Pub quiz was a lot of fun and for a fantastic charity - Castle Donington Food Bank. Max was a great quiz master who gave us some good laughs :)

Had a amazing Sunday lunch here for a family birthday. We all had the roast options which was generous and delicious large amount of meat, fresh veg, lovely roasties and large Yorkshire pud 😀 couldn't fault it and we had the room upstairs as a large party with it own toilets which was great, everyone had a great meal and time :)

Amazing roast dinner....highly recommend....Amazing roast potatoes and Great service ! Couldn't complain about one thing !

My wife enjoyed the gluten free options which were well thought out, not just the usual deletion of the bread. My gluten packed pizza was delicious and huge.

We visited for Sunday lunch and absolutely delicious it was too. Tender Roast Beef, giant Yorkie and lots of veg, preceded by a very tasty prawn and shimp cocktail. Lovely warm and friendly atmosphere with good music in the background. We will be visiting again this Friday for music night.

The food was fabulous, cooked to perfection. Good portions and side veg was delicious. Unfortunately, We ordered 4 roast dinners from the Sunday Menu, my wife selected a Pork Roast but was served Pork Belly, the waiter returned the meal to the kitchen, but another waitress returned with a Pork Belly as listed on the menu with mash and apple source, which she never ordered. Again, pointing out that the Menu stated Roast Diner Beef / Chicken or Pork. The waitress then said that the Pork option was in-fact Pork Belly. My wife therefore settled with a meal that she didn't order and doesn't like. I think there needed to be more clarity as to what cut of pork was being offered and the staff needed to take more time listening to our 'complaint' / concern.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch (roast pork) yesterday. Only reason I have mark this down slightly is I would love cauliflower cheese and mash potato as a staple on the plate. Missed them :(

Delicious food, friendly staff. A nice place to visit. Only downside was, it was crowded. But this is expected in a popular place on saturday night.

Fabulous roast beef dinner, cooked to perfection

Food as always was excellent but service was very slow. Admittedly it was a busy night but 3 times we had to request a bottle of wine from 3 different members of staff, when it did finally arrive it was the wrong bottle. However, I am sure it was a blip but might be worth having more staff on during busy periods.

Always a pleasure to visit The Castle.

Requested a table at short notice and this was accommodated. Although our table wasn’t ready for the time of booking an alternative was found without fuss and our options were explained openly to us (if we wanted to wait for table or take the alternative) Really nice food, as always, service was great and really good value for money.

Another very good meal with 5 friends good food and drinks and great service and good value. We will be back again soon

This was our first visit to the Castle Inn and we are very happy with what we found. We will be back.

As always, a wonderful visit to The Castle. The team are always so welcoming and accommodating. We visited on Sunday as a table of 6 with a variety of roasts and pizza being ordered. Everything was lovely and the food was great!

Service was a little slow but once the food arrived the kids were happy and the food was fabulous. Ladies serving were absolutely wonderful

We had a private meal upstairs in The Rose Room for an 80th Birthday. Staff were so helpful on arrival with the cake, upstairs was all ready for us to add our decorations to. The food was beautiful, presented so nicely. We had a lovely evening and would go back again.

I had a great New Year at the Castle. Dhillan the barman in the cocktail area was great along with all the other staff.

Great night bringing in the New Year. Max and his staff at the Castle Inn are always going the extra mile with a smile. Nothing too much trouble. Great atmosphere, added to by the villagers, long may it continue.

No llegue a comer porque cierran la cocina a las 22:00 (fui casi en ese horario) las bebidas muy bien, fui un viernes con banda en vivo, el lugar se llena muchísimo!!! es mejor ir con tiempo para poder conseguir mesas.

There were far to may people in for the Killez gig. Saw gropes just entering that had not paid as they did not have yellow wrist bands. ended up sat in the bar and left during the bands break.

Great night good food the only point I would say was people walking back and forth from the bar area through the restaurant as a quick route to the toilets was not good .

