Amazing brunch for 15. Really lovely food and plenty of booze. Highly recommend for big or small group! Brilliant service too!

I visited the bronze with my hubby and two friends. We were greeted by a pleasant and keen waiter who took our order. At the time of ordering we had made a request that a certain dish not be made with cheese as a member we of our party was allergic. We ordered two of these dishes one with cheese. When they came out they looked identical so we questioned the waitress. She seemed unsure even though she said one definitely was cheese free. We questioned it again and another waiter said that the other of the two dishes was the cheese free option. I tasted the cheese free option, but it wasn’t cheese free I got friend to taste it he said the same. We then told the waitress that we didn’t want this particular dish because it wasn’t what we order. To our surprise the chef or the “I am the owner” appeared at our table. We explained situation and it turn into a very uncomfortable confrontation. “I made it I know what I made and you are calling me a liar” we sat in disbelief. We explained that maybe he had made a mistake and that all we were saying was that we wouldn’t pay for this dish. He than said “you can finish your meal and pay and leave” to this we all laugh and suggested that he had taken things way to far and basically needed to calm down. We said as a customer do you not think that you should just let it go. He said “ I’m always right” not great management ! He eventually gave us an apology through gritted teeth and left the table. When we paid the manager said we have taken off the dish you weren’t happy with and also the service charge, like she was doing us a favour! I would not recommend this place or ever go here again and I will be telling this to everyone I know.

We visited on the 23/4 and ordered various food options but were clear the potato dish should not have cheese on it as my friend is allergic to it. When it came it looked like it had cheese in it. We queried it with the waitress who later explained she was the manager (apparently). After a load of back and forth the kitchen chef appeared at our table and aggressively challenged we were calling him a liar!. We were not, merely saying we would expect not to pay for that dish. He then proclaimed he was the owner and we were calling him a liar. He then stated the customer was never right, he was and suggested we pay up and leave, mid meal!. Just awful representation of a so called business owner and example of a customer centric Brighton business. Plenty of other great establishments in Kemptown to spend your time and money within. Would highly suggest you avoid if you want a customer centric and enjoyable night out.

After 45 minutes we were told there had been some miscommunication with our order. The guy was very nice, apologised and told us they would offer us a refund on some items. Then a drink was dropped and splashed all over my wife, no one apologised or asked if she was wet. Another table had similar issues with their food and made a deal of it and were offered free food. We think it was the manager then came over and gave us the wrong bill. Then didn’t apologise or offer to reduce bill. Tbh we paid and did not complain because the money is not the point. In short, some food was nice, other was not, only one vegan dish, service needs a lot of work..

NOTE: I contacted The Bronze by email to complain, as I wanted to give them the opportunity to respond and make up for what happened. Despite eventually replying to say it was being looked into, 4 emails and 18 days later, they clearly don't care enough to bother responding. For that reason, it feels fair to post this review and let others know: We booked a table for 5 for 7pm, and were the first customers to be seated in the restaurant. Our server asked if we were here for the jazz band, which we weren’t, and when I asked if it was loud, she said it was ‘background music’. We had around an hour before the band started properly, which included a nice, quiet, warm up routine, where the drummer used ‘brushes’ to create a nice pitter-patter beat. However, 8pm hit, the drummer switched these for sticks, and the resulting sound was conversation-drowning at best, tinitis-inducing at worst. We were literally shouting to each other from 2 feet away, which - whilst vastly improving my lip reading skills - meant the experience was more of a jazz concert than a social occasion. Had the band kept to the promised ‘background music’ volume, it would have been quite pleasant. Rewinding to the start of the evening… after we sat down, we had to wait 18 minutes to be asked what drinks we wanted, despite trying to catch someone’s attention multiple times. We were also told we’d get tap water, but had to wait until then to ask for it. When our food order was taken, it didn’t fill us with confidence. Despite various people around the table ordering the same dish, rather than write ‘1/2 ribs x 2’, our server wrote it out each time, causing our order to sprawl across at least 3 pages on the tiny notepad. The starters arrived sometime later, and were actually very nice, albeit overpriced for the portion size. We all had wanted the pork belly, but we were only told they weren’t available when we tried to order them, not when we were given the menus. The first cocktails we ordered – the Lemon Bonbon Bombs – were lovely. The second round took 25 minutes to be served. Around 1hr45m after first sitting down, and with the sound of experimental jazz reverberating around our skulls, we decided to that it’d be best if we left, so asked for our food – when ready – to be put into takeaway boxes. It was when they arrived that we realised there had been a big mistake. Of the 5 people ordering, 2 people’s mains and sides never materialised, as the server clearly hadn’t put through our order properly. We didn’t want to wait for this food to be cooked whilst ours went cold, so we paid and left. When we got to our house and unboxed the food, the disappointment peaked. See images: • A receipt showing what we paid for • (apparently) 2 x portions of potato, totalling £15. That works out at over £1 per tiny potato. • The beef chuck – probably enough for half a person, and certainly not worth £12 • The final meal we plated up each, including some monster munch and quavers to make them a more filling meal Whilst not everything was bad, the service, the loud music, and the huge mess-up with the food meant it pretty much ruined the evening for us.

First time we went as a family, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The drinks where amazing and the food was outstanding. We had an amazing time and are definitely going back again soon

A fantastic little spot for pre or after dinner drinks. Great selection of cocktails (you must try the espresso old fashioned) with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Good service and the food is really top notch if you don't fancy going elsewhere. Definitely the new place to check out in Brighton at the moment.
