The Bull Public House in Broadland

We visited The Bull primarily to use their car park as we had brief business to conduct in Dereham and parking there is tricky, to say the least! Having parked in The Bull's car park, we had lunch there, which was quickly delivered, very nice and extremely good value for money. Loved the decor in the ladies loos! The lady who served us was super-friendly and helpful and it served our purpose perfectly. The added bonus was that whilst in Dereham I lost the cover to my Burberry umbrella and the helpful lady had found it and kept it behind the bar. Other bonus was that they sell Gordons Pink "Zero Alcohol" Gin! If we have to visit our solicitors in Dereham again, we would definitely return to The Bull again.

,,,, went for Sunday lunch we waited over half an hour when it came we had cauliflower cheese with no cauliflower just the sauce no beef sauce to go with the beef the beef was very tough everything on the plate was very sparse as if we would just got the end drags of everything the Yorkshire pudding was crispy on the outside like it had been put in a deep fat fryer very disappointed we complained that had no compensation I think we should be invited back to the pub for another meal it was late when we went in but really they should have said we are finished roast dinners thank you Karen my phone number is 07788278979 I would add appreciate a call

We went out for a Friday night pub meal in The Bull. The place looks nice on the outside, it is equally nice on the inside, albeit it was a bit quiet. We went for a few beers, a bottle of wine, some spectacular American dirty burgers and a few desserts. We had a great time and will be back.

Place was nice and clean and the food,Hunters chicken and Cottage Pie was also excellent. Served by the friendly Liza and will have to go back as the pensioners midweek menu looks good.

We visited last Wednesday at lunchtime. We ordered 3 different meals, each one very poor. Cold chips, scampi that looked like coal and a side salad that was only fit for the bin. Moody waitresses, who didn’t like it when I requested hot chips, I didn’t feel I could address the other issues due to her attitude. I did email Nigel, who I am guessing is the manager, he replied to say he would look into my issues but a week later nothing! His failure to get back to me says it all. Our meals were £12 more expensive than The Romany Rye! My advice, if you want good food at s reasonable price, served by friendly staff then go down the road to Wetherspoons and give this place a miss

My wife and her 2 friends went for lunch on a recommendation. She tells me that the food was tasty but the portions were quite small(she not a big eater) However her real complaint was about the attitude of the man who served them, who was thought to be the landlord. He was very offhand and seemed to appear as if he was doing them a bit favour by being there. She says she will go again and hope the person who served them has changed.

We were in Dereham for a couple of nights and visited all three pubs in the town The Bull was miles ahead of the others Great food a lovely pint and the staff did a great job. The food came out in good time and was nice very tasty and hot Will definitely be going again when back in the area.

Yummy!! What a delicious lunch we had today! Great choice on menu, beautifully presented and tasted beautiful! Had the chilli burger and the mixed grill. Beautiful cuts of meat, cooked to perfection, (all except the sausage which was a bit too well done for my liking). Dessert was equally as yummy with chocolate brownie and ice-cream, and apple pie and custard! Well worth a visit!!

Visited here with my children during the half term break. For a week day lunch time the pub was very busy which obviously is a good sign. There was one table left which we had. We were served very quickly for our drinks order and then food. The food came in a reasonable time frame and looked very very good. We all had a lovely meal and will be looking forward to returning soon. Thank you very much.

We visited the Bull on Sunday 12th December 2021 - We had pre booked our meals from the Christmas Menu! The table service was excellent! The starters arrived within good time, and when the main courses arrived, they were piping hot, with a good selection of vegetables, turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, and plenty of gravy. The atmosphere was really nice and festive!! We are really looking forward to visiting the Bull again next time we are in Dereham. Thank you for a great experience!

