Was recommended this pub by a friend. Really looking forward to a pub lunch on a Sunday afternoon.. Completely disgraced and disappointed on arriving. Utterly disgraced by the TLC on the sofa chairs by the window ( where we sat).. sofa covers ripped seeing yellow polyestiring in seats fraying.. 😕 Friend was told pub was not doing food?? Any reason for a Sunday afternoon, could chefs be having a day off.. Very very disappointed we both were, summing up a few gents in the restaurant area having beers. Bar lady serving drinks watched me and my friend exit the pub seemingly un-concerned… Glad I’m not a local definitely will not be returning.

That barmaid Sarah is unbelievable what a barmaid, she has w lot of respect for ppl and she's kind and I recommend ppl going there

Visited the bull this afternoon can’t praise it enough got to shout out the chef vernon food was delicious 😋 and the attention to detail was spot on Defo be back 👍🏽

Staff member did not note downmeal selection and I am sure I was charged extra for order 3 courses for my dad and desert was not supplied even though I had asked for it twice and mistake was not rectified

We visited this pub because our dog was allowed in the bar. Now I don't know why I haven't been before. The staff were extremely friendly but also professional. We were delighted with the service we received and will certainly recommend the pub to our friends. In particular I would like to praise Tanisha and David.

We have visited the pub many times recently for different reasons, food is best when when Tyler is working in the kitchen. He has even served the food to our table and was helpful and friendly. It’s a great place for families young and old and often has live music, football and other sports events shown on tv. The Manager Vicki is very accommodating and Friendly she has allowed us to hold a charity event at the pub and even sorted the music for us.

We've popped in a few times and the atmosphere in here is always so lovely. The team and management who i have met so far are always so friendly & welcoming and we always have a good chat, as a fellow brummy we have a lot in common.

Great pub, friendly staff and customers. Good for watching football as well. The food was nice too. We'll be back. Thank you.

4th visit, really let down by the quality of the food. Maybe a new chef? Asked how meals were, explained they were over cooked, and the response “I’ll let chef know” no offer of re cooking order, or discount. Not even a come back next time and we’ll improve. Think we’ll stick to one of the town centre offerings.

After my last review, which I said it was worth a second visit. This time for a bite to eat. I had burger which was very pleasant, overall the food for all our group was cooked to our liking, hot and served promptly. All in a good experience. Well done Team Bull (the young girl on the bar was a credit to you)

I was on my own and just drinking but was not ignored by the staff, Silvia and Lauren were spot on refreshing my glass in a moment.

Wow!! Wow!! Wow!!Our first time in Bedford and we decided to pop into this nice looking place for lunch as we were driving through.. what an experience.. FANTASTIC food, beautifully presented, and so well priced!! The Staff go out of their way AND with a smile, and to top it all, the place is stunning!I had the Steak Saver and family had the Lasagne and Cajun Pasta.. We will definitely be back when we visit the area again.. keep it up guys! Awesome place! A must!

Live football, friendly bar staff, prompt service and a modern setting. Last visited years ago and it was a dive, now a nice place for food / drink. Whilst we didn’t eat, we only heard good things from those eating around us. Worth a second visit.

This pub is near to the Oasis Pool and very convenient for a lunchtime meal. It serves typical unpretentious pub grub but always piping hot and excellent value. Drinks are a reasonable price too. Since the refurbishment it is very pleasantly decorated in bright colours and depending upon the time of day, it can be quiet. Staff have changed over the years but they are always pleasant.

I ate here with my wife, both children, son in law and Grandchild for lunch.The food was reasonably priced and the food was cooked to perfection. Wife ordered a rare steak and it was rare!!! £7.29 for a 5 oz steak, chips and 2 eggs!!!! What more do you want. This place is excellent do your self a favor and go. We will be back!!!

Amazing service from Lauren considering we’re fussy eaters and wanted to change a lot! The food come out quick, hot and was easily one of the best burgers we’ve ever had thanks to Tyler! Made to feel very welcome and would definitely recommend and will be returning

Last minute afternoon stop for a drink and some food. Greeted and served by friendly staff. Plenty of options on the menu and prices very fair. Food was great and we will definitely be coming back.

