Ordered takeaway from here many times now, and it’s consistently excellent. Delicious Indian food 👍

As an autistic individual, I am quite particular about my food, and the service. It is nice food, but the order is always missing something, albeit dips or poppadoms. This has happened so many times, I am now reluctant to order from here again, as a takeaway customer. Sad, really, as their food is otherwise tasty, but I pay money for the extras, and I lose out. Dining in is probably better, but takeaway fails for the aforementioned reasons. Such a shame. Three stars only.

Shocking. I don’t know whether the food or customer service was worse. The order itself had half the rice, the garlic naan we ordered was plain and our Bhuna was watery and flavourless and the food was cold on arrival. We called the restaurant to let them know our concerns and request for a replacement, where we was told that it had to be discussed by three people and they would call back but proceeded to just hang up on us. When asking for the manager, we were told they were making deliveries, so I presume it was his child who delivered our food. We had to call up 15 minutes later to figure out if we would actually get our food. This is where we were told the Chef made up excuses on the state of food… one being the Bhuna was watery because of steam, which is not possible when the entire sauce was watery and pale with no flavour. But the best one was that the garlic naans are just like that, despite the fact we tasted and they were plain but nope we were still wrong. I know for a fact all the above is lies as I’ve ordered multiple times from them before but never have I received a watery Bhuna caused by “steam” and the garlic naan not being garlicky. When we requested a refund, as they refused to replace our food, the receptionist told us that they had no idea how to do it but to go through the website which just has a telephone number so there is no way to get a refund. It is shocking that they refused to even consider the fact that they sent a bad takeout, which can happen sometimes especially after telling us they were really busy, and just tried to make us feel we were making it up and should deal with poor quality food. I would advise to avoid because you don’t know what you’ll get and be made to feel that you should deal with what you get if you’re unhappy. Very sad that is how they deal with their loyal customers.

All round great tasting food and good value, probably one of the best keema naans I had in years, will definitely put this takeaway on my family's list

Fabulous friendly staff, Food spot on, no issues whatsoever. Good portion sizes, flavoursome, certainly NOT swimming in oil or grease ....one of the best I've had tbf 👌

Placed an order it didn't arrive at all!. I called in after the alloted 80 minute window the takeaway now has on their website to be told the driver is in saxibly he will be back in 13 minutes and then out to me, to which they haven't come the restaurant is now closed and not answering. Extremely poor service which is a shame as the food is really good. No point in ordering from here anymore u less you want to wait 2hrs for food to arrive these days.

Ordered via Just Eat app at 18.50pm the estimated delivery time was between 19.40 - 20.00pm. At 20.30pm the food had still not arrived, I called the restaurant to be told it would be a further 20mins. In total it took 2 hours from the point of ordering the food to it being delivered. When it finally arrived the food was cold and some of it burnt. I requested a refund from the Just Eat app who contacted the restaurant who advised no refund would be provided for the late delivery or cold food. It is a shame as I have enjoyed meals before from here but I will not return as a customer.

Food arrived late was missing garlic nan bread. Once called and explained that it was missing I was told it was not on the meal deal as it was off old menu. So I ordered through just eat menu. Then was advised there would be no discount as they have updated there menu.

Placed a delivery order. Should have been with me by 2105 at the latest. 2130, still hadn't arrived and the app showed it had been delivered. Called them up and was told it was on the way and would be 5-10min longer. 15min later,the driver banged on my window rather than the door and when I pointed out the food was completely cold both him and his girlfriend in the car gobbed off

Ordered via Deliveroo as a birthday treat, was late arriving and was not nice at all. Spent the night being poorly. Very disappointing.

I watched an old man (chef) lick a spoon and rinse it in a sink and then moments later took a bag and filled it with salad from the same sink. Food was tasteless and I sat on the loo all night. Leave with your first warning sign

Ordered online at 5pm, 550 got phone call just received order as problem with system. Not a problem as let us know. Delivered at 645 no apology from driver Food was average at best soggy spring roll and samosas. Mint sauce had split and covered some containers. Very disappointed as been ok before

We ordered out takeaway for delivery through Just Eat at 5.45 with a promise of arrival around 7.30. Sat and waited till 8pm. We phoned several times after that to be misled by them re the situation. So Incensed by 9.pm we headed down to collect ourselves. On our way there the our ring doorbell announced the food arrival. 😡. That was 9.20. We arrived at the takeaway to find chaos. No apology. A family member practising his footie skill. Staff openly saying don’t answer the phone and even a driver saying his car clutch had packed in. Another angry customer came in for his no show food. To be fair the food was good when we got home but the service and professionalism was non existent. My suggestion for others Don’t get a delivery from here. Our planned evening was hijacked by this “gaff”

Awful experience waited 2 hours was told the traffic was bad but when I asked the driver how the traffic was he said it was fine rather strange. Surprised.....normally quite good, this time shocking. Delivered over an hour late, called and was told it's really close, still waited another 20 mins. Food was cold and very greasy. The bhajis had no flavour and the chicken was very dry. Have recommended before, but I'm afraid I won't be using them again after this. Arrived late and cold. The rogan josh had spilled all over the inside of the take away bag and the pashwari naan had zero raisens despite advertising thay it contained them. The Tikka was also really tasteless and the rice was a stingy portion. Won't be going here again!

