The Broomgate Cafe in City of London, Westminster

The restaurant was highly recommended by friends and family. We have been twice in a short space of time. On both occasions the food was excellent. The staff very friendly and helpful. However on our second visit someone came in and sat beside us with a large dog. We found this extremely off putting and found it extremely surprising to discover that the restaurant is dog friendly. The Broomgate is a small bistro restaurant you don’t expect such premises to be dog friendly . We know of no other’s restaurants like this that allow dogs. This was the only negative thing about the restaurant which was otherwise excellent

Lovely staff and food is delicious fresh and one of the best meals to be had in Lanark-something for everyone-don’t miss this place!

My wife and I decided to go to this restaurant for a second time since their new menu came out and we were not disappointed in any way. Booking in advance is essential as this restaurant is gaining in popularity very fast indeed in Lanark and no wonder why! It is a family run business and they have obviously thought things through very carefully indeed. The restaurant has been refurbished to a high standard. The toilets are spotless and the whole refurbishment very well thought out. Once we booked well in advance, we were welcomed in to what was a very busy restaurant late on Sunday at lunchtime. The restaurant was very clean and welcoming and was extremely busy – even at the time we arrived which was 2:30pm. We had pre-lunch drinks which were reasonably priced and then placed our order for 2 Steak Frites cooked “blue”. It was very evident that this chef really knew what a blue steak was and more importantly how to cook it! The steaks came out hot and yet blue and my wife who is an excellent cook knows just how difficult this is to achieve. We have been to many restaurants and hotels and asked for a “blue steak” and there are quite a few chefs who will either refuse to cook a blue steak or simply can’t get it right! The steaks came with a very nice peppercorn sauce served separately. The entire meal was just beautiful and we had a really nice bottle of Malbec to accompany the meal. All in all, an excellent meal, sensibly priced and we will most certainly be back! This for us, is our No 1 restaurant in Lanark. Well done to all the staff for giving us such a pleasurable eating experience. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and good luck to the owners for producing quality food at such a high standard. The waitress service was great too! Decided to come here for lunch - haven't really been to Broomgate since they moved from being a tearoom to a restaurant. Well certainly pleased we gave it a try, it was excellent - it's so clean and the staff are lovely. It's also now licensed so we were able to enjoy some wine with our meal - the drinks are very reasonably priced and the Malbec we had was really good. My husband went for the haddock and I have to say the batter looked superb and it was a huge portion, I went for the steak frites which they've just introduced to the menu - it's a small fillets steak which comes sliced on top of the frites and served with a jug of peppercorn sauce, it was cooked to perfection in my case blue and was excellent value for money (£15). It may have been our first visit but it won't be our last. It's great that Lanark town centre now has a decent reasonable priced restaurant.

We absolutely loved this place. Had the tacos which were absolutely beautiful (3 different types). Kids had macaroni cheese and fish and chips (all enjoyed!). The workers were lovely and the toilets were immaculate. Would highly recommend!

Went back to the broomgate after the refurbishment as we had dined there on several occasions, my wife ordered steak pie only now its served in a bowl. Swimming in gravy so you can imagine your mash potatoes. I myself ordered fish and chips, most of my chips I couldn't get my fork through as they were the small end you would normally bin , oinion rings in a bread crumbs were under cooked. Spoke with apparently new owner Laura who advised my wife that there was a new chef, there was nothing wrong with the was I was before the so called refurbishment, was offered a free meal sorry but no thanks.

Amazing food, perfectly cooked. The service very prompt and friendly! It was my first time visiting and I would definitely return again 👍👍👍

Great place to eat! Will be returning! Food was good slightly on the expensive side but it was well worth it for the portion we got.

Allergen friendly restaurant. Staff will make anything on request. I feel very safe eating here. I've visited several times and never been unwell after my meal. The choice and quality of food is extremely good. All for a good price too which encourages me to return. Service is prompt, professional and efficient. If I could offer a constructive suggestion? Could some kind of system be installed in an effort to address noise? It can be rather loud when busy.

