You know when a place is finished, you can feel it.

It's a very good quality fish and chip shop. That is its sole purpose, if you want pies etc,go elsewhere. You want decent fish and chips ,this is it.

We were passing by and decided to stop for drink and dinner. We went to the bar and were greeted by friendly staff members. We found a table and chose our meal, which arrived in good time, the pub was busy and friendly. Looking around the venue was clean and tidy. We left happy and will coming back.

Rubbish soggy chips over priced. Ignorant man serves there would never use again rip off.

Please do not give this man your money he is disrespectful and extremely rude. I ordered cod chips it was delivered after 1 hour cold. the owner charges £4 for each delivery pure greed. he would not replace or refund. he wanted me to walk the fish back to the shop to show him it was cold. bearing in mind it was 2 degrees.what an idiot. chip inn westmead rd is lovely and very reasonable. Along with the chipshop nxt to the crown which was lovely.and you get a smile and a Thankyou.

Just try it out. My family only ask for fish and chips from here. The staff are quick, clean and always cooking fresh, quality fish and chips. Tried a few other places when The California was closed, but nothing came close.

The best for miles around. Shame they stopped doing lunch orders, as we used go there every Friday, after tennis. Pure delight, everything is cooked to perfection. You don't go away dissatisfied that's for sure.

Fish cooked perfectly, good sizes too. Large portion of chips ,is large! And 2 sachets of tartare sauce thrown in for free.

We used to get our fish and chips from here but we have now had to change as they have stopped accepting card payments. As the world moves towards a cashless society this place is going in the wrong direction. We don't always have the cash available so going here is too inconvenient.

The food is wonderful. Lovely fresh fish, crispy batter, chips to perfection and the curry sauce was really tastey too. As the fish is freshly cooked a little waiting time, but it was worth it in the eating.

The two females who work there serving have absolutely no idea what day it is. They bag up, put it down when someone else comes in and serves them leaving the half bagged up chips going cold. Customer said is that mine, female said oh sorry and this continues. I watched them while waiting 35 minutes for my food because they forgot about mine. Two females keep looking and checking the tickets, someone else comes in to be served, they're distracted by server and re=check what they are meant to be doing. An ABsolute shambles. BTW, my food was cold. They have no clue what they are doing whatsoever. I've been in many chippys in my life, this is the worst I have ever had to encounter.

Not as good as used to be fish good chips have changed taste like oven chips dry.Not very friendly staff think will go elsewhere in future such a shame as try to support business locally .

Used to love this fish and chip shop but for some reason the service has gone right downhill recently. I was the first to order when the shop opened and yet waited over half an hour for my food (nothing complicated - 2 fish and chip suppers) whilst they concentrated on people who made larger orders after me. One lady took telephone order after telephone order whilst they couldn’t get my existing order out and the other lady stood chatting on her mobile. Not to mention the fact the portions are considerably smaller than they used to be. On our last visit my other half waited a longtime in the pouring rain too for our order so it’s clearly not a one off issue. Food was nice enough but certainly not worth the time spent waiting. Sadly I won’t be shopping local for our fish and chips in future and will order from another chippie.

Without a doubt the best fish and chip shop in the whole area. Not sure about the chip comment below (they must eat huge individual portions of chips in their house 🤣) as everytime I go in the portions are very generous (a small chips feeds two people) Staff are really friendly, great family run business! Prices are really reasonable too.

Have been here many times . On a recent trip the food was rubbish wont be going back. It served lovely food i guess the chef has change . no two chefs cook the same the chef they have or had on the day we went should be sacke

I'm not going to lie I was left absolutely shocked! So lived in Sutton for last 5 years and been to majority of chip shops that all have tasty chips and reasonable prices with reasonable portions. So tried this one in Belmont. I asked for a large chips which is £3.50! Yes wow! So on the menu there are 3 options. Small Regular and Large. Considering chip shops usually only do regular or large and large usually around £2.50 - £3 I was expecting a bulging bag of chips. Oh no I was left gobsmacked! The bag was in my eyes a regular so wouldn't want to see what a small looks like. To be fair they are good chips but portion size for the price is a no go. I wont be going there again. To feed a family of 4 with their large chips you'd have to buy 2 at £7!!!!!!!

They're still open and still serving great food. This place deserves to be busy and needs our custom. A great local chippy.

Chips unfortunately were not fresh. Cod was great but overall experience was poor.

I moved to Belmont last year january and I've been here twice, the first time I weren't sure if i was in a chip shop or a hardware store because of the amount of clutter in the customer area. When I finally recieved my beef burger it had been heated to long and left the bun very hard(Who burns food in the microwave). The second time a year later the same stuff. Dirty shop, poor customer service and cold food. Probably the worst fish and chip shop have ever been to.

Cod and chips tonight and it was excellent. Hot ,freshly cooked and tasty light batter. Large chips is enough for 3 adults.

