Eat Deli in East Renfrewshire

Eat Deli is consistently the best offering for coffee and food in the Southside. Their coffee from Bei & Nannini (Lucca) is of such good quality, and it is prepared with care at Eat. The hot food and lunch options are reliably delicious. The Huevos Rancheros are a personal favourite. Eat Deli also admits dogs which is convenient for me as a dog owner, especially if visiting after a walk at Greenbank Gardens. I always try and pay a visit to Eat when I'm in Glasgow. They have also provided our Christmas dinner with their catering options for the past 3 or so years.

Visited this place based on google reviews. Absolutely loved it. Pleasant atmosphere, amazing staff and delicious food. A must visit whether you are craving for a revitalising coffee or want to stuff on a brunch plate.

There's a nice atmosphere inside the cafe and it was pleasantly busy. I had an americano and a slice of fritata, which came to about £14-15. It was a nice fritata, it came with a refreshing side salad, and the coffee was also good, but I think it was pretty expensive for what it was. I split my time between here and London, and I think it would probably be an average price in London.

Food is always delicious and the staff are helpful and friendly

Can't fault the food and menu but instead of a smile and a "Hello" you mostly get a slightly confused look when you go in.

Small independent deli with amazing food and drinks. Service great. Not many tables so you have to go early or wait your turn but definitely worth it🤗

The food and coffee here is amazing, you will not get better in Clarkston. The staff are great and the interior is modern with a chilled atmosphere. The steak burger is on another planet of greatness.

Just stopped off for a coffee, first time in this Bistro. Fantastic, food was delicious and all of it homemade. The sausage roll with chorizo and pork was excellent. Great value for money. Will definitely be back.

Love this place. Living in Busby, this is such a welcome addition to the area. Coffee is so nice, and the food is outstanding. I don’t know where they found the chef but they must insist he never leaves. My favourite is the mushroom hash, the chunky chips, and the shakshuka. Mmmmm. Oh, and I’m not gluten-free but the gluten free desserts taste phenomenal. It’s a little small (hence why 4 not 5 stars), which means you often struggle to get a seat and you can be waiting a while ☹️ but, I suppose that’s testament to how popular it is. I’ve been coming here regularly for years and I have introduced lots of people to it, and shall continue to do so ☺️

Coffee is always good but annoyed today that service took over 25 minutes to provide drinks and cake. So close to cancelling our order it wasn't even busy. Normally enjoy visits here.

I was swayed to give 3 or 4 stars. Reason being, deli though may I stress service is first class, the decor & lay out quite dull.& dated. Tables very close together & toilet facilities poor & I mean very poor.. Had a lunch before toilet gate & found a very dark shade of a grey mop in a bucket off water (loosely used ) to clear mop floors. It was also noted waste bin over flowing again after having eaten...yes it was poor & 3 stars for food, despite person who served meal, in honesty had forgotten to wash... it was an experience in Deli and would not recommend it at all. As before guys serving behind bar srea were superb. Waiter or Cook I hooe not, tidy yourself up & owner or handy man etc get the place sorted & too many items on blackboard was like reading a long book! Visit at your perol

Came in for soup and a sandwich- the price was pretty high which I don’t mind if it’s worth it…this time it wasn’t- the soup was under seasoned and Luke warm at best! The sandwich for the price I’d expect more filling too. The woman who I believe is the owner ignored me for ages whilst talking to another staff member then I didn’t receive particularly good customer service from her when she served me and rolled her eyes at me when I couldn’t make my mind up on what coffee I wanted. I’ve came here a few times and now this is definitely my last visit as the service doesn’t merit the price.

I needed to take my aging aunt for lunch on a Monday which is not a good day for maximising choice. Eat Deli was open and confirmed they would have a table available. My aunt had a substantial carrot and coriander soup which she said was tasty. My wife and I had the chowder which we enjoyed.

If there was such a thing, then I would like to be on a board for the best Eggs Benedict and Eat Clarkston would get a 5 star rating. I rarely try anything else but their coffee passes muster as well. Fab wee place.

This is one of the few local cafes which really delivers. The layout is a bit odd, as if the tables for customers were the last thought, but the food, deli and coffee are good - not cheap. Certainly my favourite Clarkestone coffee shop.

My husband had above and when it came to the bill, I had to question the price of the slice of carrot cake — £4.50 !! Even London doesn’t charge that!

Eat Deli es nuestro café local y siempre es un placer ir allí. Es cálido y acogedor y realmente hacen todo lo posible para satisfacer cualquier necesidad dietética. La comida tiene esa combinación ganadora de ser simple pero excelente. A menudo vamos para un brunch familiar, o simplemente té y pastel (incluso hacen té redbush), o en los días en que está demasiado ocupado para encontrar un asiento, llevar sopa. Mi hija es vegana y le encanta el tofu revuelto. Este es el mejor café en el área de Clarkston para escuchar a sus clientes y no es de extrañar que los asientos se llenen rápidamente.

