I ordered the crispy lamb salad which was well presented on lettuce but it was burnt. I was asked how was my food and said that the lamb was burnt and I couldn’t eat it. The waitress said that she would tell the chef. Nothing happened. It was three very expensive burnt mouthfuls for £21.

Arrived for early tea. Ordered sausages for 2 of the children. Sausages arrived dark brown/black and inedible. Complained and were told that they were recooked sausages from breakfast. Manager came to us later and offered new sausages cooked from scratch as if doing us a favour! This should have been done at the start. Extremely defensive and arrogant attitude from staff which was difficult to comprehend. Found this more upsetting than the burnt sausages!! Children should receive good quality food as much as adults. penny pinching in the extreme.

Visited with my youngest daughter for a treat while she's home from uni. Been here a couple of times before & we love it. The atmosphere is lovely & the decor is gorgeous, lots of things to see. We had roast beef Sunday dinner & we can whole heartedly say, every single element of it was absolutely done to perfection, especially the gravy (&plenty of it)! We were full but greedy, so both had the crumble on offer (one apple & berries, the other pear & maple syrup) both with custard, oh my days they were both beautiful. 2 happy customers again. Thank you, we will be back 😊

Visited here several times over the years. The food is usually good quality and the portion sizes are too. Had the Chicken Kebab Main Meal today, but there was only 4 (yes, 4), pieces of chicken, about 1" sq in size, with some salad leaves, 1 cherry tomato cut in half, a smattering of roasted peppers/onion on a small flatbread (dairy free offering), and a small bucket of fries, all for £18. Really not worth the money at all, and so disappointing.

Visited for first time, ordered salmon salad and a glass of wine at a cost of £30. The poached salmon was very cold and had obviously been sat in the fridge for some time. En route home ( 22 mile drive) I experienced stomach cramps and had a very upset tummy on my return home. Contacted Stydd to provide feedback. I didn’t think I had food poisoning as the gastric disturbance cleared up after a couple of hours but non the less was an unpleasant experience that I felt sure was attributable to my lunch. I thought the Stydd should be informed as other customers may have had a similar experience. The initial response was fine and I was told that the chef would be informed. However when the chef rang me he was extremely defensive said the salmon had been stored for 1 day had been ‘probed’ and ‘logged’ and he would keep cold salmon stored for 3 days, he did not offer an apology and suggested I consider what I’d eaten the night before! I informed him his customer care was poor and he should appreciate feedback which he eventually acknowledged. I don’t regret visiting the Stydd but do regret providing feedback needless to say both left me with a degree of discomfort!

Amazing food in a beautiful relaxed setting 🥰 we had the Christmas menu which I thought was very good value. Ribchester resident. Not been here for a few years. Reserved a family of six for lunch recently. Arrived, saw menu and left. I eat out all the time, I go to Michelin restaurants and high end restaurants Not irregularly and expect to be charged for quality food and dining. But this doesn't mean I won't engage my brains or will pay any amount of money regardless of what I get in return. £18 for a ciabatta and £6 for a bowl of chips from a cafe kitchen? If you don't see a problem with this, you have money but no sense.

Lovely surroundings. Overpriced food. Ham sandwich and tiny cup of tea over £14. Sandwich must have been two inches think. Could have used it to prop the door open in a gale. Nice ham though. Asked for a sweetener for my tiny cup of tea to be told these are not supplied by the cafe. When paying I was asked if everything had been ok. The cashier seemed surprised when I explained my disappointment. Doubt I will return.

Booked a table earlier for a Wedneday for a late lunch. I’m glad we did. We arrived to find every outside table taken. Really busy, but seated at a lovely table within 2 minutes. Drinks were offered and served within five minutes and then left to pick from the menu. Time was perfect for the maitre d’ to return to take our meal order. We ordered a ham sandwich and a ‘posh fish butty’. Both plates came in good time, accompanied by a lovely fresh salad, bowl of chips and a really tasty home-made coleslaw, served by pleasant young waitresses. The food was Delicious! Obviously the place is really popular so booking ahead is advisable for peak times. Overall, food was delicious and plentiful, staff were pleasant and attentive and surroundings were beautiful with the gardens well kept and flowers in full bloom. We will definitely return. We were passing and called in for lunch - it's always very busy and booking recommended - but were quickly found a table. It was very cold outside but warm and very welcoming inside! Very quirky as it's inside a large glass greenhouse/summerhouse with lots of unusual decorative items scattered about! We ordered a BLT sandwich and Piri Piri prawns with sweet potato fries, and although it was full and busy they arrived quite quickly, we shared a dessert of berry crumble and all were delicious! Once again the food and service were excellent and would recommend - but booking recommended as it's always busy especially in summer with the lovely gardens outside!