A group of us paid £15.95 each for a so-called Christmas lunch. Firstly, it arrived luke- warm, my friend returned his. Secondly it was ridiculously small. Apart from the turkey (which was good) it consisted of a miniscule ball of stuffing, a few mushy roast potatoes and a small dish of boiled carrotts and roast parsnips to feed all three of us! There were NO pigs in blankets, brussels or any other seasonal vegetables! The Christmas pudding was acceptable, but was hugely overpriced at £15.95! We booked based on previous visits, but this was our last visit.

One of the few pubs in Dereham that served food. Had tried on the Sunday but stopped serving by 7pm. All dishes declared as local produce so tried the cottage pie and my wife had the beef lasagne. Both were very nice and quite tasty but veg was slightly undercooked for our liking. Desserts seemed quite expensive so went back to Wetherspoons for them. No bar service available unlike most other pubs.

Visited as a family party of 8 for drinks. The Bull lacks any atmosphere, bar staff are surly and unhelpful, beer is flat and so was the lemonade. I ordered a wine spritzer, appeared to receive just a wine, complained only to be passed to 2 different bar staff who appeared to be arguing amongst themselves. Original barmaid stood at the end of the bar on her phone ignoring me. Husband ordered a bottle of bud as the draft lager was flat and undrinkable, and specifically requested a glass… still waiting for that glass. Would certainly not visit again

Recently moved to the area and thought I would give this place a visit as in town. The building itself is very traditional and pretty however isn't very disabled friendly for that reason. Food was ok nothing special. However the thing that let it down was a very rude staff member. While reading reviews I notice this has been mentioned a few times so clearly wasn't just the server having a bad day. Unfortunately it completely ruined my experience

My mum and myself had been starting to visit the Bull once a week as the food was gorgeous always piping hot, but on our last visit the server was so rude, communication skills were zero it felt like she would have happily thrown our food at us, like she practically did our cutlery. Sadly we have decided to go elsewhere for our lunch

Friendly staff, the curries were tasty, and there's a spacious eating area outside away from the passing traffic. All good so far. What let this pub down for me, was their choice of non alcoholic beers - Beck's Blue. Come on, have you tried it! Not very good and no proper decaffeinated coffee either.

Visited Bull for my friends hen do. Very poor service, no one never knew the answers to the simplest questions, oh let me go and check, oh let me go and ask. Poor wine choice, poor food quality, steak was flat as a pancake and no flavour. Had to ask for everything nothing was available like condiments, napkins. Generally used to much higher quality of service and food so didn’t expect too much and was I right not to... won’t be coming back.

Had lunch with my daughter, usually love the food here but not this time. My basket meal was OK for the price. My daughter ordered a vegetarian mushroom pasta option It looked like microwave pasta etc. Not worth the price or putting on the menu. Look awful. Lovely staff though.....she said it wasnt nice. Not the usual for this lovely pub.

Took the family in for an evening meal. Where to start? The mixed grill was absolutely shocking, fatty bacon, steak not fit for a dog, sausage missing, just absolutely awful. £15 for what I can only describe as shocking. 8 oz sirloin...really. Wafer thin, very well done (ordered medium rare) scrap of beef, again £15 that wasn’t worthy of a fiver. Bangers and mash, sausages that would struggle to be branded cocktail sausages! £4.80 for a pint. Wow, I now know why they were lined up down the street for weatherspoons. Never again will I visit such a poor establishment

We visited The Bull twice for evening meals whilst staying at Yaxham. The food was delicious. The cheddar ploughman’s was just right as a light bite and the poppy seed rolls were very tasty. The ribs were also a big hit and everything was piping hot and served beautifully. There was hand sanitizer, track and trace and way in and out clearly displayed

We've visited this pub three times, within as many weeks. Always a friendly welcome especially from Clare on our first visit. That's one of the reasons why we have returned. Overall, the quality of the food is good, except for one meal. On our first visit I had the lasagne - first class. Second time it was dry and tasteless. The apple pie on the other had is delicious. Plenty of space between the tables and to move around in these cover 19 times.

