Fabulous hospitality from the staff. A real treat to visit The Bruce Arms and it is set in such a picturesque location and knowing that the food & drink is good value too. Would highly recommend and already looking forward to returning. Thank you 😊.

Had a meal with friends and my sister. The food was great and the service was very good. Live music upstairs on the night was very good with an appreciative audience of all ages.

We just nipped over from Edinburgh where we live as it’s only a half hour drive and we thought we could have afternoon here with the family and to also let the dog free for a run around. We researched somewhere for lunch that was dog friendly prior to our arrival and so decided on the Bruce Arms. Food was excellent, staff very friendly and premises were clean and welcoming so we were very pleased to have found this place. We would highly recommend the Bruce Arms for anyone out and about nearby looking for a lovely lunch as we thought it was great and would not hesitate to go again if we were in the area in the near future.

Popped in as we'd been on a walk nearby and wanted a light lunch, but happily decided to go for a full one instead. Absolutely delicious food that I'd eat anytime and anywhere. My pan-fried chicken was perfect - thank you.

Excellent repeat lunchtime dining experience. The homemade Steak & Ale [Puff Pastry] Pie with chips [peel on], juicy peas & fresh carrot batons were delicious. The cuts, quality & quantity of meat were exceptional. Gravy heaven. Attended to immediately by super friendly staff. Food arrived very quickly. Without doubt the best around by miles! Will definitely return.

Truly awful experience, unwelcoming poor customer service and dreadful food, this is possibly the worst food I’ve been served in last 10 years and I eat out a lot, wouldn’t recommend and not sure where all the positive reviews come from on here to be honest.

Great little place been a few times now for dinners and lunch great service and foods always great. Wife takes glutton free and loves the selection here.

Great New Year Steak Pie dinner. Maybe hold back on the thyme, but couldn't fault quality of beef and rest of food. Absolutely first class. Great portion size and lovely staff who were run off their feet, but still managed to deliver a first class service. Terrific family New Year dinner at The Bruce, and hope they will do same next New Year! Well done Team Bruce. Fab start to 2024. Happy New Year to you all :)

Friendly and welcoming pub with great food.

The menu may look like simple pub grub, but it is pub grub done extremely well. They coped well with a range of dietary preferences too. The service was friendly and efficient. It's my second lunch here and I'd be happy to come back again.

Class pub with a great friendly atmosphere and lovely tea and coffee

Booked a meal for 2 tonight, took half an hour to get our drinks (we got forgotten) ice in my glass was melting, waitress took food order then after 45 mins asked if we had ordered food the same waitress that took our order then came back to say sorry there had been a mix up and asked if she could retake our order and be as quick as possible.. personally feel the young waitress was a bit out her depth 😕

Friendly staff and tasty food! Menu could do with some better healthier options. Chicken ceasar, for example, but what we had was super tasty and a decent serving. Staff friendly and a good place to stop off when visiting Limekilns.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Food OK, but spoiled by rude waitress. Loud, rude and just nasty. I see other reviews saying similar..... Will not be back. Will be telling everyone I know. This is a replacement review, due to a response from (the owner?) which was obviously aimed at someone else. Complaints to 'Trip Advisor' did nothing. Evident, however, that he/she cannot take criticism, seeing responses to other low star reviews.

The Bruce Arms was a lovely little spot for a meal and some beer. Folks are really friendly and you instantly feel like you're a part of their town.

We were staying in Limekilns before flying from Edinburgh in the morning. Went to the Bruce Arms for a bar supper. This was one of the best bar suppers we have ever had. The food was fantastic, the beer was excellent and the staff were great. Highly recommended.

7 years the owners have run this place and you can see why they are still popular. Nice food, nice staff and nice prices.

Came here for some Sunday afternoon drinks and planned to watch the Scotland vs Georgia Rugby match. First time visiting the Bruce Arms ( have always planned to go, but ended up either in the Inn at Charlestown or the Coorie next door). The bar staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the bar and seating area are a great spot to sit and chill out. Atmosphere is great, and was thoroughly enjoyable listening to the locals banter as the place started to get a bit more busier as the afternoon went on. The pub dogs are super cute, and we absolutely love the fact that it's 100% dog friendly (indoors as well as outside). Will absolutely be coming back again and would definitely recommend paying this friendly wee spot a visit.

