We called in for lunch on a sunny October Monday after a lovely walk on the beach and castle visit. Five stars for this friendly pub with delicious food and great beer. Highly recommend.

I’ve tried this public house on many occasions, but last night the Chicken Souvlaki was excellent so I had to write a review. To food was firstly, very, very tasty and the portions were very good. I’d throughly recommend, as the meals are excellent value for money!

What a fantastic pub! We came in on the Friday night for some food it was so good we came back in on the Saturday, the curry was absolutely fantastic! The locals let my youngest sit with them and watch the football which was great :) We have been coming to Llansteffan for 8 years and will definitely return to this pub next year, everyone was so welcoming and friendly!

Really friendly pub and restaurant with locals and holiday makers the food was delicious , it was great for us because we could take our 2 Whippets which were both made welcome.

Popped in to this local pub in the heart of The village and we were so glad that we did We enjoyed a good local beer and a homemade chillie which was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It feels like a local pub used by locals and tourists.

Lovely comfortable bar, nice atmosphere and the staff/landlords were very friendly and concerned to make sure everything was up to scratch.Just had fish and chips which was very nice though the fish was just frozen breaded fillet I think but the chips and salad were lovely and well made. Good beer.

The pub was not busy apart from a group of men by the bar. The pub is completely open plan. The men’s language was foul and the landlord made no effort to change their language. In 50 years of visiting rugby clubs and pub my husband and I have not experienced such awful behaviour and a landlord who showed no concern for other people in the pub. The food we had was good and also the wine but we ate and drank as quick as we could to get out of there. We had to ask the landlord to speak with the group of men and said we would leave if it continued. It abated for a while but once we had received our food we could still hear the odd foul word. By this time a family had arrived with a child. The group of men were loud all the time. We will never go again and will tell the Air bnb not to recommend the Castle Inn.

We pooped into the castle Inn today well after lunch time and were simply after a light snack rather than a meal. The gentleman we spoke to could not have been more helpful and promoted the village. We have been there before although this time we ended up having a coffee and cake down the road rather than in the pub. It is this sort of community spirit which will help us survive in Wales when tourism is under attack from our political leads and makes one feel that small communities really do stick together. The pub itself is welcoming with ample seating inside and out. Our thanks to the king member of staff we chatted with for listening to what we actually wanted and directed us most appropriately! We will be back!

After completing a walk around Llansteffan coastline which turned into a rather wet affair due to torrential rain, we popped into the Castle Inn in the hope of food and rest bite from the weather. The landlord behind the bar was extremely friendly and was most welcoming. We chose specials from the board which included Chicken Panang and Chicken Souvlaki both of which were excellent. Would highly recommend if you find yourself in area.

Very lovely barman made so welcome. The local beer was excellent. The curry was delicious. A very charming meal. Whole heartedly recommend x

Arrived 12.30pm. Was told no lunches today, as expecting large group later. Found another place to have some pizzas. Returned to pub about 2pm for a drink. Found they were serving lunches after all!!! STRANGE as they were not that busy.

Our host and chef surprised us with the quality and excellent presentation of food. Pork tandoori was particularly memorable. For a free house the range of beers wasn’t very interesting, but the Doom Bar was perfectly acceptable. Highly recommended.

Visiting family who live locally and opted to dine on a Friday evening. Aware that the kitchen closed at 2000 hrs, so arrived in good order. Menu boards full of appetising options but selected Thai Chicken Curry and Mushroom Curry. Meals arrived and truly scrumptious!!!!

Don't bother. No food available at 19:15 midweek in June unless booked ahead. The place was not even full. No mention of need to book on any of the online information we could find. Very unfriendly and unhelpful. In fact there was nowhere to eat in Llansteffan midweek evenings. The place was dead.

My wife and I popped in for a drink and food a couple of times during our stay in Llansteffan. This pub is great, the landlord and all the staff are nice and friendly who always made us very welcome. The food is highly recommended and yes the chips are delicious. We will be back .

Beautifully cooked and presented chicken Slouvaki. Quite an unexpected treat on a cloudy Thursday. Food all cooked to perfection and a lovely side salad that I’d give a 10/10.

We arrived late in the afternoon with the idea of getting our tea there after day on beach. We were told by the friendly land lady we would have a wait as a table of nine had just arrived. But it turned out they were still waiting for some of their party. The land lady came over and offered to get our meals in front of the large party which was great. We had three really good meals, and to boot the beer was great. Will be back.

Had a tasty lasagna and a glass of dry,white wine outside in the sunshine and it's only the second week of February. This pub is up to date,spotlessly clean with an extensive menu. The landlord was friendly and charming. Thank you.

Great local dog friendly pub. Friendly staff who gave us advice on places to visit and were attentive. Menu of traditional home cooked foods. Very reasonably priced.

Service was awful from guy running the bar. Seemed more interested in serving the locals as opposed to visitors to the area. After ordering drinks the gin was full of bits from the glass. Went in to change and he did not seem interested in replacing with a new drink until another member of staff came out and said just swap it. Will not be returning here again.

