The Bulls Head is a local hub for people that want to mix with their friends, have a drink from the varied menu at the bar and watch sport. It doesn’t serve food which is available at other locations within a short distance.

Went with family and friends on 3 different occasions in December. The vegetarian pie my friend had was burned , my beef was like boot leather, roasts were burned and other veg was under cooked and rock hard. Because it was Christmastime and people were 'drinking and having a good time seeing their mates' I was actively discouraged from complaining and even tho' my plate and that of others were still full of burned and underdone food..questions weren't asked ...I will never come back for food and comments like ' oh yeah it's a bit hit and miss' don't help..Food doesn't taste better on a piece of slate either..You can't polish a turd..And yes I appreciate your millions of positive reviews...It must've been my unlucky few visits !!

A great pub with some excellent real ales but the Jewel in the Crown is the food. I had a fish chowder which is undoubtedly the best I have had outside the USA, and it beat a few I've had there !!The rump steak was one of the best steaks I have had in ages, succulent, seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection - I asked for rare which usually ends up with me getting medium rare but no, this was rare. It came with homemade onion rings, homemade large fries, tomato, mushrooms, peas and salad. It was superb and a generous portion. It was a Tuesday night and very busy with lots of people dining, which for a pub on a Tuesday says a lot about the way the locals perceive the food. Indeed, every meal I saw go out was both generous in size and extremely appetising in appearance. Prices are very, very reasonable. If I am working anywhere near here in the future I will be back, the value of the food was only eclipsed by the taste. Well done, this was great food at a great price.

Arrived on the bank holiday after a walk over the fields from a neighbouring village. Upon arrival we were greeted in a friendly way by the bar staff, although service was slightly slow. We ordered 3 steak and ale pies, a jacket potato and a burger. After half an hour or possibly slightly longer a waiter appeared to inform us that they had "just realised" they don't have any steak and ale pies. We then ordered a 10oz rump steak, a cottage pie and another burger. Following the further 45 minute wait, the food arrived which was superb, except the jacket potato which was not thoroughly cooked. Though, this was the only thing to let the quality of the food down. However, the plate on which one of the burgers came out on had 2 chips in it and this really should have never been allowed to leave the kitchen by food hygiene standards. But as the title says the food was good but, not worth the 80 minute wait. But the service from the managerial prospective really is terrible and is reflected in the 2/5 rating.

A sudden visit from our eldest daughter led to this meal.As village residents, we had been before but just sitting downstairs in bar area for a pie and chips.Very pleased to be led upstairs into a nice open room.Waitress was absolutely charming.Menu was extensive in variety but not fancy. Some good offers on some nights.A request on a dish for ..only a few chips and more salad please was dealt with exactly. We were warned that as friday night, food would be 30 minutes. It was only about 20 mins in fact. No more. Our waitress brought two plates and another girl attended with the third so we were all served at the same time.A nice touch.Food was excellent. Possibly the home cooked chips were a bit overdone, at this time of year perhaps should have had ordinary chips. We were asked which we wanted.Good supply and choice of condiments/ sauces.Noted there was an extensive gluten free menu which will certainly prompt another visit with a friend who has that problem. All in all an excellent meal, nicely served by charming staff.Had no idea our local pub did such a good job.!

Ate here 28th February. A 45 minute wait for the food which we weren't told about. My parents had fish & chips, which they said they enjoyed. Our roast lamb was awful. Firstly it came out nearly cold. We send it back obviously, this was then reheated & brought out about 5 minutes later. The meat was shocking, rolled up pieces of fat with what seemed to pass for stuffing in the middle. This was no more than scrag end! The vegetables were rock hard, especially the cauliflower. I like it to the bite, but this was ridiculous. Everything else was just tasteless. It was surprising because we went in after Christmas & had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. We were told they had a new chef. Well he certainly wasn't cooking this time. After bringing all of this to the attention of the very nice waitress, we were not charged for our two meals. We wouldn't have paid anyway. So we went home & had two delicious bacon & tomato rolls. We won't be returning anytime soon.

