The Castle Cafe in East Riding of Yorkshire

Went in at 2pm on Sunday afternoon for some food as we were hungry my partner ordered ham egg and chips and I ordered a cheese sandwich which came with coleslaw and salad and I ordered a portion of chips . We both had a coffee and the total bill was £20.45 . Our coffees arrived first and were in lovely big mugs which was great. My sandwich was next and it was cheese and onion on lovely soft white sliced bread the coleslaw accompanying was homemade and gorgeous the salad was a side salad which was fine. My partners arrived next and it was 3 slices of cheap wafer thin ham ( the type you could get from supermarket for about £1.50 ish for 20 slices the chips were dark brown and hard 2 eggs were served with this and one of the eggs was hard the other snotty and gross! My partner had eaten some of the white of the egg before he noticed it was undercooked and took it back to show them his plate was taken away then brought back with the same egg just refried to be now hard and the snotty bit was left on his plate. My chips now arrived once I was more than halfway through my sandwich and they were well cooked and delicious . My partners meal was vile and the chips were definitely refried. He found this meal that cost £7.90 to be an absolute rip off and needless to say we will not go back and to all those visiting do not have ham egg and chips because you will sadly be very disappointed and angry at paying for it

We visited these guys twice whilst staying in Withernsea: we bopped into their outside seating area for a drink & cake with our dogs when we first arrived & returned for breakfast a couple of days later. We chose them as they are dog-friendly & they offer a veggie breakfast - they also publicise ex-services charities & Andy's Man Club - well done guys. The staff were all fab & the food was good too - definitely a top spot to visit.

Visited Withensea for the day. We popped in for lunch. Had the all day breakfast. Delicious and excellent value for money. I had the small one and was pleasantly surprised with my plateful! ….Friendly staff, quick service, and nice and clean. Definitely be going back.

Excellent location on the promenade serving great breakfast quickly and with a smile! Outdoor seating both in front and behind means you can avoid the wind in one or the other. Covered cubicles in the rear are useful too. The proprietors actually support Care after Combat too. Highly recommended

Absolutely fantastic breakfast, 10/10. Lovely owners and a great atmosphere, we sat outside in the den because we had our dog with us. Lovely to see that they cater for everyone, bikers, dogs, kids etc. We will visit again before our holiday is out.

Dropped in for an impromptu lunch with my partner and three kids. Everyone enjoyed the food and left with full bellies. Highly recommend the steak pie chips and gravy. Proper hand cut chips and gravy to die for. Will definitely call again should we pass through withernsea

Go here most Thursdays for the bike night. The food is way over priced, oven chips and dry steak pies shoved in the microwave. Most people use the chip shop then just hang out at the cafe. Definitely would NOT recommend eating there.

I had the roos butchers pie and handout chips and it was beautiful! My auntie had the cheese burger and really enjoyed it too! The childrens meals was great portion sizes! The staff was so lovely and friendly! We will definatley be back!

Asked for crusty bread sandwhich looked at me like I was stupid they said they have the crusts off the bread they then put it on a bap and not bread to make the sandwhich they put the napkin under it so it was stuck to the food the mushrooms were cold and as a whole not impressed disgusting won’t be going back again

Popped in here for lunch. Outside is unassuming but warm welcome inside. Thought food appeared quite expensive but portions are large and food is delicious. Honestly, this was the best steak pie ever, full of steak, apparently from the butcher at nearby Roos. Accompanied by a massive portion of chips and peas, I won't need to eat for the rest of the day.

Lovely food and nice seating area outside which is dog friendly. Breakfast was great as was the Pie and Chips. Massive portions so we didn’t leave hungry.

Just awful. Real greasy spoon quality on this visit. They use those awful frozen cara bread buns that disintegrate once moist/warm. No homemade cakes, all thaw and serve or artificial looking bought in cakes. Coleslaw was nice homemade.

We called in for coffee and cakes. I bought a piece of angel cake which looked lovely and a home made scone for hubby. Unfortunately the cake was very dry so I took it back to be told it was fresh that day. (Perhaps it should have been wrapped individually) There was no other cake I wanted so I opted for a scone. Great stop off for bikers. Owner is a biker and staff are amazing and friendly. Great food and drinks and staff are always welcoming. Thursday nights are usually bike nights so bikers if you’re near pay a visit and chat with some fellow bikers. Called into the Castle Cafe on our last day in Withernsea because we knew we could sit outside in the sun with our two poodles.We ordered the fish and chips which was a great choice,the fish had crisp batter and tasted delicious and the chips were just has tasty, I have to say that they were better than any we could have bought from a chippy.I would recommend a visit for some great home cook food.

