I absolutely love this place! Staff are very friendly. They did the food for my late husband's funeral, and it was 100% first class

Nice upstairs room for slightly separate group celebration. Congratulations to our waiter who coped very well serving 12 customers single handed, running up a flight of stairs!!! Food tasty. Shame a lot of the deserts were not available due to menu change? Bad planning? Overall enjoyed it.

We love this place, whether it be for just a drink or a meal. They cater for absolutely everyone. The building inside and out is absolutely beautiful, really cosy, feels like home. The staff are extremely friendly, the food is absolutely amazing, never been disappointed. Nice big carpark. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Love a trip to the Dovecote - one of my favourite local(ish) pubs. I visited here fairly regularly and have never had a bad experience. Fresh, tasty food and really good portions! The black and blue steak is a particular favourite.

Outstanding. Staff are amazing. Very friendly and always willing to assist. The food is excellent and great value for money with a wide variety on the menu. We booked a group for my sons 18th birthday and the Staff were extremely helpful. They made the dining area look fabulous with the balloons and banners we'd provided. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable evening and highly recommended. Thank you.

Clean and welcoming, quite a busy place at lunchtime with a great choice on the menu ! so obviously doing things correctly Thank you for fitting us in for the meal without pre booking

It was brilliant. Great service lovely food. Shame some random people let their 2 children skip and run around the restaurant while people were eating and stFf were waiting on tables.

A little more expensive than most restaurants if this genre, but well worth it. I had the rump steak AKA black and blue, topped with peppercorn sauce and Stilton…nom nom nom. Will definitely go back again and again and again.

Really great food, great service but it was really cold in the pub.

Table of five, three of us had the carvery. It has to be the worst carvery we have had. Cauliflower cheese was dry, roast potatoes hard and dried up as was most of the veg including the tiny stuffing balls. My usual is the black & blue steak and it's fantastic but sorry the carvery was so poor.

Visited with family for lunch. Extremely impressed. I am disabled and staff couldn't have been more helpful without making a fuss. Good choice of food and drink. I had sea bream which was cooked perfectly. It also came with samphire, not often seen on menus which was also cooked perfectly. All our meals were really nice. Great front of house and kitchen staff.

Fantastic place great atmosphere

Ordered the tuxford chicken tasted good but chicken slice was very dry and over cooked . Portion of chicken was not a breast just a very thin slice be aware when ordering it is very thin chicken not chicken breast which we expected .this dish was made up of mainly potatoes.

Lovely meal with great friends! It was very busy, so very noisy but it is Christmas! Biscoff Bread & Butter Pudding!!! Yes!!

Visited 21st Nov in the evening. Never been for food before but it was so good. Great choice and they do a Sunday carvery which will certainly be trying. Service was great and although it was busy we felt very well looked after. Had steak and ale pie and couldn’t fault it. Give this place a try.

We had a Christmas lunch for 15 people with pre orders of 2 or 3 courses each. Some of the meals could have done with being a bit hotter but mine was absolutely fantastic and all the meals were really nicely presented. The portion sizes were very generous for all three courses. Overall it was a great experience for a large group which isn't always the case.

I loved the food. Starter, main and pudding were all excellent. Quick service especially considering how busy it was. Only downside was the parking, but suspect I could park outside if needed.

Best Sunday roast in my humble opinion

Came for lunch and had a delicious pigs in blankets n mash. Staff friendly and atmosphere was relaxed. Fair price too.

Had a very enjoyable meal with friends. I had a camembert and bacon topped burger which was very tasty. The service was very good, our waitress was extremely efficient and made us laugh. To top it all off the real ales were well kept to.

Excellent food, not expensive either

This was the second time we had been in the Dovecote for a Sunday lunch, and this time was 100% better than the last time. Service was fast efficient and very friendly. Meat was great (beef), it was late in the day but the veg was plentiful and still nice.

Really really disappointed. I've been here a few times in the past and it was quite nice and catered well for my allergies. However this time, I went to order vegan fries and steak (my allergies limit me massively in what I can have and the allergy menu said these would be ok) only to be told they had had Halloumi in the same fryer they use for gluten free and Vegan items. I found this extremely disappointing and the servers did really well to try and rectify this to the best of their ability but its extremely disappointing and made me slightly uneasy about eating anything from here. Certainly will not be coming back here and I strongly advise that if you have allergies or are vegan, don't bother coming here. I rarely post reviews like this as everyone makes mistakes and I appreciate them being cautious but this is not good enough and made, what should of been a celebration meal, into a meal I found extremely disappointing.

Have been a few times and the service is good. Even when they are busy. Food is fresh. A nice place to go for some good English food. Best to reserve a table as they do get full often.

Tentative staff and accommodating. A lot of the food was great bar the children's pizza - cheese was a little on the plasticy/rubbery side. Kids didn't like it unfortunately

Stopped for Sunday Lunch, they found us a space even though we hadn't booked. Opted for the Sunday carvery, choice of three meats,or a bit of each. Veggie option was tasty too loads of vegetables, all nicely cooked. Cheerful helpful staff.

No gripes with the food. Good selection of veg. VERY long time standing in line for the carvery although the young man was doing his best

The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. (Its probably cheeper than McDonald's now) we sat outside and our 7 year old played with friends he made on the bouncy castle. You have to collect your own cutlery from a desk outside, thats why I gave 4 stars for service, but its really nice there especially when the airshows on and you can watch it from the garden.

Went tonight as a party of 16 we booked a table and they forgot to make up our table and we also pre-ordered our food and we had to wait sooooo long for the food the kids got too tired to eat. The quality of the food is shocking flatbread that was so hard it was like eating a rich tea biscuit, the chips on the Kievs was like the flatbread hard and over cooked the steaks ordered had that much fat on them. Maybe send your chefs to the lime tree for training as they can get it spot on. We will not be returning to the dovecote.

12 of us visited to celebrate a colleague retiring and have a lovely evening. The food was delicious, well presented and nice to see different dishes from the norm. Staff were friendly and really could not have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere was pleasant and the time flew by so much that we didn’t want the night to end. We were served by Jake who was friendly and efficient. The food was amazing as usual and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Always recommend booking a table as this place is busy! Highly recommend the Dovecote, great atmosphere, fantastic staff and tasty food!

You get some proper decent grub here with fantastic service. I just hope they bring back the Wexford steak as this was my absolute favourite nothing else (imparticular the sauces!) compares to it. Parking spaces are quite narrow and can be a little difficult when busy.

Lovely food, good atmosphere, and great activities for children. Good vegetarian food options. At weekends it can be very busy when parking is difficult, as the car parking area is small. Friday is a busy time there.
