Superfish in Sutton

This used to be our go-to fish and chip purely because everywhere else wasn’t as good but every single time we got takeaway they would mess up our order, forget to give us a part of it etc. on the third time I called them and they obviously said come back and we will give you what was missing. This wasn’t worth our time as we live a good 10 minute drive away and the rest of the food would’ve been cold. We swore the last time would be the last and we started using the California in Belmont (excellent btw). This was about a year ago. Well we happened to be passing there this evening and thought we’d give it another go. Returned home to find they’d mucked our order up yet again and not only that, the cods were tiny, smallest we’ve seen and all the food was so greasy. We sort of forgave the chaotic orders because the food was nice but tonight just reminded us why we don’t bother going there anymore. I could understand if they were busy but tonight they weren’t, they are clearly just incompetent. Will not be returning.

Excellent value. Prawns and bread and butter all included with cod and chips and cup of tea. Lovely staff. All together good experience.

Having spent over 36 pounds on three large cod and two large chips it was very disappointing. Chips were cold and hard not the standard of a ‘superfish ‘ when called to complain manager was very rude and arrogant

Had haddock and chips, both were excellent. Mushy peas weren’t so good but don’t detract enough to warrant a 4 star review.

This is the best Fish & Chip shop in the area. They fry in beef dripping and the food is delicious and cooked to perfection.

Lovely cod and chips, which comes with crusty bread, 4 shell on prawns, pickles and all the usual condiments plus a pot of tea for less than £15. Friendly service. Only about 8 tables so often full.

One of the best fish meals we’ve ever had. Beautifully fried fish (we had haddock and cod) and the chips too both non greasy. They give you as extras small prawns, pickled cucumbers and onions and hot French bread and butter all FOC. The Lady who served our table was so nice, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go back and wholeheartedly recommend.

Fantastic chips that's all we had as a snack for my granddaughter at lunch time. Friendly and polite staff

This is my local fish and chip shop. I’ve never ate in the restaurant, but I get a takeaway quite regularly from here. Tasty fish and chips but I’ve had bigger portions for the price they charge elsewhere. Otherwise tasty and I would recommend.

Lovely fish and chips it's not a posh restaurant but it's the best fish and chips and that's what's important. After a beer in the pub around the corner pop in hear for your dinner you won't be disappointed. Great pickles as well.

The lady that cooked a small cod at around 18.30pm this evening on 11/5/23 deserves a pay rise! Finally, a truly delicious piece of fish, tender, tasty and exactly the right amount of batter. The quality that earned Cheam Superfish awards 50 years ago, but which has been sadly missing for a very long time, even if still better than other fish and chip shops. Indeed, I won't even buy chips any more from Cheam Superfish as last time, on a Tuesday, the girl behind the counter spent the 10 minutes I was waiting for my order to cook, finger dipping into the batter, cherry picking all the best chips for herself. It was truly disgusting to watch and I was served up and took home all the potato ends, which made up a meal of literally just fish and grease rather than fish and chips. There was so much grease I was actually ill the next day. So once again, well done the lady this evening and thank you for a truly excellent piece of fish, cooked to perfection!

Great restaurant, always good fish n chips here

This was my go to spot for lunch when I first started working over 30 years ago. The taste is consistent with that time. Great fish n chips.

Cheam village Superfish I always sit in their small restaurants. Great traditional fish and chips. Tasty batter on the cooked to perfection and lovely thick chips cooked in fresh oil.

Great dining experience if you eat in , love the sides that come with the food too .

I had takeaway cod and chips tonight. A great big,flaky piece of cod, great chips and all freshly cooked. Ten out of ten for the food and the charming staff serving.

This place makes consistently excellent fish and chips. The scampi is the best I've found anywhere around here with good sized scampi pieces in a thin and crispy batter.

Undoubtedly the best fish & chips in the area. Several types of fish available including 3 sizes of cod. The fish is tender & fresh & they make their own chlps ! They offer take-away & seating although the restaurant area is limited

If I could give this restaurant 0/5 stars, I would. I got served FROZEN salmon. The manager smells of cigarettes and reeks of alcohol. I heard him shouting in the restaurant and the way he talks to his staff is disrespectful. There is also a 20 year old assistant manager who does not have enough experience and qualifications to be able to run the restaurant, when I suspect the manager is out drinking on the job. Go to this restaurant if you want food poising.

