We had visited 3 years before and remembered an good experience and we were not disappointed on our return. We both decided to go for soup and a sandwich combo, expecting 1/2 a sandwich at the price. We were both surprised when the fresh made to order sandwiches came fully stacked, no half measures. The Cauliflower Chowder was amazing and we both rated it the best thing we’d tasted this holiday. The service was friendly and relaxed and the atmosphere light and airy. I shouldn’t say too much otherwise it might be packed next time we visit.

We had a really good breakfast here on Friday morning before we left Settle. The coffee was superb and the atmosphere very friendly. Only one gripe why was it closed on Wednesday and Thursdays? our friends had told us how good it was and we would have eaten here more often had it been open.

Visited today - enticed by the slow cooked pork tacos . Sadly nowhere on the menu description did it say the pork was cooked with Star anise and oranges. Such a pungent flavour. I know places don’t list all ingredients but would have expected something so strong to be mentioned in the description. One mouthful and couldn’t eat the rest ( usually I can manage to eat almost anything) , had to return dish uneaten and was sadly still charged full price £12 . Ordered alternative meal - full English which was nice but even the baked beans had been mixed with something without any mention . I don’t mind flavours and different food but would find it helpful for it to be mentioned then you know what ur getting . Sadly a very expensive lunch overall

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the coffee excellent. The food (bacon and sausage sandwich & bacon/avocado on toast) was very tasty, but I feel that the quantities were rather small for the price. The atmosphere in the cafe was light and airy. A pleasant place for a brunch, but I'd suggest they could review either the quantity or price of menu items.

Serving freshly made to order food inspired by ottelenghi! In fact the food was so good that I think it was the chef himself in disguise. Warm welcome in a busy place yet still attentive service, I would recommend sharing a table with others or sitting at the bar area as tables are sought after! Using local produce producing exquisite flavours and reasonably priced. They also sell the tea from “good and proper tea” company. The Roobios is fabulous, I noted the head waitress cleaning down her coffee machine with pristine clean brushes and the cleanliness of the chef was also noted regularly washing hands using his elbow to turn on and off the taps! The clothes and gift store has wonderful items for sale and so nice to potter and browse around! Best thing we did in Settle was hind your cafe, thank you 🙏

Travelling from Cumbria to West Yorkshire we had set off early with a plan to stop in Settle for late breakfast. Had selected the bike shop cafe but when we arrived there we found it was less than welcoming environment (which might suit hardy cyclists who don't expect the temperature to be warmer inside than outside) Had seen the Cafe @ Car as we were parking and so we dcided to try it! It was brilliant. and wished that I'd seen when I'd looked at Trip ADvisor. Their rating should be higher ! The reviews I have now seen sum it up really well.....lovely decor, lovely food and lovely staff who make you feel that they enjoy what they are doing and really do want to please their customers.

We reckoned this was the best place to sit outside in the afternoon sun, in the middle of Settle, after a decent day’s walk in Ribblesdale, and a fine spot it is too. I was asked if I wanted lemon or milk in my Earl Grey - so a cafe with a certain style - and the pot of tea itself was proper leaf tea in an infuser, not teabags, so another . The cafe itself is upstairs above the shop and will bring drinks out to you if you’ve paid beforehand, and the shop is delightful. A fine little place and a good alternative to the Naked Man Cafe.

Called in for lunch yesterday. Pleasant friendly attentive staff and lovely food - all made on site or locally sourced, so quality ingredients. I doubt its the cheapest in Settle but we thought it was good value - we had the brunch options of the veggie breakfast and the full English (most definitely not a greasy spoon!). There was a slight mix up with the bread for my dish (GF) so slight delay in our food arriving, but they dealt with it in such a professional way. Arrived for coffee and a snack just after a party of around eight cyclists. We were told there would be a long wait as they had to fill the previous orders first. There were two people serving and the cyclists had only ordered drinks and snacks. Now surely they could have split the orders allowing one server to make our coffee and then help the other who would have started on the larger order - or is this unreasonable? We’ve been on both sides of this type of service and it keeps everyone happy. As we didn’t want to endure a “long wait” we left and found another cafe.We also didn’t browse the clothes; the last time we were in, we spent over £100!It just take a bit of thought.