Called in this afternoon, no reservation, really busy outside, fully booked inside. Looking for a table for 2 to eat,the lovely hostess seated us, as nowhere else open. Great lively local pub, serving great simple pub food. I had lasagne which hit the spot and my partner had a lovely beef madras. Great food and drink, reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and will definitely return

We have come back twice 2 vegans in the family and 2 meat eaters. The vegan Penang curry rivals any found in London for top slot and the pies for our meat eaters outstanding. We can enthusiastically recommend this pub to any one who loves...

Very tasty food but very slow (we waited 45mins & there was only 1 other table occupied) however the staff were very nice & the place was dog friendly.

Well worth a visit, we have been here many a time and love it.....great beer...fab hosts and such a friendly place....we've even been lucky enough to be there when the male voice choir was there and the atmosphere was amazing! Oh and it's dog friendly too! Always something going on in there too which is great!

We enjoyed a fantastic steak at The Castle which we found out was locally sourced. It was cooked to perfection. Good honest pub grub at reasonable prices. The staff and locals were really friendly. The beer was good. Parking not an issue, just park at the beach car park which is free and walk up 7 mins. It will not make you feel so guilty for all those delicious things you ate when you know you have a short walk back, and the view is worth it any way!

It is, as other reviews show, a decent traditional pub. We went for supper and found the food that evening with a bias towards curries; there is (very wisely) a short menu on a board, and that evening there was even a vegan curry. Don't expect fine dining - this is all about decent beer and decent food: it's a help-yourself to cutlery, and extremely good helpings of curry with (in one case) a very good amount of beef - this puts some much more pompous establishments to shame. We would certainly visit again.Recommended.

A nice traditional pub in a little village. Small front room bar style. Offers food when there enough staff on. Food was nice and good portion sizes. The menu is small but a decent variety. There is a kids menu. Portions are a little large for younger kids.

Wanted to watch a Sunday match while visiting in town for a week. The football was on, the bartender was lovely and the patrons friendly. This pub is definitely the village local. Ordered a ribeye to share with my partner. It was good (although a bit over cooked) and came with salad, peas, new potatoes and the BEST mushrooms w onions...YUM! Our fellow patrons were quite lovely and we felt welcomed in this local. Will definitely return without hesitation.

We had a distressing experience at this pub this afternoon Sunday 18 August which demonstrated the worst aspects of bullying nationalism and drunken brutishness.

A nice pub, yet more new owners. Hopefully they will make a success of it for the foreseeable future. Nice ambiance and very nice ales, less the chemical stuff supplied by the big breweries who all the Welsh porky fatso regulars tend to drink. Food improving as staff get to grips with cooking, but still a LONG way to go for it to be graded as good. Rock hard faggots, cold peas and soggy chips are only eating by people up in the valleys who know no difference. Give the Inn next door a run for their money and you will both be a joyful success.

Family friendly, good food (nothing fancy but pub meals done well), a real old fashioned proper pub. The exclusive Llansteffan pint was well worth a try too - well three tries, actually.

We were staying at a nearby caravan park and went to have a drink taking our 2 small dogs with us. We initially sat outside but on seeing the menu asked if we could bring the dogs in. No problem at all. I had chilli my husband had the pork loin steaks with apple & cheese sauce. The portions were generous & cooked & presented beautifully. Hats off to the chef & staff. Would certainly recommend them unreservedly. Mine host is a character and very welcoming.

Iwan the local chef is back! The food was good before but now the chef has added a new twist! Steak, gammon, marinade chicken and specials of the day!! Well worth a visit or 2!

We stopped here as a large group of 19 after walking the beach and exploring Llansteffan castle on a Saturday at noon. The staff did a great job of preparing hearty meals for all of us and brought out music for us to listen to while sitting outside. A really great spot to stop for a pint, some lunch and to relax.

House hunting in the area over a weekend and we decided to go out for a drink one evening. The Inn itself is pleasant enough but the dark haired barmaid was horrendous. She was surly, rude, patronising and even took to ignoring customers ! Even deliberately turning away at one point. Disgraceful, I don’t know how she still has a job. I for one would never drink in there again. We did end up purchasing a house but this is definitely NOT going to be my local !!! AVOID and go to the ‘Inn at the Sticks’ instead much friendlier staff

We visited here for lunch today. The current landlord has recently taken it over. Dog friendly- result! Decent food & a nice pint. We’ll definitely revisit whenever we are in Llansteffan.

We first visited almost exactly a year ago, when new licensees were keen to make a good impression, which they did. Local intelligence suggests that they are in process of decamping to the Village Stores, and the Castle Inn (still under their control) has since taken a severe downturn, looking quite tatty. Less than cheerful lady behind the bar begrudgingly agreed to serve up Steak and Ale Pie with chips, Chicken and Mushroom Pie with Chips and Seafood Platter (it was only just past one o,clock). Lengthy wait for the simple enough far, which, when it arrived, was very good (chips were frozen variety), and represented good value for money (but all accomplished without cracking a smile). Some issues with getting a receipt for Contactless Payment (was told they didn't have to issue for Contactless - wrong!- receipts are required by Law), receipt was eventually produced (still no smile, as receipt sent by courier). All in all, a rather dismal and cheerless experience. The good news is we will return, but only when the next new licensees are firmly in place!