Kindly, as I wasn't feeling well, my husband ordered a deliver from Superfish Cheam to be delivered to me. He is on duty and thus did this on his break. He realised he made a mistake for collection rather than delivery. It's a half hour walk from my house so being a bit under the weather, to collect wouldn't really work and would be cold when I get there. So, he asked if I could call and change it to a delivery. I said I'd ask but they don't have their own delivery drivers. First time I called, I spoke to a guy who wasn't listening to me properly or had problems understanding me. He kept saying "we don't do Deliveroo". I said not Deliveroo, DELIVERY. He told me we had to cancel it with Justeat and then re-order. However, this was not possible as it wasn't from my account. So, I called again and spoke to a different guy. I asked what time I would need to come and collect it because being a half hour walk, I needed to time it correctly. He said it will be collected from here and delivered to us. I said "are you sure?" He said yes. I told him be An hour later, I call again, a lady answers and hands me over to the manager (this was the first guy I spoke to). He told me no one collected it. I tried to explain this is why I didn't come to collect it, because I was told not to as it would be delivered. He SCREAMED and I mean, SCREAMED at me, said he's got lots of things to do, if I wasn't bothering to come, he's got other things to do. I had to shout to try to be heard that I am not saying I WON'T bother, I said I DIDN'T for this reason, he just SCREAMED at me and hung up on me. I called back. I told him he put the phone down on me. He said "of course, I don't have to listen to you, I have better things to do than deal with you". I said I would never order from his shop again and that his customer service skills were terrible. He continued to scream and said "I don't care, GOOD, I don't want you to order from me again". I told him I have ordered so many times for Cheam House (a community living house) and that because of me, they've ordered for the whole house every week. He said "well good riddance, I don't want to have customers ordering that are too simple to place an order (FYI this is a house for men with additional needs) I said I would let everyone know of this disgusting service and behaviour on Google, Nextdoor, Facebook. He continued to scream "I don't care who you tell, tell the whole world, you mean nothing to me" and hung up on me again. I feel like if it were my husband there in person, there's no way he would speak to a large, strong looking bloke like this but because I'm on the phone and a female, he feels he can. This man is a bully, prejudice, has no listening or customer service skills and in my mind, abusive.

Worked here and got told to never come back, impolite and impatient manager who doesn’t listen and fires people for having COVID and is just rude and hangs up on the phone when we are in pain. Overall the food is good ( sometimes ).

Always willing to give what was requested. Good company. Most prices within a careful budget.

Great little fish and chip shop in Cheam town. About 8 tables serving great fish. Really nice people. We each ordered a different dish: scampi, plaice and calamari. All were wonderful. Will definitely visit again.

Food cooked to order, delicious and generously portioned. We think they're the best in the Sutton/Cheam/Belmont area having tried the competition.

Wonderful fish (especially the haddock) and chips, the best in the local area for sure. Cooked the right way using beef dripping (sorry vegans!) instead of toxic and inflammation-causing vegetable/seed oils, therefore the food is filling without being greasy. Great chips, nice and crispy. Very friendly and hospitable owner too.

The Best Cod and Chips 🐟 Down South "Cooked the Traditional Yorkshire Way". From my Grandad who is an adopted Yorkshire'man for 28 Years with Whitby, North Yorkshire on his doorstep nearby "Very Good for Down South". With Prawns and French Bread and Butter as an Appetizer when eating at the Restaurant part, what's not to like! 😋. I'll be back time and time again and for Takeaway too.

It was abundantly clear that the oil was filthy as the batter on the fish was dark instead of golden brown. The batter didn’t survive the 4 minute journey home as it soon became soggy and limp. Judging by previous reviews, they obviously don’t change the oil as often as they should. Funny thing is, if you use clean oil the fish actually cooks quicker and the batter stays crisp! It’s not like cooking oil is expensive even if you are going through a couple of hundred litres a week! Really poor. I’ll stick to Marina Fish Bar in Stonecot Hill

Would be 4 stars but superfish are slowly pricing themselves out of the market, also cod getting smaller and smaller. Good portion of chips though.

Didn't get all the food we ordered, and standard of food wasn't great. Will be driving further afield to get decent fish and chips. Shame :(

The notion of booking your collection online is fine if served chronologically. However, this last Friday went awry and it was just gone 7.00 when I picked up my order for what was booked at 6.30!

Utter shambles with useless teenage staff! What’s the point of having a COVID safe online ordering system with which you pay in advance and select a pickup time if you then insist that customers must queue again and enter the shop to tell them that they’ve arrived. Many people outside here are moaning that they’ve waited ages beyond the agreed pickup time.

