Love the Capelrig,serves great food at great prices and the staff are so lovely.staff can't do enough to help and always happy to assist with our fussy eaters! Sandra especially makes our visits great-always happy to help and great with the kids,couldn't be more helpful and friendly 5 ***** service.To be honest all the staff are good and very pleasant. The food is great value and good portions and even day has a different deal to allow family dining at great value prices.cannit recommend enough.

Lovely late lunch with great service from our waitress Sandra who said the Fish and chips was awesome. My partner ordered and was thoroughly impressed.

First time visiting and I was pleased to see all social distance measures were followed. Our waiter Nicola was lovely and very accommodating. We will be back soon, thanks again Nicola.

First time visit to hungry horse. Nicola our waitress was very friendly, smiley and helpful...she was great with my mother who lets say is just a bit nervous eating out with all the restrictions. But Nicola put her at ease and made us feel safe. So for that alone i will be bringing my family back for more!!Food was nice, good prices and nice atmosphere

Visited last week with my family and we were served by Nicola who was very friendly and accommodating, along with the other staff. I had the haddock and chips which was lovely and my husband had the steak which was perfectly cooked, followed by the chocolate fudge cake. The portions were a very good size and for a great price. The measures put in place to follow COVID guidelines were excellent and we felt very safe. Can’t wait for our next visit.

I visit the capelrig a lot and enjoy having a drink and a burger in the bar regularly. All of the staff are always very nice, particularly Nicola who served me the last couple of times I was in. She was very chatty and checked back on me to make sure everything was ok. The food is always great so no complaints from me. The only downside is there being no music or TV noise to watch the football but that just shows that they are following COVID restrictions well. Thumbs up from me.

We got served by a lovely girl called Nicole. Service and food was fantastic. Food was fast and warm.

Great social distancing standards which made us feel safe. The food and drink prices are great for the local area. Only down fall is the service, the older waitress who served us seemed a bit off with us (especially my grandson) and lack of certain condiments that should of accompanied our meal.

I visit the Hungry Horse often with both friends and family. All of the waiting staff always make me and the group I am with feel welcome and safe. I can’t remember everyone’s names, but Sandra and Amy often approach the table to welcome us back and treat us as regulars. Wouldn’t think to go anywhere else in mearns for a drink as the staff are so friendly.

Come here all the time with my friends and have drinks and food most times. Love most of the staff. Sandra always makes our night and caters for us well. Amazing service always with a smile. Highly recommend !

I am a regular at the Capelrig and I always get served by her , she is a credit to the restaurant and my family and Friends love her . She makes sure we’re all looked after and is a great person . She is a superstar and honestly makes me want to visit time after time .

Visited Capelrig on several occasions!!! Served by a very nice lady called Sandra many times, who is a great member of staff! Always so very happy to see us and very attentive with me and my family receive excellent customer service from her!!!! And always has a cheery face food has alway been fab! Thanks Sandra.

visited the Capelrig and managed to get a table without booking as the staff had a cancellation which the offered us straight away. Set up was brilliant, clearly defined and well explained routine for social distancing etc. Food was great, I had the scampi and chips, my wife had haloumi and chips and wee one had the build your own kids pasta, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food! Wee one had chocolate ice cream and fruit for dessert which looked fantastic and the wee one demolished! Sandra waited our table and she was great, very friendly and helpful, a credit to the team at the Capelrig. Overall, very good service and food, brilliant experience. Thank you!

First time here and would have given 5 stars except for one thing - they had ran short of several items on the menu. The prices are good, the food was lovely and inside the restaurant is fine. The waitress, Sandra, was chatty and helpful. If only they had the dessert we asked for it would have been perfect. We will be back - hopefully to a full menu.

What a great find! Great good at a great price. I was impressed with the service and friendliness too. Highly recommended, and the daily deals are terrific.

Squashed in, staff realised when we politely advised. Customers were happy to move for social distancing but another female member of staff arrived and started arguing. The member of staff did advise it was OK as long as tables were 1metre apart but there was no room to push the chair back a little to stand up comfortably. We didn't feel safe and left

One way system, NHS contact tracing, service with visors, hand sanitisation, cleaning after each punter......and all this b4 getting a drink!! Welcome to the new norm. Staff were excellent, drinks good, experience?!?!?

Just visited with our grandkids and great to see The Capelrig up and running for the first time in many months. Excellent service (well done Sandra), first class food and in these surreal times a comfortable environment due to their staffs constant attention to cleanliness. Really good value for money for the family and well worth a visit.