Tomamos una mesa y, después de 15 minutos, un miembro del personal no nos había contactado, así que tuvimos que ir al mostrador para pedir los menús. Todos tomamos nuestras decisiones, pero de nuevo nadie vino a tomar un pedido, así que tuvimos que ir al mostrador para hacer el pedido. Eat Deli es un buen establecimiento, aunque esta es mi primera revisión, he estado probando sus delicias durante algunos años. I went in for a coffee and was thinking of buying a brownie as it looked lovely. I noticed all the cakes were covered either by glass or else cling film, but the brownies and scones were uncovered. There were a couple of flies buzzing around and one landed on the brownies on the stand. The lady behind the counter noticed there were flies around the cakes and she tried to swat them away. I’m not sure if she heard me talking about the flies buzzing around however after about another 10 mins or so she then took them away, I thought to discard them, but she covered them with cling film. Someone was then sold one after the fly had been sitting on the brownies, which was sickening. Shame as the coffee I bought was very nice, but the food hygiene standards I would be dubious of.

Great coffee and food and wonderful bread. Friendly and helpful service in pleasant and interesting surroundings. A real gem in the area and will visit again.

I found this small coffee shop by accident and what a lovely surprise. The cappuccino was the best I have tried and had lovely scrambled eggs & toast. I normally pop into the Costa next door but Costa is not a patch on this coffee shop. Will definitely be back. As the salted caramel cake was delicious.

I pop into eat deli at least once or twice a week and it's perfect for me. I'm usually by myself and I don't have a load of time so the speedy service and great quality food is really appreciated. The coffee is a really high standard, the soups are terrific, they change daily and the variety is excellent. The cakes are out off this world and the staff are so welcoming. Excellent job!!

Mi café, un capuchino era muy bueno, y mi marido disfrutó su negro descafeinado, pero el bollo que tenía era verdaderamente horrible, muy duro y seco. De hecho me preguntaba si era un día antes de bollo. Me rendí tratando de comer. Cuando fui a pagar me mencionó el bollo a la cajera, quien sólo se encogió de hombros y realmente no me interesaba - - - - - por lo que yo pagué 8 libras, 50 por 2 cafés y un bollo de comestible. Lovely to visit Eat Deli in the now homogenised Clarkston. We enjoyed delicious soups and salads let down by poor service and high prices - £4.90 for soup and bread.

Having visited a number of times and always enjoyed the breakfast and brunch options I have noticed the service is a little erratic at best.

Regrettably coffee was very average - mine might be a difficult crusade, but I wish Glasgow coffee shops would improve their coffee - just go to Paper Cup or Cottonrake - that’s how to do it!

Wow! Amazing carrot cake and a really decent flat white coffee. No need for lunch now as the carrot cake was huge. If you are in the Clarkston area in Glasgow and it's time for a break, stop in to Eat Deli for a really nice, friendly, local "People make Glasgow" experience. The name is a little deceptive as it's really a sit in cafè with a great menu selection.

Decided to try this place this morning for a late breakfast around 10.30am. Both of us ordered the bacon, egg and Stornaway black pudding on Italian toast as it sounded delicious. A tea and a coffee were the drinks ordered. After about 10 minutes, the drinks appeared but we had to wait a further 10-15 minutes for the food. When it came, it consisted of two pieces of what l could only describe as deep fried bacon. It was that hard, you couldn't cut it. The egg had been fried on too high a heat that the bottom of the egg was burnt. The black pudding was ok on the inside once you hacked through the outer layer. The bread was thick, toasted and bone dry. What I found odd was the fact that your breakfast included a small bowl of mixed salad on the plate. Personally, that's not for me. Salad and fried breakfast food is a peculiar combination. Both breakfasts were exactly the same and at £7.50 each, I would class that as a bit of a rip off. But then again, you are probably paying over the odds to be able to say you ate at a deli in Clarkston! Sorry but low standards for a premium price are not for me. This is one customer who won't be hurrying back!

Popped in for brunch. I had the eggs benedict and my partner had a salad. Both very well received and well presented.Cafe was very busy but service was good and prompt.Very neat space though- hard to ignore the animated conversation of the people on the next table as they were only 2 inches away.

You are never disappointed at Eat Deli. The food is fresh and well prepared. Staff very friendly. Good for breakfast, coffee or lunch. Scones and caramel shortcake really good.