I have been here a few times and this time I left disappointed. The cafe is beautiful with amazing decoration. The menu has a lovely choice and the food is good. I last left a review for this cafe in 2017 of which I said, 'unfortunately the staff let The Cafe at Stydd down, unfriendly, uninterested', I still think this, nothing has changed. Also I am no penny-pincher, however the prices are expensive for what you get. We had the Eggs Royale for breakfast at £9.50, I could understand this if the salmon was wild alaskan sockeye, however it was cheaper farmed salmon. I asked if I could have my pot of tea with my food, I was told no as the food comes out when its ready ... if the cafe was busy I could have understood however there was only us and another table in as it was brunch time, in my mind that is just lack of effort with a can't be bothered attitude!

We went for a meal yesterday. Although the meal was fine they seemed to be penny pinching in everything they did. First they charged for tap water which is something we have never been charged for before..anywhere!,Secondly, the Bakewell Tart when it came didn't come with any cream or ice cream. We asked for ice cream and 1 solitary dollop appeared for which they charged is an extra £4, meaning that a simple dessert cost us almost £11Even the fish finger sandwich was £14 which is ridiculous beyond belief. At the end of the day it is a cafe not The Dorchester. They need to remember that fact

Been here lots in the past but this is our first time since the new owners have taken over. The food is as wonderful as we remembered, but the prices seem to have jumped up considerably. For example, the duck salad is £14.50. Service was generally okay but left us with no cutlery, and were completely oblivious meaning we had to go and find our own in the end. Went with friends to this off the beaten track quirky place near Ribchester. The venue is inside a number of greenhouses and is very quirky with plants growing inside and mixed pictures, statues, clocks and mirrors etc.The staff were friendly and the service was fairly good. The venue was quite busy and despite what some of the other trip advisor reviews say, the food we saw being brought out looked really good. The negative of where we were sat is we kept getting dropped on from the greenhouse roof as it was raining outside but we were unsure if it was raining in or condensation. We went for Afternoon Tea for 4. This consisted of an espresso cup of homemade soup, a warm mini quiche, 4 finger sandwiches for the savoury offering per person. The sweet offering consisted of a mini Elton mess, a mini cheesecake, a mini chocolate brownie and a mini jam & cream scone and a mini bakewell tart. Everything was delicious although we all felt that the scone was very dry.

There was a dead fly in my drink and I had kindly asked for it to be replaced with another. The waitress with brunett hair (looked about mid to late 30’s) had told me to “stop being so ridiculous, it’s a garden centre I can not replace every drink when a fly goes into it.” She then got a spoon to take the fly out of my drink (in front of me) and walked away laughing. I found this to be very rude and uncalled for. I myself am a waiter and would never speak to a customer in that manner, regardless if the policy is to not replace any drinks.

We were seated at a table in direct sun indoors...I was nearly passing out! We asked if we might move outside where everyone else was sat...I should mention that we had opted to sit inside originally...the lady who seemed to be in charge was most obliging and opened a parasol for us at a table outside. Our lovely cold drinks arrived quickly, but unfortunately, there was quite a lengthy wait for the food to arrive, but it was very busy and the food was delicious and well presented. Someone on here tells you to ignore the negative comments. Having made a complaint to the owner and had no response I wanted to let people know to expect indifference here. We're local and have had some lovely lunches in a pretty setting however there is an obvious lack of organisation and poor customer service which was apparent last week when we had a family gathering. Service was shocking, waited 45 minutes for food and nobody was available to reorder drinks. We had to keep leaving our table to find someone. In fact the staff seemed to be deliberately avoiding us. We had to pre-order and leave a deposit so our presence wasn't exactly unexpected. The menu sent to us differed from the menu on the day so one item was changed and charged for. After waiting at least half an hour for desserts we were told the order hadn't been put through to the kitchen. We decided to leave. The Bill wasn't correct. The owner sat chatting on the next table. He was oblivious or didn't care. Lost out on money from more drinks and desserts. It starts with the owner and impacts on staff. They looked miserable and had no idea about responding to unhappy customers. A friend told me about her similar experience not long ago. A bit of care, staff training and organisation would make a big difference.