Sadly having to give 1 out of 5 due to the terrible experience with delivery. Food was delivered an hour and a half late. Was basically lied to when enquired by phone, ranging from its out for delivery, it’s left and should be there in 5 minutes, it hasn’t left yet as it’s on the hot plate, it’s leaving in 15 minutes, to the driver was delivering it and had a car accident and had to go to hospital. I sincerely hope the latter was not a lie, it’s a terrible one if it was, but I hope the driver was ok if genuine. Asked for a refund and to cancel the order and told could not get one as no one there to refund me. Food finally arrived. The food was actually really nice, but we were eating it so close to going to bed for the evening due to it’s late arrival, so even though the food was nice we didn’t really enjoy it. Suggest just honest with customers, if there’s a delay, explain why, we will understand. Will not use again based on this experience.

Take away, delivered. One vital item missing. I rang to ask why, and was told "that's the old menu, and if you want one, we'll charge you". So put the new menu up. Also: A Tandoori oven or grill dish should NOT be swimming in oil. If onions aren't listed on the menu, they shouldn't make up 30% of the mass of the meal. You're losing a faithful customer because of the lies I've been told, and the flippant attitude of the person on the phone. I've eaten Indian food all over the globe, since the late 1960s, and tonight's experience ranks as the very worst one I've ever had. Congratulations.

Usually a good service but delivery is very hit and miss. Usually deliver within an hour but often exceed 1 1/2 hours. No apologies, no supplements for their errors. Unacceptable. Fed up of them messing up orders. After ten years of ordering through Castlegate I'm looking for a new place for my Indian takeaway.

We ordered a sharing starter, 2 mains, rice, bread and a side dish. The starter portion size wasn't what I'd expect for two people, which was disappointing. The rest of the food was good and arrived hot. My main issue with ordering was that it arrived 50 minutes late. We preordered our food 3 hours in advance as we had a busy evening, yet it was still almost an hour late. Very disappointing.

Had two take always so far and they have both been delivered quickly and the food is absolutely delicious, value for money & definitely our Indian of choice in future.

More like baby food. No sorry just nowhere near good enough. No veg, no nothing. Same flavour all the way through and the same false colour, quite frankly it was unbelievable.

It all went in the bin, what a £40 waste. Re-used / off tasting chicken, massive layers of grease, destroyed lamb, no salad or sauce with starters. The paneer had a smell of old cheese and full of more grease. The rice had a strange taste at times and was over done? The Naan was just dumped with grated cheese and chilli's. We've avoided eating this due to concerns about poisoning. Won't order from here again.

We've always really enjoyed food from here. It's pretty reasonably priced but as others have said, the delivery is shockingly bad. Whenever we've picked it up it's been ready after 30 minutes or so, but delivery today took over 2 hours! They really need to get their act together on this.

I ordered online as delivery was stated as available. I mistakenly chose pick up so called and requested delivery instead. I was told the driver had gone home so I requested a cancellation and ordered elsewhere. False advertising! The following morning I had a missed call from who I now was a delivery driver and they wanted to deliver after all. Called the evening after to be told it was my fault and I could not have a refund. THE MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE TO ME. AVOID!

You’re probably reading this after accidentally ordering an Indian from castlegate and now you want to know where it is. Well sit down you’re in for a long one. My best advise would be cancel the order and have some toast. It will save you a lot of hassle and you will probably enjoy it more. There is absolutely no point ringing them up, because they certainly have no idea when it will be arriving. You’re better off cracking out the crystal ball!

