The Bulls Head in Derbyshire Dales

We were staying in Monyash and came here for a meal on our final night - as well as popping in for a drink on the preceding two nights. Totally excellent in every respect; very prompt, polite, friendly service, delicious food and very generous portions at, what I thought, was a very fair price. Everyone left very full and very happy.

I have visited The Bulls Head a number of times and the food is always of a high standard. The pub has various rooms for dining, so great for groups. Plenty of parking available in the car park. A real community pub that is at the heart of the village.

Fantastic lunch with great service the sandwiches and ploughman’s were delicious and certainly great value for money. We will definitely return when we are back in the area

Ignore previous ridiculous 3 star review, this place, the food, the staff and atmosphere are all 100%. As shown by all the other reviews. It should not be marked down due to an idiot with a dog on his lap and the cowardly weakness of the writer to challenge him and insist he conform to basic good practice and consideration for other guests! I will certainly be back as will 99% of visitors to this perfect establishment

Fantastic Sunday lunch just a shame next door table had his spaniel on his lap at the table did not seemed bothered about it not very hygienic in a public restaurant, put me of my food, staff did not seem bothered when I said about it .dogs on floor please not sat at table,we have two dogs by the way always on floor I think public heath would not be pleased about the situation,did not stop to see if dog ate of plates

Everything was perfect!!! Great traditional Peak District pub and eatery. Food was amazing!! Hot, tasty and large portions (you can apparently ask for smaller portions). The staff were lovely, efficient and really helpful. The service was quick - very quick!! And to top it off - great value for money!! We won’t be back this way until next year. But we’ll definitely return here!!

This pub is friendly and welcoming, and we enjoyed one of the best meals we have had for a long time. Good menu choices. Prices as expected. Extremely well cooked and presented. Just wish we lived nearer!!

A group of us were staying in the village and made regular use of the pub for food and drink. A lovely old building with some quirky artefacts, such as a stuffed bird! There were regularly changing real ales. There was a good choice of food with an additional specials board and a comprehensive dessert menu. The food was beautifully cooked with huge portions. The staff were amazing - friendly, efficient and always up for a laugh even when really busy. I would love to have this pub near me. I can thoroughly recommend a visit.

Our first visit to The Bulls Head, but it won't be out last. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food, beer and wine were all excellent. The menu is varied and there is also a specials board. It was pretty busy when we arrived at 6 o'clock, but we were able to get a table in the bar. The waitress (I'm really sorry I don't know her name) who served us was really pleasant and friendly. Our overall experience was great, and would thoroughly recommend a visit

We had booked as heard gets busy on a Sunday, we knew we all wanted Sunday lunch, so easy! Wow when it came, 2 lots of 4 veg, all fresh! Yorkshires were fab, roasties were best ever and so much meat, best ever and we are all fussy! 4 desserts all different, all wonderful, all homemade and only £5 each, wow! We all had pints, bill less than £100, can’t complain about that!! All the staff were lovely too, smiley, service was always there not intrusive. A little wait for mains, but so worth it❤️❤️ Would definitely return and recommend❤️❤️

Had a meal here after a lovely walk in Lathkill Dale. Really nice staff, a lovely Pint and a meal that ticked all the boxes. I had three Bangers and Mash, my wife had Cottage Pie. Great food in a very welcoming warm pub. All members of staff we met were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food was superb, very hot, tasty and plenty of it. We will visit again.

Came to this pub as part of a circular pub walk, after a 2.5 hour walk we'd worked up an appetite, ordered the ham salad, it was the best ham salad I have ever had, it was bursting with delicious home cooked ham, egg, coleslaw, potato salad, melon, pineapple, and a bread roll, it was delicious, lovely friendly bar staff and great atmosphere, husbands ham sandwiches and chips are also highly recommended, it won't disappoint 😍

We had dinner at the Bulls head while at the Peak District. I ordered the trio of sausages with mash and my partner ordered the giant yorkie beef meal. The portions for me were humongous whereas my partner felt there wasn’t as much given with his meal, particularly the quality of the meat was poor. Our conclusion was that ordering the specials meal was probably more worth it. The beer and ciders were also good here. The pub itself has a lovely atmosphere and a warm fire to sit by while enjoying the meal!