Asked where we could get hot drinks on a snowy afternoon in February and was told of this gem of a café. Newly laid car parking close to what looked like an old greenhouse, it came as a shock when we went into the warm and rather amazing café. Really fabulous atmosphere, tables for probably 50 people, all occupied, with people eating meals and some with just drinks. We were made very welcome by the owner of the café. The staff were excellent, the hot chocolates really very good. A sudden hail and snow storm occurred as we sat with our drinks and what made the place rather magical was that a young lady walked around the "green house" and lit somewhere near 30 to 40 candles. Instant brilliant atmosphere. Being a green house originally it has many living plants inside making some areas nicely private. >A really fabulous café well worth a visit.

We try to get to the Glass House at Stydd at least twice a year and have always found the trip to be worthwhile. The food is consistently good and the staff are really lovely. The restaurant is situated in a series of glasshouses with the tables set out between Mediterranean palms and ferns. The food is consistently good with a menu just a little bit different from the norm, our seafood platters were excellent and their most popular dessert, lemon meringue pie was just like a home made one. Our server had cottoned on that was my birthday so mine arrived with a candle in the top, a nice touch. I can thoroughly recommend Stydd Gardens, 10/10, well done.

Arriving at noon on a Friday, we were able to sit outside in the unusually pleasant sunshine, and selected a meal from the extensive menu. Our food was tasty and well presented, and the service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The venue had a most enjoyable atmosphere, an I can recommend it for those visiting the garden centre or one of the wide range of other businesses in the complex.

My first visit to Stydd Gardens. My partner, daughter and one of my grandchildren went because of a Honey Fest on that day and decided to stay for lunch at the cafe. I had a mixed seafood platter, which was delicious and very nicely served. The rest of my party were equally happy with their choices. The cafe has a lovely ambience as it is full of quite exotic greenery. We also were beautifully serenaded by a guitarist. Will defiantly visit again sometime.

We had a great afternoon tea here for my birthday. The food was stupendous - everything was homemade. We were fortunate to have great weather, so sat outside under the parasols. Service was quick and staff were attentive. We would definitely visit again! Thank you!

Stydd cafe is not only a fabulous country location, the breakfasts, lunches, and tapas are absolutely fantastic. You can sit outside surrounded by gorgeous cottage garden plants, shrubs, flowers, and theres a beautiful dove cote. Or you sit inside the glasshouse surrounded by eclectic objects. Evening tapas are romantic and twinkly. Fresh, high standard food, presented beautifully. Afternoon teas with home made cakes are a quintessential English delight. You won't regret it! Then, you can mooch around the shops. It's a really special venue.

I'm not sure what other people are referring to on the service as all the staff were very pleasant and polite. I eat out at least twice a week so we'll positioned regarding service and the staff are a credit to the cafe as as efficient as anywhere else I've been. The place itself is in lovely surroundings and the food is amazing and well priced. First time I have been and will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic mid-summer nights dream type setting with greenery, chandeliers & fair lights. Lovely menu & specials blackboard, all the food was fresh and beautifully presented, hats off to the chefs. All on ground level so OK for disabled. Unfortunately the staff let The Cafe at Stydd down, unfriendly, uninterested.

Lovely setting and ambiance although chairs very uncomfortable. Strange choice of music that was playing. As for the food it was excellent and I will definitely be back soon for more. The staff however seemed bored / disinterested and didn't know much about the food they were serving (for example what is the soup today and does the salad come with a dressing ). We noted that two of them were playing with their hair a lot which is not good around food. That said I have had much worse customer service elsewhere (maybe caught them on a bad day). As I said the food was excellent and I look forward to a repeat visit.

