Went to meet up for a few drinks and go out for the night nice atmosphere and friendly service but my pint went flat in a minute so I never stayed

Several small steps leading up to the entrance, there is also a wheelchair lift. Extremely busy here but was able to find a table...ordered our drinks on the app.

Stopped here for a bite to eat after Mersey Ferry trip. Ideal place to refresh before continuing to explore Liverpool. Service was good and quick, very clean pub. Food is absolutely fine. Kids enjoyed nachos.

Ran out of eggs, but on the app it never had any warning of unavailable foods. Then when our food arrived we were given 5 hashbrowns. 5 I mean come on and then to put a piece of paper on the table telling us this after bringing us the food. Poor service and I won't be returning.

Noisy place though I would kind of expect this. Service was excellent and quick with one incident with a smashed glass cleaned up within seconds. Food was hot, properly cooked and well presented. Would I come here again though? If in Liverpool again then possibly.

An excellent pub when the roof beer garden is open. Otherwise rather ordinary. I've been told that the beer garden opens at 12, it doesn't always.

The first Wetherspoons I have been to that has had a roof terrace! Thankfully on my visit the sun was shining and we managed to find a seat for our large group in the corner. The roof terrace got very busy quickly so it may be hard to find a table sometimes, unless you are quick! Friendly staff and decent speed on table service!

First visit to this Wetherspoons, had breakfast here. Recommend sitting at the window overlooking the street opposite the railway station, some characters walk up and down that street, very entertaining.

Ordered large breakfast, and arrived with no eggs and no tomato. Only to be told the information is at the bar about an egg shortage. We ordered online and no information was present on the app. Just got extra hash brown. Nothing about the missing tomato! Later a cut out notice was placed on the table which said we could order any alternative item. Was told it was too late to change the order after eating half the meal. Sausages we're cold, beans in a thick stewed sauce (yes there was enough to say beans, but you could count them with out taking your socks off!) Worst breakfast I've had in years. Had a Toby carvery 2 days ago plenty of eggs and tomatoes along with everything else. Wetherspoons need to up their game, shadow of their previous selves or is it just this outlet. Throughly disappointed 😞

Very sad to have an experience like this. Got asked to leave by staff as they said they suspect us of doing cocaine in the toilets. I'm so insulted. I've never touched a drug in my life. I'm standing outside writing this now. I didn't even go to the toilets, so how i apparently did the drugs i don't know. Very insulted this happened and I can't believe this has been how we've been treated. I understand a drugs policy must be serious but to accuse people of taking drugs who have been sitting at a table the whole time is very disrespectful. Please train staff better here.

My biggest problem was the main doors at the front were locked. So in front of the whole pub, I had to walk up. Shake the doors and sadly trudge to the 2nd entrance on the side. Plz people put a clear sign up! I'm not one to care but I felt like an idiot.

I’ve been to this Wetherspoons a few times, and overall, the food and drink are pretty good—good prices, decent quality, and usually a nice atmosphere. However, I had a really unpleasant experience with a staff member that left me quite upset. I went in to ask about lost property as I’d misplaced a bag, and the guy I spoke to was cold, unapproachable, and quite aggressive in how he responded. It felt like he barely even checked, and the way he spoke to me was so dismissive that I honestly felt like crying after the interaction. He had short but messy hair that was thinning, was on the shorter side, and looked fairly young. Later, I saw him shouting at someone at a table, and it just reinforced how overwhelming and uncomfortable his presence was. It’s a shame because the rest of the experience was good, but his attitude really put a damper on things. I’d think twice before coming back if he’s working.

Order beers through the app, but the server was quite nice. As any other weatherspoon, it was full and there were a few chair open. We went for 1 drink and it was quick and nice

El Pub en sí es muy bueno, un bar de servicio largo domina la sala principal, hay una cocina abierta donde se puede ver las comidas que se preparan, decoración típica Wetherspoon y mobiliario, fotos del viejo Liverpool adornando el, hay una terraza exterior arriba, opciones de asientos en el frente y un montón de opciones de asientos repartidos por todo este pub, es simplemente un pub muy bueno para relajarse. Estábamos aquí un martes temprano por la tarde, este pub estaba ocupado con un gran ambiente, por suerte logramos conseguir una mesa de stand, un estudio rápido de sus cervezas reales que debo decir que me impresionó, para empezar elegimos cervezas Peerless Brewery, una ipa para mí, mientras que mi hermano optó por tener una cerveza pálida, estas se sirven en condiciones prístinas, nos relajamos y planeamos el día siguiente mientras bebíamos nuestra cerveza. Mi ipa era realmente bueno, un ipa crujiente, toques de caramelo con matices de vainilla, lúpulo pero no sobresalto , un ipa clásico servido en un pub británico clásico, mi hermano gemelo también le dio un gran pulgar hasta su cerveza pálida. Después de terminar nuestras primeras cervezas optamos por tener otra cerveza cada uno, yo fui por una cerveza pálida de Purple Moose Brewery mientras que mi hermano fue por una cerveza pálida de Phoenix Brewery, de nuevo estos se sirvieron en condiciones prístinas, nos sentamos arriba en su terraza de arriba y simplemente nos relajamos mientras disfrutamos de nuestra cerveza pálida. Los dos disfrutamos mucho de nuestra cerveza antes de seguir adelante, entre mi hermano gemelo y yo disfrutamos de cerveza de tres grandes cervecerías británicas. El Captain Alexander Pub es fácil de localizar a lo largo de la calle James. El horario de apertura es; Lunes a jueves, de 8 am a medianoche. Viernes y sábado, de 8 am a 1 am. Domingo, 8 am hasta medianoche. Vale la pena comprobar si estás en la zona o planeando un viaje a Liverpool.

