The Brook Inn in Ipswich

i eat here on a regular basis but tonight was ruined by a coachload of rude drunk foul mouthed stowmarket rugby club players and supporters the pub was fully booked with diners and these louts should have been refused entry pub management did nothing it was a male customer who was brave enough tohave words and he got abbuse before they left i will never eat here agai

Lots of delicious, Gluten Free options, Lovely Burger, the other half had Tempura Prawns and raved about them! Superb Cheesecake for dessert, service was friendly and efficient, food very tasty!! Very good value for money!!

We had an amazing Christmas meal. Charlie and his team made us very welcome, they were warm and friendly. The food was amazing and we will definitely be back!

Even on a cold Tuesday lunchtime the pub was so busy. Everybody enjoying their food and drinks. Service was perfect, and good atmosphere. The portions were huge, maybe too large for most . The menu and specials board were very tempting. Well done the Brook, we will return soon.

Was literally no place better than this so far. Younger boy serving was professional, accurate and polite and the food came absolutely perfect. Not a long wait and it was insane. The pie was just fab, mushroom and truffle oil, and had lots of gravy just as you would want! The loaded fries side were ordered as main and these were large and perfectly covered! The whole experience was just perfect and I can't wait to go back!!

Nice surroundings, pleasant and helpful staff. Food is good and fresh, the only drawback is the prices they charge are on the steep side. A meat pie with vegetables at over £17 is not good value. All the other dishes are expensive too with burger and chips, fish and chips over £16. Heaven help you if you went to the specials board as most items over £20.

Fancied somewhere different. Rang to book a table, they kindly squeezed us in on a busy Friday night. The place was buzzing, with a great atmosphere. A good mix of diners; families, couples and friends catching up. Plenty of staff serving and behind the bar, they all seemed very organised. We were served promptly by Kacey, who was very polite and friendly and helped to answer our questions. On their recommendation we tried the deep fried gherkins.. they were gorgeous! Generous enough portion for two to share as a starter, came with sweet chilli dip, scrumptious! Had ham egg and chips for one and pie with chips and veg for other. All beautifully cooked, generous portions, no skimping on quality.. in particular the ham was “proper” nice ham and the veg was the nicest we’ve eaten out in a long while, especially the red cabbage, again “proper” just like mum used to do it! Finished with a brulee each, it was just perfect. Really happy with everything, our thanks to all the team at The Brook… we will definitely be back

Until the last 30 minutes that we were at the Brook Inn, we'd have given it 5 stars. The service was good, the food was very good. The steak and ale pie was large with tender meat and light pastry. The belly of pork was delicious with excellent crackling. Veg were great and cooked perfectly. All in all, the food was good value for money. The only part of the meal I really didn't enjoy was the chocolate orange creme brulee - all chocolate, no orange and I would debate that it was a true creme brulee. However, there are two restaurant rooms and the public bar joins onto one, with no door, just a very large gap in the wall. There were young children in the public bar until 8.30pm, who were jumping up and down the steps from one room to the other. We like children, but we don't necessarily want to have them around when we're out for a meal. And then the rugby came on the TV. It was very loud, despite the fact that those watching it were right in front of and practically underneath the TV. Not only do we not want to hear children or rugby whilst out for a meal, we don't want to listen to the foul language that goes with it! Easy enough to resolve - put in a door! We did highlight this with the server. We would go back for a meal, but in the other restaurant room and not when the rugby is on! (PS - we love rugby, but not when we're out!!)

We stumbled upon this place when the restaurant we wanted to go to was full. Oh man... we were so lucky! This place was fantastic, great food, excellent service, reasonably priced and perfect ambience. The four of us all ordered the Sunday roast. It was a treat. Fabulous Friday night out - v welcoming and attentive staff and service, the food was stunning. We devoured the starters (humous and squid). The pork belly was too die for with perfect crackling and my husband said it was one of the best pies he had ever tasted.