We visited last Friday for an early evening meal. The staff were attentive. The food was average but we had a good night despite a hiccup with the pie, the pastry was rock hard and stone cold inside, however I ordered another dish which was dealt with pretty quickly. We also called for breakfast the following morning. Again the staff were attentive so all in all pretty okay.

Okay so my kids enjoyed it that’s why I gave it 2 stars

I visited the Capelrig today and found the experience very enjoyable. The service was good and quick and great value for money. There was a good selection of food on the menu, all at a good price. There is also an outside play area for children

Never known a pub chain to be so lazy, obviously couldn't be bothered taking their Christmas tree down so they turned it into a Valentine's tree. Not really in the spirit of Christmas and confusing for children.

Love to visit this place for a pint and a spot of food. Great atmosphere great sport on the tv great beer. Love the service from the staff. Dave Liza Sandra really know what customer service is all about. Always smiling even under great pressure makes your visit worth while. The other guys are great to Elliot Vicky Brendan Annie. Food is tasty and wholesome. Always great deals on . Wednesday's are great as you can get a lovely curry and a pint for a fiver. See you all soon.

Quick lunch when passing through the area, overall what you would expect nothing to fancy. Service was pretty good .

the food is cheap and cheerful the selection is big to suit everyone nothing is a problem staff are friendly children friendly food is tastey only slight negatives the glasses can be dirty/smelly , more attention to cleaning would be good

Colleague and I ate here for a festive lunch. Menu and prices were fantastic - £11.95 for 2 courses. We both had the same 2 courses: Prawn Cocktail and 8oz Steak & Chips. Both dishes were awesome! :)

A food range of food from the menu. Served good pub food fairly quickly even though it was busy. Tasty, hot and recommended.

Always quick and good nice food, staff lovely too. Go often with my nephew and never have any complaints.

Been here a few times in the past and found the food fine for the price. Typical pub food.

Excellent service and varied menu with reasonably priced fare. We were a large family group with young children and found everyone to be child friendly. Will definitely return and would recommend to others.

Have been in here numerous times since they opened. Have always found the staff to be incredibly friendly and helpful. Varied menu with various nightly special offers, offers great value for money.

The food is excellent and very reasonably priced ( The Steak and Ale pie is my favourite) In addition the service from Sandra was friendly and efficient. It was a wet day outside but the meal really cheered us up.

Called in at 11am for breakfast and was greeted by a really nice lady and gent. Great service from both. Breakfast arrived and was not great at all. The wife had ordered scrambled egg and toast and the toast was burnt and just fell to bits. My full breakfast also came with burnt toast, bacon soaked in fat, half cooked eggs (white runny). I just tucked into the potato scone and left the rest. The gent was nice enough and offered to make both ours fresh, and we declined as had a plane to catch, and just enjoyed our coffee. Paid the bill in full and left. Great staff but could have been even better if they had discounted the toast and some of the breakfast from the bill. That would have been great customer service.

Excellent service from ANDY the waiter and the food was amazing. Well worth a visit there. Recommend the gammon steak.

Colleague and I went here for lunch. We had 2 Meals for £9.99; Haddock & Chips Chicken New Yorker Coke and a Lemonade - £4.70 !!!!

The Capelrig Bar/restraunt is the best local pub around our area. The service is very good, great deals and I love the adults only section.

Lovely meal and good service good value for money in drinks and staff were very helpful long wait time for meals but this was over sept weekend so kinda expecting that

This venue is one of my favourite places for a family meal, always plenty of choices for everyone, the food is always hot when it arrives, if anything the service on receiving our drinks from time of ordering could possibly be a little quicker in my opinion.

This is a great restaurant for a meal food is great and tasty,service very quick and the staff are very cheery

Visited here on sat night, restaurant was very busy, we were welcomed by a lady at the door, she was very helpful and managed to get us a table quickly. Service was great as the staff are really friendly and the food was really good.

It's not fine dining and the wine list isn't fancy but the staff are so friendly that none of this matters. Food is good quality for the money and the drinks are extremely well priced. It does what it says on the tin. Will always pop in when I'm in the area.

Visited the capelrig on a saturday evening and ordered the £15 deal which was 2 adult mains, 2 kids meals and a massive ice cream desert. Absolutely fantastic value. Food is what you'd expect for the price. Fish and chips was lovely. Served by sandra who was very pleasant and provided a great service. Good atmosphere for families. Small play area which kept kids (5 & 6) busy.

