The Bull in Harborough

Nice pub garden was good for the kids, food was mediocre at best, was ok just not very hot arrived lukewarm very disappointing

We have eaten here a few times now. Don’t wait too long for food (20 mins or so). Restaurant really hot which killed my appetite. I ordered a black and blue burger and fries, it was ok chips a bit cold. I ate about 1/3 - Said we were going outside but were told we had to pay our bill beforehand which we did. Not sure why we couldn’t pay at the end of the meal.

first time at the bull will not be our last. Service and staff were first class and the food was out of this world. Have travelled the world and ate in many different places. The bull for the price is close to the top for value for money. Well done the bull and it's staff carry on doing the good work you do and good luck for the future

This is our preferred local in the village. However... The summer menu is very repetitive. Service is poor outside - tables uncleared - waiter didn't take our starter plates away when he brought the mains. Had to wait nearly five minutes for cutlery and condiments. No water in the beer barrel for the dog (third week in a row). So many more minor criticisms... too many to mention! These might seem petty quibbles, but they spoil what should have been a lovely lunch. Having been a pub landlord and a catering manager for many years, it's not what I would call acceptable. Sorry, The Bull... it's a 'no' from me. 😧

Visited for Sunday carvery. The meal, the service and the environment were all truly exceptional. Every ingredient was delicious and our waitress Kate was friendly and attentive. Highly recommended, we hope to return soon.

Booked a very large table of 21 quests to celebrate my wife’s birthday, Sent the complete food order through 3 days before so we could all eat at the same time, and all I can say is WOW ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, food all came out at the same time and outstanding quality, (I take my hat off to the chef) Staff were unbelievable, very friendly, very professional and when a fue of our guests decided they wanted a starter to it was no issues and quickly done All in all an amazing eating experience and looking so forward to our return visits, Thank you so much all at the BULL OF BROUGHTON you gave us a fantastic night, the owner and the staff should be very proud of being part of a fantastic team See you again soon

Top end for pub food. Very nice, although quite a few dishes were ‘off’ the menu. Staff gaming around when not busy, probably because so young. A nice meal and will probably return

We visited for our Christmas Day lunch and we couldn’t of been more pleased with the afternoon we had. The food was absolutely amazing - sometimes it’s a little disappointing eating out Christmas Day - but this was absolutely beautiful food, cooked to perfection. The highlight being the turkey, roast potatoes & cauliflower cheese! Also the extra gravy provided without having to ask for it, is the perfect touch! The service was absolutely impeccable, frequent & attentive service without being invasive. The staff giving up their afternoon to serve us couldn’t have been happier or more willing to help. Nothing was too much to ask. We have dined here numerous times before and will always continue to visit. But I couldn’t let this visit pass without writing a well deserved 5* review. Thank you to all of the team at The Bull! (The only TINY thing was the pigs in blankets were not to our taste, so maybe some different ones, cooked extra crispy next year would be fabulous 😉)

We came here with friends and we all had different food. It was a busy night as it was coming up for Christmas but all of our food was great. It was all hot and nicely cooked. The Waiter was very attentive and friendly. This all made a very enjoyable evening. We will be back!

The pub is very comfortable and the staff are great, very attentive. I went with a friend for Christmas Festive lunch. We pre-ordered and got off to a good start with tempura prawns, very good. Main course not so good my friend ordered sea bass and I ordered turkey, the sea bass was fine but the turkey was so overcooked and hard, was unable to cut it let alone eat it! Vegetables came, far too many traditional roast veg and Brussels sprouts but, weirdly, they were covered in garlic butter!! They were all returned to be thrown away, so wasteful. Will go again but not for a set menu.

Great atmosphere and excellent service. The Mixed grille however was served on a cold plate with cold onion rings. The rest of the meal was just warm. The 5 oz steak was missing and never arrived but the cold onion rings were eventually replaced. What should have been a pleasant evening meal turned out to be a big disappointment.

Had a Sunday carvery here and it was lovely. Staff were great and atmosphere really nice. Would recommend and be back again soon.