Our family of four visited for dinner on Sunday evening. Fortunately we had booked as the pub was busy. We all ordered different meals : Nachos, steak & Guinness pie, fish & chips, and the daily special of feather steak. The nachos were OK but the others three meals were outstanding, as good as you’d get anywhere. We followed with deserts, and again all were amazing. All for a reasonable cost Highly recommended.

We were visiting Limekilns for an early evening walk and decided to go to the Bruce Arms for a meal. Very friendly staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Dog friendly! The food was fresh and delicious. A wide choice of interesting dishes on the menu - including a good range of vegetarian options. Thoroughly recommended!

This cute little Café is a real secret tip. The staff is friendly and the decoration fits perfectly together and creates a cosy mood. Unfortunetly there isn' t much to order but defenetly worth a try. 👍

We took James & his twin sister, Sharlyn to this venue for their birthday party and it was absolutely amazing 😃 The atmosphere, the DJ, the food & the drinks were absolutely beautiful. Really good pub food and a good selection of fairly priced beers.

Arrived at the bruce arms after finding that everything else nearby was shut. Looks lovely from the outside of the building but that is about the only nice thing I can say about the place. When I walked in, I asked for food menus and was told they weren't serving to which I then asked for a drinks menu but was told that I couldn't get one. This does not make any sense as there were clearly menus behind them. The fact that they weren't selling food was nonsensical as the person that had arrived at the same time as us had been given menus and been allowed to order food. I eventually was able to order some drinks which were watered-down heavily. When we walked back into the pish stained place to pay, there was no one at the counter and it took a full half-hour of waiting for a staff member to get to the counter and give us the bill which did not make any sense as the place was empty. Once we were finally given the bill I was horrified for the price of our drinks, it came to £8 for a tiny watered down sprite and coke and instant coffee. After querying the priced, the waitress began to get angry with me and argued that a 150 ml sprite is worth £3.Overall I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone and will be never coming back.

We really like this place, a wee local family pub with a great atmosphere. Food portions are a good size and they are tasty. Being dog friendly is an added benefit :)

Great spot for a drink and something to eat.

We walked in about 6pm on a Saturday and the place was busy! A very nice server told us it was a busy day with all the reservations, but she would check with the back. She came back and was able to fit us in quickly 🙌. Such great hospitality for two wandering foreigners. And the food and drink were great too!

To be honest I’ve only had the steak pie. Also might be biased as on and off been eating here since the 1980’s. I can say when I bring people with me it’s a winner. Best steak pie in my opinion and this fat kid loves pie. My friends and family are always happy with the service and quality of food. I recommend the sticky toffee pudding with custard. I’m loyal I’m biased and I’ll be going here until the day I expire.

Popped in for a meal with the family at fairly short notice. Best pub food we’ve had for some time. Menu varied and decent. Pricing very fair. Staff very friendly and full of locals which is always a good sign. We’ll be back.

Staying locally on business I walked to The Bruce Arms for an evening meal, on a Wednesday night around 6.30pm. Busy bar area, local people, and casual atmosphere. Landlady pleasant. Often awkward when dining alone but I sat in the quiet room opposite the bar and read my book. Steak and ale pie was delicious. Table service for drinks. Reasonable pricing. I'd recommend.

We only stopped for a coffee, older style pub / hotel. Coffee was nice, reasonable price, staff friendly, there were tables booked for lunch and a few locals in for a chat, all good signs.

A rare treat, to find a traditional pub, with top notch food, which isn't part of a generic chain. Stopped for a family lunch with 3 x steak pie enthusiasts and I can say it was absolutely fantastic. Loved the slightly haphazard presentation (gravy slightly off the plate!) as it was all about the flavour. One of the best I've ever had. Was around a tenner, great value, and the kids burger my 8 year old had was about £6 or so, real brioche bun, well toasted, real cheese melted on (not some cheese single). Just so refreshing to see somewhere that's still doing things properly. Thanks for a great lunch!
