Welcoming family friendly pub, chilled staff. We had to hang out here waiting for RAC. No problem with us sitting over soft drinks for a couple of hours

Had a meal at The Canterbury as was staying at a nearby hotel where the restaurant was closed and was a recommendation from staff there, I'm really glad I went. Plenty of parking and had my mum with me who has arthritis and disability parking right by the front door. I had the hot honey chicken flatbread with a side of rosemary skin-on fries, absolutely delicious. My mum had the fish and chips which she really enjoyed also, the restaurant wasn't too busy so plenty of seating and had a huge garden to sit in also, great atmosphere. It is dog friendly, unfortunately I didn't have a dog but there were others there that did and even have dog treats on the bar, I love these little touches! I will definitely visit again when I'm back in Tewkesbury and recommend to others looking for a nice meal and/or drink in a lovely environment.

Ordered 2 drinks and 2 mains. Sat at a table. Also used the gents. We left before the mains came out. We had already paid. In the time between ordering and leaving I noticed 21 issues with either the service, staff or facilities. I usually note several issues maybe 10. I was quick to leave, won't be going back. Not recommended.

Fairly decent range of alcohol, food was great but missed out on 5 stars due to missing out the onion rings on our mixed grill meals, everything else was perfect 🤤

(Before you read this review I have been contacted by the owner who has made changes, I'm unable to visit at the moment due to wheelchair "connected" problems.) It was my wifes birthday, we had not planned to go out, so an impromptu developed with friends so down the local we went. Steaks were like leather, side salad was just limp lettuce. I couldn't eat mine, wife and friends struggled through theirs. So sad when food lets a nice place down. Service was good. Nice looking place. Nice variety of beers etc. Wheelchair access and facilities were good.

Nice pub, clean with friendly staff. Good pint in clean glass, always nice! Unfortunately didn't get to sample food because was informed at 7.30pm that 'kitchen is closed'

Great for large parties - big indoor and outdoor area. Very limited bar options. The night we came there was live music which was fun, but they were stationed right by the bar so we had to yell our orders. A bunch of us received wrong orders (no fault of the staff) because it was too loud to hear anything / correct

I went to the Canterbury for a funeral wake. There was a buffet hot and cold Only slight niggle was the vegetarian options were not identifiable

Well I know I should have complained about the food but it took for ever to come and it was cold and mine had a strange taste. How hard is it to serve a hot sausage and mash and a chicken and bacon salad ( bacon like brick) won't be back

It is a smart, clean, quite pub serving good food. I have marked the food at 4/5 as the chilli con carne mince was very fine but a really good meal overall with the addition of skin on fries. The staff were pleasant and cheerful. Value for money for the food and atmosphere is about right. I will visit again and probably have the same again although there is a wide variety on the menu.

Hair in food, not just in mains but in everything else and not being over dramatic but come on..

Nice and clean pub, food good and consistent

First time visiting since under new management, very impressed from the moment we walked through the door. Very friendly & helpful staff, ordered food and drinks effortlessly. All food came out together and within good time. Superb service all round, will be visiting again especially wirh ut being out local.

Booked in the Canterbury for a family occasion, (90th birthday) there was 11 of us and the afternoon went very well, everyone enjoyed the food and we were very well looked after. Could not fault anything, Andy was happy for us to take our own cake and made mum feel special when he brought it out. Thank you all. X

Really lovely clean place with some superb staff and customer service. Bank holiday weekend so the place was rammed but we had a lovely time despite food taking longer than usual. Staff handled it with humour and friendliness.

Delicious Sunday lunch at The Canterbury. Good service, provided by Andy & all the staff. Very welcoming pub. Good selection of drinks available. Food portions very generous. Would definitely recommend for great food at affordable prices. Special thanks to Ethan the chef who took time to see if we enjoyed our meals

It was Really nice here. They do great Margharita pizzas for the kids. I would like it more if they rebuilt the climbing frame here though.

Great atmosphere and quick service

Five of us went in on a Saturday afternoon finding the car park almost empty. Wondering if they were closed, we went in. There were two other people there, and we had a choice of where to sit. The person we ordered our food was friendly. Unfortunately, they only had one fish and chip, so one person had to change their choice. The food took around 30 mins to arrive. We enjoyed the food. The lettuce was a little brown and some a little wilted. The mac and cheese was tasty, but a slightly larger portion would have been appreciated. It was not the usual weekend lunchtime atmosphere I expected from a pub lunch. I would recommend this place as I expect if it was just slightly busier, then the atmosphere would be great.

Just been to our 3rd visit here, twice to eat. Freshly made food. Swift service. Meal deals some days. See you again soon. Cheers

We had a family meal at The Canterbury to celebrate my son’s birthday. The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and the pub had a great atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

All round amazing pub! Great food, cosy atmosphere and impeccable service from all the staff. It is a very place to take your friends, family and colleagues for any occasion. The interior (and exterior) has recently been renovated which has certainly added to the customer experience. We will be back!!!

This is a nice pub. Huge beer garden. Well worth a visit.

Bar staff not very interested. Even when not busy. More interested in serving their friends. Manager served me and didn't listen to food order so came out wrong. Food was not as described on menu, nothing mentioned about being short on stock. Not sure what "improvements" were made after re-launch. OK for a drink (when you get served) as its local. To be honest, keep driving much better pubs elsewhere.

Great pub, lovely staff, food was amazing and great value in today's over inflated climate. We visited on a Friday and it was a bit loud with a few people who'd "had enough" already but all round, a great place I'd happily recommend.