I've been coming to Eat Deli for years, it's a great cafe. I had Huevos Rancheros for breakfast this morning, and am currently wishing I could have it for dinner as well. It packs a punch of flavour and is very filling, too, good value for money. Their coffee is reeeeally good, too. Cakes are yum - the Portuguese custard tart is a favourite. No clue why a huge Costa has popped up next door... best coffee, scran and homebaking in Clarkston is found here in Eat Deli!

Best wee joint in town ! Great tasting soup crusty bread fab glass of wine and coffee is always just right ! Honestly hard to beat simple is best and value for money because it's good ! Thanks for your consistency ! An prompt service !

We have been going to eat since it opened fourteen years ago so this review is long overdue. Eat was serving up perfect coffee long before the current crop of artisan coffee shops in Glasgow- welcome as they are. The owners really care about the quality of their ingredients (expect organic flour in the scones, the fluffiest free range egg omelettes etc) and have created a lovely, cosy atmospheric place which has become more than just a cafe. It's a community hub. One thing they really get right- and I do hope the owners appreciate this- is the quality of the staff on the shop floor who take a real interest in their regulars, looking out for old and young alike. They work hard and are worth their weight in gold. Go there often enough and they will know exactly how you take your coffee- the antithesis of certain corporate chains. And you'll never feel uncomfortable about popping in on your own. It's a niggle with regulars that there is no form of loyalty scheme. It would be nice if there were. It's a small place so if you go and struggle to get a seat, please persevere. I promise it's worth the wait.

This is a well run cafe serving great coffee and scrumptious food. It has an extensive menu and daily specials. The staff are friendly and efficient with a warm welcome. It is not the biggest cafe in the world but that this gives it a great atmosphere. I would recommend this cafe.

Absolutely LOVE the brunch in Eat. I tell everyone about it. All the food and cakes are amazing. Can be difficult to get a table so best to book ahead. The one negative is there is one senior member of staff(foreign) who is has no customer service skills, she's really aggressive in her manner and towards the rest of the staff. No wonder so many people have said the staff don't smile - she's awful to them. It's cringy sitting watching her. We go back again and again, because we love the food, but each time I dread this woman being there.

Called in for a quick lunch and found there to be a good selection. Any sandwich or bread based foods could be accomodated for gluten free me - a bonus. Staff were helpful and we enjoyed our lunch.

Went for lunch on the Bank Holiday with my daughter. Although it wasn't busy it took us ages to get served. We ordered food and drink. Then waited .....and waited. Other customers came in and were served drinks and still we sat. After 15 minutes I stared at the senior member of staff perched with paperwork at the end of the counter and slowly shook my head. Only then were we 'granted' a cup of tea. Really hostile environment, won't be back!

Had a very disappointing experience in Eat Deli on this occasion, although the food and coffee was nice the staff really let the establishment down, they have clearly never heard the phrase 'service with a smile'!. My food was brought to me in total silence, which while not pleasant was not much of a problem in itself. However, the whole experience was very uncomfortable due to the complete lack of awareness staff had for customers, I witnessed an elderly lady waiting patiently to be served at the counter being continually ignored. This went on for quite some time, while staff did everything except ask her if she needed any help, not even acknowledging her presence - having worked in the service industry for many years I simply cannot understand this level of ignorance toward customers. The staff member serving even began taking an order for a customer who had just entered while the lady in question stood holding the packet of biscuits she wanted to pay for and was completely ignored. As a customer I go to local businesses because I want to experience friendly staff who care about their customers, on this occasion Eat really was a let down, maybe some staff training on what constitutes good customer service is in need!

Nice bright place and friendly service. There is limited seating but its usually possible to get a seat.The coffee was decent and the cake was very good. The food on offer looks good too. Well worth a visit.

Probably sums up my approach to what's on offer here.... It's all good. We've used Eat for Tea and Coffee, Cakes and Treat, Soup and Sandwiches and evening meals. The end of month Friday night themed evenings have been a very reasonably priced and good offering , we've thoroughly enjoyed these. I also sampled recently the full breakfast with Stornaway black pudding an all time favourite. Keep it up folks we've been coming for years and expect to continue to do so. Magic

My wife and I eat here fairly often, and this little story illustrates why. My only gripe with Eat Deli is the fact that I we don't enjoy the Suki tea on the menu, however the staff are good enough to make us ordinary breakfast tea from their own supply. On this occasion they had run out of their own tea, but as soon as we ordered tea, one of the girls put on her coat, ran out to the shops, and a few minutes later we were presented with two lovely cups of tea! As I said, service above and beyond keeps us coming back!