We visited the Bulls Head on Easter Saturday and sat out in the beer garden whilst our children enjoyed the park. We are always pleased with the range of affordable soft drinks the bulls head sells, as it makes it much more affordable when the children need multiple drinks after getting thirsty in the park. Our meals came out hot and a really good size, the lamb shank was cooked perfectly and our waitress was lovely and attentive. My only criticism would be that if you want veg or salad you now need to order it separately and this isn't made clear on the menu so may catch you out. The bulls head remains our favourite family pub to visit when we are in the area and we will keep coming back. Thank you all at the bulls head

OMG brilliant. Visit to the church followed by lunch. 20 people. Food was brilliant. I had steak and kidney pie and wife had scampi. Both amazing and great chips. Large portion but quality and service were excellent. Sweets were as good as mai course and we were really looked after by the staff. Highly recommended

Couldn’t fault this pub at all, food and staff were excellent. We were advised to book a table at this pub as we wanted to eat out both evenings. It was very good advice as all tables were double booked for different times. Would definitely visit the Bulls Head again!

Many thanks to all the staff at the Bull's Head. 23 of us ate in their restaurant from their main menu. All the food came out together, all hot and all cooked to perfection.

It was a great place to meet friends up from London and staying in the area. The food was good and the staff friendly and helpful. The only small criticism I have is that my food was too hot to eat when it first arrived!

We visited the Bulls Head last night for tea with our spaniel, the pub is full of character and the meal was beautiful. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Would recommend without hesitation.

Another year gone, but The Bull's Head continues to serve excellent food and beer by very friendly and efficient staff. Certainly our pub of choice.

Been here a few times and the food is tasty, but as a previous reviewer said .... WHERE IS THE VEG!! Our plates were half meat and half (frozen) chips. An extra £3.50 if you want a side of veg or a salad garnish. £1.50 for just peas! On top of the price of £16 plus for the dish. So my lambcasserole would be £21.50 with veg. Staff are great but BRING BACK THE VEG!!

Come here regular and travel from Sheffield for the good food. Brought family today, raving about the portions. 2 gammons with potatoes, salmon with mash . Where has all the garnish gone? No salad , vegetables. These were always on your plate and on the side. Was so disappointed having told family members how good it was. Absolutely stunning food... Perfect. I ordered a lamb shank off the special menu and it was absolutely gorgeous. I had a choice of what type of potatos so i chose mashed. The lamb was perfectly tender and oated in a rich, beautiful gravy, also the mashed potatoes were loevly, I would 11/10 recommend.

We had wonderful Thursday night Christmas meals with excellent service from Mia and Becca, who looked after us with genuine care. The Christmas menu is full of delicious surprises. The lamb shank is so tender and nicely served with sauce. Would definitely recommend and come again x

A walk around the high peak trails and roads lead us to have a well earned refreshment break at this lovely friendly establishment. Warm welcoming atmosphere, very friendly staff with knowledge of the local area. Dog friendly with also a great choice of food available . Will go again !!

Visited today for lunch. Seated in the restaurant which was lovely, warm and cosy. The staff were super nice and efficient. Food came promptly and was piping hot and lovely. My grandson had the rack of barbecue ribs (which he said was the best food he's ever had apart from Nanna's 🤣) and when we came to pay we were told they were knocking us some money off as there weren't quite as many ribs as there should have been. This was a nice gesture as we would never have known!! Also desserts to die for. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

My father and I visited the bulls head a couple of days ago after visiting family in Buxton ! I must say I’m surprised it isn’t advertised more from the main road but then maybe it’s because they have a lot of returning customers! We both ordered whitebait to start and it arrived fairly quickly and was really hot and the size of the fish and portion was amazing ! I then had the pork belly with mash in an apple jus, this was absolutely beautiful and literally fell to pieces !the service was excellent and both the waiter and bar man were really friendly ! My dad had scampi and again this was a large portion and he said was lovely ! Lovely meal, good value for money ! The facilities were exceptionally clean ! We will definitely go back

Love this place, now our regular pub, try the chicken and bacon salad, lush. Steak nice and the pizza on Thursday deal is great and baked to perfection. Deserts always a winner with my family .

Me and my partner went to the bus head from dinner about half 7 on a Friday afternoon found a table that didn’t have any reserved signs on only for my partner to go to the bar to get us drinks to hear the female staff behind the bar calling me names and speaking about me in a very unprofessional manner needless to say we left without purchasing a single drink or meal we was made to feel very very un welcome
