The Castle Inn in Isle of Wight

Popped in for a quick drink and was very pleasantly surprised

Made to feel very welcome on our daily visits whilst on our short break away. 😀

An absolutely excellent little boozer. In fact, this place became our local while we were on the isle of Wight. The staff were fantastic; very friendly. And we started talking to the locals that night and kept on meeting new people all week. Smallish bar on your left as you enter with seating all around. Up a couple of steps to the left for more seating. There is also a nice little beer garden out the back to enjoy. If it's your first time here, just keep your eyes open for a couple of steps that seem to catch us out. I don't recall seeing anything food related, but there is an excellent looking fish and chips shop next door. The Guinness was excellent as was the London Pride and the HSB. If you're on the IoW, give them a try.

Good selection of beer. Not very cold though. A very small pen outside to drink in.

It was quiet when we were there on this occasion , but it is a very decent pub , good and traditional !

Gatecrashed the quiz night on Tuesday, but was made to feel very welcome, locals and the bar staff were very friendly, rounded off a good evening very nicely.....thank-you

Had such an awesome evening in the Castle Inn with the lovely Gemma and Tyler! We were only on the island for 2 nights and we were looking for some fun entertainment but unfortunately missed the pub quiz, so Tyler very kindly went out of his way to go through the pub quiz questions again just for our group! Highly entertaining and really made our quick pit stop in the Isle of Wight worthwhile. Thanks to both of them for being so funny and welcoming. If you’re in Ryde - come to this pub!

Amazing find walking into this pub! Gemma and Tyler working at the bar are the dream. We even got our very own special private pub quiz. The most welcoming pub in Ryde!

Stayed at The Castle with My Mum for 3 nights.5th May 2022.The twin room was large and spacious with a large bathroom.Very clean.The breakfast was excellent,fresh and cooked to perfection.The staff couldn't do enough for you.Nothing was to much trouble.We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again.

Great place for a drink and a chat

In the heart of Ryde with a hidden garden and traditional pub atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming. During the winter months you can enjoy a roaring open fire place.

Good beer, super clean loos, very friendly staff. Large seating area in the back yard.

Staff were reasonable but got told to be quiet when we were singing after a football match. No food.

So accommodating, really nice staff. Very clean and loved sitting in the courtyard. It was such a welcoming spot after walking 14 miles! Thank you for being great hosts and keeping us well watered.

It's a great pub and a lovely atmosphere. I don't stay all day, but beware I was almost caught out, they don't accept cards. They are CASH ONLY....

Just recently on a holiday to ryde my son had a funny turn & desperately needed the Ioo. I rushed him into this pub & the lady behind the bar very kindly let him use theirs, but little did I know till on my way back to London the next day that I had left my jewellery on the side aft er taking it off to wash my hands..I called the pub and sue had put it aside for me (very honest) I asked her if she would mind posting it to me which she has since done and I am so grateful!..most people would pocket their find!..although I didn't have a drink in their I can comment on the cleanliness honesty and friendliness of staff as being 5*..Thank you:-)
