Cross Stobs Inn in East Renfrewshire

The food is lovely, but the staff truly make the Cross Stobs. Kind, attentive and thoughtful. I can't recommend highly enough.

Fabulous place. We hadn't booked and the place was quite busy when we arrived so were pleased to get a table. Our expectations were well managed so we had a drink in our hands while we waited to order. We didn't have to wait too long anyway, and staff are really hospitable and friendly. 3 of the 4 of us had the steak pie, chips and veg which was fabulous, ( an ashet pie in a dish with a pastry crust), steak was tender delicious and generous portions. The chicken schnitzel was great too, tasty with a nice salad. They had a nice choice of wines by the glass, as well as beers and also non alcoholic. Really cosy place, well deserving of the awards they have won. Clean loos and welcoming ambience throughout.

The team at Cross Stobs are alway so friendly, professional, helpful and courteous. I meet my friend there for an early tea and the food is fab, great selection and so fresh. I love it.

We went for a lunch and the battered fish fillet at 14.50 was dripping with grease and had bones all the way through it- spoke to the server after my partners gum was cut and bleeding from a massive bone sticking into her gum and showed the amount of bones picked out it was like dodge the sharp bone whilst eating- they did offer a desert on the house or a drink on the house but we’d just had a pint of coke each and didn’t really fancy a desert after the disappointing main, the garlic bread with the mac and cheese was also rock solid. We counted 12 bones + which isn’t really acceptable and it was 46£ for 2 courses and 2 cokes and a cut mouth with no real rectifying of the situation- if someone doesn’t really eat a main and complains with proof that it has many many bones in it and refuses a desert especially cause of how poorly the mains where or another drink cause they have a full one there, it was only draft coke we had as I’m not long out of major shoulder surgery (this is actually been my first time out in public since my surgery and felt cross stobs would be perfect) then more needs to be done. Shame really! Don’t like to slate local businesses but you shouldn’t be paying that much and coming away with a bleeding mouth and disappointed! We had actually planned to get a different main but the starter selection is poor on their spring deal and they didn’t have any pate at all in stock which was told to us as we ordered so we had to change our meals and just order off the normal menu. Extortionate prices for well below par food! Nice for a sunny day with the beer garden but their food has went completely downhill it seems sadly

Lunch £16.00 for two courses. I chose the Bombay Chicken Soup which was very good; home made, plenty of chicken. Main steak pie an extra £3.00. I had chips as per the menu my wife asked if potatoes were available this was not a problem. Veg was fresh four different types. Steak pie very tasty plenty meat and a lovely gravy. All in all very good quality food and friendly professional service. As has been mentioned in previous posts the downside is the gents toilets. Even taking into account this is a pub that services the community these are in need of a facelift. When I entered it was like a time machine back to the 70s. Saving grace the food and service.

Not impressed one little bit!...that's twice my partner and I have dropped in for an early romantic evening meal....and on both occasions been turned away as the kitchen was closing for the night!....not really good enough I'm afraid 😨.

We were here for New Year's Eve party/meal night at £47.50 a head, no drinks included, food was OK, drinks prices were as expected, however the gents toilet was a disgrace, no toilet paper, toilet seat was on the floor, and someone had pissed all over the place. I pointed this out to a staff member, who said they would sort it out. Later on when I visited the toilet again, there was toilet paper, but everything else was the same, except now there were no hand towels. Regardless of what you pay, you would expect better than this, very disappointed.

All good service was excellent with a smile.

Enjoyed an excellent turkey dinner for £ 17 1/2 with perfectly cooked vegetables Server was super attentive when asked for extra gravy. We'll be back!

Visited the Cross Stobs earlier today with friends for a Christmas lunch. Excellent friendly service and plenty to enjoy from their menu. The food was great - homemade soup for all, two of us had turkey and trimmings, two had veggie/vegan options. We enjoyed a couple of games of pool in the room next to the bar, with some tunes on the jukebox. Great afternoon and we'll be back soon!

Cosy Restuarant very pleasant staff and good Food being a resident of Barrhead I hadn't visited the Cross Stobs Inn for quite some time but now after 2 Lunch visits it will be a regular drop in for a meal the Restuarant is spotless the food is good and good portions and the Staff are 1st class very helpful and cheery I would recommend the Cross Stobs Inn without any reservations to anyone wanting a nice meal in pleasant surroundings..

First lunch at the Cross Stobs and they did us proud. The Potato Skin soup was plentiful and delicious. Thick and cheesy and accompanied by a generous portion of bread. The main was full of flavour - succulent turkey and gravy, great fresh vegetables and tasty trimmings. The staff are attentive and made us and our pampered pooch feel very welcome. We'll be back to the Cross Stobs Inn and we'd recommend you pay it a visit.

Took a couple of friends along for Friday Steak Night. The steaks were cooked to perfection and to our individual tastes. Excellent value, great atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff. Would highly recommend but best to book.

Hi, We went there after a long walk in Glennifer Braes. We were all ready for our lunch. The Inn had been recommended as a place to have fiss. h finger burgers... all those who had it said it lived up to its reputation. The mushroom toastada was lovely and presented well. THe genral decor was themed around the highland cows... which made interesting talking point. I would recommend it as the staff were willing to go that slightly extra mile to accommodate dietry needs & request. Definitely recommend it.

