This shop is now closed down however when it was open it was a pleasant and comfortable place to enjoy a coffee or tea

Went here to get a take away coffee,coffee OK.also brought a chocolate muffin which was disgusting so hard and dry feel like it had been out for day. Won't be back

While the sandwich and croissant were delightful, we encountered an issue with our drinks order. Despite clearly specifying an iced caramel latte, the staff mistakenly prepared an iced latte with an extra shot of coffee. The second drink, intended to be a regular caramel macchiato, arrived in a large mug and was overly milky, making it challenging to taste the coffee. Unfortunately, the staff refused to refund one of the drinks and placed the blame on us, resulting in a disappointing experience. While my previous visits to the cafe were enjoyable, this time I was let down by both the staff's service and the quality of the drinks.

Such slow service and confusion as to what you've ordered. The server was struggling to get to grips with English but the manager/Supervisor wasn't a lot better. Given things we never ordered then a long wait for them to rectify it, followed by a surly attitude. This could be a great place for lunch with the right people in it. At least the coffee was nice!

Love coffee Republic, good space lovely coffee and nice prices. The toilets need a rota though as on a recent visit they needed a good clean. It's not usually like that, so maybe it was a busy day..

Really like to know what’s going on. It’s been closed for weeks. Used to be my coffee shop of choice. Not ridiculous high pricing like Starbucks. Coffee is nice and it’s not so pokey that you feel the staff are staring at you. Looks like there were a few signs of life today (Sunday) though it was closed. Are you reopening 🤷🏻‍♂️

went in for lunch a few weeks ago the food is very nice their and the hot drinks are good but i think the place has gone now dont think it been open for nearly five weeks now shame it was a good cafe nobody said about it being shut down the stuff never said anything shame it was a good cafe

Great service. Nice coffee. Lovely staff. A nice "how coffee shops used to be before Starbucks" feel about it.

Visited on Saturday with my wife as all the other coffee shops were full. This place had one person asleep near the door and two other customers. Can't say it's popular.

The toastie and coffee is a great deal

Went in for a breakfast which was scrambled egg bacon beans and toast which they classes a full English food came out cold sent it back still came out cold not really equipped for things like that .

The only place in Bedford to get a full-on proper "dry cappuccino" .. no fancy Dan syrups or left field milk, just a good old fashioned "wake me up" cup of honest to god coffee .. Big thank you to Tami, the super barista who cares enough to mane it happen every time..

Enjoyed the coffee but the panini could have been better The filling was uneven, one end contained almost nothing but rather a lot of pesto. Some of the staff were somewhat un-engaging. Also, the toilet was not as clean as I would expect.

I’ve been coming here for a few years and loved it, loved it past tense, sadly in the last three weeks I have been short changed six times, once I accept, twice at a push but it happens so often it’s time to find somewhere else. It’s sad that I the customer have to tell the staff what coins im missing. When you point it out to them the look of confusion is staggering. Sorry CR the new staff simply can’t do there sums, time to move on!!!!!

Very nice cafe on high street plenty of viewing windows. Very pleasant and helpful staff, aimed to please. Cleaner than most other places, still room for improvement. I had a small double flat white, bit too bitter for me and not hot enough. Scrambled eggs disappointing, brown toast was ok but not as good as Costa. Hopefully they will review their reviews because the location and ambiance is excellent.

Visited for a quick drink. The service was below shocking in all honesty. Numerous tables were waiting a long time. We had to tell the staff member serving 3 times what drink we wanted. We sat and waited whilst watching others go and ask for a refund as it was taking such a long time. If you’re happy to sit there and watch the world go by then it’s the place to go. I won’t be returning, the 3 working today didn’t look like they knew what they were doing at all. After waiting 15 minutes one of the girls came over to ask if we were missing anything and what it was we ordered. I’m not sure these guys could run a bath.

Reasonable priced coffee, but lower quality

I always used to love this place and hadn't been here for some time. This visit wasn't very good right from the beginning, with the member of staff serving me wasn't welcoming at all. He didn't say hello and he certainly didn't listen to what I was saying. The cheese and tomato bap was in date, but the roll was rock hard and part of the cheese dried out! I won't be going back here again!

Typical over priced coffee shop

Web suggests that it is open until 7 Mon to Sat and 6 on Sunday. Was closed at 4.15 today Sunday. Yesterday seemed it was getting ready to close just after 5. Otherwise nice inside and good selection of lounging or more upright seats and tables for working.

Nice coffee. Only coffee place open on the High street on 24th Dec after 4pm. Staff kind and attentive despite this Johnny come lately. cheers

Really good service and really enjoyed the muffin

The croissant that I have ordered seemed old and overpriced. Some tables were dirty and woobly so my beverage spilled twice all over table. The waitress didn't bother to clean it the second time. I am a foreigner who came here as it was recommended by my husband of local origin who remembered this place as perfectly charming. Leila

Called here on Monday for a coffee. Never again! The tables and floor were filthy. I had to clean the table top. Crumbs all over the floor. The cabinets holding cakes etc were grubby too. We bought a wrapped biscuit to be safe. There were only a handful of people there so no excuse really. Sugar bowls mostly empty too.

