We went for dinner on Friday night, I had the fish and chips, my wife the halloumi and chips. They were the best fish and chips I have had probably ever. The batter was light and crisp, the fish was melt in the mouth, can not highly recommend enough. What made it even better, they were very accommodating with my wife's allergies. Can't wait to go back again

Noisy Valentine Evening A Valentine special meal was advertised for 14th/15th February but we opted for Saturday 15th because there was a singer. We decided to make a night of it and dressed for the occasion. We arrived at the bar and it was quite noisy, the barman had difficulty hearing my order and served me the wrong wine. We were show to our table and were disappointed that there were too many, making it very tight between tables. The noise from the bar got louder. The food was very good (albeit the wrong accompaniments were served with my steak) By this time the noise was very loud and the language was blue. A fellow diner complained to the lovely wine waiter who then went into the bar to ask them to quieten down but to no avail. The chef had obviously gone to a lot of trouble to provide an interesting menu, but a rather expensive night was totally ruined. Needless to say, no one heard the singer. Management should have sorted it.

Great pub. We had a stop over for 1 night. We enjoyed the best dinner and breakfast of our 2 week holiday, and the wine and beer were first class. We really enjoyed all our meals, especially the triple cooked chips - cooked by Adrian himself. Will definitely be back. We had a great welcome and our 2 dogs were very well accommodated for. Thank You All 👍👍👍👍👍

What I got for £115 per night?? Well we arrived and had to park out back, pitch black no lighting car nearly got stuck in mud and me and my partner had to walk through mud and puddles upon getting out of car. Went in as soon as we got in the room we noticed a tile on the wall that had split down the middle and was hanging off wall, very dangerous and not what you want to see as soon as you arrive. The ceiling in bathroom was all cracked, the skylight looked to be falling in and debris had came through. Milks that were for cup of tea had gone sour, no tea spoons to even stir our tea with. Overall room was shabby and dated but the worst thing was the noise, the walls are like paper. I could hear my neighbors using the toilet and even putting the kettle on. Me and my partner got no sleep we were so disappointed that when we got up we went for breakfast early so we could get on the road, only to be told that breakfast was 9.30 In the room it says breakfast is served 8-10 and we were not told the night before it would be later. We didn’t go for breakfast, we got straigh on the road. Would definitely not recommend Poor service Poor rooms Very overpriced You will see below the owner say this is not a factual review. Everything in this review is factual regarding what time I got on the road is being petty. I’m sorry you don’t like my review but it is true there is nothing in it that is untrue. When you can hear your neighbor urinating that’s a big issue and definitely gives me enough reason to question the price per night rate.

Nice little pub with a separate building next door with rooms. Slightly dated rooms but great for 2 nights. Big shout out to the amazing chef Derrick. He was really good and friendly. We visited his chocolate shop in Bedale. Gorgeous stuff. Overall we were happy but the pub needs an update

Just went for Sunday lunch for parents birthday. Able to choose from the normal menu as well as Sunday roast which was a plus because not everyone wants a traditional Sunday lunch! All the food was amazing, and the chips were spectacular!!!! Service was great. We'll be back!

Visited for drinks with friends from the Yorkshire Driving Club. We were outside to be with our horses, but the pub is set in a lovverly well kept village and from footfall it is clearly a popular pub.

Stayed here before and loved it. Seems like it's changed owner/manager. Stayed for 3 nights, had no housekeeping services whatsoever (except the bin emptied) No bed made, no cups washed or replaced, no biscuits/coffee replenished. Food was great, pleasant staff, bed comfy. Loads of dogs, great if you don't mind them! Would I stay a fourth time? Possibly not.

In the heart of the charming village of Bedale, this should be an unmissable address! Superb setting, comfortable room (well, ok, the Wi-Fi is not the best, but who cares!), very good restaurant with tables near the fireplace where a lovely wood fire crackles, breakfast, the famous Full Yorkshire Breakfast is hearty and delicious. In short, we recommend!

We stayed for 1 night for a birthday on March 20th. The staff were very friendly and helpful to us and our dogs enjoyed all the fuss and of course all the treats. All food we had was excellent, cooked perfectly and served nice and hot. Many thanks to Aiden and all the staff for my birthday gift and card. We will see you all again very soon, Fred & Marilyn

Lovely place to stay. One night stay but we have booked for a 3 night stay later on in the year We were greeted by a lovely member of staff ( rude not to have asked for her name) who couldn't do enough for us. A credit to the establishment. The room was large and warm so warm I went to turn the radiator down only to see my wife scowling at me so I opted to leave it warm 😂. Great nights sleep on a very comfortable large bed. My wife wasn't hungry so only me for supper. I opted for the slow cooked brisket cottage pie. Was to die for. The only small complaint is the chips weren't chips. Skin on wedgies I would say. Proper chips would have made it better. But anyway it didn't spoil our experience. Now let's get on with the breakfast. Probably the best breakfast I have been served in all our years of traveling. All in all a 10* excellent nights stay. Well done to all involved. You know how to make your guest feel comfortable

Thank you Akbardarbar for an incredible tasting take away last night. Friends from Whitby travel to Guisborough for your food. We ordered extra meals last night as they took some home with them to freeze. The meals all arrived on time, hot and absolutely delicious. Thank you for the poppadoms.