Stopped by here today on chance. 4 adults looking for lunch. Comfortable enough although had to ask for the table to be cleaned. Ordered 4 meals and were surprised that it was £9.99 for 2. However I have to say this is the worst meal out I have gad in years. Mac and cheese was terrible and the ciabatta bread unedible. The side salad was a handful of tasteless leaves. My mum asked for a white coffee which came without milk, when we asked for milk we were given a glass of milk with ice cubes in it!!!! I tokk it back and explained we needed milk for the coffee not as a drink and it was swapped. Didnt stop them adding a pound to the bill though.

The restaurant was very busy, very noisy with children running about.. This is not a good environment to enjoy a meal. Football fans were swearing within earshot of children. Staff were pleasant but the food was disappointing. The roast beef burrito was dry with no vegetables given just poor quality chips.

Came here for a breakfast and got what I wanted. The breakfast was very good and cooked mostly very well. The bacon was a bit on the pink side for me but the staff were very friendly and did say that I could of asked for it to be crispy if that was what I wanted. Would definitely recommend it.

The Capelrig offers excellent value for money, a relaxing ambiance and first class customer service. Unlike most Hungry Horse restaurants this one provides friendly and efficient table service. Well worth giving it a try.

Aye the food was minted. A hud some fish and chips. Wisnae enjoying the telly though a hink ye could'ae put a mare minted show on. Overall it wis a sound place and the food came quickly so aye, minted.

Dinner was of large proportions and good value. Quality average and service needs to be improved. Best summed up as value for money

The bar and lounge were very busy and the atmosphere was good however the tables needed cleaned as there were spilled drinks, plates and dirty glasses left lying for the period I was in the bar area.

7 of us were at The Capelrig for a birthday, it was a perfect night. The food & drinks & service we got from Liza was amazing! Will definitely be back.

Eaten in her the last 5 nights whilst staying at premier inn next door the level of service from every member of staff and value for money was first class nothing too much trouble 100%

Just came off the motorway looking for a place to eat and found this place within 30 seconds. Excellent value with good food and very good service from all the staff, Sandra who served us was very good and the facilities were excellent

Terrible food at the Capelrig. Pride themselves on big hearty burgers. Ordered a Jack Daniels burger and it was terrible. Tiny patty, one slither of streaky bacon, one tiny slither of red onion and no jack Daniels sauce. Thought I was given a kids meal.

Eat here quite a lot and have to say that Sandra is a fantastic member of staff, she constantly checks in on your table and has a lovely friendly manner, she remembers lots of small details that make a bit difference and also keeps you up to date with offers to make sure you are getting the best deal for your money, nothing is too much bother for her and even when she’s going off shift she comes over to say goodbye and to let you know who she is handing over too. She’s just epic !!!

Come here for lunch/dinner quite a lot and enjoy every time although the staff are questionable. Barry in particular is rude and has no customer service skills. I think the staff need a few tips on how to work with the public!

I went to this restaurant with my Daughter and Son in law and my children's uncle. The service was exceptional and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend this place

Ian & I ate, yet again, at the Capelrig. Food was great, Table staff, Andy & Sandra, were attentive but not overpowering.The prices are very reasonable...check out the special deals. Little wonder the Capelrig is so popular.

Just want to.praise the capelrig for the service myself and my wife get every time we visit. Lisa, Andrew but in particular Annie. Always there with a bright bubbly smile. Quietly efficiently serving. She deals well with the patrons who have had a few more than they should. My wife is in a wheel chair but the staff treat her with dignity and concern if she's having a bit of a problem. The staff can be under severe pressure but they all pull through especially Annie as all I have to do is Cath her eye and a pint of best is expertly poured. Thanks again

Came with my friend for a few beers and some food, was pleasantly surprised! We sat outside and the staff were great. David welcomed us when we came in and helped us with menus outside, highlighting deals etc.

First the staff and the lady in charge were excellent apologetic etc and great service the starters especially cobo was excellent but went down hill from there.