Great pub with good food and a lively atmosphere -it was Xmas party season and ‘Michael Buble’ was performing out back- so the pub was buzzing. That’s how we like it! There’s a separate dining area- which was also very busy. Staff are excellent 👌

Nice pub, great beer and gin selection. Great pizzas cooked in a proper pizza oven! Quite pricey though. My chicken thigh burger had some bits of gristle/bone in though. There's a nice roof terrace for the summer too. There are lots of internal single steps and it's quite tight, so not a very mobility friendly place due to the nature/age of the building.

Works Christmas meal booked in beautiful function room upstairs, great night !! We played party games, sang and danced in our own party room . Food was delicious and the service was brilliant. Highly recommend

Just had another annual meet up with some old mates at the Castle, a great night, the food and service were up to the normal standards, will be booking it again next year, keep it up.

Hi, after we were seated we made a drinks order. After 10mins we made a food order. The drink still yet to arrive. Food came out to table. No salt and pepper on the table. Didn’t ask if we would like any sauces to go with Sunday roast. After 5mins of food being on the table drinks finally came. Food was ok, but not as good as it used to be. Overall a good meal but drinks could have come quicker

Had an absolutely fantastic meal here with my bridesmaids the night before the wedding. The food was beautiful, I had a pizza…really crispy crust and perfectly cooked. There was a good selection of choice, a delicious Malbec and stunning desserts! We were so well looked after, couldn’t have asked for better service!

We had a great night, but didn’t think the band was as good as when we came 2 years ago. Food wasn’t great and noticed the shots were poured out but not given out and put back into bottles, not good practice. The staff were brilliant as always.

What a fantastic place! Fourth visit here, working locally. Just had an amazing Sunday roast, beef seasoned & done perfectly (would of liked a larger portion but realise cost of quality) side vegetables cooked just the way I like, homemade cauliflower cheese lush. And previous visit great pizzas, everyone in our group loved. An d music & beers on a Friday! Fantastic place… only problem don’t actually have rooms to stay at 👍👍👍

Grab yourself one of their pizzas, they are spot on. There is also a large choice of drinks to wash it down with. Note that between 2pm and 5pm, they only serve pizzas. The lunch time menu and evening menu are excellent, this is reflected in the restaurant and seating areas being booked up rapidly, especially at the weekend. If you fancy it, they have an excellent music venue, which on Friday nights books local bands, which is free, but then Saturday nights feature touring cover bands, these gigs require a ticket which vary in price. Last time I was there, they had a top Elton John Tribute Act.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch today. Sevice good & food was excellent. The roast beef was very succulent, it nearly melted in the mouth. The roast potatoes & Yorkshire pudding were cooked to perfection.

Four of us came for dinner tonight last minute and hadn’t booked a table yet lee pulled us a table together last minute and his service was amazing can’t thank him enough was so pleased with the pizzas they are lush!!!

A friendly and popular pub with a good chilled out vibe to it. I've not tried the food yet so can't leave a review for that, but definitely will go again.

Just been for tea, we had pizzas and the chicken thigh burger - delicious!! The staff were so lovely and attentive and the atmosphere was just nice - not too noisy, friendly. Would absolutely recommend!!

This was a 90th Birthday party planned from Aberdeen by email, the coordinators were Georgie and Kelly. Couldn't have been better. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The food was lovely. Everyone commented that portion sizes were ideal. This means you can manage 3 courses without feeling to full at the end and enjoy the range of tasty delights on the menu. Good range of drinks from the bar. Staff were pleasant and helpful at all times. There were a few things that might have made things even better, but, to be honest why mention them. Excellent job, a pub and restaurant that keeps on giving. Thank you to everyone involved. My 90 year old mum had a great time and that's what it was all about.

Starter and main course was lovely but the Eton Mess was not a proper mess and on reflection I should have rejected it. No Raspberries, little marangue and no wipped cream!