I've given my parents' local a wide berth for a year or two now - fed up with the management caring very little and the clientele leaving a lot to be desired. Two or three people have mentioned a change for the better in the last few weeks so I thought I'd give it another try - they weren't wrong! The Bull is under new management and the new manager is a breath of fresh air. The regulars told me any customers behaving undesirably are asked to leave when they cross the line of acceptable behaviour and the management actually works behind the bar and, shock, talks to people! As a result, they have their pub back and the warm atmosphere is returning. Food wise, my parents, my husband, my little girl and I had an early dinner. My mum has a small appetite so opted for the seniors menu (two courses for just under a fiver!) and had ham, eggs and chips and ice cream to follow. My dad and I ate from the two for £9.99 selection (he had the all day breakfast and I had the scampi), my fella had a double cheese and bacon burger (which looked amazing and tasted really good) and my daughter fish fingers with chips and beans from the kids menu (a generous portion, actually cooked nicely and not swimming in oil). Her meal was only £3.50 with a Capri Sun included. The food arrived after twenty mins or so and was fresh and piping hot. It's not fine dining but for the prices, it's really good value. Our food bill came to around £25 for five of us!!!! Beer was cold and tasty too ;) The staff (one of whom was the new manager) were friendly and attentive - they actually seemed to care if we were happy and had what we needed. Imagine! Yes, this pub has had its problems but there seems to have been some significant staff changes and for the better. Long may it continue and we'll definitely be back!

Visted for the 1st time in months.... had a meal was nice and reasonable. My friend later that day ordered food.... unfortunately his burger had no salad and received french fries rather than the chunky chips we had earlier. His chicken burger was over cooked with his french fries that were extremely crunchy. He mentioned to a staff member who was not on duty i believe as they were drinking with customers. She seemed to not care and just explained they had no salad so tough luck. She arranged fir extra cucumber and tomatoe to come out but food was cold. Half the meal was returned gor a refund which abruptly was refused and 1x cheapest beer given as compensation. The beer was still owed anyway as friend paid £1 anyway for upgrade but had not collected. Will not return until change of staff as staff member also commented about poor previous management and stated they were gay which had no relation to situation. General sraff seemed helpful and believe they would have handled situation without drunk managment...

I visited this pub with my friends only to be spoken to by the bar staff of the name Faye in the most outrageous way iv ever been spoken to, she was drinking while working & not just drinking one or two like she was drunk and I could not believe how rude, one of my friends had ordered food for it to come and be stale, rock hard and had been sitting there for god knows how long so a complaint was made to "Faye" where she literally wouldn't even let me speak before saying I hope you realise your not getting a refund u can have a pint and that's it. There was 2 bites taken out of this burger and like 4 chips eaten and she was telling me no! I was gobsmacked then only for me to be have a fag outside for her to come out and try and light her cigarette when her lighter wasn't working, she then took the cigarette out of mouth without by the way even knowing who I am just took it out of my mouth and tried to lighter her cigarette off it when I then went to ask her what she thought she was doing and get my fag she pushed me out of the way and still wasn't giving me it while she was laughing I then snatched it out of her hand with right it was my cigarette and iv only ever been here once before and would never expect to be spoken or treated like this I work in the pub trade myself and I was gobsmacked of how drunk she was yet working although she was letting the other bar staff do most of the work while sitting with a group of men I will be taking this further and she is not an asset to that team she's a disgrace!

Very disappointing experience today 23/07/2017. Ordered our food five minutes later were told sorry no fish available. One person serving both bar and food as other member of staff had gone to buy MILK. Coffee is on the menu why no milk. Meal over we ordered 3 Ice cream desserts but ended up cancelling after 35 minutes.Was a good place to eat but over the last few months has gone downhill.