On behalf of my husband and me we payed a visit to the capelrig house in Newton Mearns for lunch this afternoon and we went for the golden oldies menu and we were very impressed by the choices in the menu and the prices and the table service was fantastic we were looked after by ANDY well done and the place was very inviting and we will be back very soon the staff are a credit to your company thanks for everything cheers

I had been in recently for drinks with friends and was at the bar to get drinks. It was fairly busy so didn’t mind waiting patiently to order. However, waiting between 10-15minutes for a couple of drinks is totally unacceptable. The Capelrig advertise that they show live football matches, now as one of the few pubs in the area there’s always plenty of people into watch the games. Having nobody work the bar on the bar side isn’t providing good customer service. There’s usually one member of staff working their socks off serving customers, then others are either in the back or standing having a chat in the restaurant side of the bar. There should be at least 3 members of staff working a bar when it’s busy and on a normal day one or two. I feel if this is not corrected asap then a lot of customers will take their business and money elsewhere. The restaurant side of hungry horse is ran well but the bar, needs big improvements in terms of having adequate staffing on at busy times. Waiting for 10 minutes for a couple of pints when there’s one staff member running about isn’t good enough.

Visit spoiled today by an absolute jobsworth operating the till. Refused to give kids deserts at bundle price as hadn’t mentioned at time of ordering even though we’d added in drinks (note to you sir - maybe have the decency to ask if we’d like to order deserts as part of your bundle deal - also a visit to charm school wouldn’t go a miss!). Otherwise rest of staff really lovely and helpful and food fab.

We wanted somewhere that would suit 16 people from 9 month's to 83 years young menu choice and venue perfect for the occasion staff very helpful and friendly food all arrived hot and at the same time very impressed

We were here on father's Day, 8 of us came along without a booking and Joan managed to seat us. We had a short wait for a table as it was very busy. The food and the service were great, as always, the staff are very polite and helpful. We come here regular as were always made welcome.

Hello! Was in on Saturday for a dinner with my elderly parents! We were sat quickly at a table in the conservatory and served by a lovely young man “Ronan, like Keating but a rubbish singer”. Excellent food and brilliant service! Will be back

when you enter a restaurant you expect to have a warm and happy welcome and good customer service. well this was not case on my visit to the Capelrig. came for a meal with boyfriend and my niece and if she wasnt falling asleep in car we would have left straight away. the attitude from who I can only assume is a manager of sort was shocking. no smile and not friendly. asked for table was told busy I asked how long wait was and told half hour. I said that was fine and happy to wait. this was when he felt need to snap at me that he couldn't ask people to leave tables and then again to tell me he didn't have a crystal ball. I had no issue waiting and said this twice so no idea why he felt need to be so rude. I work in a really busy restaurant and even when stressed or busy would never speak to a customer like that. we got a table and young boy serving was nice enough. food however was another thing. the most vile thing I've ever had. not one meal was nice beef and ale pie New York chicken was horrible and kids pasta was hard and like rubber. niece couldn't eat it. no check back and when cleared plates I said about not enjoying and hard pasta all I got was a nervous laugh and walked away. dessert was tasteless and thrown together. basically a waste of time and money and we all left hungry. this was 2nd visit with bad service from same staff member and food issue but thought give another try. we will not be making this mistake again as we will not be returning. next time we will stick the the old plane tree (Marstons) as get a welcome and good food.

Had a great wee lunch here, kids had a ball in the play area, and very much enjoyed the food. Very attentive and helpful staff. Will be back!

My first visit was pleasant the girl serving us was very attentive and polite. Service was slow but she did apologise. Food wasn’t that great each of us had to leave food behind because of how it was cooked. I am one to give a place the benefit of doubt, however this evening was much worse. Granted it was busy, but the service was poor. Food wasn’t the best. Had to chase up orders and chase up the bill.

The bar needs to decide if it's a proper sports bar, the sports are on but no sound, music playing instead. The only time the sound is on is when a match kicks off, this is a big let down as the way the bar is kitted out is like a proper sports bar.

Met at the door without waiting and shown to a table. Gave us a short time to get settled and then came for drinks order followed by the food order. Time between courses was not rushed but just time to order next course. Excellent food and service could not have been better.

Visited the hungry horse with work friends on a night out ! Was expecting a nice night with some good drinks and laughs - did not expect to meet the faces of a moody bar tender/ manager who was especially rude whilst serving my friends and I. We were all a bit stunned with the icy reception from this particular staff member. Ruined our night as we were met with a sour vibe! Won’t be back until the bar staff improve their customer service skills!!!

watch out; staff do not challenge abusive and sexualised language from drunken customers; they do not support customers who find this abhorrent .

Good food, cheap price. As I live local there could be less sport on th big tv. This could reduce the noise level from the bar area