We visit, Dovecote, Waterside and The Bull. Regularly.Tonight it was the Bull.The main course was brilliant. I am Coeliac and you have always catered for me well. So when I ask for my menu for puddings. Lemon meringue roulade and make your own sundae!!,. It’s winter and I don’t want ice cream. We are going to the Dovecote(my favourite)on 28thOct ,1st Nov, 20th Nov 1 pudding!!! “Normal diet 8 puddings. You had 5 gf puddings in the summer now 1. Will this change. More than Very disappointed. First time we’ve visited this local restaurant / pub and must say it was superb. Service, atmosphere and food were excellent. Starters were piping hot, mains were excellent. I opted for the holy guacamole burger. The girls also has sweets which were good. On top of that. A massive shout out to Kate for her superb service and sense of humour. The coffee they have from St Martins coffeehouse is also excellent. We shall definitely be returning.

My partner and I come here often, everytime we like to try a different dish and we are never disappointed but today I tried the Tuxford chicken! Something a little out my comfort zone but wow! It was incredible. Staff are always pleasant to which is a bonus! Thanks all

We eat here a lot but today, my wife’s birthday, a family celebration, is was very dissatisfied with the food quality. I brought this to the attention of the staff who were very good but would have expected a management response. Very poorly cooked and prepared food. Hugely disappointed

We visit the Bull regularly for mid week lunches and Sunday lunch. We are always very impressed with the welcome, professionalism and friendliness of all the staff. We have always enjoyed our meals, the staff always check that everything is ok with the meals at exactly the right time. We have never had a problem with any of our meals but are sure if we did they would remedy it without an issue (unlike other establishments we have reviewed!). We particularly enjoy the Wexford Chicken,the Atlantic Cod, the filled Yorkshire Pudding and of course the wonderful carvery - good quality meats and great to have roast lamb as a choice. We look forward to many more visits, so glad we live locally.

Food was lovely but inside out Kiev needs to be on larger plate as made salad warm with hot food on top. Service left a great deal to be desired. Have been a number of times before it was not busy tonight so with the amount of staff the fact we constantly had to look for someone for another drink to order dessert and even to pay. Had to go up to bar in the end only to see at least half a dozen just sat round a table filling salt and pepper pots. Very disappointed as was one of my favourite date places.

Food was OK, that's being generous, uninspiring presentation and small portions, but service was really lacking. Had to go searching for an initial drink. Then rushed into ordering food. Loved having to wait for two plates to arrive too, after a bit of a search. After that we had a succession of fingers in food, spirits and mixers presented in a pint glass, hands on glass rim, no cutlery until after a 5 minute wait, again comprehensively manhandled. Generally felt there was an attitude from the staff. As if everything was our fault. Not a place to return to.

There were 3 of us my dad and 2 daughters .My dad in a wheelchair and the staff made him feel at home ,we all loved The Bull.The staff were Amazing so friendly,welcoming and went the extra mile to look after us .The food was lovely and hot, compliments to the chefs,big portions and lovely fresh salad.From the time we walk in to the time we walked out we had a first class experience so thank you everybody that made that happen to The bull team, thank you my dad was very happy and that made us very happy .Lovely clean restaurant but you need to book because its very popular better than any other pubs in the area,Amazing outside area for people to sit with their dogs ( water for the dogs provided).Big carpark .

Lovely pub/restaurant, very popular with the locals and those further afield. Very genuinely helpful staff who were very attentive to my father who is wheelchair bound. Modern menu with pub classics. Lovely ambience, clean and thoughtf decor. Carvery looked fabulous with an option of Lamb as well as the usual beef, turkey and pork. Spacious carpark and very pleasant surroundings for eating alfresco. Not as cheap as other local eateries, but you get what you pay for £45.00 for 3 main lunches and 3 soft drinks. Portion sizes were great too. It was nice to have our order taken sat at the table for both drinks and meals.

Yet again,not disappointed,everything cooked to perfection! Mixed grill,steaks and Atlantic cod.Our friends enjoyed their steaks and my husband polished off his mixed grill .My fish was beautifully cooked and with the lightest if batters! We have been to The Bull several times and it has always been pretty good, standard village pub grub. Today teh service was painfully slow and while those that had a roast were happy, the burger, pizza and calzone (all £14.95!!!!) were poor.
