Brilliant service by Sam and the team on Wednesday for a family 80th birthday celebration. Very attentive and looked after us perfectly. Food was great and all delivered promptly which was a feat considering there were 17 of us! Thanks to all staff, it was a great evening.

I loved the food. Starter, main and pudding were all excellent. Quick service especially considering how busy it was. Only downside was the parking, but suspect I could park outside if needed.

Oh dear what a disappointment. Our table for 3 adults was booked for 7.30pm sat down and ordered our meals which arrived nearly 1 hour later. My main meal wasn't actually what I ordered so the server sent my meal back to the kitchen, meanwhile we all asked for a steak knife and only 1 steak knife was given and was informed that all the steak knives were in the dishwasher so had to share 1 steak knife between 3 people. I received an apology and a reduction in on our bill which was appreciated but this spoilt the whole dinning experience and afraid there won't be a second visit I appreciate it was a busy Saturday night but did find it a bit chaotic.

The carvery is really good but the roast potatoes let it down feels like they have been frozen and re heated really let’s it down !!!

Meals and service were great. I’m not good with names but the waitress was amazing with my daughter who wasn’t having a good day lol. Food did take a while but we there at a very busy time at peak dinner time so was perfectly reasonable wait times.

The food here is amazing and has the best Sunday carvery by far, I wouldn't choose anywhere else for a carvery. The colleagues are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is great always welcoming and cheerful. Lovely garden with a bouncy castle for children. One of my favourite places.

The standout point of our visit was the excellent staff that were serving at the bar and restaurant. Make no mistake this was some of the best customer service I have had for a long time, Really nice smiley people who were totally customer focused. Indeed, one guy had started tonight as a waiter ( his first night) ( young guy with a beard) and even he displayed excellent customer service facing skills. Well done. We had a lovely time and the food was very good. It’s also a pleasure to enter a nice warm restaurant on a cold night. Really excellent customer service all round. Thanks to Eleanor our waitress too. Visited the venue for Sunday lunch with friends. The venue was very busy but we had a nice spacious table. There was a Sunday carvery which looked very attractive though in the end we all opted for the dine in menus. My spinach and sweet potato pie was very impressive, really flavoursome. All in all a very pleasant visit and would recommend.

Came here at the request of my mother in law, not sure I would go without her. When we arrived I started to walk to the bar and the server said don't worry we will come to you. It was a long time until they did. After that, things we asked for like an extra beer, ketchup etc were all acknowledged but never appeared. I just didn't feel like our custom mattered. I guess they were understaffed but it was a quiet midweek evening.

Great food and have enjoyed the vibe and service, so why not 5 stars? Well it's because it can be tricky to get a table, reserve before you make a journey if it's a weekend or holiday. The online reservation system is good so I think it is worth doing.

Went here for a carvery the other Sunday. It was nice, I'd say maybe not as good as some other local places but overall not bad. Usual choice of tests but servings of it were slightly smaller than other places.

Had a great meal here. I choose the rump steak with black and blue. I don't often order steaks as I prefer my steaks to be cooked "blue". I was convinced by my server that the chef was good and I was pleased by the advice. The steak was cooked to my preference, was well rested and melted in my mouth. It was soo good a group of us went back the next day

We have been here quite a few times it focuses on food but you can just have a drink but seats in the bar area are limeted and can be used for overspill when restaraunt is busy. Food is good but we fi d the menu is a little limeted although they do a winter and summer menu. Overall I recommend.

We visited here just before Christmas and it was very busy. Luckily we managed to find a table. Everything was excellent. The food was tasty, fresh and good value. All the staff provided perfect customer service. I would like to say Issy was outstanding. Thank you.

Visited here early December, table for 10. The food and atmosphere was great but it took 2 hours to be served food. We have visited many times and this is the first time we have had delays, the staff were very apologetic and the manager explained the cause of delay and looked after us. One off bad experience and we will visit again.

A Christmas Eve lunchtime meal for a party of 17. Good on site parking and was greeted by polite gentleman who showed us to our table. I was initially disappointed that the option of the carvery wasn't available but selected the Belly pork option which was very well presented and perfectly cooked. All 17 meals were bought at the same time and were piping hot. Everyone in the party was happy and pleased. Special mention to the staff, there was various who served us throughout at the table and the bar, but they were all very nice, polite and genuinely looked happy unlike some of the places I've visited. Credit to the pub and we'll definitely return in the new year.

Really good service and food was brilliant quality and taste can’t go wrong even the kids meals where made to perfection! We had our family Christmas meal here and really enjoyed it . One of the best tiramisu desserts I’ve had in a long time tbh everything was excellent keep it up guys will come back soon.

This has always been our favourite restaurant when we go out with our family when visiting Leicester. Ten of us went for our Christmas get together last Thursday and my Turkey which came as a misshaped ball was so tough I couldn’t get my knife or fork in. My husbands was the same. The vegetables were overdone, in fact soggy. So very disappointed. I told the waiter who said sorry

I arranged an evening at the Dovecote to celebrate Christmas with my colleagues. The staff were accommodating throughout the booking process and even arranged to keep the bar open until late so that the team could enjoy a few drinks and a catch up after we ate our meal. The food was great considering how busy the pub was. Between us, I think we explored the entire festive fayre menu options and there were no complaints. A top night out, enjoyed by the whole team which ranged in age from 24-65. 16 of us were at the pub 18:00 - 01:00 and the bill was a very reasonable £75 per head. Everyone had anything they wanted to drink, not restricted as you are with some all inclusive drinks packages at larger shared events and the service and atmosphere were top notch. Many thanks to the team at The Dovecote. You guys made it happen. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

We came here for our yearly friends Christmas meal. So so impressed with our meal. It was really busy but the service was great and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Massive shout out to the chefs and all the staff that work there. Highly recommend.

