We are away for a break in the Chester area, used this place years ago and was so good I came back!- Had to google where it was so we arrived quite hungry after a long journey south only to be told there’s no food available!…. Why not pop that fact on your website to save people the effort and diesel…. Had I been able to leave a zero review then I would…..

Lovely little dog friendly pub. Had the BLT which was really tasty and filling - good portions. Friendly service and only 2 minutes away from Cheshire Oaks.

We had the Sunday dinner. Beef or Gammon or both . We had both, obviously. Very tasty. Yum.

I'm not sure who has previously rated this establishment so highly, but based on our very brief visit, they must be fake profiles or very well known to the Owners/Landlord. From walking in the place looked dreary and had x3 members of staff gossiping behind the bar. We were eventually shown to a 'very sticky' table and curled up Menu dumped by us, only to be ignored for about 15-20 mins. By which time, we just thought we'd be polite and at least grab a coffee, only to be told the coffee machine was broken, so not hot drinks at all. At which point we made our excuses and left to try another place for lunch. Advice, don't believe all 5 star ratings are real, as this rating was certainly way off the mark.

Flies everywhere!! Would not go back! We used to love coming here but we went for lunch and the place was swarming in flies! There are clearly maggots somewhere for there to be that many!! Glasses and cutlery were dirty, tables and floor were all sticky.

Came here yesterday with the wife. We had a couple of drinks at first then thought we would try the food. And glad we did had the steak and ale pie was excepting a frozen pie or a puff pastry lid, but was pleasantly surprised to have a homemade pie it looked very rustic. My wife had the fish and chips. Would recommend was very tasty and value for money. Will be returning

Lovely pub and great beer garden, but the steak and ale pie was a let down, mostly thick pastry and only 3 small pieces of meat.

Table was sticky, waiter explained it was the varnish but still…. Not pleasant. Olives were expensive and clearly from a jar. There were bits of hard plastic in my lasagne. No one came to check if the food was ok. Kids dinners were fine. Wouldn’t go back

Had fish and chips Food was very poor ,chips were over cooked . Not hard to cook fish and chips . Peas very dry. My wife had chilli. Both not value for money spent

Me and my mate go there every other Thursday evening for a pint and a bite to eat. There is nowhere else within miles that comes close to The Bunbury Arms. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure the experience is second to none. Would highly recommend 👌

Been visiting this gorgeous pub for many years. Today, I had one of the best roasts I’ve ever had and I’m a tough critic when it comes to roast lunches! Very warm welcome, the staff all helped me feel comfortable with my son and my dog. Five star service. Pretty sure my sons chicken nuggets were a chef special and my roast and gravy! I’m a gravy freak were to die for x Thank you, keep being amazing. Family run, local business it’s right up my street x Jules x

Havn't been for a few years. We went for lunch. It is a lovely place to dine. Food acceptable. Wasn't a lot of fish in the batter. Overall good

I visited after mooring up on the canal. There was only one real ale on offer when I visited, but it was a very good pint of landlord. I didn't eat, but they have various two for one offers during the week or something similar. Welcoming friendly people.

Can't comment on food as we only went for a drink. However it smelt good. Lovely location and the owners have certainly made positive improvements.

The food is superb 10 out of 10, we went here for our 41st wedding anniversary, will definitely go back

Excellent food, good beer choice and service

We pre-booked for a table of 15 and had an excellent experience. We were well looked after without the service ever being intrusive, and the food and drink were both excellent. I would strongly recommend this delightful pub.

Great food good value, a stone's throw from blue planet and retail park, much better than the food on offer from the chain type restaurants. It took a while to arrive,(15mins) but well worth the wait. Portions generous also.

It was our first visit to the Bunbury Arms after COVID and felt that it was not as good as it has been in the past. The first thing we were told was that meals were only available if ordered before 19.45 , since our table was booked for 19.30 it was not a relaxed start. The main meals were good except for the curry which was said to be tasteless. The deserts were limited, 3 were sold out, which meant two out four of us did not have any. This is not a place to visit for a special experience as the menu was limited, one of the specials was also not available. I cannot recommend it and we will not be returning.

No food chef had had a serious accident but it was a Tuesday better look next time!

Turned up without booking. Found an available table to sit 8 people, asked staff member if they were still serving food.. she said yes... went to the bar all ordered drinks and sat at the table then to be told we couldn't sit there by another member of staff as we hadn't booked and we had a dog which wasn't allowed in that side of the pub. So went to the bar to ask if they were serving food outside, she said yes... something that should of been offered to us as an alternative to leaving after being seated already. Food came cold had to he reheated in the Microwave. Soup of the day was uneadable so asked to swap for a bowl of chips to be told ,NO that nobody else had complained about the soup that day bare in mind the soup starter was double the price of chips. Asked 2 members of staff for extra gravy was blatantly ignored and just walked past us. Awful service terrible customer service by the manager and staff . Staff looked fed up and unfriendly and more bothered about tucking into their roast than serving a table of 8 paying customers. The roast dinner itself was actually really nice just a shame about the staff.

