The Captains Table in Isle of Wight

Not bad , we came on a Friday afternoon and got a few drinks and some cheese chips , I think for the price I would want some more chips but apart from that they where nice

I was served quickly although I had to correct then on my order. a queue quickly formed as 2 staff stood around not doing much. I spent £6 explained I was going to see the lake in front of the cafe. Came back with my child to wash our hands with part of my order still in my hand to be told the toilets were for customers. I said I just spent money with you I thought I was a customer. I would never use a bathroom in a place where I wasn’t a customer without permission. Another member of staff then told me well you only bought a coffee so you could use toilet. I told her I bought 2 items, stood in their outside seating area and came back to use the toilet. My young child could hear the older female staff continue to berate me whilst I was in the bathroom. What an odd way to treat customers. I won’t be back

On a rainy day, a bright gem in Ryde. Great service and great food. Very reasonably priced Ava shall okay area for children 5 and under.

Found this place by accident while looking for somewhere to have breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The breakfast we chose had sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, grilled tomato, beans, herby potatoes and toast. Under a tenner. There was plenty of it and we couldn't eat it all! Food was cooked well and it arrived hot. Excellent value for money. Brilliant service. We were served by a lovely helpful lady that gave us some good information on where to visit.

Fabulous vegan breakfast and a sausage for George.

Supported are local today. 3 of us had Fish n chips, 1 had Burger and little one had Fish Finger and chips. We all had a good meal, value for money, cooked fresh. Have been before, breakfast is also good

The whole place was smashing and Olivia and Kaz were hot! (Kaz asked me to write this but I was happy to )

Always try to stop here when on the Island for a cooked breakfast if I can stomach it. Top quality butchers sausages too.

Lovely food ideally location next to the beach and the lake

Took the little ones here after fun swimming. Good value and the chicken nuggets were delicious. Kids rated it 10/10! Ice cream good value as well.

What to say about The Captains table. Overall a pretty good place. The food is nice and big enough. Service was friendly and fast. They have a small play area in the corner.

A nice cafe by the beach and lake. Had a lovely cooked breakfast and kids had waffles. Very welcoming. Can't help but think the paper plates, whilst advertised as sustainable, they would just be better with proper crockery/plates as it detracts from the quality of the food.

Good range of food served with efficiency and friendliness. The little play area was great for the 3 year old who played with the cups and plates etc. Reasonably priced and open on Mondays! Really tasty chips and fresh salad served with a panini.

we ordered a BBQ chicken panini.....didn't taste BBQ at all. it tasted off, almost sour. also found a hair in the food. Location is good, service is great. just the food could of done better.

The service was good, however the food was awful, we had 3 burger meals, all or which were inedible. I took them back and complained and was offered alternative food but no refund. Explained that We were working to a a tight schedule so couldn’t wait about, but that didn’t seem to matter. We were a large family on holiday so this didn’t go down well.

.Nice spot for lunch by the sea. Just back from the main beach and a lot more shade available. Have a good selection of food from light snacks to mains. Cakes are great too. Also sell alcohol and teas and coffee.

Had breakfast this morning and was amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed it and the black pudding was probably the best I've ever had.

Best food in Ryde for flavour, portion and price.

Would never go again. We took my dad there for a cooked breakfast and we were all disappointed. Food served on cardboard plates is not enjoyable and cups of tea in paper cups is definitely not expected either - we weren’t at a festival. Not good for the environment either, even if they are recycled afterwards. Why not use a dishwasher like everywhere else? They even call on a microphone when your food is ready so everything about this place screams I can’t be bothered. The breakfasts were small: one slice of toast only, very small sausage, very small piece of bacon and cheap beans and to top it all off the tea was an extra £2 which is expensive given that it was served in a paper cup - to me tea with a cooked breakfast is part of it so should come with. Also why an earth is the vegan breakfast more money when it comes with less? Why isn’t there a vegetarian one offered so that those that eat eggs can have one? My guess is that they won’t take customers opinions on board as I noticed they argue with those that have left poor ratings.