We visited to take part in the Llansteffan festival..the place is so unique, the locals are something else and Sarah and Jamie are top notch..would recommend this weekend to anyone who likes a good time x

Be warned: this pub is popular with dog owners. If that does not put you off the food certainly will. Soggy scampi and lukewarm steak and ale pie which had more mushroom than steak. However, the young waitress was friendly and charming which is why we did not complain to her.

Little confusing, I read online that food bar food and snacks were available from 12pm and evening menu from 6pm. We turned up on sunday at 4.30pm and there was absolutely no food, the man behind the bar was less than interested and when I mentioned that online information was misleading, he shrugged his shoulders and stared at me in silence. Odd! He actually said to try next door as he used to work there! Not the best customer service, and a bit of a shame as the reviews on here seem favourable.

Recently stayed in Llansteffan and joined the locals to watch one of the six nations rugby games. Lovely atmosphere, great welcome and friendliness. Food was good honest pub grub and beer lovely. Will return.

This is a proper local pub with a relaxed atmosphere. I am a solo traveller and sometimes eating alone can feel uncomfortable but I enjoyed my meal here. Had a hotpot which was tasty, satisfying and good value. Would be a good place for families.

We stayed in a cottage in Llansteffan and looked for somewhere to go for food for my birthday. After reading reviews chose the castle inn and we were not disappointed.

Stumbled across the castle inn pub after a long stroll with the family. Was greeted by a young waitress who looked after us throughout the entirety of our lunch. Ordered a humble cheese burger and chips, and I must say despite it being a simple dish it was honestly the best burger and chips I’ve tasted ever. Service was impeccable and didn’t wait long. Will be returning :)

Today the owners started serving a traditional roast Sunday lunch for the first time since taking over the pub a year ago. What a lunch it was; a choice of three roast meats with five vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and gravy.

My wife and I called in almost by accident, as we were in the area and hungry. We received a very friendly welcome, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Most importantly, the food was truly first rate, and very reasonably priced. We fully intend to return again as soon as possible, and can wholeheartedly recommend it for really good food in a charming atmosphere. The Castle Inn is a cosy, informal, traditional pub, and well worth a visit.

Had the deep filled chicken & mushroom pie with chip & peas which was lovely, We are also bought our dog which was allowed. After the pub we went for a long walk along the beach which is pretty close.

Pie & a pint can’t beat it especially when it is a local Llansteffan brew and local butchers pie. Watching the football! A nice way to relax after a hectic week!!! A good atmosphere and a good welcome. Perhaps a little dated and needs decoration but then that may spoil its charm!

Having recently spent a long weekend in Llansteffan for my boyfriend's birthday. We stopped at the castle Inn for a drink. We ended up staying until close. We had a lovely meal prepared by Jamie and a great friendly welcome by Sarah and Will. The locals made us feel very welcome and even played darts with my boyfriend. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we returned the following evening.

we walked in to a lovely welcome from the landlady and were shown a table as we said we would like to eat. A very large choice on the menu including a seperate specials board meant we took quite a while to decide!! We opted for the seafood sharer platter as we didnt want to overeat as we were continuing with our coastal walk afterwards. It was the ideal choice, perfect amount of food &amp; nicely cooked. Theres a really warm feeling about this place &amp; really pleased we found it.

Ate here twice while staying in the area. Very pleased that we were accommodated when arriving at the end of serving Sunday lunch. My wife ordered a seafood platter, I ordered a chicken covered with pulled pork. Dishes arrived quickly and both were warm and tasty. Called two days later and both tried the pizzas. Two sizes - 7" and 12". For me, the small pizza was too small and the larger one too big but that's as much my personal preferences as anything else. No complaints about the food - hot enough and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful

This pub is absolutely amazing. We are on a little break away and we were just after the lunch service. They kindly made us some gorgeous lunch scampi and chips. Everyone was so friendly and the lunch was just what we needed. Highly recommend.

Stopped by for lunch while property hunting in the area (what, moving again?). Pub occupies a sunny spot looking out over the Square, so perfect for people watching. Great atmosphere with new licensees keen to make a good impression. We shared a Sea Food Platter with extra chips and some drinks, all very reasonably priced and good quality. Pub enjoys a good lunchtime trade with a lot of locals and holiday makers all friendly and chatty. Pub is also dog friendly, which ticks a few of my boxes!

This is a simple, relaxed and friendly pub/restaurant without pretensions. Prices are pretty reasonable (on the low side compared to other places to eat in the area). I'm keen to go back and try their platters - the couple at the next table had them, and they looked good. My pizza was home made and you could tell. Light crust with a good amount of toppings and baked to perfection. If you fancy a day out by the beach which has a pub nearby with top grub, this is the place to go.

Second time here and this time for lunch. I opted for a jacket with Tuna. Nice tuna mayo &amp; the jacket was nice and soft inside. A simple but nice meal &amp; another pleasant experience.