So the main 2 reasons we chose the dine at The Bulls Head were down to the Gluten Free Menu, which has lots of choice (for certain family members) and the fact they allow dogs (in one side of the restaurant).. We had the sharing platters to start and it was delicious, we then had 6 meals (3 GF) and each one was thoroughly enjoyed.. My Mother in Law also had a GF pudding which again was very nice..The members of staff were very helpful and chatty and we will certainly return when we are next in the area x

We visited this pub after glowing reviews from friends and family and therefore had high expectations. On arrival the bar staff were welcoming and asked the waiter to show us to our table. once seated we were given the menus and left. When the waiter returned we ordered drinks however he didn't know the range of beers on offer and asked us to go and look rather than finding out himself. Once our food and drinks were ordered the drinks took about twenty minutes and then the food came soon after that although it wasn't altogether and had a gap between the first meals and second meals of around five minutes. We weren't asked if we wanted any sauces and when we asked for them they never arrived. Also half way through the meal we requested an extra glass of water which didn't arrive until half way through dessert around forty five minutes later. After finishing our meals we weren't asked how are meals were although that is the only thing I couldn't really complain about, the food all five meals were well cooked and presented and tasty. We had to ask for the desert menu and when the deserts arrived it was clear they were mass produced and not homemade. They were tasteless and synthetic. Overall I wouldn't recommend this eatery as the service was shocking and the food was not homemade. Went there the Monday after Christmas in a party of 12 relations some from London etc, when we booked they said they wanted to know what we all wanted in advance because there was 12 of us. That should have been the warning! Our meal was disgusting, it had been plated up earlier then put in the microwave before being served, I personally ate none of mine, when they collected the plates I wasnt asked why I hadnt eaten any of it, they just collected the plates asked if we wanted to see the sweet menu which they never brought although we said yes, Maybe we had a narrow escape not having a sweet. It really was the worst meal I have ever had.

Excellent choice of beer and cider, I opted for the Timothy Taylor Landlord and the Exmoor Stag. We ate upstairs in the restaurant and were the only couple there, the waitress was very attentive an put some music on for us. She then bought the chalkboard menu upstairs for us to order off. There was a decent selection of food and I opted for the prawn cocktail followed by the sirloin steak with bacon and Stilton, and my wife had the lasagne. The steak was the best steak I had tasted in a long while.....it was delicious. My wife will usually leave some of her main course for me, but this time I did not get near it. The landlady (Bev I think) was very friendly and informed us that she had made the lasagne that morning. The meal with desserts and a drink came to £36, which was very reasonable considering the quality of the food.I would highly recommend the Bulls Head to any locals who have not tried it, because you will struggle to get better food and beer for that price anywhere in Leicestershire. We have tried twice thinking the first experience was just a bad day. Just returned from another disappointing meal. I ordered the steak and Guinness pie. It was on the table with in 5 minutes it really was that quick, there was no pastry instead mashed potatoes had been forked onto the top. The potatoes were warm just about acceptable however the pie filling was room temperature the main plate was cold the chips and veg were warm. I sent it back and again within 5 minutes it was back again, I do not know what was used to reheat this dish but it was remarkably quick. It was the same plate with the same veg and chips. The so called pie thing was now hot, but the chips peas and carrots were as cold as the plate. The chips were good, the carrots some hard some soft, the meat in the pie was very well cooked fat and gristle free the gravy it floated in was insipid tasteless mush. The service was as good as ever, the beer excellent atmosphere good friendly and warm. get the food right and this could be a a top ten pub. Sadly I will not be returning to eat here for some time to come.

On a friends recommendation that the pub had new owners plus a new chef, we called in for a lunchtime drink two days before Christmas. Having drank there a few times in the past, we were pleased to find that there is still an excellent selection of Real Ales (changed regularly) along with wines beers and lagers. We were told that the chef had cooked a new recipe 'Meat Pie' and that they were only just 'out of the oven,' so we decided to eat. One new 'Meat Pie' and one Cottage Pie. Both meals were excellent, with fresh vegetables, hand cut chips and a 'boat' of extra gravy. A nice touch, the chef came out to ask if we were happy and he brought us two slices of his warm fresh crusty bread to 'mop up' the extra gravy with. The beer was good, the food good and the staff attentive. The place was spotless and there was an open fire burning away. What more can you ask.We will return. Its a pity we live too far away to make it our local.