We had a lovely evening, everyone coped well with the heat thanks to the fan behind us (thank you Max) delicious food for everyone, great service considering the heat the staff were smiling 😊 Delicious brownie and raspberry sorbet and looking forward to tasting Dylan’s next cocktail creation.

Came for a wedding, it was cute and hosted it well. Created a nice atmosphere of chilled vibes. The food was great, especially the desert of lemon meringue.

Went to see Eltonesque who were amazing as they’re the best tribute I’ve ever seen particularly as I’ve seen Elton in concert First of all anyone with a disability was discriminated by being made to sit together in the “invalidity corner” at the back of the venue - we all felt discriminated against - we could not see anything as we had to sit on stools. We should have been treated with respect and ensured we had proper chairs - in fact we should have been allowed at the front so the remaining people all stood up could be behind us. Secondly we could not hear the act - we had all paid to see the act instead the majority of people in the venue were chatting shouting which was not only rude but made it virtually impossible to hear the act we had paid to see! I have given Eltonesque a great review as it was not their fault

Had the best time at the Elton tribute night!

The food is fantastic. love the menu as there aren't pages of options and everything I have ordered has been exceptionally good. Hats off to the waiting staff also - they are attentive without being too intrusive and are very friendly. The atmosphere/ decor of the place is very inviting, as well.

Very good food, a bit pricey for Sunday Roast!

Food was good for vegetarians, not a huge choice for vegans but definitely healthy and a lot of care had gone into the menu to make the veggie/vegan options exciting, the bruschetta was very small but totally delicious, nice goats cheese, pine nut and sweet potato salad but the dessert was the best part, I might order just desserts next time, eton mess charred peach and blueberry

We arrived for one of the later booking times, was advised to order before 9 but we were never offered dessert. They were very busy, it was a Friday night, this could have been the reason, maybe they were understaffed? The food was beautiful though!

We eat here fairly often, great atmosphere as always but food not as good as usual this time. Chicken burger was dry and over cooked and bread had gone soggy with too much chutney. Beef pizza and sweet potato fries were good. Need better quality olives for the 'Bread and olives' dish. Cocktails were slow to arrive but very nice when they did!

First time visiting this venue on Friday 4th...what a fabulous place..the staff were super attentive quick..and efficient ...the atmosphere was very welcoming...watching the band midnight angels who were brilliant ..everyone was up dancing and friendly...perfect evening

Took the family down to The Castle for dinner on a Friday night. We booked in advance and they'd just released a new menu. The food was absolutely mouth watering, the kids enjoyed their dishes too and cleared their plates. The staff very friendly and efficient, the restaurant area was clean and tidy and we enjoyed our time at dinner. Thanks team!

Wow what can I say? I booked a table for 9 of us on a hen party and we simply had the best evening we could have asked for! We were given our own room upstairs, which they decorated for us with a separate bar we could use. The food was delicious and generous portions. The cherry on the cake was our server Dylan, he was happy, helpful, charismatic, entertaining and knew how to keep a group of hens happy - drinks, drinks, drinks! Meanwhile a party was happening downstairs so the atmosphere in the whole place was electric. We couldn’t have had a better night, highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing experience for my daughters 18th birthday lunch. From the communication leading up to, to the actual day. I can’t fault anything. My balloons were placed on the table, the leaning cake of doom, which by all accounts I never expected to still be standing when it was brought out! (This was down to my speedy driving and corner taking skills, or lack of!) everything was as discussed and the food just topped it all off. Thank you everyone, this will always be a special place now.

Great place for nice food and live music. Would definitely recommend, the food was lovely (particularly the pizzas which are very generously sized - the calzone was amazing!). All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great, with different sections - pub vibes at the front, then a lovely restaurant area and then an amazing set up function room at the back where we went and watched the live music. There’s also a little garden area which was nice to sit out in the sun! Will definitely be visiting again!
