Wow! We found a lovely gem! We had a delicious alfresco brunch. The staff were amazing !! Please of free parking nearby along with local shops.

Such a lovely place. We were very fortunate to win the prize of afternoon tea for two which had been generously donated as a raffle prize. The cafe was so pretty, the staff friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. There was a steady stream of people coming in and the popularity is understandable given the fabulous selection of treats and lunches. I would highly recommend it!

DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!!! Popped in for a simple sausage and egg sandwich and nearly fell over in disbelief when they charged me £6.20!!! And they didn't even cut it up for me. Won't be going back anytime soon

Don't bother. I dropped in for a takeaway coffee and a snack for my daughter. While waiting at a table I gave my toddler some of her snack only to be told that eating in wasn't free. I clearly explained that we were just waiting for my coffee and now we would go. We won't be returning.

Lovely afternoon spent over an Afternoon Tea. Great value for money where the food was fresh. Good selection too with no curling up at the edges sandwiches!! Would highly recommend

We used to love this place and visited weekly. Now it’s really overpriced and the staff are quite rude. £10 is well overpriced for a jacket potato with cheese and beans. It is charging the prices of a gastro pub when in fact it’s really a cafe in a residential area. I find the staff quite rude. It was all too much trouble to even ask for skimmed milk in our drink which we were told they didn’t do, but we were told in a way that made you feel you were in the wrong even asking! We queued for drinks on way out, to just be told by the staff pointing at another man that he was first, when in fact he then said oh I’m waiting for my sandwich to be told by the lady - what sandwich. I myself could tell her he had ordered it less than 5 mins before. I really hope it survives through the next year or so because in a time of rises in cost of living, I feel they are pricing themselves out of the market for a service that isn’t that good anymore

Chicken curry was delicious and tasty. Pav did a good job in making it taste like having your mums curry. As always good tasty food for the right price.

I feel really lucky to have this so close to me, what a beautiful little shop/cafe. Food is simply delicious. Prices I felt are reasonable for the quality of products. I've seen some negative reviews about prices but come on now, we all know what's happening in this country. I'd rather have this shop than not have it! I'm a big believer of supporting local independent businesses rather than your big chains! I hope the cake shop Putnoe keep up their good work, because ill certainly be coming back! The chocolate toothpaste is to die for hunni!!! xxx

I’m a regularly visitor at the cake shop and the food is always so good and value for money. The cakes are amazing. 🤩 Lovely Parv recommended the Mac and Cheese lunch. Denise who made the lunch did Not disappoint as the lunch was again excellent and worth the wait. The service and friendly staff are always so helpful and accommodating. The cake shop is a gem and worth visiting every time you’re in the area. Sunita

£3.80 for a small filled roll! I can get a full fry-up for that in London and the bacon's fried instead of microwaved. I appreciate everyone's overheads are going up at the moment but this place was already expensive, now with their latest price rises it's just ridiculous. It's useful this place being local but so is McDonald's. For the price of a roll I can get three burgers and the coffee is almost twice the size for half the price too.

Stopped here today for an unplanned breakfast stop - and Im already planning to go back! Poached eggs on toast were blissful; eggs not so much yellow as sunshine orange. Properly poached with light whites and runny yokes. I accompanied this with a regular Latte which came in a good sized glass mug; first latte I have had in recent memory that has either been hot enough when served or hot enough to remain hot whilst I ate. This was both. The fact that the shop is brilliantly air conditioned was just the icing on the cake (excuse the pun) on such a hot day as today. Sauce was also served in a bottle and not those silly little plastic packets which I struggle to open. At £7.80 in total I feel this is very good value for the quality.

Oh dear, a lovely place but the dearest cup of coffee I've ever encountered, £3.40, they say it's because of VAT!!! Why, how can that be justified? Even their take away price at £3.00 is a rip off. I'm afraid we didn't stay for one. So disappointing. Cafe Crema in Bedford town serves a generously sized, delicious cup for £2.60.

It is okay but like most other places overpriced coffee and cake there are better places to eat the jacket potatoes are small for the money the coffee was nice but dear

The food is fairly good but for the price is just a rip off. .no other bakery charges what they do here. Breakfast roll and cake over £8 🥴🙃🙃

Visited for breakfast. Excellent made to order breakfast. Pick what you like. Breakfast for three was prepared to order. Tea & coffees came quickly to our table. Food was soon to follow. Meals were excellent. Good potion size. Cakes to complete our visit. A great & varied selection of cakes on offer. Scrumptious. I highly recommend the cake shop.

I visit on a regular fortnightly basis with a friend for lunch. We have a roll and a cuppa. A nice lunch at a reasonable price. We then occupy a table for well over an hour for a chat. The staff are polite and friendly and never make us feel we have overstayed our welcome. On the strength of the good experience and having no idea what to buy a friend for her 70th birthday I bought an afternoon tea voucher. Success , she loved it. Actually said that she would be going back because the man who served her was so charming. Well worth a visit.

I sometimes call in here to pick up a roll, cake etc.on my way to visit my Mum and the portions are always on the generous side, however called in yesterday & ordered the Warm Winter Salad.... so disappointing. I did ask what it comprises of and was told pumpkin, beetroot etc with a honey & mustard dressing, great I thought! Took takeaway container to Mum's full of happy expectation and what a sad sight.... no more than 4 tiny pieces of watery pumpkin, 6 tiny pieces of chopped up beetroot (I'd be shocked to learn if it was a whole beetroot?) and shredded iceberg lettuce, oh and a little bit of dressing....£4.20p??? If you're going to serve something like this at least roast the vegetables beforehand to have abit of texture/taste as squash/pumpkin was watery plus a little bit more salad would have been good. Next time I'll stick with the rolls/sandwiches or jacket potatoes.