Had to sit in smoking area with our dog shouldn't be advertised as dog friendly Sent one meal back as it was cold and didn't get it replaced until everyone else had finished so didn't bother. One of us had fish n chips very poor Sunday lunch was nice but not hot.

BRILLIANT!!..Didn't know the area and came across this great looking pub with a great looking seating area outside..Went in to eat (bearing in mind we'd already phoned a few other place, but nobody was interested, as there was 7 of us!!).Got a table straight away and we all ordered.The food & drink we had was great, and not overpriced.The guys who took are order for food & drinks were fantastic.!!.very helpful, polite & efficient. We all had a great time and we will definitely be back...

Just had the best Sunday pub roast, it was cooked superbly, the service was excellent friendly attentive staff I would highly recommend the bunbury arms if I was allowed to give 6 stars I would, easily accessible disability toilets.

First time visitor and it won't be the last! Had a lovely meal. Lots of outdoor seating perfect for a sunny day. Friendly staff and clean estatablishment

We love it here. The staff are just fabulous and make you feel so welcome everytime we go, even Frank the pooch came to say hello in the garden and sat with us the whole time ❤️

Stumbled on this place and what a lovely pub! Inside and outside places to eat/drink. The food was really tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were really friendly, polite and efficient. Will definitely visit again.

Gorgeous pub with great staff and fabous Sunday lunches. All freshly cooked so expect a wait but it is all worth it!

Food was ok although had been better in the past. I love home made food, but the Yorkshire was soggy and the carrot and swede a little bit watery fur my liking. That may just be my personal preference. We called on the off chance, quite quiet when we arrived but got a little busier. Staff were really pleasant.

Can't fault this place. We stumbled across it on a bike ride when we first moved to the area 3 years ago. If your looking for a proper pub, great service and a very tasty Sunday lunch look no further. Also great outdoor seating area. We ate here again yesterday and came away more than satisfied. So glad we found you!

Good place friendly staff good quiz last night

This is a brilliant pub. Dog friendly accomodating staff and amazing food. We had a family meal on Sunday 29th May. Ten of us two children and one dog. They staff couldnt have done any more for us. Everyone loved the food. Will go there again

I really wish I thought about taking photos before we tucked in Amazing food myself and partner went in yesterday 3/6/22 with our dog i phoned first to check dogs where welcomed and they incourage dogs in . The gentleman and lady who greated us were so welcoming , made a fuss of luna , our table had menus on and a little plate of treats for luna which she also loved she also gives 5 stars 🌟 🤩. We had the pizza and burger. Both fabulous. The pizza was delicious i really hope you keep this on the menu 🙏. Also have to recommend the hand cut chips amazing.!!! We will definitely be back with family soon .thank you for great service and great food .see you again.

A lovely country pub all on its own Better then the pictures that you see on your phone. As you walk through the door to this welcoming place a delightful smell from the kitchen hits you in the face. So scampi and chips is what i had here and washed it down with a goose neck beer.

I spent my childhood with my sisters and other family hear and my Mum ❤ is at rest nearby a lovely area

Great place for walks along the canal. Returning to the Bunbury, you get a friendly welcome, a good pint of ale and, if you want, a good pub meal. Inside or outside, a good place to be.

Recommended to us to try and we were definitely not disappointed, we had the mushrooms to start and then I had the steak and Guinness pie with home made chips and veg and my friend had the steak, took a while for our mains to come but they were worth the wait as everything was freshly cooked and it was nice to have a bit of time between courses anyway, the service was great and the staff were friendly, I would 100% recommend

Friendly staff and pleasant surroundings but the food wasn't great. My chicken and bacon was dry and my potato wedges were soggy and underdone, my wife's fish was soggy and she did not eat all of it.

We have eaten here previously, but this time, no baked potato 🥔, no mash, and the fish and chips took an hour to arrive. They were not nice when they did arrive.

I come here with my boyfriend and his friends when I'm in Chester. Staff are always friendly and down to earth. The food always smells amazing but havent eaten here yet. Our door seating is lovely, they have heaters for when its chilly.

Great pub - great food - excellent beer and service - hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Cheshire Oakes and the M 53 - highly recommended with a large garden and plenty of shade - it is perfect to sit in on a beautiful sunny summer day - a classic English setting in a typical English village - highly recommended - Tuna buttie fantastic

I visited here today with my wife and 2 year old daughter, I never normally write reviews but I really felt that this place was worthy of one! The place was excellent! The staff were great the food was brilliant the menu has a great selection to accommodated all people ! I strongly recommend a visit we will 100% be going back loved it !