The food was excellent, especially the desserts. We came for a birthday celebration and it's probably best to book in advance. Not everything on the menu was available but everything we had was delicious, especially the salted caramel cake. One lady in particular was an outstanding member of staff! Very, nice stylish place.

Very disappointed. I had booked a table for afternoon tea for my birthday. Unfortunately, when I arrived I was told that the reservation had not been made and they could not accommodate my husband and I. There was no effort made to try to fit us in and frankly, a 'sorry' when you have driven 45 minutes anticipating a nice treat just doesn't cut it. We were both terribly disappointed and will certainly not be returning. Would advise others to beware, the lack of flexibility when the establishment was at fault is unlikely to be a one-off.

Love this place, quirky setting and food absolutely fabulous - always. Hope the addition of a beach bar and evening tapas doesn't compromise the quality of the daytime food.

This place was recommended to us which makes you arrive with high expectations. We were not disappointed. We immediately liked the ambiance of the café, being surrounded by tropical plants and candles. I could have chosen several dishes off the menu, they all sounded very tempting and well thought out. All our meals arrived looking absolutely stunning. They turned out not to be just fabulously presented but tasted just as wonderful as they looked. Will definitely return and then make sure I am sufficiently hungry to manage a pudding - they looked superb.

I visited the cafe at Stydd Gardens after making an appointment with the owner/manager Stephen for coffee and to discuss and arrange my daughters post christening celebrations on Tuesday 24th January. We had what we thought was a partially successful meeting although slightly awkward at times as he spoke in a very unprofessional and inappropriate manner about one of the waitresses in front of us and came across as extremely uninterested in us being there. We left being told confidently that he would contact us the next day via email to discuss costs and menu options for the discussed buffet and event. I was extremely disappointed, a little annoyed and slightly underwhelmed when I didn't hear back the next day as agreed, so after 4 days of hearing nothing I emailed him via their website, again no response which in itself was very poor service and then heard nothing so then contacted Stephen via text. This clearly reminded him that he had not called or emailed me and prompted him to eventually email me back. I am absolutely disgusted that after waiting so long for what I thought was just an email confirming the menu options and price that he in fact has decided that he will no longer accommodate the booking and has declined the christening party. We got a distinct impression upon leaving after our initial meeting that in fact he has very little interest in offering us the venue and in turn clearly feels customer service and the power of word of mouth unimportant. I am appalled that a small local business would act in such a way, operate their business in such an unprofessional and disgraceful manner and more than anything regard customer service with such distain. It is abundantly obvious now that he never had any intention to accommodate the booking and I find the whole experience a disgrace. I have spoken to everyone who was invited to the christening and explained that this has happened; I believe in the power of word of mouth and also now completely understand why the owner/manager hasn't got the best reputation locally for how he treats staff (past and present) and how he operates his business. Such a shame that a small business feels this is acceptable service and I would have absolutely no interest in returning or recommending the cafe at Stydd Gardens to family, friends, colleagues or visitors to Ribchester.

Come here quite a lot for lunch however note price rises since our last visit. No problem with that as costs increase and is to be expected from time to time but they do seem a bit steep. BUT.. margarine on sandwiches. Suspect this is cost cutting as opposed to healthy eating reasons. Who uses marguerite these days… on a £10 sandwich. Shame as we used to like this place. Wil be interesting to see if it remains as busy now. We will probably start going elsewhere now for a light lunch as prices no more competitive and margarine is a no no!

Great family breakfast! 7 of us ,had 6-64 visited this morning. We had pre-booked as we were a large party. We had two children ,a vegetarian adult and a vegan adult. All of our needs were met admirably. Immaculately clean and the table was set ready for us. All members of staff were cheerful and polite. The service was prompt with all the meals delivered together. The boys had been given a small biscuit to have with their drink while waiting. All the meals were beautifully presented and really tasty. The menu has a lovely varied selection and we all had different breakfasts which were freshly cooked to order. We were there for an hour including a look at the nice furniture! The toilet facilities were very clean. We were parked right outside. Nothing to gripe about here! The restaurant area was full by the time we left. Full marks ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