A brilliant branch of Coffee Republic with an ideal location on Bedford High Street opposite Natwest Bank, perfect for people-watching. This one also appears to be family-run, and offers exceptional customer service and keep the place looking pristine at all times. On my first visit, I ordered the Mexican tuna panini and a regular cappuccino. The coffee beans that they use are all specially selected from master baristas in Milan, and they create a stronger-tasting coffee by default, which is exactly to my taste. My panini was cooked to perfection (not overcooked or tough as old boots, as has been my experience in other big chains), and they remembered to season all the ingredients within. On my second visit I ordered the brie and bacon panini and boy were they generous with the brie! 😅 They also offer a loyalty scheme, whereby if you buy 9 barista-made beverages (coffee, smoothie, etc) and get the loyalty card stamped each time, the 10th one is free when you present the completed stamp card as proof. It's high time that we all ditched the soulless, non-tax-paying chain cafes and started supporting the likes of Coffee Republic. Even without the card, they've certainly earned my loyalty! ✅️

Been In Twice in 7 days , ordered a coffee and the man serving asked me to take a seat . Both times after waiting 15 mins had to go and remind him that I haven’t had my drink , whilst he was just sitting down and chatting . It wasn’t busy either , Very disappointed and won’t be going anymore, will find somewhere else. Once is ok , yeah I get it forgot etc but twice , the same man , not good . Advice is to stand at the till and wait regardless .

First time I've been into Coffee Republic on the High Street in Bedford in ages, as we normally gravitate towards Frescoes, the long-established independent. However, Coffee Republic are doing a really good job here. Decent tasting coffee and a nice sandwich / panini, a comfortable chair to sit in and quiet on a Monday but with just enough people to stop this big branch feeling barn-like. Plenty of choice in things for lunch and good service from the team today. I'd use this branch again.

I was a regular here. Seriously gone down hill sadly. Poor service and the whole coffee shop now feels grubby. Dirty floors. Furniture mucky and chairs scattered everywhere. Cake and muffin cabinets so dirty with stains it’s hard to see through. Has this place changed ownership? It was sharp and well run not so long ago. Unlikely to return.

Not much of a cozy ambiance. Very much a chain coffeeshop feel. Coffee was not that hot. But served its purpose

Took ages to be served and no good welcome in fact staff looked bored with their job and miserable so no ambience. Coffee nice and hot in a mug so 1 star for that but not a great coffee, very noisey and echoey in there and won't be returning.

Indian man doesn’t mean the difference between a capuccino and tea with milk and i never seen in my life a stupid girl like her. If they won’t served us cappuccino because had clean the machine, that’s okay just tell us.

Warm welcome from staff, lots of seating in with social distancing. Paninis were a bit flavourless but the coffee and watermelon slushy were lovely. Cake was ok.

Fantastic and very nice and friendly.

Visited this morning and was shocked by the lack of Covid safe procedures. Since the recent rule change on mandatory facemasks being worn until you are seated was introduced, we all understand it's a pain but are trying to do our bit to keep each other safe. People were strolling in and around without masks including the server. Yes, there's hand sanitiser available on entry but hardly anyone using it and no track & trace being carried out. The place was packed with little or no social distancing especially the queue to be served. Really, it's a potential virus hotbed. No management around to speak with and I certainly won't be returning. Please do something to make this coffee shop safe for your customers.

Here we could sit down and relax, out of the drizzle. As it happens, we also wanted a drink and snack to revive us. If you are there before 11:00 you can get a coffee and snack for £3.49 - tremendous value! The deal offers a bacon croissant with the coffee; as they were out of croissants, we got a toastie each - even better value!! The coffee is awesome and the toastie was tasty. Staff are welcoming and afficient :)

Started using CR a year ago, loved coming here great coffee, fab service, and then, a change of staff and sadly my last three visits have resulted in being forgotten about three times, twice getting my order wrong and twice giving me additional drinks I’ve never ordered. I hope things improve

I came here to study before my exams and it felt very homey! I felt comfortable and peaceful. The staff was friendly and the coffee was delicious. This is by far the best coffee place in town!

The coffee was bitter, and there was dust everywhere, skirting boards needed washing and the floor was dirty, service was slow. One guy was sweeping the floor with 1 hand and on the phone with the other.

When in town with the wife always head here when going for a coffee. You get a good sized mug for reasonable price and always hot. They have deals to eat and drink on different days or times. Always worth a visit. Very friendly staff.

Tasty coffee one of the best in Bedford. Make the order, they will bring you're coffee to the table, but if you'll ask for a tissue or something else, be prepared to serve yourself.

My boyfriend and I just love it here. My favourite drink is a White Creme Brulee Hot Chocolate made with coconut milk and topped with cream 😋 with a slice of carrot cake too...of course 😉 delicious.