Went view the flowerpot men in Settle and picked on the The Cafe to have a light lunch. I chose the B.L.A.T - bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato - and my wife had the F.A.T. - feta, avocado and tomato. There was a choice of at least 4 breads, we chose the soft rye. I can only comment on my choice, the B.L.A.T. When it came it had the wow factor. The thickness of the bread was more than matched by the thickness of the filling. Freshly cooked bacon, what seemed to be a whole avocado with fresh lettuce and tomato. The bread was out of this world, although thick it was soft and delicious. The taste was unbelievable and I'm ashamed to say I ate it far to quickly. My wife enjoyed hers just as much but took her time to eat it. If ours is anything to go by there are lots of other excellent choices on the menu.

My family and I arrived in Settle having taken the train from Kirkby Stephen. A welcoming Market Town with so many places to eat we were immediately impressed with the look and feel of the Car and Kitchen. The cafe is upstairs in a really lovely shop and with its white washed walls and oak surfaces it is a trendy but very welcoming, light and bright space with plenty of room around the tables. The menu is reassuringly limited but everything on the menu sounds delicious and uses locally sourced produce. Being on holiday I went for the Yorkshire Breakfast and a pot of the award winning tea. If I could have made my own breakfast it would have looked like this. Beautifully cooked bacon, sausages and black pudding served with toasted sourdough bread, sweet homemade baked beans and two perfectly cooked poached eggs. Accompanied by the sweet tea it was just a perfect and generous lunch (served until 3) The prices are amazing lunch for six was so reasonable and the food was loved by all. The food was cooked on show in a spotlessly clean cooking area flanked by a breakfast bar and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. All in all a little gem in a very pretty town. If I could have eaten there every day I would have found something I fancied and loved it.

It was modern and very clean. Although seated outside, the waitresses delivered our teas, using leaf tea, to our tables. The cafe is located above the delightful shop in the Market Square in Settle. Food is ordered and paid for at the counter. Our visit a few of weeks ago mid afternoon was very disappointing indeed. We ordered one Latte which was served in a very small cappuccino cup - barely warm. Tasted fine. One juice which after drinking the glass was still 3/4 full of ice. We we were not asked if we wanted ice, so to the staff please ask when taking orders. Perhaps it is so they use less juice! The scone arrived which was a triangular minuscule off cut - dry and disappointing and the coffee cake was also very small. The cost was £9.80 which for the quantity and overall quality very poor. We only had coffee and a toasted teacake which was enjoyable.(I have had better teacakes but the quality was not such that it detracted from the overall experience). The shop is really nice to visit, too!

We had a very nice coffee and an absolutely first class cake in here in delightful surroundings. That sounds very posy but it really was nice and I could have tried all the cakes - the one I had was great but it took ages to decideThe cafe is well designed (I am a shopfitter after all!) very relaxed with very stylish rather Scandinavian furniture. A great place to come and have a break and I'd like to have something more substantial here

Wonderful food and coffee served by very friendly and efficient staff. Great full English breakfast served with which ever bread you prefer and eggs cooked to how you like them. A very clean, bright and enlightening atmosphere in the heart of Settle. I cannot wait to visit again.

We stopped here during a walk around Settle for a coffee and scone. The latte’s are delicious and the scone perfectly baked. A perfect spot especially when the sun is out

This cafe is above a very trendy and excellent gift shop. It’s trying hard. There are some very interesting snacks on the menu and the coffee is good. But the ambience is almost too cool to be comfortable. There are a couple of comfortable benches, but they’re only really good if you’re part of a bigger party and not a couple. Some big leather armchairs wouldn’t come amiss. Atmosphere is a little clinical. Service also was little bit cold. But I would go there again. In fact I’m about to move to Settle, within just 150 yards of this place, so it’s highly likely I will give it a second chance

Came here for breakfast while visiting Yorkshire recently and couldn't recommend it enough. I had poached egg, avocado and bacon on rye bread and my friend had a salmon and cream cheese bagel, and both were delicious. We also got speaking to the manager, who was super friendly and gave us loads of tips about things to do in the local area, including some awesome walking routes.Would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

My favourite little boutique shop avec cafe that I have ever had the pleasure of visiting in all of the country. I have been many times and just keep coming back to enjoy the newly reburblished delight of a cafe with lovely friendly staff always ready to hear about my day and serve me up some seriously delicious and healthy grub even when they are really busy. The shop feels so cosy and welcoming with beautiful items for sale as well as the kind natured staff. My favourite part is that the food is locally sourced and helps to support other local businesses- a beautiful cafe with a beautiful soul that makes Settle worth a visit just to come here. I have eaten every single thing on the menu and it rocks my socks every single time. Delish.