Three friends and I have just enjoyed a lovely hour and a half getting together before the Christmas break over a lovely afternoon tea. An endless pot of tea arrived with two stands of delicious sandwiches and cakes including the best scones I've had for some time, with cream and jam. This little cake shop is a hive of activity ..and I can see why ! If you have the chance, or you fancy a break from the norm, give it a try.

Lovely pot of tea accompanied by an equally tasty home made cake - just what the doctor ordered! And all at a reasonable price.

I was looking for a cake maker to make some mini cakes for an unusual or un-birthday/afternoon tea. I live in Hungary so it is not possible to be in Bedford for every birthday of my son's family. So I could organise the event and the type of cakes with her on line. I made some difficult requests, i.e. long names on small cakes. The cakes were better than I had expected. We had to take them home. They were still fresh 3 days later. Kim and her staff could not do enough to help and ensure that we had an excellent time. Everyone smiled and was friendly The window is very decorative, see photo.The next time that I can visit Bedford, this will be the place to come. Thanks again

In view of other reviews, I was extremely disappointed with the 'curry and cauliflower' soup that I tasted today.I have the good fortune of regularly dining out in the UK, Europe and the USA and appreciate soups from various cuisines in the course of my work.Unfortunately, the curry and cauliflower soup served can only be described as the worst soup I have ever tasted. Rather than a 'soup' the said broth had no body, creme or texture except for an overpowering sour vinegary taste of spiced curry with floating bits of hard cauliflower.In short, if you had emptied a wok with a remnant of unmitigated curry sauce and cauliflower pieces into a bowl and called it 'soup' you broadly arrive at the dish - curry sauce and cauliflower pieces in a bowl - which is rather different approach from making a soup with cauliflower and curry flavourings & tones.The staff were perfectly polite when I sent it back and offered me a drink, but I declined. I rarely write bad reviews and wish this business every success in the future - including improving their notion of 'soup'.

A great traditional tea shop that is a credit to the community it serves. Great choice of cakes and bread and also does a really good "full English" breakfast. They've even had Nadya from the great british bake off in for lunch !

Popped in for lunch for the first time and was very impressed! This shop should be ranked higher than it is. A lovely selection of fillings for rolls, baps, bagettes as well as a specials board with tasty hot meals and a standing menu of cooked favourites. Opposite Putnoe library and close to other shops it is in an ideal location. You must try it. Apart from the food, the staff were absolutely great. The tables were clean. The four-seater round tables are huge. Service was fast.

Myself and my son visited today - his last day of the holidays - for a bite to eat and a nice cup of tea. Had lovely fresh roll and my son had a baguette. Both were lovely and for me, washed down with a nice cup of tea. Lovely. We are regular visitors here - sausage rolls, rolls, cakes and I've even had the children's birthday cakes made there. Fantastic. Keep up the good work.

I have often popped in for a sandwich or pasty and cakes. The food is all good , selection is bit limited after lunch. Cakes are okay.

I love this little cafe. It has really improved (perhaps new owners) Really nice cakes, sandwiches, light meals, bread etc. Seating indoors and out.Breakfast is good too!

Believe me when I say I'm literally the biggest fan of bacon butties and, as such, I am quite picky about how they are cooked. Fact: this is the BEST bacon buttie I have ever had. 1stly the bread bap was exquisite: soft, fluffy and light with a crusty exterior - divine in flavour. 2ndly the bacon was perfectly crispy and the eggs were still soft. Yummy!!!!!I honestly think this cafe is the best I've ever been to! The staff were lovely too - thanks ladies!!

Popped in for a coffee and cake. Lovely piece of coffee and walnut. It is a place that locals use. Builders often pop in for rolls, and OAP's for coffee. The ladies are smiling and friendly. Good cakes, nice coffee, friendly staff. Everything a cafe should be. I chatted to some ladies who regularly use it for a fry up. They also make cakes to order and have built up a reputation for this.

I can't fault this shop. Great food and friendly staff. Certain foods are homemade and taste great, delicious treats for young ones or yourself if your feeling naughty! Definitely worth a visit.

We have stopped here a couple of times, breaking journey between north and south. Friendly staff, pleasant surroundings, easy parking, yummy food, reasonable prices, clean loos - everything we want from a pit stop.

The Cake Shop in Putnoe is an excellent complement to a visit to the Library opposite - the food and service are very good and with great weather it is a pleasure to sit outside and indulge!

This is my new favourite place to stop and pick up sandwiches, made fresh to order on your choice of bread. The cakes are also very tasty.Good place to stop in and eat or have a coffee, always people coming in, extremely good value.

Been here a few times and it's always got customers but never feels crowded. Bread and cakes are excellent, as are the freshly made sandwiches.Friendly, efficient and chatty staff make it a nice place to stop.

Hi we popped in for Lunch, had french Stick and a cake and a hot drink. Overall it was pleasant the order was taken slightly wrong so got egg mayo instead of Egg Mayo and Bacon, But no big drama there think it was made with Salad cream but was still pleasant, Bread was ok , My cake was very nise my wifes tart was ok. The value was extremely good. Over all it was fine but not anything better than that lookng at the reviews maybe just a bit of an off day . Would go again if passing as good selection of cakes. but would not make a special journey. Service was friendly.