After having a bit of a problem with our Christmas Day booking it was eventually sorted. We arrived on the day and experienced a good meal. The service was excellent and the people were very friendly. The only down side I would say is that their gluten free option is not really an option it is a meal with the gluten free food taken off your plate rather than replaced with a gluten free alternative. I did however, take my own pigs in blankets, stuffing and Yorkshire puddings so that the 3 people in the group that were gluten free did not feel left out and I also took my own gluten free crackers for the cheese and biscuits. The food that was offered was very tasty and the surroundings were very appropriate for the occasion.

Been twice in recent weeks and on both occasions was made to feel as if the food I ordered was somehow an imposition that the man behind the counter would've preferred to have done without... Was gruffly told 'four minutes' for a battered sausage and small chips - left the shop almost quarter of an hour later with soggy sausage and barely warm chips. Previous time the scampi was immediately ready but cool and very dry. Lesson learnt - there are other fish and chip shops in the area to try.

Food is okSometimes better than notBut a bit hit and miss. Otherwise very average.The good thing is that the food is cooked to order, the bad thing is the wait! Shop opens at 5.30 , the fryers are not ready at that time, they go on as the shop opens , so the wait can be very long at first opening.Portions of chips are small. Menu options are good , but most just want a decent bit of fish, crisp chips and value for money- mmmmmm not great , but not sure either.Premises clean so you can eat in if desired.

An absolute gem of a fish 'n' chip shop run by a lovely family who take real pride in the quality of their ingredients. Sit down and take your time because it's all made fresh to order. You'll be rewarded with fluffy chips and crispy, white fish. Honestly, it's fantastic. Go and treat yourself!

Popped in after picking up kids from school on a Friday. We went a couple more times during the week. The chips were excellent day-in day-out. The portions are generous also. If you like fish batter (if you eat tail first then you know what I am talking about), I recommend fish bites because they give you crunchy fish every bite.

I've tried a few chippys in the area but this one is the best! Freshly cooked fish that hasn't sat under a lamp for an hour. :)

I was amazed not to find this place on Trip Adviser. I've bought fish and chips here for years. In my opinion they sell the best fish and chips in Sutton. The fish is exceptionally fresh and is cooked to order. Their batter is light and crispy and keeps the fish beautifully flaky. (It is not cooked in advance and held on a warming plate until it becomes dry and greasy, as a lot of chippies do - yuk!)The chips too, are cooked to order and are chunky and fluffy inside. There is a good menu, so apart from a wide variety of fish you can also order chicken nuggets and beefburgers, onion rings and calamari, pies and sausages. It sells most cold drinks, straight from a fridge , plus sachets of e.g. ketchup. The fish and chips are packaged to go, in cardboard boxes with a sachet of tartare sauce and a wedge of fresh lemon, the boxes help to keep the fish intact and the batter stays crispy. The chips are sold in really lovely thick bags which keep them hot and fresh until you get home. Beware -

We found this fish and chip shop a few years ago and it is the best we have ever had! The chips are cooked to perfection and the fish always well cooked and crispy. You know when you find something that's so good (that you shouldn't have too much) but this often a treat for us at the end of a busy day. Fabulous Nicki

Extremely poor & rude service by the Owner!! We pre ordered Sat 11/2/2017 - 60 minutes in advance as this is a popular place. My wife went to collect, arrived and told them what she ordered and paid (Its the same same order we always have. When she got home they had given her the wrong order, a far bit more then our usual. Not wanting to keep it and knowing someone else would need it, she returned to the shop but the rude owner said it was her fault, she had collected the wrong order!!! How could she when it was he who handed her food after he had confirmed her order and paid! On top of this idiot then said she never ordered in the first place!! But what he charged her was exactly correct to the penny for our order!!. How could this be if we had not ordered??? To add insult to injury they had then ran out of what we wanted and my wife had to wait a further 50 minutes!! Owner if you are reading this you are either a fool or a liar, I say your both. We will be taking our business else where, thats £1000 per year you have lost.

Really good food and at a fair price for good quality

These used to be the best fish and chips in the area and was always our first choice when having fish and chips. So we were really looking forward to tucking into some just now. However much to our disappointment tonight's offering was far from good. The chips were awful - had obviously been given those that had been sitting for a while and not freshly made. The fish was equally dry in texture and the batter was not particularly tasty. Well, it filled a hole as we were hungry but I don't think we will be going back there again. Such a shame because it was really good before!

First class grub,not overpriced at all,yes you have to wait for it to be cooked, but haddock and chips,AMAZING. returning very soon.

Over priced for what it is. I waited 20 minutes for my food so thought that they was cooking fresh however they wasn't as the chips were burnt and the sausage was so tough were it had been re heated so much. I paid £2.90 for a large chips however when I got them it was smaller than a small portion from any other chip shop. I won't use again I only used as I didnt feel like a drive to the fish and chip shop at the top of Sutton. so I thought I would try the local one out however I won't be using again
