Came away lubricated but despite being relatively busy the pub lacked any atmos

Went for lunch with my mum and her dog staff were so lovely and made a big fuss of my mums dog even brought water and treats over for him , the food came out quick and was really lovely this was my first time her but will definitely be back

What a great place to have lunch with family and friends. Food is good, service needs no improvement and the atmosphere is family cozy. There’s darts and pool upstairs and parking to the back, check this place out!

Didn't eat but a very nice pub.

Upstairs has a pool table and dart board, with a lot more seating and there are many live matches played. the beer is always good and service is always pleasant. On a busy lunch rush food can be a little longer but shows alot of people like the place

We stopped here as it was conveniently just off the M4 on our route home back to Essex. As it was a Sunday afternoon we pre-booked a table but got stuck in traffic, we phoned ahead and they were absolutely fine and said they would hold our table until we arrived. The staff are really friendly and the food was really good and more than fairly priced. Would 100% recommend and will stop again if we're ever coming past.

When asked where we could have a good meal ... they adviced The Bull ... the food was worth more stars than we can give. Staff was great and friendly. As said when we left, would return when passing through Theale again.

Didn't eat just went for a drink with friends, decent range if beers and bar snacks, even sell monster munch! Nice decor will go back.

Good meals at lunchtime and evenings. Always friendly staff and good beer, if you want something other than Lager. If busy they have a sister pub up the road called the Crown, which has loads of outside space.

There was a wait to order food at the bar but no more than you would expect on at lunchtime on a sunny Friday. The staff let us know that the kitchen was busy and that there would be a delay on any food order before we ordered. The wait for the food was about the length of time that we were advised. The food was well presented and very tasty.

Very friendly pub, polite staff, good food and service. We travelled there to meet family and this was halfway between our homes. Will definitely go back if in the area.

We can't stay away from this place. I usually only pick a couple of go to foods when I eat out but here I am working my way through the menu as its all good food. Lovely place

My initial review was glitched by bad connection so I am redoing it. Working close to Theale this is our local for lunch and evening meals when we are able. Good food and beer and sometime cricket on the TV. Parking can be an issue so be careful if you are in the car.

Pub in the heart of theale. With a selection on wines,spirits and beers and ales on tap. The bull is right next to a bus stop and not far from a local train station.

The ice for the cider was separate.. brilliant

Good solid pub. Food is of good quality and quantity. A number of beers on tap and a good selection of wines. It has a few TV screens showing sport but volume levels are not intrusive. Parking limited but there's a public carpark in a two minute walk which is free in the evenings anyway and all day Sunday.

Found this pub by accident but what a great find The staff couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly and the Sunday meal was delicious Highly recommended

A nice find. Light, airy interior, with good service, a nice range of beers, and some very good food at decent prices. Seven of us had a variety of drinks and meals and everyone enjoyed what they had. One to visit again

It's an OK but not happy with the fact that a small snack is not allowed into the premises i was going to point out the fact that my partner has a medical condition where he needs to eat a snack to keep his sugar levels up to stop him from having a fit. The way that they spoke to use was unacceptable saying they it was not on. Never going back again. In not trying to troll

Really good quality pub grub... Friendly welcoming team... Good beer, comfortable surroundings and easy free parking. What more can you possibly want. :-) P.S. The lamb chops were awesome... Thick cut cooked to perfection ( pink & juicy ) served with a minted jus / gravy. Writing this makes me realise that I clearly need another visit !

Excellent ale in a traditional English ale house

Been here a number of times. It offers a great range of beers and there's now a covered beer garden. It's not the cheapest in the village, but it makes up for it with games room and bar upstairs. The food has always been good too.

First class fish and chips. Busy for a Thursday night. Parking can be a real challenge particularly when less well meaning folk block you in. Otherwise a fantastic meal and we will definitely visit again.

First time visiting to kill some time while waiting for a bus to reading ( the bus stop is right outside). Immaculately presented oldie worlde corner pub with a nice selection of beers & lagers though light on independent ales. Brisk friendly service. Didn't eat here but it's a roomy venue and lots of people were and food looked good enough that I would come back to check it out. Outside tables and benches looked ideal for summer beers... May well bump this rating to a 5 when I come back. First impression: very good.

Loved this place. Went for lunch. Not too busy. Attentive staff and scrummy food as usual.

Very busy, staff coped well. I had cold peas and three out of four people had the fish and chips. Was expecting the fish batter to be crispy, it wasn't. A nice experience, might not have the fish again. Sorry

First time visiting but live within 30 minutes walk We had white bait and perfectly cooked lamb shank and desserts. Really friendly and organised A refreshing change. Will return.

Went for Sunday lunch. Due to health issues our party of four had to isolate and sit outside, it was a cold wet January day, but the staff were so helpful. They brought out cushions and blankets and an outside heater.. The food was excellent - lovely roast dinners and great puddings which we all enjoyed. Thank you! The inside area looked lovely- we look forward to returning and eating inside!

8 of us went to this restaurant today. It was absolutely flawless, the staff were very friendly and helpful (we had a tall man, who's name I can't remember), the food was delicious and catered to all including the children. The facilities were very clean and there was a very calm and welcoming environment. Highly recommend. We're going to make this our regular meeting place.

A Thursday evening and a table for two with my wife. No booking needed for this time. We both had starters and mains but unfortunately no room for puds. A very relaxing environmemnt and the service was exemplary. The drinks and food were served very promptly and with a smile. The server was very engaging and most helpful in describing the specials - very customer focused. Music was "respectful" and did not swamp our conversation. Parking was easy but limited, but we arrived early so had a choice of spots. We both had a lovely time and I have no hestitation whatsoever in recommending the Bull at Theale. I also understand that they are Dog Friendly.

Still the best pub in village for food, very good quality however mistakes are still sometimes made. I was there for a sunday lunch a couple of days ago. I had Roast Turkey Christmas dinner, it was good though unfortunately marred by carrots that were rock hard and very undercooked. Im a pretty good cook myself so my sugar pea pods were also a bit more crunchy than i like, however this is personal choice. BUT Undercooked carrots are not.

Stopped for a sunday meal. Had the beef sunday roast.. Top class.. good price.. staff were amazing so polite and helpful treated a old local boy as if he lived there.. Great family pub with top staff to match.