Wouldn't give this place even 1 star unless I had to. Awful experience. The establishment is dirty especially the toilets. Tables had not been wiped at all. My 6 year old received a sandwich and once he had eaten half of it I realised it had 2 thick black hairs in it which I can only assume came from a dog? My husbands meal was equally as bad, his fish had a terrible odour to it which was similar to that of sewerage. We think it was frozen fish that had been left out perhaps. Who knows but it was inedible. Complained to staff and pointed out the very obvious hairs and smell. We were refunded half of the cost and then the manager I think) blatantly lied and said she didn't know what we were talking about. Awful staff, awful dirty cafe and truly awful experience

Vile food fish smelt gone off and had what I presume was dog hair in my 6 year old child’s sandwich and blonde woman behind counter as as thick as 2 short planks avoid at all costs

I needed somewhere quiet to work with Wi-Fi over lunchtime with easy parking. It was empty. I ordered a baked potato with chicken massala from a rather sparse menu. I couldn't find a clean knife so wiped one with a napkin. Quite a long wait for a simple order in an empty cafe and when the meal arrived the potato was cooked in a microwave without a grill. The meat was cold and the sauce bland. The salad was varied and well prepared. All on a recyclable dish which was fair enough. The cafe is light and airy and the seat was comfortable. The service was friendly. The coffee was excellent. They do a breakfast menu but that stops at noon from memory which is a shame. Oh and the WiFi was not working. However the location is great and I would go back.

Ordered 3 fish and chips for 11.30 was told to come at 12pm. Arrived at 12 to be told it will be 10 or 15 mins!!! I ordered it to be ready at 12!! Why was it not started knowing I was arriving at 12?

Staff young, not really engaging. Quality overall is poor to be fair. Sorry but this place obviously thinks it's location is the winner but in reality the service and quality of food n drink are just OK at best!

Had to wait for some time to order and get our orders but the food was great overall. We got the regular breakfast set and we loooved the Deluxe Hot Chocolate Nutella (the best!) and funfetti cake for dessert ❤️ Would love to come back and try more of what’s on the menu.

Turned up around 1pm (their busiest time) was told 30mins wait for food so ordered and sat waiting at a table. The food came and all I can say is it was well worth the wait! Lovely fish, and the chips were great 👍. Well worth a visit if you want a nice fish and chips

Very surprised by this one tucked away, does the a nice burger & chips, ideal close to the beach.

We went there for a brunch, they offered an excellent vegan breakfast which I would highly recommend. They also have a vegan children's nugget meal which is both my kids thoroughly enjoyed. They still seem to be serving food in polystyrene takeout boxes which is my only gripe. Couldnt knock the food or the setting however and would highly recommend 👌

Medium Fish and chips was huge and great quality, very tasty. The cake was pretty good too and the tea was Twinings so happy with that.

Just had lunch here at the Captains Table I had the gluten free fish cakes with a lovely salad and gluten free chips... My husband had the "best" fish any chips all really freshly cooked and hot.. If you visit Ryde I would recommend you try it out

Just collect our picnic boxes, wow they look amazing, a fantastic spread. Mixed sandwiches, made exactly as requested for the fussier members of the family. Sausage rolls, fruit, a selection of cakes. Just perfect, thankyou.

The staff are very friendly and the service is good. Great selection of cakes so be aware of the risk of temptation. I have eaten there recently and I was impressed with the standard of food, and I will be using the establishment again. Well worth a visit.

Lovely meal, fish batter was a bit greasy but all in all tasty. Staff were friendly and a lovely play area and small bouncy castle for children, really pleased with that.

Lovely fish in a very light thin layer of batter. It was delicious. Chips were nice but not the best I've had, however they were not oily at all so that was good. Enjoyed the meal.

Lovely place to go to, I and the wife visited here for breakfast on Saturday when they first opened, we both had fry ups which took about 10 minutes to come out which I thought was very good for a place that had just opened, great breakfast, eggs cooked perfectly with runny yolks and no manky snowy whites. The staff were very perky for the morning time and it was a realy enjoyable exspirence

Very disappointed that you could not do beans on toast or omelette as you said this was only on your breakfast menu. I am on a diet which I did mention to you. You was serving Jacket potato with beans. I could not see the problem of just putting it on toast instead.

Run down but friendly cafe. As you enter there is a faint unpleasant smell, but staff are friendly, food is very cheap and very good. Just seconds walk from the beach!

Had full breakfast x2 raw mushrooms and cold when it came. Won't be going back again.

Now under new management, cleaner, tidier, better child play area. Staff friendly, food 100% better than previous offerings. Prices reasonable, plate covered, nice location by the beach.

Just wanted a cup of coffee but I was teated with great courtesy and they were helpful. Veto good choice too.

Wwnt with a group of people and most of the food came out warm and ine came out with tin foil in side the hunters chicken. Overall I wouldn't go back and it's not very clean.
