Friendly, great value cafe. Excellent espresso coffee. Most places sugar is needed to hide the bitter taste but not here just enjoy the coffee.

We have stopped here for coffee and something to eat on our last two visits to St Andrews. The staff are lovely - very friendly, polite, and helpful. Service is fast. Food is fresh and tasty. Coffee great. I like the jaffa cake which comes with coffee. We like the outside tables, especially the one in front of the window, under the awning so that if there is a sudden rain shower then you are sheltered. Very good value for money compared to a lot of other places in St Andrews.

I returned to the Canny Soul on Tuesday 30th May. I sat inside as all the tables outside were full of diners enjoying the beautiful sunshine. I ordered a Gluten free Ham and Cheese toastie. I was incredibly tasty. It was a brioche bun with ham covered in a thick layer of cheddar cheese served with a little salad. The lady(Kirsty) serving, taking orders and bringing out the food and drinks had a lovely smile, made everyone welcome and worked her socks off without getting stressed. In the kitchen was the chef ( Phil) who never stopped for breath. On the wall of t plays in the Dunhill Gi. He saw

We had a breakfast here. Such an amazing place, with plenty choice of delicious food. We had a muffin with cheese and egg, but also very tasty burger. I know it is not really a standard breakfast choice, but I couldn't resist. On top of that, staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive. We will be back for sure!

This place has great reviews and so maybe we went on an off day, lovely staff but the coffee tasted like dish water, we got takeaway and after. a few sips we unfortunately had to throw it out as it tasted so bad. Not sure what it was but it was terrible and we wouldn't go again! It did come with a Jaffa cake each though which was a nice touch.

This is a Mod themed cafe, which offers hot and cold snacks, cakes and pastries. I was sat inside, right in front of the window which had interesting artefacts from height of the Mod era. There is outside seating too, although on the day I visited every table had been taken. Johnny who was in charge, offered a great welcome to everyone. Hot buns were on offer filled with sausages or bacon as well as an array of cakes. Scones, cheese and sweet were also on offer. The sausage bun I had was well filled and the cheese scone very moist and fresh. Good coffees and teas on offer too.

It took 3 attempts to pay buy card for a coke and I was also not allowed to buy a packet of crisps with my card which is extremely unsatisfactory. I also ordered a 99 flake ice cream which first of all was presented very poorly and was also held by the server with no gloves and her bare hand which I consider to be very unsanitary. I then tried the ice cream which was rather sour and tasted off. I was unable to finish it as it tasted disgusting and the cone was soggy. Not only this but the flake also tasted like it was out of date. A waste of two pounds and my time. I was very disappointed. Once we tried to asked the waitress if the ice cream was ok she answered back in an impolite manner and said that it was normal and just made differently to other ice cream. I now feel ill because of this and would advise you to stay clear of this cafe. The conditions of the actual interior also do not seem very clean or looked after. The staff seem very confused and like they do not know what they are doing.

If you are looking for somewhere to have a coffee or tea with a toastie and cake then you should give this cafe a try. There are many places to snack in St Andrews but this must be one of the friendliest with excellent food and very reasonable prices. There are tables both inside and outside and the menu is very good if you are looking for a snack or just coffee and cake. There are hot filled rolls, cold filled rolls, toasties and cakes and scones.

We had take away for four people and the food was delicious. It was all fresh and the buns were to die for. The prices are very reasonable too. We were there right at lunch time and it was quite busy and a little difficult to go in and out. It has a small eating area inside and out. Wished I had tried one of the sweets. It is one one of the main streets with lots of parking.

Visited this great eatery with friends. We were looking for lunch and not a huge meal. This cafe has a huge variety of good honest food e.g. filled rolls, toasties etc. We didn’t have room for any of the home baking but it looked really lovely too. The staff were so nice and the service was excellent as everything appeared to be freshly made to order. It is a very small cafe so we were very lucky that we found seats. Really quirky toilet out at the back! Don’t miss this wee gem which won’t empty your wallet.

We fancied a breakfast roll mid morning in St Andrews. So glad we came across this great cafe, a rare find since it's mostly chain cafes now. Our hot rolls were excellent. Traditional good food, friendly service at such a reasonable price. It's where we'll be heading on our next visit. Long live our traditional cafes... sadly a dying breed...go here and support!!

Having wandered round Culross, we were hungry, so popped in here. We had quite a wait, but it was well worth it! The two (handmade) soups were delicious – wish the bowl had been a bit bigger, though. The sandwiches were really tasty, on lovely thick brown bread.

This is the best coffee shop in St Andrews - but only in terms of the coffee and the food. I love the drinks and the bagels especially are *french kiss* but I would love to be able to come and sit, and enjoy my bagel at a table. The issue is that the already limited seating is taken up by students who have pretty much always finished their drinks. I really think it would be a good idea to have maybe half of the seats reserved for people who just want to come and sit for 10 minutes to have a drink because the shop itself is so nice and clearly very well finished. As a student myself I know there are plenty of study spaces in town so a study free area surely wouldn't meet much resistance? I for one would visit the cafe much more often, instead of just for takeaways. That said, the staff are amazing and the coffee is superb.