Lovely food from a well thought out menu and specials board, delivered to the table in a timely way by friendly staff. Very considerate of food allergies and intolerances. Great atmosphere and ample parking. Would highly recommend.

Just returned from a wonderful meal for my wife's birthday. I had the steak and ale pie and wife had the seafood platter from the specials board, both were absolutely fantastic and very good portion sizes, leaving us both very full! Fantastic staff made the evening even better, can't wait to go back.

Outstanding example of a community revived pub/restaurant. Two large bars, a smart patio and covered area. Food is well above the average pub fare (with a high proportion of gluten free meals). Good real ale. Excellent all round.

I came for lunch with two grandchildren and my son. I opted for bouillabaisse. Maybe expensive for lunch but really good. Salmon, Cod, prawns, mussels in a tomato and onion stew with some roast potatoes. Very filling and very good. My son also went for paella which was also filling. The two grandsons ate from the adult menu but still managed a pudding. Sticky toffee. One with ice cream and the other with custard. I have been here several times and so far never been disappointed.

We had a wonderful meal after arriving early to get an outside table, having found it fully booked inside. The sun was out and lockdown not long over so unsurprisingly the place was abuzz. Despite the rush service was polite and efficient and once we ordered the food came quickly. The food, it has to be said, sets this gastro-pub apart. It’s spectacular. We heartily recommend both the tempura prawn and pork belly for main. Generous portions and lots of nice touches like cooking the roast potatoes and the carrots in herbs. Thoroughly recommend.

We had an excellent lunch - The Brook was very attentive to Covid safety, the food was very tasty and a good variety, and the service was spot-on. They even provided blankets for our chilly outside lunch.

Outside dining only at the present time, because of the CV19 rules, but the Staff at the Brook have risen to the challenge and offer a good menu outside on the terrace.We had a lovely evening, made comfortable by the specially installed heat lamps.The staff were most pleasant and the food was outstanding quality, and very good value. Home made cheese Nachos to start were lovely.I should also mention that having paid the bill, a member of staff chased me out in the car park to tell me that I had inadvertently given them too much money, as a couple notes had stuck together - a degree of honestly that is very rare indeed these days, and should be applauded - Thank you.

Went to The Brook with my family for a Xmas treat and it certainly was a treat. The food was spectacular could have chosen everything on the menu. Lovely cosy atmosphere and the staff were kind helpful and had lots of Xmas cheer.

We used to go twice a month before COVID but since the first lockdown we have been going once a week.. to support the pub - the food staff and atmosphere are amazingWe feel very safe with COVID precautions the pub has put in place. The staff are amazing and the food is excellent.

Arrived at 3.45 on Sunday for a much awaited Sunday roast.As always the food was exceptional, really great portion size, fantastic roast beef and roast turkey breast from the specials board. We followed these with christmas pudding and cheese and biscuits.I ate every piece of cheese but left most of the biscuits as I was so full. I chose a Romanian sauvignon blanc to drink, which was lovely. Very fresh and also easy to drink. Can recommend to white wine drinkers. We highly recommend this pub to everyone we know. We have never walked out of here disappointed.

We are so lucky to have this as our local pub - the food is always exceptional with a good range of old favourites but with also some choices that are a little bit special and most dishes have a little something different about them. Nicely presented and served in good time. The staff are always very welcoming, efficient and helpful and knowledgable about the menu and very Covid safe - there is a good distance between tables and lots of sanitising and cleaning going on. We like eating out a lot and we often prefer coming here because we know we won’t be let down. For a local village pub it really gives some of the big names a run for their money in terms of the food and the service and at a reasonable price! Well done!!

First time here, and will definitely not be the last!! The food is absolutely superb, generous portions that taste out of this world, my partner is gluten intolerant and this is the first place we have been to that actually caters properly for her from starters all the way to desserts! If I could give more than 5 stars for this place I honestly would, friendly staff, fantastic food, vibrant atmosphere, thank you!!