Nicely decorated. Sports Tv. Food also available. Good selection of drinks. Always looks lovely in the summer woth flowers outside in baskets.

My friend & I had lunch in this delightful pub last week the service was great friendly staff it was quite busy for a Monday in March they do take bookings so may be advisable to book if you can they have a varied menu including special meal deals for Seniors two course at a very competitive price Also basket meals for £3.95 excellent value my friend choose plaice gojons & chips in a basket whist I opted for scampi & chips in a basket we felt it was enough for a light lunch & was absolutely delicious we look forward to our next visit

Nice place to have lunch but roast was not very hot and not enough to be honest thank goodness for the sweet to fill us up!

Met some friends in here for lunch and Christmas get together. Greta location, lovely decorated, carefully in keeping with the old building, which is great to see.Good menu selection, whether you want a big meal or smaller basket menu. Good prices, and great portion sizes, so definitely value for money.Good location in the middle of town.Will be back soon, hopefully get the grandparents there. And not forgetting the friendly staff.

We had a drink & ordered food, there was a decent choice available. However the food was served by a very unpleasant male, nor did it look very appealing or look freshly cooked. Once finished, plates taken away & no questions from the male again. Not a great way to treat new customers, on a quiet Saturday evening. I doubt I’ll re-attend as better customer service available elsewhere in town.

I went with my mother and her friends for Sunday lunch. We hadnt booked and needed a table for 4.The pub was busy but 2 kind customers vacated a larger table so we could sit down.We ordered 2 roast beef, a chicken and mushroom pie and a roast chicken.The food arrived fairly quickly and was well presented.It tasted as good as it looked and was all frsh and home cooked.It was a great Sunday lunch and very reasonably priced.The food was far better than wetherspoons and the staff were very helpful and friendly.I will definitely be returning.Will definitely be returning

Went to Wetherspoons in Dereham and after making three different choices of main course only to find they had run out or their grill was out of action. Gave up and decided to try The Bull. So pleased I did. Best scampi and chips I’ve had in ages. Also mushy peas were delicious. My husband had a steak which he said was perfect. Don’t know how they do it for the money. I know where I’ll be going next time. Thumbs up for The Bull.

Had a lovely meal here, well looked after, as I have a wheat and gluten allergy the chef and staff were very helpful in helping me choose my meal. Took the whole family back for a meal they all loved it. Have been back a few times, cant fault the place. Have now made this our local.All very friendly and made welcome.Thank you.

8oz rump steak cooked perfectly with many accompaniments and at almost half the price compared to another family hotel/restaurant just 5 mins walk away. Plus well trained, friendly staff, I will return here.

Visited on Bank Holiday Sunday for a few drinks with the Mrs and actually ended up staying for a few hours such good was the atmosphere, the staff and the drink selection. Food was great, lots of choice and an absolute bargain. Beer garden out back is spot on too. Very good for a little pub in a little town. Cheers!

Met up with friends on bank holiday weekend, there were 10 of us drinking in the garden for couple of hours, when we all decided we felt peckish... however when we tried to order food just after 7 we were told that food stopped at 7pm...really on a bank holiday weekend?? Needless to say that we all drank up and moved on! Also the ladies toilets were in a right state, one of the ladies in our group mentioned this to the bar staff, but nothing was done about it!

Lovely staff and great service. Sunday lunch. Enu includes traditional roast dinner and many other options. We had vegetarian but roast, omelette and chips, scampi and chips and toasted halloumi sandwiches and salad. All very good and reasonably priced too.

Beautiful food and great portions. Cant understand previous reviews about it being basic and lack of attentive staff, this is clearly a pub not 5 star dining! However pub food done well, will be visiting again when in the area.

This is not a memorable place for me, it was very basic and the girl that served us was not attentive, I had to collect our own cutlery as well. .. the meals were very basic. Wouldn’t go there again.