First visit since refurbishment and was impressed by the changes particularly the outside space. The food was a slight disappointment but that was only the first I have had since it reopened so perhaps a bit unfair. Staff were polite and efficient. Worth another try I think

Not my choice of a place but the food was good, served quickly, and staff was friendly. Update: Aug 2023 Visited last week. The place has a new management, its been refurbished, and a new lease of life breathed into it. The staff is new, the events are surprising, the food was great. Highly recommended. We had lasagna and gammon, and ejoyed thise. You must try the non alcoholic cocktails. They were great.

Amazing staff, great food. Memorized for return. Arrived at the end of a very busy time, but everyone was still very pleasant and helpful (and only asked how the food was after I'd started eating it). Starter chicken wings were good and a decent amount, not just the usual teaser. Very picky about Sunday roast, but theirs is very good, potatoes roasted equally (unlike the usual extra extra crispy on one side), meat and Yorkshire pudding soft and tasty. Not a big fan of the fashionably crunchy cauliflower cheese, but at least it's still tasty, and properly cheesy.

Attended the Tewkesbury Pride event at the pub, it was clean, tidy and the staff are welcoming. This is a great venue that has been refurbished to a good standard with a landlord that cares about their customers and its obvious from their collaboration with Pride in Gloucestershire, welcomes a diverse crowd.

It is a lovely pub, The first time I went there the staff were great up beat and friendly. Great atmosphere, I can't comment on the food as I haven't tried it from here yet but will definitely be back 😁

Don’t believe any negative reviews on this pub, one of the best in town and the staff are 5** honestly visit here and you will see for yourself. They always put on excellent entertainment and you will not be disappointed!

I had an amazing time. The staff were so welcoming. Especially Ross. He hosted the quiz and made us feel so welcome!

Apologies for the long post but feel its needed! We went to the Canterbury as we have done for many years to enjoy a few beers on a Sat evening. Whilst waiting at the bar for some time, the main phone rang after one of the staff members mobile had been constantly ringing. I listened to the phone call and was shocked to discover it was the owners asking for employees hours. The bar staff stated multiple times that they had a queue hence why they didn't answer their mobile. Without a care for the customers the bar staff member was forced to answer his questions, as the fact they were trying to do their job wasnt a good enough answer. The staff then had to tell the large queue of customers to wait whilst they checked their phone for rota info, etc... 1. Why on earth are they trying to do their admin on one of the busiest days of the week? 2. If the information was so vitally important at that moment in time why didn't they just walk all the way down to their pub floor and find out for their lazy selves. 3. Or...just an idea help out when it's busy! Yes the pub looks better than before but the staff and customers hate how it's being run. Customers clearly second best whilst the owners are using the pub for their own personal needs. So sad to see a great pub and equally great staff being run by such unprofessional and immature management.

Decent place, could do with another person behind the bar. Food finishes at 20:00 which is too early in my opinion. We didn't realise this as menus were still on the tables. We were hungry so had to leave

Utterly dire. Can't serve three customers in decent time. No Guinness. Gormless bar staff doing anything but pull pints. No apparent supervision or management. Greene King still the worst beer since Watneys. No hope. Housing by 2030.

Visited 26/6/23 new management in 2 weeks previous. Ordered 2 sirloin steaks 1 mash 1 chips. Steak, half tomato, chips, 2 or 3 frozen onion rings. £15 thank you very much. Halfway through my wife found some wire in her mash. She heard an off duty cook exclaim “it’s to be expected” Boil in the bag rubbish Both meals returned for a full refund. Environmental health contacted.

After a great morning out (celebrating hubbys bday) thought we all (13) stop by and support a local What a rude welcoming Where have these people all come from !!!!!!! Not really what you expect walking in !!! Sorry for spending money over £60 we didn’t stay went else where to eat won’t be returning !!!!!!

Advertised as Greenking pub outside but inside said it was a tenancy owned greenking pub but don't take greenking vouchers. Food stopped by 5pm on Sunday. Football blaring out on all tvs. Bar person very friendly and polite. Clean looking pub.

We went as a group and found we were the only people eating (Saturday night??) Whilst taking the orders the waitress was coughing all over the back of my head!!! Only when I turned around did she cover her mouth !!Two of us ordered steak, medium rare , one medium to well.First two came well done!! The third blue ?? All were very very chewy .We were asked how our meal was,to which we made our findings to the waitress. We were offered complementary drinks,which were slammed down on the table.No one asked if we wanted puddings,coffee or anything else.We had the very distinct feeling we were not welcome. Terrible food,service and attitude.

Very quiet .clean and comfortable

We came up from Portsmouth to work for the week and there was a lady serving us and she was very polite and very nice made us feel welcome I don’t know what her name is but she is blonde and very welcoming to our dog and she is a very nice lady I recommend the pub 👍

Nice pub with outdoor seating and playground for little children

Didn't look much when we first drive past, but was pleasantly surprised when we went inside..a lot bigger than it looked. Only down side was that they weren't serving food in the evening, and the tables were sticky even after wiping them down. Staff pleasant and polite, next time we are Tewkesbury we will definitely go again

Worse pub I've ever been too. Asked for medium steak it was still mooing on my plate with half a tub of grease on there. The chicken Tikka Masala was equally bad. The chicken was rubber the curry had film over it. You could tell it was definitely a microwave curry... the bitter shandy was off and had something floating in there.. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL

It's hard to rate at the moment due to covid restrictions, however when I went some of the tables were broken, and unclean, but I'm sure as restrictions are lifted, I will go again, and might change my rating.

Well with restrictions still about ...service was abysmal..put order into the pub via watsapp thats the way pub wanted to work ...finally had drinks delivered after 50 minutes not good not impressed😡
