Had a terrible meal today. My husbands chips were hard , the fish tasteless. My steamed fish was so bland and tasteless, the new potatoes were brown inside and the frozen veg soggy. Very expensive. Unfortunately will not go back.

Best fish and chip shop around, the grilled fish is amazing. Really lovely, friendly people too.

I recently had grilled fish and chips. I must say delicious fish I ever had, it’s worthy to visit with family. We had a good time. Very positive and calm atmosphere. We are seniors in our mid 70’s and have dined at top end restaurants (Le Gavroche, Langans, Wolseley etc). We had been for a lovely afternoon out yesterday and my wife suggested that we go to Finnegans for fish and chips. I thought the prices were high, but things are different now and we just have to get used to it, and I have to say that the cod and chips was wonderful, and that I really enjoyed the experience.

After attending a 6 week course on British culture, we decided to take our Ukrainians attendees for lunch. We had precooked the restaurant. Every effort was made to make this lunch a success and it was. Our visitors loved the food, even treated us to Ukraine folk songs. The food was delicious and the staff worked so hard to make the lunch a fun time.

A very big thank you for hosting a delicious lunch for a group of Ukrainians organised by the Sutton Volunteer Bureau. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. The staff worked so hard to ensure everyone had a good time. I thoroughly recommend this eatery very highly.

Went to get a portion of chips to takeaway for me and my son to share. OMG the cost was 4.99 for an average portion. Now I appreciate cost of living impacts all and especially business, however 4.99 is not justified. The rip off prices just send inflation up. Shop is only for the super rich. Nothing special about the food. Not bad and not Great!

This was the first time I have been disappointed at Finnegans. The plaice was almost liguid in the middle.... not cold, but almost liquid. I have no idea what caused this, as the fish was white, as it should be. The chops were reheated or had been too long in the rabge, as they were not fresh fried. To be fair, the restaurant was very busy, but fish and chips here is not cheap, and I expected better.

Not very impressive considering the very high price. The cod was okay but the chips were small and bitty. Definitely wouldn't recommend because of the rip off prices.

Food was good but the service was rude and pushy the 4 of us had just finished our food but ordered more drinks then the bill was given to us and then we had not finished our drinks and was asked to pay then before we left they started to clear and wipe the table down not happy with this kind of pushy service and there were empty tables with no one waiting to eat

In August I came down for a holiday in Sutton to be close to two excellent friends who I met in Corfu in August 2019. Towards the end of my holiday I thought I would try Finnegan’s Fish and grill . My order was for haddock and chips and when I had them brought to the table I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the batter on the fish. The batter was a thin one evenly coating the fish with a nice smooth appearance and when the batter was broken into the haddock was a clean and amazingly white colour and so beautifully fresh to eat. All the condiments and sauces were available . The service was extremely pleasant and the meal itself was top class. I rate the place and the people highly. Add the quality of the food and I give it 5 stars Yes I did come back the day before I returned home and tried a large cod, chips,mushy peas, bread and butter and tea. The end result was a complete success. First class! My friends are coming on my recommendation.

At £11.30 for a regular cod and chips you would expect something nice for the price but they were awful! Soggy batter, chewy tasteless chips, possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had from a fish and chip shop and they have the cheek to charge ridiculous prices!!

For the price, Finnigans is great. I have ordered the saveloy and chips several times and it is always of a good quality - but it is not ‘excellent’. My partner ordered the cod and said it was a nice meal. Definitely worth using Finnigans if you ever want a fairly priced meal.

Been ordering from Finnigans for quite some time, but tonight’s chips were deeply disappointing, looking and tasting more like oven chips than the actual chip shop variety. They were flat and almost all of uniform size, as if produced in an industrial machine rather than traditionally cut - dare I say, bought in from elsewhere. The portion was much smaller than usual and came in a cardboard tray, rather than the usual paper wrapping. Is the shop under new management? I think I’ll be trying another chippy with more traditional methods next time.

Don’t bother, if you like watery fish and tasteless chips this is the place to go, still got a horrible taste in my mouth 3 hours later. Should have stuck to super fish in cheam all ways good there

Decided to have fish and chips last Saturday, we ordered 2 large portions, 1 was Haddock and the other 1 was Cod, both with chips, the boxes were clearly labeled, nicely presented and the food was freshly prepared. The lady who served was friendly and the food was prepared swiftly. Good food and great service and was reasonably priced too, will definitely be using them going forward.

We always order fish and chips from Finnigan's, despite it not being our closest fish and chip shop/restaurant. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious and the portions generous, with a good choice of fish. The packaging used is also eco friendly, which makes a nice change.

Went here tonight 18/8/20 for a spontaneous dinner with my fiance and it was beautiful! Staff were all friendly! Food was bloody lovely! Will definitely be coming back! Regular sized cod and chips was a big portion so the large must be huge! Definitely good value for your money!

The large fish is extremely large.

We sat in and had dinner, l had a seafood basket, prawn, squid, cod bites etc with chips and my son had cod & chips. It was served up beautifully with crusty bread and a salad on the side. It was all gorgeous and the chips were what l called the old fashion chips yummy. It was reasonably priced l thought; would have been £27 with drinks but paid half price due the eat out to help out government scheme. Highly recommended, try it.

Update: I don't know about delivery service but we had a lovely experience eating in and the food was beautiful and lots of it. Before you leave a bad review maybe speak to the restaurant first. Give them a chance to rectify a problem

We had a delivery last week and although pricey we really enjoyed it. Ordered another delivery this evening and was disappointed. The burger buns were a bit dry and the cod didn’t taste like cod. We think it could of been coley. Sorry finnigans but doubt we’ll order again.

We came here last night before the cinema, it was lovely and the fish is so fresh, we both had cod and chips and the presentation is fantastic, its nice to walk into a place and be greeted with a smile, makes a world of difference. Lovely food, very clean and we are coming back here on Sunday cant wait to try the grilled cod next

Food ok but overpriced for Average

Ordered here because my Mum wanted fish & chips. My husband and I wanted fish without batter so we ordered a tuna and a salmon. The menu says 'tuna' and 'salmon' and nowhere does it say these came with chips so I ordered a portion of chips extera which turned out a waste as they actually did have a tiny portion chips with them. In any event, the food was dreadful. The tuna and salmon was so dry and overcooked and was like rubber and such a tiny portion for £12! Will NEVER order from here again.

In my experience it Is rare to find a fish & chip restaurant where both fish & chips are well cooked , either the fish is good & the chips are limp & soft or vice versa. Here the fish is well battered & the chips crunchy & your meal comes with a good salad & bread & butter.You can also have your fish cooked in a variety of ways. Takeaway is also available. All meals are cooked at the time of ordering.

Finnegans was always a good fish and chip restaurant but since they refurbished it I can honestly say that it is excellent. You can order the fish either fried, steamed or grilled, the service is very good, everything arrives hot and you can also order wine and beer as well as tea and coffee. It is a little bit more expensive than your average chippy but well worth it.