Good choice of menu, very reasonable prices and extremely impressed with the children’s menu (even though we didn’t have chicken with us on this visit)

We asked The Bull if they could lay on a spread of good quality food as refreshments after my mother's funeral. Well, the staff excelled themselves. They set part of the pub area specifically for us, the food was superb and exactly as we had requested. One of the lads behind the bar dedicated his time to sort out our drinks as we arrived. A massive THANK YOU to The Bull. I would recommend The Bull as reasonably priced and quality food in a nice environment.

The guy behind the bar was on his own but was awesome , he owned that bar , it was a pleasure to watch , having worked in bars all my life , nobody was left waiting !! Shame not everyone has his work ethic

We had just arrived in Dereham and needed lunch. The Bull was the first place we came to, so in we go. Very good menu. We has two fish finger sandwiches and a plate of chips. Wow the food was amazing. The bar staff were very good. Very good value.

Excellent atmosphere, food is 100% amazing. Congratulations to the new chef! Staff very friendly. Highly recommend. In town and there is a car paring too.

We visited this pub for a family meal,one member of our family has a severe NUT allergy.

Booked the Bull for a late festive lunch as it was the time I had my daughters over that period. We had the pre ordered festive menu which to be honest tasted like Christmas Day lunch reheated it was a big let down with a lot of it inedible. I did feel sorry for the bar and waiting staff as I couldn’t fault them, they did their utmost to rectify things. Also to the pubs credit they couldn’t apologise enough and knocked a hefty amount off the bill. I understand also that the pub had just changed management just before Christmas.

Great choice of ales and food. A little on the expensive side for the quantity and not many tables to eat at

The pub has a nice , central location with a big garden on the back side. The staff is friendly . Nice selection of beers and foods.

The Bull is a very friendly pub with excellent food and the staff will do whatever they can to give you a good time. Hannah has been our main waitress on the 3 occasions that we have been there and went out of her way to give us excellent service.

Nipped in when shopping in dereham for some food. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced. Free juice for children which is a fab idea, pleasant staff. The only reason it hasn’t got 5 stars is the children’s menu didn’t have much choice but apart from that it’s a lovely place

The Bull offers pretty standard pub/steak house type food, but it is done well and is a good place for families. Inexpensive to average prices for what you get.

while visiting dereham over night we wer actually looking for a take away when we walked past this pub. From tje otside it looked inviting warm and cosy.

Haven’t been here for a while and we decided whilst out shopping to have some lunch so popped in Saturday. Staff very friendly and menu was very reasonably priced. We decided to go for the ‘lunch’ special and both had 2 open sandwiches, side and a drink for £6.95 each. Both meals were lovely. Will definitely be going again.

Never been here before. Superb pub. Free drinks for my kids. Children's meals colourful with a good mix of healthy and naughty food on the plate. Staff were fantastic. Really friendly. Superb pub. Will definitely be coming back.

Delicious Burgers/Sausages in a brioche bun at today's Carnival, from the Team at The Bull, which is also a great place to go and eat. Blues Festival went down a treat there this year. Great team with Community Spirit

Lovely cosy and comfortable indoors and out. Tv and pool table outdoors, perfect for football season. Always different events going on! Very friendly staff and great chefs making great food!

I have visited The Bull for food and drinks on many occasions and have never been disappointed. Good food, good beer and excellent value.

Enjoyed a early evening meal with friends. They have updated the menu and I love the small plates section. I was not disappointed with my chicken tikka skewers and cod goujons. The skewers came presented as almost a meal size with rice and naan , it was delicious. The baked Camembert is also a good sized small plate. Burgers were the choice of the rest of the friends and they are large with good toppings and sides.

Eaten a few times and the food ia always fantastic quality tates amazing. Staff always friendly and helpful

Popped in good buzz. Went back for food good service good food hot tasty minimum wait. Def try. Only minus the steak fatty. For me not an issue. But some may not like. But don't let put you off good value and comfortable place. I did mention said problem to staff. So maybe you get better steak.