The food was fantastic and the price was really good. Not a restaurant but great Pub food served with a little extra. The staff were great and the selection of Ales & Beers was a pleasure to see and sample. Will be going back for sure, wish it was my Local

This used to do excellent Pub Grub. NOT now. I sent my meal back not once ,not twice, but THREE times. Still un-eatable. Mixed Grill was raw, chips still frozen and raw. Beer O K and toilets clean. However no one seemed to care that I had hardly been able to eat my meal. AVOID

Visiting friends, we popped in to the Bulls head for a meal. The staff (and other customers) were extremely friendly and our food was lovely. The fish and chips and the Pork and Abbott ale sausages were both very tasty, well presented and served by a very helpful waitress.

Eaten at the Bull many times over the last year and never disappoints. Great food (especially fish and chips on Friday) and the steak and ale pies. Will be back there next week, great choice of beers also, what more do you want or expect from a local pub

My partner and I are locals and we decided to go for a meal, we have previously eaten here on a number of occasions and we are huge fans the stuffed chicken breast. So we ordered 2 of these, my partner began to eat his chicken as I was eating my chips... My partner then said this tastes weird but he'd already eaten half, I looked over and the chicken was raw all the way through... I then called the waitress over to go tell the 'chef' who is the landlady? She is not a qualified chef. But the waitress then came back out and said 'sorry about that, would you like us to take it off the bill or would you like us to reheat it' I replied with 'are you serious you've just served 2 customers raw chicken and the chef can't even show her face to apologise?' the waitress then offered us a drink (which they charged us for). My partner went off to pay the bill and they tried to charge us for the starters and all the drinks. I still have not had an apology from the landlady which is disappointing. My partner is now ill and I'm very disappointed with the service from the landlady. I wouldn't recommend anyone eating here. It is terrible food, and a shocking response from the so called chef.

food was poor! I ordered steak to be served well done and was presented to me rare! service from the chef was very dissapointing and I was not greeted with a smile, the only good point about the evening was that the waitress was extremely pleasent and polite.

Took my Mum for Sunday dinner on the recommendation of a friend, and it was absolutely lovely. Although we hadn't booked, they found us a table straight away. Service was great, and the food was even better. Will definitely be back, highly recommended. Thanks all.

We have been visiting The Bull's Head for about 18 months now, and it's never disappointed. From the moment you walk in the door, a warm welcome is guaranteed. Bev and her team do a fantastic job of looking after the customers. The food deserves a special mention. This is not your standard pub grub. Everything is cooked from scratch, and is absolutely delicious. To name but a few, the following dishes are stunning: steak and ale pie, fish and chips, fishcakes, lamb shank, ham, egg and chips. I could go on, but there isn't a single dish that was less than stunning.Visit this Leicestershire and you won't be disappointed.

Adequately cooked lunch but nothing special, my dish not presented well, cooked veg with no seasoning, sauce etc... Fish cakes did not see much fish mostly potato. Was not given a choice of bread for baguettes (e.g. White/brown). No sauces were offered to go with the meal. No sparkling water available choice was soda water or lemonade. Very average experience. Best thing about the meal was the chips with the baguette which were home cooked, this is why I gave 2 stars not 1. Very disappointed.

A traditional free house with a wide selection of real ales. A reasonable menu of traditional pub food, always well presented. Can get busy at times so worth booking in advance.

Having recently moved into the area we decided to try the local Chippy as we had heard it was under new management. What a treat. The fish was delicious, chips were thick and chunky and both were freshly cooked while we waited. Will definitely be back for more! There is no phone number for them at the moment but were told this was in hand. No hesitation in recommending. Friendly staff.

Waited to get a table ( place empty) the Waiter sat there on his mobile and ignorant of who walked in. Tables sticky and chairs stained and dirty. Menu had tomato sauce over it. Bananas black and soggy. No decaf tea or coffee available. Awful place