we ordered milk and cookies and the blonde lady with the ponytail got annoyed at us and said we were playing the game and now our table has been blocked

All going to Dusney on Ice so nice stop off at this pub. Busy, clean and friendly l. But no coloring or activity sheet so kids peeved.

Typical Wetherspoons pub, apart from the toilets are on the same level as the seating areas!! Good friendly service.

Found a piece of plastic in my burger. Politely mentioned it to the staff so that the kitchen staff could be warned so that no other customers would get plastic in their food. The manager came over asking questions and it felt like he didn’t believe me or that I had put the plastic in my burger, including picking up the plastic on the plate with his bare hands 🤢. Not great honestly and ruined the vibes. Server was lovely though and checked up on me.

A nice vibe to the place, staff helpful and clientele are of the older generation.

Decent place, but the service was slower than expected. Ordered a drink, and it took quite a while to arrive, even though it wasn’t too busy. Not a huge issue, but it could have been better. Otherwise, the staff were friendly, and the pub was clean and well-run. Overall, still a good experience

Yet another fine Wetherspoons establishment, I dined and drank in here and ended up both full and approaching drunkenness, we moved on and increased our drunkenness levels elsewhere. The food was very good and the prices were great. Well done to the staff.

Very tightly packed in tables. Also feels strangely like a Frankie and bennies with the booths around the outside. And the recessed ceiling. No issues with the breakfast and drinks came quick. Just all the tables are very close together. Had a look up at the beer garden on the roof. It’s a large space. But surrounded by offices, so no view of anything.

Up there as one of the worst spoons I've visited , (2nd only to bradfords) you ordered a breaded vegetable burger and they bring you something different and claim it is said burger, when nit has no breadcrumbs on the patty. The chef then claims they don't do them , so without asking changes the order. Plus it's still on the menu. Poor service all round , noisy, cramped and if this was my first experience of a wetherspoon I would never go back

It was chokka! The chips needed another 10 mins cooking time but, even though it was busy, the drinks came fairly quickly. Order at your table.

Although the restaurant looked really busy I must say there seemed to be an issue with the stocks of food. On this day we were informed that they had run out of eggs and subsequently were not serving eggs with any breakfast meals. They also didn't successfully inform anyone that the hot drinks machines were not working properly, and when I advised that the drink didn't taste right I was told to go to the bar as they had run out of hot chocolate however the drinks were still being served from the machine and instead tasted like water. I would've liked it of the waitress had offered to take my drinks and discard them instead I did it myself. I'm hoping this was just a one off hiccup hopefully I'll try and visit again another time. I noticed from the menu they didn't offer pancakes so if you're looking for pancakes for breakfast, this is not the place. The kitchen area is in plan site of the customers which I thought was a nice touch.

Monday is the perfect day to drink cheap, quality beer. The place is usually full, but a table opens up soon so you can sit at your leisure. It's a cozy place and a good place to sit and chat.

Called in, Friday 14th Feb, walked past a few times since opening but furst actual visit. I was very impressed, a Wetherspoons pub for sure, but moderna and clean whilst retaining a classic feel of a traditional pub. Staff were outstanding, I was served in good time. I chose a meal after selecting a drink, the staff fell over me to ensure I had the service I needed. Nothing here any other Weathies wouldn't have done, but it felt great here. I was on my own, the usual Livepool punters welcone. I will be visiting here again, the food was spotless, I only had the Ham Egg and Chips as I have been ropy of late, it went down without touching the sides! I'm looking forward to the roof bar in summer if we get an actual sunny day! Thank you Weatherspoons, a superb effort.

Better than most of the wetherspoons in liverpool was well please with the service

I visited here on a Wednesday on the same night that Liverpool and Everton were playing. Not being in the least interested in footie, I wanted somewhere to have a reasonably quiet couple of hours after having travelled up from Birmingham. The food here is fine; I had lunch and evening meal. Nothing special in both cases but nonetheless entirely acceptable given the price. Friendly and sociable staff too, with a nice buzz. Recommended.

Fabulous pub, fantastic service and great value for money.

What a fabulous pub, incredibly busy but we were served immediately and our lovely meal came within 15 minutes and what a amazing value for money it was, we has the special, fish, chips, peas and an alcoholic drink of your choice all for £10.67! Bar staff were amazing and I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Liverpool.