Ordered Fish and mushy peas (28/06/2020) First time to Withernsea and tried the fish here as Trip Advisor it had 4.5 rating. The fish was small and I would argue the fisherman’s left overs! Tasteless fish and runny peas! There must be better in Withernsea

This cafe is extremely well run, all staff are very welcoming and pleased to help and serve. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. A very clean and friendly cafe. We always use castle cafe on our way to our caravan, never dissapoints. Keep up the great work. The lasagne I highly recommend but all the food is good quality purse friendly. Thursday night is bike night, you get to see some fabulous machines and very friendly riders. A real asset to Withernsea, keep up the great work.

Nice sausage and egg butty can tell it was cooked to order unlike many cafes. Coffee is fresh not instant. They also sorted me out with takeaway. Staff are really friendly. Prices are very reasonable. I would go back anytime.

I went Friday dinner/ afternoon with the Mrs and family, looking around for food, their are a few too pick from , including bar meals, but i wanted a full breakfast, wife wanted salad, etc etc. we went to The Castle Cafe, we were very happy, Friendly staff, Nice and clean and good value,well worth a visit if your in that area.

Tried the castle cafe for the first time on the sunday morning between christmas and new year, went first thing at 8.30am as the cafe opened. What can I say, well I can't say enough. Both ordered the large breakfast and recieved a hot drink alongside with the extremely reasonable price, I have a very healthy appetite and couldn't finish it by far. Staff were extremely accommodating and very friendly breakfast cooked lovely would definitely recommend to anybody in the area. Very satisfied customer

Me and my partner are currently staying at Fairview Luxury Lodges, it’s our first time visiting the area. We were looking online for breakfast options and thought we would try out the food here to eat back at our lodge as we’d read really good reviews about the place on TripAdvisor. The cafe is in a great location, right on the sea front. We phoned with our order and was told it would be ready within 5 minutes for us to collect. We both had the large breakfasts which were delicious and reasonably priced. Good portion size to, very filling! The staff were also really friendly. Would highly recommend!

The staff (John and Nina) are very friendly, and pretty good at singing along to the local radio. Fish and chips were lovely, according to my husband. Good cup of tea, too.

A group of us went to Withernsea for the weekend and dropped by for fish and chips, the guy working there is fantastic and has a great sense of humour! He made us all laugh and went over and above just being polite and courteous, I didn’t have any cake but couple of the group raved about the homemade cheesecake! Needless to say we came back the next day for breakfast and a few more laughs. Defo pay a visit to this place, we most certainly will when we return another year.

Great staff and great food from the beginning to the end. Kids had a laugh and was greeted great and plenty of choice. Big belly buster for me and the wife had a small both exceptional and will definitely be returning on or next visit to Withernsea.

My friend and I went to castle cafe for our dinner, we both had the pork roast dinner. It was lovely and the pork melted in your mouth. We will be going back.

Excellent! Popped in as a family of four today starving and had absolutely lovely meals. Thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of my Yorkshire pudding wrap, beef was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

didn't risk eating when I asked if dogs were allowed and were told its not even fit for them, it looks like a condemned old bus station cafe that pumps its dirty dishwater into the rainwater drain, the parts of the footpath outside that arent blocked with their cars is covered in stupid display boards, I wouldn't use the place if I was paid to.

We are staying in a caravan at Withernsea sands. We could have easily ate on site at the restaurant but found this amazing cafe!

Our order was clearly taken but almost everyt plate had something wrong. Whilst we could have brought this up at the time, it was frustrating that so much was incorrect. One or two of the staff were intolerable. One loved the sound of his own voice and loudly told another customer "we hire people here based on their personality". If that's the case I think the Castle Cafe need to reconsider their hiring policy. The same staff member also looked at another customer's plate, undid some rolled up tissue that was on it and asked the customer why they hadn't eaten what was in it. Whether this is done in a jovial manner or not, I'd be mortified if I'd have been asked that.

We chose the castle for our family treat seaside dinner & Im so glad we did! The food was soooo nice! We had haddock & chips & mushy peas & sausages too. All was fresh not frozen. All cooked fresh to order. The cafe has 2 kitchens, one inside & one outside (the take away van) that does all the fish. Our food came from the van. The guy who cooked our food was really nice & friendly. I feel I’m gushing a bit but the food & service was really that good!

The cafe itself is clean and tidy with polite staff. But this is the second time we have been here since the new owners took over and no-one seems to know what there doing? Item's missing from the order, forgetting to make our cups of tea. The steak pie my husband got was dry as if it had already been warmed up once before and gone hard, peas missing from his meal too. My cottage pie potatoes where lumpy and didn't look appertising at all. The meals also have options of small or large. But to us all the meals looked the same size...

We came to Withernsea basically to blow the cobwebs off and had a stroll around the town.
