The 'Burbs in Stockport

Lots of good reasons to go to this local restaurant, warm welcome, great service & some excellent food. However, the portions weren't enormous (except the fries, which were good). The seabass was very tasty but tiny, the calamari were not great and at around £1 for each little ring weren't good value but the chorizo and bean ragu was beautifully flavoured with smoked paprika and really stood out. Overall, a reasonable meal for a reasonable price. I would try again.

We had been promising ourselves a visit here since it opened so decided to book for a recent birthday. We ordered from the small plate menu and really enjoyed all the dishes. We had the pork loin (gorgeous, sauce was amazing), Mac n cheese (nice but wouldn't write home about), Grilled prawns (excellent BBQ favour), but the star of the show was the Dahl Bon Bons - amazing! We finished off with a biscoff Cheesecake - lovely enough for two to share. Service was attentive and pleasant. We would definitely recommend!

Been once before and thought it was disappointing. The prawns we had the first time we visited we got 4, and looked like they were from a packet in Asda with the tails dropped in the oil. Hearing they had a new chef and had changed the menu we returned on a whim and being polite, this was just as bad. Menu seems to be a mish mash of random dishes, none of which seem to go together really and if small plates are what you fancy, then make sure you re-mortgage before you visit. Positive part, the pizza was decent.

Had really expected more given all the fab reviews . Some dishes eg special pasta of day were lovely and good value , the small plates were not wonderful and bit pricey 8-10 each they recommend 5 between 2 . Felt £5 for a slice of bread was bit steep as well . Prawn dish I had was tasteless and the pineapple curry wasn’t great either. The staff were lovely and welcoming but just didn’t rate the food at all .

Went for a family birthday celebration on recommendation from friends. Every bit as amazing as we’d been told. Amazing food, wine, service and atmosphere

Mothers Day Sunday lunch was our first visit to this small restaurant. Initially thought we might be refused our booking as had been delayed in traffic and were 15 min late with our booking cancelled. However able to be catered for. Sunday lunch is a traditional beef or chicken main course with a starter or dessert for £22. Tried the beef with a Tiramisu dessert. Beef was tasty but a little fatty, veggies were OK with crispy roast potatoes. Yorkshire pudding was a bit soggy (before gravy added) but reasonable. The chicken was apparently OK. The dessert was quite tasty but rather cold in the centre. Drinks were not cheap but not excessively priced. Overall reasonable value but unlikely to return. Weekday menu would not be to my liking so not an attraction to try.

We went for a family birthday for the Sunday lunch deal. Food was excellent. Great atmosphere. Lovely service. Very good value for money. Will definitely be going back :)

We went to The ‘Burbs midweek for dinner. The food was excellent and of a very high standard. Every course we had from the wide ranging small plates menu was very well presented and delicious. The service was also very good. The stylish decor also deserves praise for the relaxed ambience it creates. The Heatons are lucky to have this restaurant in the locality.

Having booked a table for 8.30 pm on a Friday we turned up and was immediately asked to order the food as the restaurant had changed its closing time to 10pm. We said can we order a drink first whilst we looked at the menu. We ordered the food 10 dishes between 4 of us and one us went to the toilet. All of 5 mins tops. Whilst she was on the toilet all 10 dishes arrived at the table, no way was this food cooked fresh. Obviously frozen microwaved food. One of the dishes was prawns which the girl who had gone to the toilet had ordered it was cold and when she complained was told it was because she was on the toilet when they brought the food, We also bought a scallop dish which was one scallop cut into 3 pieces. We then said we would obviously like to leave and the restaurant did refund all the food from the bill thankfully. Not the restaurant we thought this was going to be and hope they can take this criticism positively and do something about it.

Me and my friend visited last night for the first time and we weren't disappointed. I'm all for supporting businesses and I've wanted to come here for ages considering it's just around the corner. We ordered 4 small plates and a pizza and this was definitely enough. The masala prawns, calamari, beef brisket and mushroom shawarma tacos were just lovely. Price wise very reasonable and the great thing is they change the menu every 3 to 4 months, keeping it fresh! Definitely recommend this place!