We have been to this deli various times as we love their coffee. The food we have tried has also been lovely especially the French toast with bacon and their Stornoway stack. They also do a wonderful carrot cake. Our only negative is that it is fairly pricey for the portion sizes offered.

I absolutely love this place ! A very friendly atmosphere with staff who enjoy each others and their customers company ! The cappuccinos are to die for! The cakes are delicious and I love the little garnish touch of berries and fresh cream with icing sugar! Lovely presentation on all food,cakes and even coffees! All staff work very hard in here and build great relationships with their customers! An absolute pleasure to visit here as often as I do! Keep up the hard work everybody !

My wife and I must have visited here at least 50 times now, and the reason for that is that we are guaranteed a lovely meal, or a great cup of coffee, served by friendly staff. It is one of the few places where I have eaten where I have never left feeling disappointed! The only problem with the Eat Deli is the fact that it is always so busy that occasionally you cannot get a table, but I think that speaks volumes for the quality of the food and the staff. Have eaten here on a few occasions and usually found it good. This week though was a different story. Arrived to find it busy zs usual but got a table. Was told that the extraction fan in kit hen wasn' t working so menu was limited to soup and sandwiches but not all of them were available as some required cooking too. Gave our order but after 15 minutes waiter comes to tell us we cant have even our second choice as thry had run out of mozzarella. So had to choose yet anothrr sandwich which when it came was tasty and the coffee was good. To be fair to the staff they did not charge us for the sandwich and were very apologetic and getting a free lunch was nice. We will go back but not for a few weeks in he hope that normal service has resumed.

I had lunch today in Eat Deli, and have been in many times previously. I've never had a bad visit and always enjoyed my food and the staff are very attentive. There is always a nice friendly atmophere as many of the customers are regulars. The poor staff today were rushed off their feet but were still on the ball with a smile on their face, but I was wishing I could have given them a helping hand. Will be back as usual.

To cut a long story short, we were ignored on arrival, had to wipe our table clean, were served by surly young waitress with a huge attitude who forgot part of the order, the actual food and drinks came at several different stages and took forever and when we made a complaint the waitress argued with us and walked off in the middle of our conversation while the other two inane members of staff laughed. When we said we would not be returning they said "well don't then". Seems to me this restaurant have become complacent with things like basic customer service. At the cost of the food you expect much more.Will certainly not be back.

I have been into this cafe a few times now with my wife, daughter and friend, I like to support local business and I do like the coffees in here but I have found the cost of cake and other "eats" a bit on the eye watering cost side, I was in with my wife recently and we sat down with a tea, coffee and two slices of cake I think the cost was £11! Coffee and cake in other establishment locally for £3.50 each.Service has always been slow but must say cafe is always busy, perhaps an extra member of staff is needed.

We visited this cafe at 3pm just looking for a quite bite to eat and a coffee. Initially the place looked loved (apart from the cakes out uncovered at the counter - yuk!) we ordered two coffees and a hot chocolate to drink. A focaccia with haloumi - there was no haloumi so had mozarella instead. Soup - was told there was no soup left, ordered aranccini rice balls instead. The coffees arrived and we were then told there was no cream for the hot chocolate (nothing a trip to the shop across the road couldn't solve!) anyways so at 3pm there were 3 things they had run out of? Middle of the day surely they shouldn't be running out of anything? The focaccia arrived - slightly toasted but with the mozarella inside cold and not toasted at all? Strange. The aranccini balls were very tasteless and bland and sent back. Staff were nice enough, not their fault but overall not a great experience at all! Extremely overpriced also. Coffee was good. Won't be returning

Must be the best breakfast venue in Glasgow. Great ingredients properly cooked. Nothing like your usual fare Always busy. Book in advance to be sure of a table. You will not be disappointed.

I like that places like Eat exist. It's far better to have an independent local business than yet another Starbucks. But really...a tenner for two coffees and two biscuits to takeaway is shocking. The coffees were supposedly large, but were the same size as a regular from any other coffee shop. The biscuits were "brownie cookies" and looked very nice. Unfortunately they were very dry, almost as if they've been sitting there a while. Don't think I'll be back.

Just thought I should write something about this place. I am keen to support local businesses, however I have been to this place a few times now - I have to say its too difficult to get served. Not one staff member (there are a few) has the courtesy to acknowledge you while you wait at the counter (I was the only one at the counter at the time) - I have waited for around 5 minutes each time. They are too busy gossiping to each other, the one member of staff that seems busy is dealing with the customers who are seated. I end up walking away from this, 3 times in the last fortnight. They obviously do well and have their regular customers - but it's pretty shoddy really - will be avoiding.

Called in for coffee and a pastry. Service was quick and friendly, coffee was very good. Well worth a visit.