Sunday lunch was an unforgetable experience.We waited 30 mins for our large roast dinner. The woman (probably publican) brought our plates to us. I could see no steam or heat and touched my food which was short of luke warm, as was my husband's. We mentioned this to her and with attitude the blonde woman said 'here, touch your plate underneath it is red hot'. She argued the toss with both of us and flounced off with our plates to heat them.When she brought them back she banged them on the table and flounced off.The beef was horrible and was a rubbery processed blob of nothingness and chicken bone dry. Seasonal veg looked like tinned carrots and peas, roast potatoes discusting and processed mash potato.I wish to complain about this pub to save anyone else wasting £25 and experiencing the shoddy unacceptable table service which we received.If you want a cheap meal and are afraid to complain about it and the service do not dine here.

The food and the staff here are just lovely! I had a steak pie that filled me up well, it was so tasty and i would give this lovely pub 1000 stars if I could! One of the best pubs I have ever experienced, would defintley come back!! :)))

We were asked to meet relatives at this pub and were surprised at just how good it was by the time we left (the outside and first entrance do not make it look too good) - for the cheaper end of the spectrum of pubs. The ladies loo, which I visited, was very old fashioned but had a very nice smell in it which was welcoming and it was clean.They have a very good cheap menu - £5.99 for a steak on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so we all had steak, just had to at that price LOLALTHOUGH my boyfriend and I went for the Surf and Turf at £8.99 and, would you believe it, we paid an extra £3.99 for 4 small scampis, yes 4 scampis which is daylight robbery and this price should either be reduced to reflect the bad supply of scampis or you put more scampi on the plate ?!!! This let this pub down a lot, hence why I want to mark it a Very Good but have instead marked it down as an "Average".They were also advertising a deal whereby buy a steak dinner and get a drink for £1.00 but we were charged full price for our drinks until we mentioned this vigorously with the waitress who relented - she was saying that special deal was not valid anymore - well then, do not advertise a deal if it is no longer in place as you are misleading the public ! Again another reason for marking this pub down to "Average".So, I would sort of recommend it

This is a great local pub nice feel about it and great place to go for lunch cheep as well nice staff.

We visited The Bull last night as a huge group on a works night out. The place was busy yet we were acknowledged and served immediately by the absolutely charming bar staff. We ordered a large number of dishes, we were given a reasonable time scale and received all of our food, well within time, piping hot and delicious. The decor is very traditional, warm and cosy. I cannot recommend this pub high enough, for a delicious meal and a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Thankyou

We visited here after going swimming at the Oasis pool as it was the closest place we could find. The place was not overly busy for a Saturday lunchtime think it's more of a drinking establishment than a foodie place although having said that what we ate couldn't complain about, portion size was good we had the sharer platter to start which gave all five of us something to be getting on with. The mains came about 5 mins after we had finished the starter. I had the Big daddy burger which was bigger than expected still managed to eat 90% of it but filled me up nicely. Rest of the family cleared their plates and had no room for dessert. Price wise can't complain either as there are plenty of deals to check out on the menu.

Me and my Dad came here on Sataurday it was my idea that we go there for lunch we both had a nice meal I had new yorker chicken and Dad a Burger me chicken was very nice the chicken was well cooked and succulent the BBQ sauce was sweet the chips where very nice to soft on the inside and chrispy on the outside good value for money

I returned to the bull today for the first time in 3 months, and left half my meal because it was sub standard. The eggs were overcooked and full of oil, the sausages have been changed from Bedfordshire pork to Lancashire beef and pork. And though the manager told me that he had a new cook, I feel that the meal was lacking it full potential

Called in on impulse. Seated quickly, and were impressed by the nice meals on the menu. Food was served quickly, and was hot. Looked and tasted delicious, at a very reasonable cost.Fancy dining this ain't, just good old fashioned pub food without fuss.We would recommend trying this nice clean pub!