Me and a colleague had dinner here in November and it was just perfection. The food was delicious, the drinks were tasty and the staff were super helpful and recommended some plates for us to try. I have already planned a few more visits in the run up to Christmas! ❤️

The best Sunday Roast we have ever eaten outside my house (I can cook and enjoyed it more than my own - this never happens) The Indian broth on the mussels. Amazing The rosemary cream with the roast. Amazing The meat. The gravy. The roasties. The veg. Cannot fault a single thing. Also. The Tiramisu. I have only had one better and even then it was a while ago and would be a close taste test. Saying that this was in Venice and a family recipe so a massive compliment. Absolute value for money. My husband never orders a roast out and I thought he would have a pizza but he didn’t and was well impressed too. Service was also faultless. Thanks guys

Visited The Burbs last night and had a delicious meal. All the small plates from the new menu that we chose we absolutely gorgeous, especially The Coconut Dal with paneer. The restaurant was full and was buzzing with a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. So lucky to have this restaurant in our neighbourhood. Can't wait to go back.

Returned to indulge in the current menu before it stops and so glad we did, dined again as a family of 4 with two young children. The tortilla chips on arrival kept them going until pizzas arrived - they had the kids margaritas and we had a variety of small plates and a cheesy garlic bread to share. Food never disappoints and there’s always a cocktail on special to try - we had the baileys cocktail currently on offer, would highly recommend. Overall a great little local gem where my partner and I can enjoy a variety of food and the kids can enjoy a more casual pizza and chips meal - can’t fault it and can’t wait to try the new menu!

Possibly the worst food we’ve had as a family in many a year, sat in a soulless establishment with zero character! Feel sorry for the girls serving the food although we were told there was a new chef ! The writing was on the wall when we sat down to be presented with a tiny bowl of Aldi Snackrite tortilla chips.🤦🏻‍♀️ Didn’t have the pizza so can’t comment if that could have saved the evening but tbh I won’t be risking a return visit 🥴

Beautiful food and amazing service and amazing restaurant would recommend, the French fries came with a lot of them really good size.

What a hidden gem The ‘Burbs is! Terrifically tasty tapas from around the world, in a simple and stylish restaurant makes this a go-to place. Roxy, the manager and our server, was delightful and efficient and provided A Class service, making the whole experience one we’ll look to repeat very soon.

Pleasant, but wouldn’t go again, staff are great and service is good, prices are reasonable l, but food is average, honest review.

We ate four small plates between the two of us which left us hungry, were not particularly good and were rather overpriced. So we ordered a pizza which we enjoyed. A small bistro type restaurant, quite nice and pleasant staff.

First time we have visited and will definitely be back! Nice decor and very helpful staff. The menu has something for everyone, great pizzas and an interesting selection of tasty small plates. We are mainly fish and veggie eaters and there were lots of tasty...

Best thing to happen to Heaton Chapel yet. Excellent food and a great atmosphere. Really family friendly with good service and a excellent host.

Great experience at the Burbs yesterday. The new menu is fantastic, a great selection of delicious food perfect for families as there is something to suit everyone. Our favs were the chicken kebabs, prawns and steak. The salads are lovely too, very different from your usual garden salad. They complimented the food perfectly. The 20% off before 6pm is a fab idea too. 5 of us ate (a lot) inc pudding and drinks for £115.00. The service was fast and friendly. Will be back.

5/5 all round! Service last night (24th June) was fantastic as was the food and drinks. Really good menu, lots of choice and vegan/veggie options available for those that want it. The food was absolutely fantastic! Can’t wait to go back again, highly recommend it!

Wanted a bite to eat before heading into town. The service was excellent, the menu small and perfectly formed. Food was really excellent, especially the steak in chimichurri. Thought it would be good, it’s really good.