Had to give 1star but would of rather given no stars at all. Shocking service. Order at 18.25pm, received email to say that the order was completed at 19.01, should of been delivered by 19.10. Was still waiting come 8pm. I rang to find out where the order was and had to ring twice as they picked up and put phone straight down again. When I did get to speak to someone he was extremely rude on the phone and like he couldn’t be arsed! Told me the order was with the driver and should be with me soon. Asked where was he coming from as they only on high street and I wasn’t 5min drive from there, with his response being “well we a driver down and got many orders!” And then proceeded to put the phone down on me! When the food did turn up I asked said driver how many deliveries had he done before coming to me and I was only his second delivery! Food was cold naan bread was cold too and hard and no flavour to it at all! Will never go to them again or even eat in their restaurant! literally used to love this place! as a veggie, their castlegate special meal deal was always a godsend. saag paneer recipe has been changed for the worse however - and this evening, half of my meal was incorrect. i didn’t receive the side, the food was literally freezing cold, and the cheesy chips had no cheese! cmon guys! i’m embarrassed even having to write this!

Jalfrezi & Korma were very basic but OK, not particularly tasty but not dreadful. The Onion Bhaji's were clearly not fresh, im hoping on 2/3 days old and microwaved or refried but could be worse not thinking about it. Peshwari Naan was actually OK probably 6/10, Poppadams were OK although some overcooked which is an accomplishment in itself, didnt effect taste. The usual dipping sauces were fine, mango chutney, mint and onion salad. No chance of ordering again and would definitely put you off, unless you are desperate, it hasnt made me ill which is a positive!

Nice welcome, attentive staff but the food was nothing special at all. Chicken tikka was basically a bowl of tomato soup with a few extras spices and lumps of chicken. Chicken shashlik was better, but not particularly hot (temperature, that is). It was okay, but I wouldn’t visit again based on this experience.

I bought a groupon for a sit down meal. They refused to honour the groupon saying they only did takeaways. The staff member was very rude and kept saying, get a refund. I will never try and use again. Please avoid for fear of disappointment. Will not recommend.

Naans had been microwaved for so long that they were rubbery and inedible. My daughter's meal was bland and watery... Both meals were extremely greasy. I could have cooked a better one myself for a fraction of the cost. So disappointed when it was a treat after a hard working Saturday

Ordered a Rogan and jalfrezi and the Rogan spicy than the jalfrezi. I rang and they didn't even offer to send a lower spicy dish and refused refund. All I got was I was wrong and don't know Indian food. I have had many Indian foods over the years in London and derby and even Birmingham. Never have I had such rude staff. As you can see in pictures it is very dark which isn't a normal Rogan. ADVOID THIS PLACE.

I've used this place several times over the years and generally it's been pretty good, this last time will probably be the last though, it's a little expensive which I don't mind when the food is good... When a pathia doesn't even give out a little heat then there's something wrong.

Tried to order from here and the person who answered the phone didn't sound professional and annoyed and thought it was a fake order. He also said my card declined and he also didn't understand what I was saying to him. I will never be ordering from here again worst customer experience ever.

I order a takeaway, it came in the allocated time, started to dish it up for my guests to share, took the plain nann bread from the white foil bag unfolded the nann bread to find a dead beetle inside it, I contacted the restaurant to tell them what I had found, no apology given just offered another nann bread to be delivered, the phone then got passed to who I presume was the manager, who basically called my a lair and then he suggested I put the beetle inside myself, completely rude no customer service, will not use this restaurant again!

So missed this restaurant during lock down. It was an absolute pleasure to say it was still as amazing as ever. Went with my husband and my father in law, Brian, who is in the process of moving here from London. He is well used to fine dining in London and was delighted that the Castle Gate offered excellent service and superlative food. Really can't recommend this place highly enough. Missed you!!!

I have had curries all around the world 🌎, but tonight I experienced the best so far! Lamb Madras. Plenty of flavour, right balance of meat to sauce. Spicy- made my nose run as it should! Great service delivered, even in a pandemic. Arrived safely on time, piping hot and with a courteous delivery driver. Everything about the order was done correctly. Not hard to achieve, but so many can't do it. Your team smashed it. Thank you. I will try a different dish next week 😋

The meal was a bit late, a takeaway, but it was well worth waiting for. We had 3meals, enough for four, easy . Succulent lamb,tender prawns and well cooked duck, each in very tasty sauces.

Hands Down THE BEST Indian Takeaway In Lincoln! The food is always excellent, the service is always great and the owner couldn't be any more helpful! We wanted to make a curry Vegan, the owner accommodated us without question, and the curry (even being vegan, tasted incredible!) and to top it off, it is very affordable! It's our go to everytime we are in Lincoln! 👌🏻

The chicken madras here is one of the BEST curry dishes I've had anywhere. Not only is it well portioned, but the quality is top notch every single time I order it. It is an absolutely phenomenal dish and the perfect takeaway/delivery in these times.

Always order from this restaurant as often as I can. The food is delicious and always very hot, and the lamb dhansak I had recently was beautiful. Only thing I can fault is the cheese naan isn’t cheesy enough, but apart from that everything is superb here.