I visited this Green King pub and having signed up to the green King app saw that as there was a football game on tv, Derby v Fulham then I would get 10% discount off of my pint of San Miguel. I went to pay and showed my discount card only to be told 'no season ticket tonight' why advertise it on your app and then say no. Maybe your barmaid with the short blonde hair and glasses was not told but hey that's not my fault. One lost customer !

Asked for a mozzarella, and tomatoes salad. Salad was manky no mozzarella or croutons so I sent it back it came back with mozzarella but it was still the same manky salad no croutons, my partner had fish and chips with a side order of bread and butter that didn't turn up. And the other member of our party had lasanga which very crispy garlic bread. Disappoint as we usually enjoy our food there, we got a refund on the salad and the bread that didn't turn up. I think the chef must have been different as we came on at a later time than normal. So unfortunate as we were looking forward to our meal there.

My family and I popped to The Bull for a late lunch. There was 5 of us so was surprised we found a table at the end of a lunchtime on a Saturday. I’m always a little worried about unknown pubs because, let’s be honest it can be hit and miss regarding the food. I have to say I was very happy with my meal. The food was reasonably priced and it was lovely. I had the pulled pork burrito, the portion size was big and the food was really tasty. There was a good selection for the kids; the real challenge for all of us was narrowing down the menu and making a decision! The menu had a large variety of food which is also a bonus, there was much more than your standard burger or fish and chips. I would definitely recommend.

Visited for a friends birthday breakfast - clean and welcoming, tasty breakfast which was fantastic value and lovely staff - Jodie served us and couldn’t have been nicer. Well done everyone we will be back for afternoon tea soon!!

Looking forward to an evening meal out with my husband, BUT this is the second time we have left the premises due to a small group of people, possibly three or four that are laughing, talking loudly and using foul language.. the first time we had family with us. At 7.00pm I don’t want this type of behaviour. People being happy yes, but not this. Sorry Greene King but this has let the side down in Dereham yet again, as we do enjoy your food in the appropriate atmosphere.

Lovely well priced food in nice surroundings, good service and friendly staff. All meals received were tasty and generously portioned. Nice touches like free unlimited squash for kiddies to help themselves and reduced price drinks with certain meals. Will certainly return, ideal for families.

Go to The Bull regularly for food as it never disappoints. Lovely pub, attentive, friendly staff, clean facilities, nice up to date decor.

Popped in for food and a drink before going to the cinema. Always consistent with good food, drinks and value for money. Service is always quick and friendly and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming. TV available for sporting events or find a quiet corner for a chat. Always happy to recommend.

What an amazing Christmas meal, all home cooked food, absolutely delicious! Staff are so friendly and helpful, made our first Christmas Day out and will definitely be going back again 🎄🍷🎁🍾

Had lunch here with family, one member on a restricted diet, thought this might pose a problem, but fortunately not. Had a really good lunch, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Only criticism is that ordered a salad with no dressing but had been dressed when served but was changed with no problem. Would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced meal.

Very welcoming staff with a warm atmosphere. Being a Monday it was quiet but with a regular turnover. We went for the lunch club meal and as a family of 3 we had food and drinks for under £20.00. Food was cooked well and was prompt just nice pub grub

I visit every 3 months,as I work in the area,travelling from Devon. The staff are always friendly, and the food is very good. I wouldn't visit any other place in the area.

A great pub with lots of atmosphere. We have been many many times and always enjoy what ever day or time we visit. Family friendly which is a bonus. The landlady is always particularly helpful and happy to chat.

Best place in town. Great food. Great drinks. Amazing atmosphere and friendly staff! You couldn’t ask for anything else, they also hold live music every now and then and have a big beer garden. Would always recommend

Having been to The Bull on numerous occasions I have always found the staff to be very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I myself have several intolerances, to which they always accommodate!The food is always enjoyable, freshly cooked and tastes lovely.