Great experience tonight with my family. Random Sunday night, the team at Dovecote managed to get me in earlier than my original booking and made us feel welcomed and very appreciated. Elle served us extremely well and the Burger she recommended was spot on!! Would definitely return in the new year! Merry Christmas to you all!

Dreadfully disappointing. Even though we were asked if we had any allergies we sat down ordered drinks and then found out there was absolutely nothing on the menu that our son could eat. There should be a message on the website saying if you have an allergy then we can’t cater for you. Not only embarrassing for our son but upsetting for our autistic child and also grandma whose birthday it was. Staff were lovely but sadly the owner has insisted on a blanket ‘nuts and mustard in everything’ to cover him/herself. Would not recommend for anyone with allergies as you are made to feel not at all wanted in their premises. So very sad…

Had a birthday meal last Weds - all very good. I do a few early evenings a week for a drink with friends, again all very good - staff are brilliant and are good in joining in with light hearted banter.

Had lunch here and a catch up with a friend. We had starters and puddings. The apple crumble is just divine! Another time I would choose just the apple crumble and custard with a coffee 😋

Have visited a few times at lunchtime but recently visited Sunday at 5:30. It was absolutely full but we were served fairly quickly all things considered. Highly recommend the venison pie

First time at the Dovecote. Had Sunday carvery the staff were friendly, Elle our server was excellent , good service and atmosphere, choice for carvery was very good although the cheese sauce on the cauliflower and broccoli was to thick and stodgy, overall good Experience

Went for a carvery with a few friends and was very disappointed, quality of the food for the cost was not worth the price paid, twice as much as grove farm and half the quality. Also not enough staff manning the bar took absolutely ages too get a drink. Its a shame as ive heard good thing’s about the rest of the menu

This time of year calls for cosy, wholesome comfort meals and takes me back to the cosiest of all meals at @thedovecotenarborough last year😌🥘. What I ordered: • Salt and Pepper Calamari • Posh Pigs • Lemon Meringue Roulade❤️ The whole meal was so indulgent and the atmosphere of the restaurant was ultimate cosy vibes🥰. This is the perfect spot for a lowkey, “slowed down” date night/family meal/celebration…you name it! I have attached their new Winter Menu (starting today!) and as you can see, all three of these dishes have come back so you can go and try them!. Prices are reasonable and very worth it in my opinion! Let’s support our independent businesses🫶🏻. Overall: 9/10⭐️

Fantastic place. Was picked randomly on Google maps, and never let me down. The staff are excellent very attentive to the customer. Food is very well priced, and has all the right flavours. The main menu is very mixed and offers a bit of everything. Unfortunately the deserts are lacking due to not being made correctly, such as Eton mess sundae not having any meringue, or the chocolate brownie sundae only having 1 little square at the bottom of the glass.

Not been for a while but have always enjoyed coming but today service was really disappointing. Drinks came quick enough but food arrived an hour after we sat down. Also the adults meals arrived 2 or 3 minutes before the children who by now were starving. That wasn't good. However The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful and apologetic. Considering how much we had paid I'm afraid you expect better service.

Came here with 3 babies, 3 high chairs provided and lots of room around the table which was great. Yorkshire pudding was great, really generous serving of meat, gammon not too salty.

We came on a Saturday evening after going to the football during the afternoon. The restaurant was packed out so we expected delays but the staff were amazing and we were quickly served with drinks and the food was also brought to us without having to wait too long either. The meals were excellent and we had such a good evening. Our thanks go to the fantastic staff who worked so hard and with smiles too. We will be returning, hopefully not too long in the future.

Waited an hour for our table although booked. Unable to have the carvery as had run out. Had to ask twice for someone to take our orders. The pie had tough meat in it and some of the meals felt like they had been kept warm for too long. The staff were very pleasant but disorganised.

Unfortunately staff had allowed too many "walk ins". We had booked but waited an hour for our table. The staff were good but overwhelmed and too busy. A long wait for drink and food and we could not have the Carvery which was very disappointing. My beef pie had grissly meat. Couldn't eat it and another had overcooked potatoes. My broccoli spears were hard. Not the experience we have enjoyed in the past.

Ate here yesterday, food and service always good, we had the carvery which had a good selection, can I give a shout out to amy our server, she is a joy to interact with, nothing was too much trouble, overall a lovely lunch

Really enjoyed our meal and time here. Only fault is that no reason at all they don't accept Blue Light card discounts at the weekend? Rather odd...

Dry food, had the steak and ale pie, dry, pretty tasteless , lumpy gravy, my daughter had chicken, dry, rubbery and tasteless , will not return.on a positive the staff were extremely friendly.I couldn’t be bothered to complain but as said won’t return or recommend to anyone.

Avoid. Use to be a great restaurant. Not anymore. We were 10 minutes late and they gave my 8 year old daughter's table to someone else, then offered us a rubbish table near the door. My steak was 90% fat and over cooked, chips were cold and like cardboard. My partner's mixed grill meat was not cooked properly and included a roar sausage. My daughter's pizza was cold and like cardboard. No staff and the male manager is very rude and unhelpful. The old manager was excellent. We have paid nearly £100 for a rubbish meal. Very disappointing. Food: 1/5 | Service: 4/5 |
