The Castle Hotel in Denbighshire

We didn't stay here,we were staying at other accommodation but we called in 3 times for food,drinks and breakfast on one of the mornings.Nice place,good food,great staff.Lovely views at the back of the hotel overlooking the valley.Nice seating areas.Plenty of parking which you do need to pay for,not expensive.Food and drink very well priced as you expect from a Weatherspoons.We found it clean and so we're the toilet facilities.Well worth popping in if your in the area.We would definitely go back.

Staff are absolutely run off their feet. The whole place (we stayed for two nights) could do with a complete cleaning from top to bottom. Tables were sticky and grubby and left cluttered from previous guests, unless you sorted it yourself. Coffee/tea machines out of order. Milk jug always empty. Our room (104) had (arguably) the worst view we’ve ever experienced staying in a Wetherspoons hotel(and we’ve stayed in many). The room itself was functional but could do with a better degree of cleaning. Noise from the other hotel guests was barely tolerable and I’m sure we contributed to that too. We didn’t complain in person to the management, as we actually thought it would be futile. Some of the staff are trying their best (you can see that)but others (bar staff especially) are just treating their job as a joke. No personal interaction with customers and very little warmth. I’ve been a pub landlord so I understand the business and how customers should be made to feel comfortable and happy in their surroundings. You don’t get that here and that is something that filters down from the management hierarchy. I asked a question of the receptionist regarding parking. His slow intake of breath and loud exhalation gave me the impression of “ good grief, not that question again “. This hotel/pub will always take money because of the tourist trade. It’s a shame that they don’t appreciate the customers.

Lovely and interesting old building. Plenty of space. A very wide menu at great prices. Parking at the back (pay). Staff were friendly and quick. Food was absolutely fine and it came quickly despite warnings of a long wait. The usual tables not cleared or wiped down however it was Father's Day. Coffee was fine and drink as much as you want. The hotel is located in the centre of the town.

Brilliant prices but dirty uncleared tables and glasses. We had to ask a member of staff to clean our table which he was happy to do. Within the same room there were several tables in the same condition that were simply left!

So we had a family wedding(which was a towering success of a day by the way) in the beautiful North Wales town of Ruthin.what a picturesque place.just stunning.We booked to stay for two nights in the Castle Hotel,which is a wetherspoons,with the pub attached to the Hotel.so you know what comes next.....Cheap beer,great food!!!!The Hotel is brilliant,well priced,big room,very clean,great shower,and a bed that was soooo comfortable,topped with a feather set of pillows and duvet.I was actually pleased that you have to pay for parking,just so I had to get up,or I think I may well of just stayed in bed.All the staff of both pub and Hotel were really friendly,infact everyone was,which coming from the Inner city made a lovely change.This place is so calming and quiet we have to go again soon.Hats off to the management team,you have it nailed guys.well done you.We have never stayed at a wetherspoon hotel before,but after this experience we shall do quite alot in future.they have Hotels all over Great Britain so please use them,but make sure Ruthins Castle hotel is on you 'to go' list,you wont be let down.

Popped in for a quick lunch on a busy Thursday.We used the table app to order food and drink which worked really well.My partner had tomato and basil soup which was great. I had grilled halloumi for starters. When it arrived, it was a little burnt but the waitress exchanged it quickly without any problems.My partner had chichen burger for main, it looked good. I had the lamb shank which came with veg, mash and gravy, and a drink for £9.99 - bargain! It was a good size, cooked well and really tasty.I have nothing negative to say about my experience at this restaurant, we have eaten here many times and always found it to be excellent.Will definitely be back!

After a four hour drive, walking into this beautifully renovated building for a spot of breakfast on a quiet Sunday morning was most welcome, it was warm and inviting and far busier than I would have thought. The food was hot and well presented and the neverending tea or coffee a great idea. Another feather in the Wetherspoons cap.

Lovely old building with lots of places to sit. Still busy on a Tuesday night, but easily found a table. Quick service at the bar, food came out quick and warm and great value with a drink included.Ordered pudding but one not warm like on the menu, however my partner had both puddings so he enjoyed it.

Family enjoyed veried breakfasts, all excellent, only downside is the local car park £2 for more than an hour, not pubs fault but found local free on street parking.

Visited the Castle Hotel while staying in Ruthin, we found the bar really comfortable and friendly, the bar staff were very friendly. For the value we had 2 steak meals perfectly cooked and a bottle of wine for £25. Unbelievable and fantastic service!! Highly recommended!!

Went for lunch here - very reasonably priced food but pay for what you get. The main restaurant room was absolutely thilthy, very messy and generally dirty. Cleaners do not move anything to clean and a very unpleasant area to eat in

The Castle Hotel in Ruthin is a beautiful, very old building that you can dine in, stay in, sit in the outback beer garden and take in the stunning views of the area. (Please note there is a large Pay & Display car park just a tiny bit of a walk down from the back of the building itself.) We piled in after driving the Horseshoe Pass and gawking at all that outstanding natural beauty and then proceeded to have the best, crispiest, tastiest pieces of fish at a Wetherspoon's ever! Oh what a treat! What beautiful pub it is too! What great value for money! Perhaps we can make time to return for another go round of Fish & Chips! Would be worth it!

Like many in the chain, this is the biggest and busiest place in town. A great old building, lots of room and very popular. Only downside was the WiFi seems a bit intermittent making it difficult to use the ordering app but more than made up for by the friendly staff

Me and Hubby were taking a walk around the market town of Ruthin on Wednesday when I was drawn to this prominent (3-storey) Georgian building (Grade 2 listed). It used to be a coaching inn known as The White Lion. Wetherspoons took it over in 2011.

Never again I’m truly disgusted with this place.

Bar choice of drinks was very good at extremely good prices however as you would expect from a Wetherspoons the food was cheap and cheerful Staff very friendly.

This was our second visit to this hotel in the last couple of years mainly because we like Ruthin and find the Castle Hotel meets our requirements, clean, tidy, well run and good value for money. As with all Wetherspoons the drinks are cheaper than your average pubs and the breakfast menus are excellent and we certainly enjoyed ours. In the afternoon we sat out in the patio area and ordered delicious ham and cheese paninis together with a pint of Brains SA ale and Gordon's Pink gin and tonic, great value at £11.18.

This is a spoons, if you go in expecting anymore then that is your own fault, spoons are fantastic at what they do, fast, hot & reasonable food, this will not let you down if that is what you are after.

Came to the castle hotel on 10th August and ordered a side of halloumi with mains the first one we found hair on it so told the waitress and she replaced it! Second side of halloumi looked disgusting and I would even say it was inedible. Someone needs to learn how to cook halloumi

The castle Hotel is a wetherspoons, over the year's drank in a lot of wetherspoons but this one is a one off with a lot of history attached to the building that's not been hidden friendly and welcoming staff, views outside of the hills amazing very chilled out

Went for lunch; staff were friendly but the only free tables were covered in previous diners dirty plates and glasses (we were there around 130 - 2pm). Concidering this is a Wetherspoons I love the cheap drinks.