My partner and I are on holiday visiting Yorkshire from Australia,we decided to stop off for brekky at a place called Settle on our way to The Lakes. We happened across a Cafe upstairs in a great gift shop that had a great modern look and feel to it.My partner was dying to try a "British traditional"breakfast that included Black Pudding and this one also had homemade baked beans that were out of this world as was the whole brekky. The staff were lovely, friendly hands on,which all added to the experience.

The highlight of our weekend in Settle was lunch at the cafe on the top floor of the lovely Car and Kitchen gift shop. The FAT (feta, avocado and tomato) Sandwich was absolutely delicious and enjoyed while looking out over the pretty town square. Staff were friendly and chatty and gave us loads of tips of what to do whilst we were visiting the Yorkshire Dales. We even returned later the next day for a couple of flat whites before buying some clothes in the shop and some bits and bobs for the home. We found a couple of other places in the area to be a bit dated, but the Car and Kitchen cafe has recently been done up and the decor is really relaxed and has a great vibe to it. We wouldn't hesitate to pop in again the next time we're visiting.

Not sure how to review this place. Having arrived to Settle on Friday afternoon, walking past and seeing the breakfast menu, we decided that's where Sunday breakfast would be. We arrived at half 10 and ordered within 5 mins. Our food arrived 40 minutes later. I wouldn't have minded if it was worth the wait. I ordered the Full Yorkshire and at £9 for a fried breakfast I would have expected something glorious considering the wait. What I got was soft chewy bacon, dry over cooked black pudding, bland over cooked mushroom, salty undercooked baked beans and one poached egg (the menu says 'eggs'). That would have also been bearable if the wait had been for lovely plump sausages, but they were chipolata sized and rather underwhelming so I couldn't quite understand the wait considering that we were the first in and the first order of the day. However, the bread was really nice! The above might sound unfair but I don't think it is. I live in London where my local cafe charges £10 for a fried breakfast, but what you get is 2 fat plump sausages, 2 eggs, 2 crispy bacon, tomato, a lovely sized mushroom, toast, baked beans, black pudding and a coffee or tea thrown in. The also use local suppliers (butchers, green grocers, tea/coffee etc), if you think I'm making it up, go and have a look. It's called the Fallow Deer, they're in Teddington. Compared to back home, I feel like there is a huge overcharge which doesn't add up because it's more expensive but doesn't compare in anyway. The kitchen is open and the chef seemed quite grumpy/snappy, which didn't go unnoticed by us but despite that the waitresses were polite and friendly. The decor and cafe itself is lovely. It's a nice setting, cozy with good light and ambience and it feels totally separate from the shop. So I really wanted to not grumble about what I was served but I just couldn't look past it because none of it was quite right.

The cafe has been refurbished (and possibly has new owners??) since our last visit and it is much improved. The cafe is now a pleasant place to eat/drink with white washed exposed walls, wood floors and complimenting fabrics and furniture - a little shabby chic perhaps.Really nice coffee is served and there is a good selection of cakes and light bites. Plenty of friendly staff means you don't wait long for orders or for food to arrive.

Myself and my family had a wonderful breakfast at the cafe and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We went back later that day for coffee and cake which was equally delicious! It's a great wee cafe above a wonderful shop that sells everything you could wish for in it! I'd highly recommend checking it out!

We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip. The owner & waitress are lovely, so friendly and helpful and seem very genuine that you enjoy your visit. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

My first visit to this pub and what a change from many of Skiptons tourist orintated watering holes a true"local". Excellent choice of cask beers and some quickfire crac with the barman. I'll be in again.