Dont be fooled by the picture of cod and chips on the webpage, this is not what you get from here, i travelled here today from miles away especially because of the tempting pictures, and i got dark over cooked chips that were not real, looked like they were frozen out of a bag from tescos, and the worst part was the thin, flat dark over cooked cod, that was also frozen and not thick and fresh like in the pictures, really poor attempt at what should have been as described on there own webpage, friendly man serving but boy does he need a role model.

Not a huge fan of battered fish and chips, but this is the only plaice I go for it.

I pre ordered but it seemed like the delivery took precedence over everything told me to collect at a certain time but still had to wait half an hour over the said time.

Rude staff bad food stay away you have been warned don’t risk it

Only small in size but large in variety of fish available. Limited seating (because of its' size) -- but a take-away service is also available. Has apparently been established since 1971 (according to its' printed menu) but this was my first visit. The service was professional and prompt, the quality of the fish was first class and the visit was delightful. Great value for the money!

I’m glad I didn’t read the disappointing reviews before I chose to visit this establishment as they might have put me off going. I went there on a Friday evening with family for my birthday meal. We were given a plate of prawns and a basket of bread which was a nice touch, before our order was taken. It’s true that you don’t get many chips but the fish was a good size and I don’t think you need too many chips, I normally leave the shop feeling bloated. Also it meant I had more room for pudding! We all really enjoyed the food.

I ordered cod & chips, the chips were tasteless & greasy & was smaller than a child’s portion. The fish was very dark, almost black where the oil needs changing. Each time I bit into it grease just ran down my chin. I threw it away in the end. This shop used to be the best chip shop for miles around now it’s just a disaster. Just read all the disappointed reviews. Never again.

Had takeaway haddock and chips with my daughter last night. These were the worst fish and chips I have had. The batter was dreadful and the fish was thin and tasteless and looked grey. Chips with lots of tiny scraps . The fish fryer was rude to his staff and bad tempered and the girl who served me was slow. I’ve been coming here for 3 years since my Nan moved here but never again .

I went to this local chippy on the 18th December 2018, I can't express enough how deeply disappointed I was! The chips were limp, soggy and cooked in old burnt oil which gave them an unpleasant taste, long story short I threw them in the bin!

What has happened....tiny portions.....not good food....this place has gone downhill

Great little fish and chip shop. Very cosy and staff make you so welcome. The restaurant area is small so be prepared to wait at peak times but the wait is worth while. We visit most Fridays after the Cheam Market.

Just moved to cheam, thought I'd try this out, never again. Staff seem totally disorganised, food terrible( small cod is litterally a fish finger) and to cap if off an absolute rip off. 2 large cod and chips, 1 small cod and chips & battered sausage, saveloy and chips. £25.45

My friend and I visited Superfish and were not disappointed. The haddock was nicely cooked and the batter was thin and crispy. The chips were well-cooked and not greasy. Service was good and would recommend.

Slow and unorgansided and clueless with the orders. There is no ordering system in place and missed out many customers ahead. Staffs look like they not yet awake and slow as a turtle. I don't normally give 1 star review but for this time, 1 star is what they deserved.

We always used to love Superfish but the portions seem to have been cut down a lot. Chips never seem fresh anymore either. A real shame as this Fish and Chips used to be amazing

Go here once a year after visiting Brookwood Military Cemetery. We live in Kent but it is well worth the journey for both the food and visiting the cemetery (Chelsea Pensioners plot). My husband was raised in Yorkshire and their slogan Fish and Chips cooked the Yorkshire way is spot on. Highly recommend.

This has to be the greatest place to have fish and chips within the Surrey area! Finalist of the National Fish & Chip Awards 2013, this alone speaks a great volume of positivity that this little gem possesses. My colleague has been telling me about this place since I started work in Sutton and just last Friday, I decided to go with him for lunch and I was not disappointed! It’s not cheap nor is it expensive, but for the area and environment it is worth every penny. We were greeted with great warmth and were offered complimentary shell on shrimps and warm bread and butter. I ordered the small cod and chips and it was superb! So why not the full 5 stars ? The wait was over 10 minutes but then again it was during lunch time when the place was nearly full. The problem with most fish and chips establishments are the high levels of grease used, this is not the case here. The cod was soft and full of flavour as were the chips. The service was very professional and hospitable, the old concept of service with a smile and warmth has not been forgotten here, my colleague who has travelled all over the world, rates this place the full five stars when it came to service. We will be returning very soon. Keep up the good work Super Fish! A+++

One of the best places for eat in Fish and Chips with complementary Prawns and Bread which is a big bonus. I would definitely recommend eating in as with takeaway you seem to get significantly less. Apart from that, always good quality fish is served