Got told by a friend to try here. Haven't been here in probably two years. Have to say, "what an improvement".The place was clean for starters.Great menu with plenty of good pub food at a good price.The steak was cooked exactly as ordered. Burgers were freshly made and very juicy. Did made a tiny error with the order, but once made aware of mistake, it was rectified immediately and without hesitation. Very pleasant staff, and boss.Will not hesitate to return. Well done guys.

Our first visit to The Bull was at the end of a difficult week and from the moment we walked in we were welcomed and looked after. The drinks were very good value and the food was also of a good standard. The evening was made for us by the lovely Sarah, who was helpful, efficient and super friendly.

I have been to a different pub every day for the last 2 weeks for a meal, though the bull service was excellent. It's the best food that I've had, and the cheapest. I would highly recommend it

The Bull is a great pub that offers a combination of good value food, a family friendly atmosphere and some decent ales. The pub is arranged so that there is an area for dining or sitting at tables, and then more of a lounge area for watching sport or playing pool.The staff in the Pub a so friendly, they always make us feel very welcome and take time to chat to their clientele.As well as a family meal, The Bull is a great place to watch sport and I have been in to watch football a few times and found the atmosphere to be very relaxed.Just how a local pub should be.

If you want to stick your head in a trough with other tatoo faced clientelle, dine on food made from the very cheapest ingredients and re-heated by barely qualified staff then this is the place for you. Cheap, crap and a good chance of getting your head kicked in.

the Bull was good food at the right price but has gone down hill fast recently. If the chef cant read what it says on the menu in order to put the correct food on our plates, perhaps the picture of the meal would be easier to follow!! A few bad meals on the trot so no more for me, we have eaten as a couple and with various family members.On a plus point, the bar staff do try to be helpful, and try to create a good atmosphere

Came here with a lady I support. They served us well and was very compassionate when it came to serve my client who is blind. The food was nice and fairly sized portions. The chef was 30 minutes late to shift so the food was delayed but we was told this on arrive and not fobbed off with a story. We appreciated this and waited for our lunch anyway. The wait was worth it as the food was A+ I would definitely recommend.

Visited this pub for a quick meal, actually found the pub via trip advisor as new to the area. When I went to order the food they had ran out of 8oz rump steaks but still had sirlion steaks available I offered to pay to upgrade the meal I wanted to a sirlion steak as the chef had ran out of rump steaks! On steak night!!! It wasn't the fact they had ran out that annoyed me it was the attitude off of the manager on duty! Her attitude was disgusting and not how you should talk to any customer! She refused to make the order and came up with some excuse which would make stock levels wrong! I work in the industry and when your in the wrong and a customer is offered to pay more because of ur mistake then u shouldn't be having an argument with the customer! Can't comment on the food as I didn't get past the ordering stage!!!

We were passing were hungry, pub looked lovely on outside which encouraged us to go in, on entering we were greeted with a real pleasant smile and attitude from all staff, very welcoming. Pub was very clean and had a fresh look to it. We had Sunday lunch which was very satisfactory but the sweets were even better. All well presented with pleasant service and very reasonably priced. Ok first off it's a green king pub. It has restrictions therefor for menu choice and beers. What sets these type of places apart is the staff and ambiance. We stopped unexpectedly as we were hungry, mid afternoon so that awkward time.Asking is Sunday lunch available what a delight to be told yes (4pm on a Sunday).Greeted at the bar by Sarah, who engaged in polite pleasant and comforting conversation, menu was explained order taken and repeated back and drinks served. Meals arrived promptly, sadly no horseradish sauce, but steak cook to perfection, roast beed flavoursomeAnd gravy made from real jus. Asked if all was ok we said we were delighted. When the meal was finished, sarah approached and spoke to us, as she explained hadn't seen us before and wanted to know if we enjoyed. Names asked and discussion had a rare treat. So 1. Yes I have had betterRoasts else where but cost for cost this is super value, 2. Yes football was on and a little noisey but we were not there for a romantic meal. 3. Price very reasonable all round, food drinks etc. 4. StaffFirst class. If you want a good atmosphere and nice good wholesome good value food served by a great team try the Bull.