There's an excellent Wetherspoon's pub on James street that offer's a superb range of well priced drinks and food and was one of the busiest pubs we went to on a pub crawl around the city centre. The Captain Alexander is a large spacious Wetherspoon pub that has superb fixture's and feature's relating to this fantastic area of the city centre and this brilliant pub.Its a superb pub with a superb patio area that's located up a flight of stair's. There's superb seating option's throughout it's whole interior and when we went here it was as busy as it get's.This is without doubt one of the busiest Wetherspoons in the city centre and is a real joy to visit.We visited in the early afternoon and it was packed but we managed to get a seat. When we visited here we had a few pints of cask ale's that where perfectly served and were really well priced as we had a couple of C.A.M.R.A real ale tokens which knocked off 50p a pint.Its a fantastic Wetherspoons pub in an excellent area and it's a pub well worth going to.(This is my fifth review of the Wetherspoon The Captain Alexander). Downstairs is a fairly standard city centre Wetherspoons. Busy, dimly lit, little bit sticky, cheap food & drink. Follow the signs for the roof terrace, though, and you'll find somewhere that is genuinely a hidden gem. It's clean & airy, brightly lit & coloured, partially covered so the whole area isn't totally exposed if it rains. There's loads of space that isn't used much so it's a great place to go with a large group on a busy day. Even though you're upstairs, staff are still very efficient when it comes to bringing food and drink ordered through the app. And it's still a Wetherspoons so you get those Spoons prices, plus the craft beer selection isn't bad either. It's silly that one of my favourite places in Liverpool is a Wetherspoons but it's such a nice space that I make an effort to come back here every time I find myself in Liverpool.

What’s not to like about Wetherspoons prices? Having said that it was extremely busy and loud. We popped in for dessert and a drink. Service was prompt and friendly and dessert was sweet and warm.

Nice clean sparkling Wetherspoon pub, right opposite St James station. It's much improved since my last visit. Not far from the waterfront and the Albert dock. Comfortable and clean inside... Very popular for cooked breakfasts in the morning. A mixed bag of customers from tourists, to office workers and workmen. It's a good Wetherspoons. Best one in the city centre.

Solid Wetherspoons. Great service either at the bar or via the app. Food arrived promptly and was nice and hot, usual Wetherspoons fayre. Bonus at this establishment, the toilets are on the ground floor and spotlessly clean.

Discusting service ate here at dinner time today ordered a chicken tikka curry without poppadoms as they contain coconut which I have an allergy to and told staff upon ordering Was waiting for our food and overheard the kitchen staff talking about our order was sat at table 6 a few feet from the order window one of the cooks was corrected on our order with the poppadoms and said "It's not a subway we don't make to order" to another member of staff Felt very unwelcome because of it I understand the need to vent especially when busy but doing it within earshot of customers is really tacky and makes you feel like a burden. The fact that I proceded to have a reaction after eating shows that they did put the poppadoms on my food and must have just taken them off If the manager sees this I'd rather not get people into trouble but maybe have a word with your staff about tactfulness and where it is really okay to talk about customers and where they shouldn't

On a bitterly cold January morning my twin brother and I dropped by The Captain Alexander Pub, probably the most popular Wetherspoon pub in Liverpool. I love the look of this Wetherspoon pub, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, typical Wetherspoon decor and furnishings, photo's of old Liverpool adorning the walls and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and upstairs on the outside terrace, it's just a great pub to unwind in. We managed to get a table as this pub was packed on our arrival, we had a study of their real ale's which I must say I was impressed with, we decided to drop anchor here for a good few hours and went to work on their real ale's. As we are members of C.A.M.R.A we have C.A.M.R.A tokens which entitle you to 50p off the price of a real ale or cider which makes a great value for money pint an even better value for money pint, on our visit we tried ales from Peerless Brewery ( winter gold & full whack ) Ruddles county ale ,Sharps Brewery Doom Bar,Greene King Abbot ,Loch Lomond Brewery ( lost in mosaic ) Nethergate Brewery ( white stout ) and all these real ale's were served in pristine condition by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their pub,its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition. We really enjoyed all our ale's in here before we moved on, had a great 2 hours plus session in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to The Captain Alexander Pub we had a great time. The Captain Alexander Pub is easy to locate along James Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, 8am till midnight. Friday & Saturday, 8am till 1am. Sunday, 8am till midnight. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

The best spoons breakfast we've had. It was warm, the egg yoke was runny and the bacon wasn't cremated like most other places!

Vi åt endast frukost här. Bra Engelsk frukost, finns även många andra frukostalternativ. Mycket folk kring kl 11 men vi lyckades alltid hitta ett bord. Man kan beställa via app. Bra och snabb service.

Cheap & cheerful. Prices very reasonable. People had obviously been out shopping and stopping off for a bite to eat...people dressed up and starting their night here. Something for everyone. We tried 3 small plates £14...chicken skewers, pizza, chips. All delicious.

Most dependable of the Wetherspoons in Liverpool. Food is consistently good and service is great. You know what to expect in these places and that's fine by me.
