered and the resteraunt didn't even have the decency to phone us themselves and made the poor just eat guy do it for their mistake. After giving our food to be delivered to a different address they then run out of what we ordered and couldn't remake our order. Absolutely awful service would not reccomend atall if I could give it less stars I would.

Discovered this takeaway through social media and thought we'd give it a go. We are so glad we did! The food was cooked to perfection. The chips had a crisp to them like they should. The battered cod and scampi were still really tasty. The portion sizes were huge. Prices are really attractive and the customer service was excellent.

Waited over half an hour for cod and chips x2, literally no cod in the batter , really unimpressed.. No excuse for 5mm of fish and 20mm of batter for £6.90

Stayed at the Combe Haven holiday park and fancied some seaside fish & chips. Found The Catch on Google and after reading the reviews we had a day at the beach, followed by The Catch. Glad we did because everything was cooked fresh and was throughly enjoyed by all! If we ever come back here, I'll make a point of coming back to The Catch 🦊

The lady on the till was very friendly. The restaurant is very clean although it's quite hard to park as it's right next to some traffic lights on double yellow lines (not that anyone cares lol). The prices are on par with other takeaways in the area. There was a short wait but the food was cooked fresh and the highlight was the food. Cod is light and flaky. Batter crispy. Chips were soft on the inside, hot and fresh. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Funny kind of chip shop. Went to buy some chips on Friday night well before closing time and they didn't have any left (that's what they said but maybe they fancied an early night?) Somewhat disappointed as I'd made a special stop off. Might want to give it a miss if you fancy chips for supper rather than tea.

I have been hear 3 times and had to wait 25 plus minutes for food no chips cooked long wait for fish only ever got saveloys or pies ready had pineapple fritter was like a load of mush no wonder kebab shops do well very dissapointed

Great quality and generous portions at a reasonable price from very friendly staff - my favourite local chip shop!

Arrived last Sunday at 19:10, staff inside pointed to the closed sign on the door and sent me away, supposed to be open until 20:00 hrs. Until this happened I have had a good experience at the Catch. It's not good practice for businesses to close earlier than advertised on line and on the sign on the premises door.

Told 20minute wait, it was closer to 10mins for our mountain of food! Great guys very polite and helpful and the food was absolutely gorgeous! Not your typical seaside chips! Lovely soft crunch 🥰 Vod, chicken nuggets and savoloy all tasted great too! Thanks again guys! :)

When we got the shop it was about 6:30 on Tuesday and they were very busy however the food was amazing and well worth the wait, the two boys were working hard but still polite to us customers to would 100% recommend

We had a take away from the catch and it was beautifully cooked, kids eaten all and tats saying how good it was.

Was absolutely cheated. Ashame that i can’t give 0 stars. Order 1 regular fish for £6.70 for the tiny piece of fish and not only that, it was over cooked and batter was a bit chewy. I weighed the fish and it was 127grams. I then bought a regular fish from “kings fish and chips” for £6.50 and was cooked absolutely beautiful and weighed it at 250grams. Be careful. No wonder the called “the catch” because the catch u and rip you off. I’d never go back to the catch for such measly fish and chips and if they wanna write to this review, I’ve taken a photo of the comparison from both fish and chips

Absolutely the best chips I've had in my life. Outstanding. Shame the same couldn't be said for the lads that served us; not very welcoming or friendly sadly, a real shame. But the chips were good and worth the wait. A large portion was more than enough for 2!

What a great place to stop for a roadside lunch. With mobility problems we couldn’t find anywhere along the seafront with parking close enough and had nearly given up when we spotted this place. Not seafront, but parking outside and the best cod and chips ever! Thoroughly recommended 😁

Without a doubt The Catch is one of the best chip shops in the country. The food is delicious, well cooked and they give large portions. Oh and the prices are very reasonable.

Really enjoyed our meal! The staff worked fast, regardless of it being a hot day. Our large order was ready very quickly and was cooked perfectly. Overall cost was very reasonable. Would definitely use again and recommend!

Amazing quality fish, freshy fried, good friendly service and most importantly were open on a Sunday afternoon that was forecast to be one of the busiest of the summer, unlike the Central Bexhill fish and shops that were all closed. Support The Catch, they deserve it.

Tried a few dishes from the menu. The cod was quite nice although a little soggy at the bottom where it was stuck to the paper. Sausage in batter was nice and the chicken fillet burger was pretty tasty. Chips were well cooked too. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality.