Once again we had a lovely lunch at Cross Stobs today. Susan and the 'girls' were amazing, so patient and attentive. We would not hesitate to recommend Cross Stobs for Snacks/Lunch/Dinner and drinks etc. What makes it so great for us - is it's locality!! Thank you and well done to the team.

Long time since I've been here. Food was lovely, freshly cooked. Dessert was worth not having a starter for. £15 for 2 courses is good value. Will be again and won't wait so long to go back.

This is such an incredible pub. Great starters, main dishes, and puddings! Lovely staff, I would recommend the Steak Pie and Haggis Neeps and Tatties! Would definitely return!

Went out for lunch with my two favourite gals (my Mum & my Mother in law). We had a starter and a main course each. The food was outstanding. I highly recommend the haddock goujons. Out with the family for a birthday celebration, staff were as usual absolutely brilliant and couldn’t have done any more, the table had 8 adults and 4 children, food was delicious, the younger kids loved visiting the Guinea pigs and playing out in the back garden, totally recommend a visit

Friend booked this for 4 people a birthday celebration .on arrival we were told we were not booked in .However we could get a table but we had to leave straight after we ate dinner as the table was booked for other people .As it was a celebration it was unfair to expect us to eat and leave quickly.It appeared it was booked for the day before which we did not book .we had to come by boat and car very disappointed and did not appreciate the barmaid joking about April the first.

Really surprised and disappointed yesterday.we arrived with friends for my birthday celebration and were sadly let down. .my friend had booked but was told no it was put down as booked for the previous day .Then joked about it being April the first we got offered a table but only for a short while as the table was booked for someone else so we would need to rush our meal .Having came from Dunoon to see my childhood friends for a double celebration we felt let down what could have been a perfect day was spoilt because someone obviously booked the wrong day by not listening properly we left feeling embarrassed Infront of other customers . Definitely not a good experience.

Visited the Cross Stobs last night, a place I've never thought to try, drove by it loads of times , but I could certainly recommend it, I had the best liver pate, I've tasted in a long time and the haddock gojouns were absolutely amazing, and Susan and Rachel, the 2 girls that waited on us were truly amazing, well done girls, I'll certainly be back 🌟🌟🌟

Been here a couple of times over the years, really should visit more often. Late lunch/early dinner on Saturday 7/1/23. Warm, friendly welcome, comfortable seats, served immediately. Drinks arrived very quickly, as did the food. And the food was great. My steak pie was delicious and cooked to perfection. Haggis, neeps and tatties croquettes starter and beeff olives main was rated 10/10 by my partner. Doesn't get any better. Well actually, it does...the staff. Our servers were way up there on the service side. Every interaction was accompanied by a smile and a comment. It's like they just knew what the guest reaction was going to be. :) And they are right...this a is a lovely place to be, with fantastic food and delightful service. When asking if all is ok, they already know the answer..."yeah, it really is GREAT". Thank you to all involved, we will visit again very soon.

Went for a family lunch( wide range of gluten free options as well). Food was great but the service from Amy and Molly was amazing, they were brilliant.

The staff at the Cross Stobs Inn are always lovely and welcoming. The pub is dog friendly too which is a bonus. The food choice is your usual pub grub and is delicious.

Last-minute festive lunch for four of us - quiet drink in the main bar then through to the restaurant, where we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. The menu was kept to a sensible number of starters and mains, lots of on offer...

Went here today ,foods always nice but,personally I think its time for a change in the menu,for 1,why do they insist on having two soups that are all ott, why not have an original soup & a fancy one,also the last 2 weeks ,was there last week also ,the macaroni is not the same as it usually is very dry ,I will go back luv using local places just a wee menu uplift would be good ,xxx

All 3 of us had different meals. I had the superb lamb curry, my wife had garlic chicken and chips and my neice had steak pie and chips. All 3 meals were superb. For sweets I had apple pie and custard my wife had ice cream sundae and my neice had chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. Again, all 3 were brilliant. Definitely going to be a regular in there.

Hosted my 60th Birthday Celebrations at Cross Stobs Inn last Saturday night! What a wonderful evening and can't thank everyone enough for making it so special. We booked the party room for pre dinner drinks and then 20 of us had a lovely meal in...

I contacted the pub direct to resolve first but the response was simply not good enough hence onto the review. Can't just take responsibility and say sorry we messed up there, apparently all "very popular restaurants" (their words) leave you sitting for half an hour refusing to take your order because there were bookings who came in AFTER we did. Staff telling us different things. It was not busy and we'd been ready to order for over 25mins before we left, staff were aware of this as we'd asked to order twice already and were told no there's other people Infront of you...which turned out to be the booked tables, so paying customer or not it doesn't matter, you're valued less if you haven't booked despite handing over the cash all the same. Total joke making folk sit and wait when your booked tables aren't even ready to order yet anyway, and repeatedly saying they'll just be 2mins for it to turn into 30mins, who knows how long it would have been because we left at that point over the poor customer service. Very disappointing that after messaging to resolve instead of doing a review, it was not taken seriously and glossed over and sorry for your wait. Take some responsibility and make sure staff all know the script so you're not being told different things.

Very surprised to see dogs allowed in restaurant, I thought they were only allowed in bar area. This will definitely put me off returning ! We were also a bit disappointed with our whole experience today. Food could have been warmer and chips were under...

3 large signs outside stating food served till 9pm every day but it stops at 8pm on a Friday night. Not impressed