Brilliant as always. My family and I visit The Broomgate regularly. We’ve had fantastic breakfasts, lunches and dinners with our kids and with groups of friends. Last night we went for a ‘posh’ meal for my wife’s birthday. It didn’t disappoint! We both had lovely fillet steaks - cooked to perfection and a lovely bottle of wine. As always the atmosphere was great and the staff were very friendly. It really was excellent! Well done again.

Went for Hogmany evening meal with my other half and brother and sister in law; they had been before, but this was our first visit. The decor is lovely, modern but welcoming. The staff couldn't be nicer and very helpful. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Will definitely be back!

Visited last night with friends and had a great night, everything was just perfect. The restaurant was immaculate and service was excellent. The menu was great with loads of choice and everyone enjoyed their meal. We will definitely be back!

Visited on a Sunday evening a few weeks before Christmas and what an absolute treat! The festive menu was the option with the Terrine for starters followed by a Turkey dinner. The meal was exceptional. Hard to tell whether it is a cafe or a restaurant feel (maybe should be one or the other) but the food was excellent for dinner! Will definitely revisit, I just hope it will be as good as the first time.

Lovely evening spent with friends at Bloomgate. This place has a nice vibe. Lots of tables all enjoying good food and background music. Our table of 7 was served at just the right pace and by waiting staff who really seemed to care.We stayed late catching up but were never made to feel like we had out-stayed our welcome. Our whole party enjoyed their food - served hot, fresh and delicious. Portions are big at Bloomgate, so be warned. Mac n cheese with various toppings and katsu chicken curry were our choices. Half our party made a game attempt at desserts - pancakes, sundae and meringue. All delicious. We all commented on how delicious our food was and how lovely the service was.

Visited for Sunday lunch with my Mother having only ever been here for a coffee. Food and service was excellent and the fact it was fully booked tells it all. Good choice of menu with decent portions. Special thanks to Gemma, you are a star. Highly recommended

This place deserves to be higher up the list on Tripadvisor. Excellent quality food for the money, staff were superb and friendly. It's not often you find food this nice for cheaper café prices, I was shocked really. The Korean chicken starter was lovely, and the meat in the authentic chilli was melt in your mouth, stunning. The Wife enjoyed both her meals too. Staff were a great bunch, if I lived up there I would be in at least once a week. If you are staying anywhere near then you need to pop into this place, it's definitely in Lanark and not in London as the TripAdvisor map shows!

Went here whilst staying in Lanark for couple of nights. Struggled to choose from menu as so many lovely sounding dishes to choose from. We had Sunday roast and prawn katsu curry, both dishes were delicious. Staff all young and very friendly. If it wasn’t our last night we would definitely have gone back to try another dish.

We had Sunday roast lunch. All delicious and homemade . Yorkshire pudding like my Geordie mam used to make. Roast chicken,roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, stuffing and a side of tasty gravy.. fab will be returning very soon . Thanks to the lovely friendly...

Friendly staff, delicious food and nice setting. What's not to like. I enjoyed a Truffle Burger and a side of onion rings. Its the second time we've visited and it won't be our last. If you're in the area, I recommend a visit.

Disappointing service. We were regulars although now due to issues with staff attitude & lack of atmosphere we will not return. We enjoy spending money with local business this is not one we can justify anymore.

What a lovely restaurant! Well run, welcoming, good menu, delicious food, obviously well supported by local folk and reasonably priced. We would certainly come again if in Lanark.

Eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it We went on a Saturday afternoon and everyone loved the food I had the pate which was lovely followed by the steak pie which was easily a 10/10

Enterprising new business with extended opening hours. Great to have a local place offering a great service from breakfast right through the day, to dinner in the evening. Lovely homemade soup and good, menu options of simple cafe food. Piping hot, service with a smile...

Great freshly made evening meals that are wholesome ,fantastic taste and great value , service like the food and everything else about the Broomgate Cafe is excellent . Definitely worth returning to for lunch and breakfast service or just for coffee and cakes

Lovely freshly made food with great choices, daily specials and reasonably priced. Home baking is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly. All necessary COVID requirements in place re hygiene and social distancing. Highly recommended and wish the new owners every success
